" I know where he is!" She stood up and ran putting on her shoes, but before she could get out of the door she felt a hand on the pressure point in her neck, and quickly as she shot up she shot back down asleep. Lin had put her to sleep on purpose.

"You may know where he is Mai, but you haven't regained your strength…."

Chapter 14

Everyone was sat in Mai's bedroom as Lin had placed her back into the bed. Ayako had to inject Mai with some painkillers since she refused to take them by a normal tablet, they had never expected this from Mai she was being more reckless than normal. Most of them knew the cause of the reason, it was Ryo her father.

Again her face looked flushed, Ayako had placed her hand on Mai's head " She's red hot.." she felt other area's where Mai's skin showed, it was uncommon why was the girl so warm? She rushed out quickly to go get some ice packs. Monk had considered having Mai return back to normal.

Asuna had been quiet about the situation, her mind was on the fact her long life friend, her older brother was in danger, and from the discription Mai gave earlier, Kirito was going to die. But how? How did Mai know he was going to die, how did she know it was ryo that was the one causing all this damage to so many innocent people.

Then it hit her, Mai's powers was growing, she was the queen of the flames, the strongest element., the burning up tempuratures she was having, the visions, they was all part of her powers. Ayako came back in with the ice but before she could place the Ice around Mai Asuna stopped her. "Asuna! She'll die if we don't cool her down," " No she won't Ayako, the heat your feeling is the flames that are resting in her body, They are healing her wounds. She may feel exhausted because its using her energy to heal herself. Mai is the queen of flames, the immortal phoenix this is natural. We just have to bare with it."

" but Asuna" Asuna shook her head " if you place that ice next to her, it will only melt away and slow down her healing process, look at the scar on her chest," Ayako walked over and peeled away the bandaged, it had healed up, no wound but a small scar was still there. Apparently her powers wasn't strong enough to take away the scars but to heal her nicely enough. " What about when she was acting rational?" Naru spoke up, he had been quiet the whole time.

" Because, she's saw the future, she knows what will happen to us all if we go into this fight," they all looked to the girl, " she is indeed our saviour to the guardians and to the world, I'm not as strong as she is, Mai's an incredible person." Asuna went to look out of the window, this fight was far from over.

John, Yasu and Masako had been contacted about the situation and was told not to go anywhere alone, if the Vipers knew about Mai's close contacts they could also be used as bait to lure out the last remaining guardians.

Mai suddenly woke up and rubbed her neck sitting up. " what the hell, who knocked me out?" they all looked to Lin who just gave a smile, " I did it for your own good Mai" Mai growled gripping the sheets, "why? Kirito's in dange-" " because your not strong enough… not yet anyway. Once your wounds have healed you will be."

Monk handed the girl some water and she took a sip, " I'm sorry, I didn't know you was all just as worried as me.." they shook there heads, " Its not just Kirito were worried about Mai, your also a big part of our life, we are also worried about you and your safety we don't want to lose you." Ayako spoke sitting on the bed pushing some of Mai's hair out of her face, She checked Mai's forhead, " your starting to cool down that's good."

Mai sighed " yeah, it is, thank you Ayako, for giving me the chance to live life as a normal family. These past few years with you and the SPR especially Naru, if I had to live alone any longer before I met you all I would have probably gone and killed myself by now, but you all brought light and new hope into my life, Asuna also came back to me, it's like I've been blessed but, there are still nightmares of my past I have to face." Ayako smiled and placed a hand on the girls shoulder " I know, we are all grateful for you to be alive, you may not know it Mai but you are the main key on why we are all together, why we are friends. And now a family."

She looked around the room and they all nodded to her agreeing with Ayako, Naru also took Mai's hand, " and on why.. I found out about a new emotion that I never thought I'd experience, I never knew I could fall in love I was so concentrated on my work, looking for gene at the time, that I didn't notice I was slowly falling in love with you. When I realised it, I thought I couldn't accept it until now. We never want to lose you Mai so… let us help you fight this battle."

Mai looked down tears was falling out her eye's, rubbing her injured hand across them, "thank you, I love you, I love you all but … I can't allow you to fight this battle with me, I saw what would happen, none of you come out of it alive, that's why I have to go alone, I can't lose anymore people I love." Naru brought her into a hug and let her cry onto his shoulder.

Later that night Naru was laid next to Mai to help her sleep, even though she didn't want to, turning out for Naru to fall asleep first, she gently made sure he wouldn't wake up, looking into his angelic face smiling. ' I'm sorry Naru but I have to go alone… ' getting out of bed she went to her wardrob and slipped on some easy to move jeans, a black vest and black leather jacket, She placed her hair up into a high pony tail. Seeing her was slightly open because Naru was warm when Mai was still healing herself. He had asked if he could open it.

It was perfect so Mai agreed to it immediately, placing a quickly scribbled note on the table she left threw the window climbing down the tree that was outside the house and running off into the night.

As Naru turned over he felt the bed was empty, opening his eye's he saw Mai wasn't there, looking over to the window it was wide open and the clothes she was wearing in bed was discarded over the floor, his eye's widened jumping out of bed he rushed to the window but didn't see Mai anywhere in site, Hitting his fist on the railing, how could he have been so dumb to fall asleep.

Rushing back in he threw on his clothes and looked over seeing the note on the desk.

' Naru

I'm sorry but this is something I have to do alone, I love you so much please don't follow or look for me. I WILL bring Kirito back home safely and not let that vision I had come true, I don't want to see you or the others hurt. I have to stop this from happening.

Please tell Ayako and Monk I love them and to be safe.

Tell Asuna I'm sorry for slapping her.

