Chapter 14

Everything was starting to go right for Donnie. Over the past few weeks he had managed to feed Liam and now the boy was starting to look heathy! He and April got along and were basically best friends. Even his brothers were in better spirits!

But that wasn't to last.

Donatello was outside again, he had given Liam his food and they were quietly chatting.

''Donnie'' Liam began uneasily, ''I have something I need to tell you''

''What's wrong?'' Don asked worriedly,

''Well..'' Liam frowned, but before he could say anything someone interrupted.

''DONATELLO!?'' A chorus of gasps sounded behind the two, Don winced as Liam began to shiver.

''Why are they out here?'' Liam whispered hurriedly,

''I don't know.. probably to find me'' Don hissed back.

''But they're in danger!'' Liam answered slightly louder as he and Don stood up.

''Don't worry'' Don smiled gently, ''I've got this''

they both looked round to see April, Don's future brothers and his young ones.

''er.. hi'' Don grinned sheepishly.

''Why are you giving food to the enemy'' Future leo growled,

''Aw Man.. Donnie! you're always getting in trouble'' young Leo groaned, ''Why can't you just behave?''

''He's a kid! I wouldn't class him as an enemy'' Don frowned as he ignored young Leo's groan.

''He's part of the foot clan'' Future Leo shook his head angrily.

''I'm a spy'' Liam nodded, ''and I have news for you guys''

The others glared at him, he took a deep breath.

''The Shredder is panning to attack you guys soon, I heard him'' Liam gulped.

''WHAT!?'' The six brothers yelped,

''We're not ready'' the two Leos said.

''Also Donnie'' Liam turned to face his friend, ''The Shredder knows what I'm doing.. when I get back he'll kill me''

''Well.. you're not going back then'' Don frowned in determination.

''i have to.. my family's there'' Liam bowed his head. ''I'm sorry''

''The kid can stay with us right?'' Raph asked, his future self shrugged.

''No'' Future Leo glared at Liam, ''we can't trust him''

''He won't do anything'' Leo frowned, ''he's just a kid! Plus he'll be killed if he goes back''

April walked calmly towards Donnie and Liam, He flung Liam over her shoulder before sprinting back to the burrow. Everyone followed.

Once back in she put Liam down in Don's room, she shoved Don in with him.

''You two stay here, the rest of us are going to discuss something'' and with that April slammed the door shut and locked it before taking the others to a different room.

''I'm sorry'' Liam began to cry, ''I'm so sorry''

''what?'' Don stared as the boy went limp and fell to the ground.

he was dead.

''LIAM!'' Don yelped as he knelt next to the boy, why had he died?

That's when he noticed the giant yellow bruise on Liam's arm, there was a small hole in the middle. The boy had been injected with something deadly and Don had failed to notice.

''oh god'' Don gasped, ''I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry..''

He sat in silence next to Liam's body but the silence didn't last, he could hear the sound of footsteps outside.. they were running? It sounded like an army!

As the steps ran past his door there came the sound of screams and yells of all the people on their side.

The Shredder had found them and now he was invading.

The foot were slaughtering them and all Don could do was wonder if his brothers were alright and if he'd ever get out of this room.
