The Kiss:

"My decision stands," said the Pharaoh, "Val has been deported back to Avaris."

Tuya clenched her fists tightly. She was angry. Pharaoh Seti and Lady Tuya were inside of the vast throne room, alone; there were no guards. Pharaoh Seti was leaning against the throne with his arms crossed whilst Tuya was standing rigid upon the steps. Tuya was called upon by the Pharaoh with a letter; they were apart for two long weeks. Tuya requested that she would see him for a particular reason-pertaining to Val-and Pharaoh responded with an answer drawn from his pocket. Tuya was wearing her armored clothing, elongating her form, and adding more 'bone' to her structure. Though she had a strong presence, Tuya's head was down, and her fists were clenched; giving a sign of vulnerability and weakness. Her body was shaking. "You could have thrown him into jail at least," she said bitterly.

Seti shook his head. "Tuya," he said, "Decisions are based on the circumstances given in the present. Having him banned from the city is for the best."

Seti wandered down the steps, slowly nearing Tuya with his crook in hand. He gently tapped it against the side of his face. Pharaoh Seti stopped inches away from Tuya's body. He could tell that she was uncomfortable. He was too close for comfort. She couldn't trust men, not even him.

Pharaoh Seti took a large step back from the woman.

He repeated, "It is for the best of both parties."

Tuya was furious, "He should DIE for what he did to me!"

Seti replied calmly, "A man should die for the unthinkable. Sexual assault is not uncommon."-

Tuya interrupted, "It is unthinkable! A woman of my stature should not be touched in that manner!"

Once again, Seti shook his head, "Sexual assault is worth some jail time, but it is NOT punishable by death."

"Then why did you send him back to Avaris?!"

Seti said irritated, "Because that is where he belongs!" The Pharaoh then drew closer to the lady. "Tuya, something bad happened to you. And I'm mad at myself for not protecting you, but you must understand that a man such as Val cannot be put to death by something as mere as sexual assault."

Pharaoh Seti touched Tuya's arm, but she quickly slapped it away.

"DON'T TOUCH ME!" she screamed.

The Pharaoh snarled, "Why don't you trust me?"

Tuya murmured, "I don't trust any man."

Seti raised an eyebrow, "Not even me?"

"Especially not you!" she exclaimed, causing Seti to jump slightly.

Tuya continued her rant, "There is no justification for his actions! I believe that you don't care about me anymore!"

"I do!" Seti yelled back, "But I have to think of Egypt as well!"

"WHY DIDN'T YOU KILL HIM?!" Tuya screamed.

Pharaoh Seti stomped his foot, "YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY?"

Tuya stared at Seti, wide eyed, waiting for a response.

The Pharaoh explained, "Val is the property of Avaris. Avaris is a giant city that is essential to our kingdom. Like our city, they import, export and breed wealthy people. The only difference is that they have a true governor, or governess. Val is the Lady's Messenger. If she found out that I killed Val without her consent over something involving 'touching', she would be furious. Our ties would be cut, both cities would be at a downfall, and we would plunge into a war. I need that tie with Avaris, Tuya. I cannot take that chance, and I surely cannot kill a man over something small. Just because I am the King of Egypt, doesn't mean that I can slaughter every individual that does something wrong. That would be foolish!" Seti paused, "Do you understand?"

Tuya shook her head, "I do not, for I am not in your position. And you do not understand for you are not in mine."

Pharaoh Seti cocked his head to the side, "You weren't scared of me two weeks ago. So why are you scared of me now?"

Tuya looked away, "It is all men."

Seti said, "But not all men are like that." The Pharaoh then grasped a loose hair that covered Tuya's eyes. He placed it behind her ear, and gazed into her beautiful eyes. "And I'm certainly NOT like that. I deeply care about you. Don't doubt it for a second." A lone tear strolled down Tuya's cheek. Seti wiped it away. "Again, I'm sorry for what happened to you."

Suddenly, Tuya slammed her body against Seti. She wrapped her arms tightly around his torso. She also buried her head into the crevice of his neck. "I love you Seti."

He smiled as he played with her hair, "I love you too, Lady Tuya."

They gazed into each other's eyes. The eyes of ice locked with the eyes of fire.

Then, at the same time, they brought their lips together and kissed. The two both breathed a sigh of relief as they kissed passionately. The Pharaoh placed one hand behind Tuya's head, and the other onto her back. Tuya wrapped both of her arms around the Pharaoh's neck. They locked tongues with one another, and they both breathed heavily. Finally, Pharaoh Seti pulled away. Tuya was surprised. Seti stared back upon Tuya's face and noticed that her eyes were gleaming, and a long grin was plastered upon her face; as was his.

Seti said, "I have to go back to work now."

Tuya wiped her mouth, "Yeah, of course you do."

The Pharaoh rubbed the back of his head, "But you are welcome to sit at the wall over there, and observe. I know that this is really early to say this, but if you did become the Queen of Egypt, I'm sure that this would be a good opportunity to see what takes place here. Then we can have dinner, and I can take you home."

Tuya nodded, "I'd like that."

Later that evening, Pharaoh Seti and Lady Tuya planted themselves on the top of a balcony, looking at the beautiful stars in the night sky. Both parties had herbal teas cupped in their hands, and were smiling gleefully. They sat in silence for a while, until one of them cracked a silly joke; and they laughed, until that sudden burst of energy wore off. Tuya said, "Seti, I have a deep question."

"What is it?" he pondered.

Tuya said, "When I was sitting on the sidelines watching you, I noticed something. And sometimes, even before, I've noticed this."

Pharaoh Seti recalled the early afternoon inside the throne room. He allowed Tuya to sit amongst the other nobles against the walls, while he continued his work. He hoped she learned something as she sat there for hours on end.

"What is it?" Pharaoh asked.

Tuya replied, "When you talk to other people, you become rigid and cold. You give odd glares, and despising comments that are translated into whispers against the opposition, and your people. Years ago, I wandered across the streets, and people said things about you that were untrue in my eyes. But I'll be honest, and I'll tell you bluntly that your people were doubting you at the time. You brought them strength, and got them through the famine, but now they might doubt you once more."

Seti gave a perplexed look.

Tuya continued, "Now maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but I'm just saying this to make you a better person."

Pharaoh nodded. "I understand."

Tuya looked away, "I'm sorry."

"No," Seti replied, "I understand what you are saying. But unfortunately, I'm strict, and if you are the Queen of Egypt, you will have to be strict too. It runs in my veins, and I guess you can say that it is a great weakness that will probably never be cured."

Tuya pondered. She suddenly grew frightened knowing that one day she could be the Queen of Egypt. She knew nothing about the nobles in the way they should think, act and develop. If she were to bear the Pharaoh's children, would she be a good enough mother to raise her children under the noble status?

"Don't worry, Tuya," Pharaoh said, "You would learn everything. It really isn't that different from real life. You just have to know how to dress on certain occasions, how to act around other nobles, and how to address them, along with other kingdoms. You will aid me with my work, but I'll be able to assist in that area. I know a great noble woman that could help you get the drift of what's going on around here."

Tuya sighed and chuckled, "That would be nice."

Tuya leaned against the Pharaoh's shoulder. He pulled her close. Tuya looked at Seti, who was gazing into the horizon.

Tuya felt a slight tingle on the inside of her body. "Seti," she said.

Seti peered at Tuya with a smile.

She said, "Do you want to go somewhere?"

Seti was puzzled, but answered, "Do you have a place in mind?"