And tell Lin that I'm GOING TO FUCKING KILL HIM WHEN I GET BACK! HOW DARE HE KNOCK ME OUT!

He scrunched up the note and rushed out of the bedroom not even bothing to knock and opened Monks bedroom door. "MAI'S GONE!" both parents jumped up out of bed, full alert "WHAT!" he threw the note at the parents and sat down on Ayako's make up chair. " I fell asleep, I was stupid, she's gone after the Vipers alone." With all the commotion from Naru shouting it caused Asuna and Lin to rush in.

Everyone was now Alert, " Asuna, is there anyway you can tell where Mai has gone?" Asked Lin, sadly Asuna shook her head as she read the note over, biting down on her lip, how could Mai rush off? She was her baby sister, Asuna was meant to protect her not the other way around. " I wish I knew, dammit Mai!"

Morning soon came, Mai had made her way to Tokyo TV station, she knew he was here, she could feel him. Her heart was beating hard in her chest, She was wearing a pair of sunglasses and a hat so the guards wouldn't reconise who she was, looking closely she noticed all of them held the Viper tattoo's. " I knew it," throwing her coffee in the bin she made her way around back and slipped into the building threw a small air vent. She had to find out what floor Kirito was being held on, she also knew she had to kill her father otherwise this would keep carrying on for the rest of their lifes.

As her slender body moved threw the vents, she heard voices, they was coming in the left direction, quickly but quietly she made her way down that direction.

Once at the destination she looked threw the small gaps, a large muscular built man was stood in front of a tied up Kirito. Out of no where the man punched Kirito in the jaw " Tell me where the other two are now!"

Kirito just smirked to him, " I'll never tell you, I wouldn't be surprised if they have fled the country. None of them are stupid enough to come here," That Made Mai sweat drop and scratch her cheek, she was stupid enough to come here, The man turned his back as Mai pulled the vent away she slowly dropped down behind Kirito and untied his hands, Kirito noticed and knew what she was doing.

The Man turned back around and held a knife out "Maybe this will convince you to tell me where them bitches are" he raised his hand to strike down but Kirito caught it in his own hands grinning, "what! How!" Mai stood up behind the man and gave him a swift round house kick to the face knocking him out.

"Just cause I'm a girl doesn't mean I don't know how to fight bastard!" They gave each other a High five but then Kirito got serious "what are you doing here? Don't you know it's what this company wants?"

Mai sighed " I had to come get you, I know what would happen, and I know that Ryo is behind this, I've come to end this otherwise it will not stop" Kirito nodded understanding, " I'm with you on it," they heard voices out side the room, Damn was they discovered already? Hiding behind one of the walls, 3 men rushed into the room seeing the large man knocked out on the floor.

About to say something they couldn't as both siblings had also knocked them out Kirito took the gun that was in one of the mans hoisters, he also offered Mai one but she refused to take it. With that they began making their way around the building, taking down anyone that got in their way.

Soon enough they finally Made it to the roof, damn, this is where Mai saw Kirito dead, they was meant to go in the opposite direction or at least made sure that Kirito got out of the building alive but the damn boy would not leave her on her own. 10 men was to her left, but in stead of Asuna being to her right it was her brother. The door to the roof opened up and it revealed a man in an Italian classic suit with his hair slicked back with around 10 tubs of gel. His sunglasses covered his eye's, " well well, look who's come home boys."

Mai gritted her teeth, " what? My little firebug not happy to see daddy?" Mai got into a stance, her hand held out and it phased a rapier sword into her hand. " Oh? What does the firebug think she's going to do with that? You couldn't even kill me back at the age of 13 what makes you think you can do it right now?"

"Because…. Father… you've pissed me off to the extent where I completely hate your guts!" he couldn't help but laugh, lifting a hand which held 4 rings he grinned.

"oh but how can you defeat me, I hold 4 of the 7 elements at my fingers, I can use them to recoil any attack you have on me. Didn't I teach you better when you was a child now… join me or I will be forced to kill you both for your powers, then Asuna…"

Kirito stood in front of Mai, " We will never join you." Mai nodded in agreement as Kirito summoned his wind Excalibur. This made Ryo laugh even harder, he enjoyed a good fight. Clicking his fingers lighting stuck down, Mai quickly pushed her brother out of the way dodging it. " My you're a fast little firebug, this is getting more exciting!"

The two siblings eye's hardened, as Mai stood up and began walking closer to her father, " I will stop this, I will! Kill you, I will! Have my revenge on what you did to me and Asuna, for abandoning Kirito, and for killing my mother!"

His face went twisted and sick as his fingers snapped, looking to the left she saw a helecopter but this time it wasn't Naru's body that was hanging from it, it was the form of a young woman with brunette hair, Mai's eye's widened, no.. it wasn't possible… was it? Why was it doing here, and in such good condition.

"as you can see, I never fully killed her , just managed to take away them ice powers of hers, and here you betrayed both me and her by getting yourself adopted by that little Takigawa family. You're the one who's betrayed us Mai." Mai shook her head, why was she here, she looked so beaten up and hurt.

The womans Eye's opened seeing Mai on the roof, " Mai… GET OUT OF HERE! RUN!" Mai was too focused on the woman hanging out of the chopper when she didn't notice Ryo coming up behind her with his sword, Kirito pushed Mai out of the way as the blade went threw his stomach, turning around she saw Kirito fall to the floor with a hole straight threw him, her eye's widened Kirito… he was going to die.. And it was her fault.

"KIRITO!"

How'd ya like the chapter! Mai's vision did change, what's this? Who's the woman hanging from the chopper? Will Mai survive, Will Naru be able to find and get to Mai in time before its too late?
