Trixie was sitting in the common are of the prison, moving back and forth slightly as she shushed the baby girl that was now nursing softly form her. Smiling she glanced up to Maggie and Glenn while Hershel walked over to them.
"Feeding good?"
"She's a natural. Took to it just like Hunter. How's he doing?"
"Beth's giving him another bottle before bringing him in here. She said the basket he's in is big enough for little girl there so after you're done we can get her to rest."
"Need to clean her up a bit." Maggie looked to Trixie who nodded in agreement with her, a smile still on her face as the little girl feed.
"What's going on with Rick?" Maggie sighed, turning to Glenn as he ran a hand through his hair.
"He went inside, still looking through the halls I think."
"And the other two prisoners that were running around with ya'll?"
"Axel and Oscar? They are digging graves as we speak. I got them to do that. Think they want in with the group."
"Yeah well that ain't happening." Trixie and the others turned to look up as Daryl walked back inside and frowned as he glanced over to Trixie. She frowned back, wondering what was going on to make him upset with her but when he walked over to Carl he put a hand on the boys shoulder. "You're sister is beautiful man."
"She's perfect." Carl smiled softly, the first one in a while, before Daryl walked over to Trixie and put his hand on her shoulder now.
"I'm going to head out, try to find some more formula incase little one there doesn't take to you much longer." Trixie bristled a bit, feeling like what he had said was an insult, but when she tried to think about it he did have a point. Making herself feel a bit stupid now, if Hunter wasn't eating from her what made her think the little girl would, she just glanced up to Daryl and nodded softly. Hershel was the only one to scoff.
"Nonsense. She took now, she will again. But having more formula wouldn't be a bad idea in case she doesn't feed as long as we'd hope. Hunter is up to six bottles a day right now, she will match him. But feeding from Trixie will help to save as much as we can for now." Daryl gave Hershel a hard stare when he mentioned the baby feeding from his woman again but Trixie chuckled a bit before nodding to Maggie.
"Here, I think she's done right now, she's sleeping and my nipple isn't hurting so that's a good sign she stopped." Maggie chuckled, nodding before taking the baby softly from her arms and blocking her view as she got dressed properly. Once she was done Trixie stood gently, shakily but still alright before turning to Daryl and nodding for him to follow her.
"You alright?" Trixie glanced over to Carl and nodded, a bit shocked at how he was watching her still but she sort of understood it was because if she died than no one would be able to take care of his sister like she would.
"I'm fine Carl. Just a bit weak."
"I'll get you some granola we found and some water. Be right back." Trixie as going to decline the offer but Daryl shushed her as she took his hand and followed him outside.
"Carl doesn't need to be wasting his efforts on me Daryl. We need him to focus on his sister and his dad. Where is Rick anyway?"
"Ricks in the cell where Lori was. And Carl just needs something to keep his mind off of what happened." Trixie nodded, thinking the way Daryl was, before he paused right next to his bike as they got outside.
"What are you planning on doing Daryl?"
"I think me and Maggie are gonna head into the town closet to us. There was a day care somewhere along the back roads. We are going to try there for anything we can get." Trixie nodded, glancing back to the prison as Glenn and Carl walked out. Turning her head she noticed the other two inmates standing in the field, digging graves, when Carl handed Trixie the granola and water he had promised her.
"Here you go." Trixie smiled, nodding to the boy before taking a sip of the water and watching him smile back before he walked back into the prison.
"Hey, you need to stay hydrated. For Hunter." Trixie nodded, absentmindedly adding to his statement without even thinking.
"And baby girl." Daryl bristled at this now, shaking his head and fighting with himself before Trixie turned and noticed his struggle to keep calm. "Daryl?"
"No, no you have to stay well for us first. We are your family, not her and not Carl. Us Trixie. US!" Daryl glanced up to her, confused by his feelings but not willing to let his woman give up on them just for someone else. Trixie, confused as well, shook her head as she tried to take a step closer to Daryl.
"What are you talking about? Just because I'm helping Carl and his sister doesn't mean I'm not going to take care of Hunter or you ya big daft idiot."
"No, no you got to take care of Hunter and you can't if you are taking care of his baby more. You need to think about this Trixie, you ain't that kid's mother." Trixie now took a step back as Maggie and Glenn made their way over to the couple. Noticing the tension between them Maggie cleared her throat and nodded to Daryl's bike as he nodded and just turned without a goodbye to Trixie. Running a hand through his hair he got onto the bike while Maggie got onto the back and glanced at Trixie with a saddened face. Glenn put his hand on her shoulder, holding Trixie back as Daryl started the bike up and rode off, but when he was out he gate Glenn let Trixie go and fume by herself while he watched the gates being closed by Carl and nodded before he went to help him lock them.
The next morning Trixie was once more sitting in the common area while Maggie prepared breakfast, oatmeal, as Beth held the baby girl and Trixie fed Hunter. Carl was sitting between them both, picking at his meal, when the baby girl started to squirm and fuss. Trixie sighed, knowing she was going to want to eat soon, and switched sides with hunter before motioning for Beth to hand the baby girl to her. Once she had the tiny girl settled in her left arm she helped the girl to latch onto her breast to feed while Hunter pushed his bottle out of his mouth and fussed himself.
"Here, let me take him." Trixie smiled but shook her head to Beth.
"I got him, I got to take care of my own as well but thank you." Beth frowned but with the sound of the others starting to come in she decided it was best to talk to Trixie alter about what had been bugging the woman all night with Daryl and Maggie had been gone. Once Glenn got into the area and hugged Maggie he turned and chuckled a bit at the sight of Trixie.
"Geeze, you'd have thought you would have been bigger carrying twins." Trixie chuckled herself now, shaking her head as Carl helped her get the bottle back in place for Hunter who took it once more without fight.
"Yeah, and getting back to this size afterwards, yeah I'm a miracle." Beth chuckled once, watching Daryl stiffen by Trixie's side now as he ran a finger over his sons face.
"Luckily you didn't have twins, just this handsome man here." Trixie gave Daryl a glare, something still not sitting right between them since the day before, when Hunter once more pushed his bottle out and started fusing, looking over to Daryl.
"Speaking of whose is whose. YOUR son wants you." Trixie gave Daryl a death glare as he gently took Hunter from her, holding him close to him and giving Trixie a free hand to maneuver the little girl around with as she sighed at the weight difference.
"Have we came up with any names yet Carl?" Trixie glanced to Beth then to Carl as he shrugged, seeing everyone starting to surround them, including Axel and Oscar, as he frowned slightly.
"Not really. There's Andrea, Amy, Carol and Sophia….and uh….Lo….uh-hm Lori. I just…I don't know." Trixie smiled, placing a hand on Carl's shoulder before Daryl smiled gently, hating to see the kid feel so down. Glancing from Hunter to the little girl he chuckled once, gathering everyone's attention.
"What about little ass kicker? She's as tough as any of us here. Fits don't it?" Trixie smiled now, finally glad to see that for once Daryl had something nice to say about the baby instead of something off the wall but it was short lived as the baby girl fussed while the cell block door leading into the prison creaked and Rick walked in, glancing to everyone.
"Everybody ok?" Trixies head snapped up, moving the baby girl around a bit before she settled back into nursing and nodded Ricks way.
"Yeah."
"We're alright, what about you?" Trixie noticed Hershel sitting now beside Beth as he watched Rick walking towards them all, glancing over everyone and nodding slowly.
"Cleared out the boiler block." Everyone exchanged a few scarce glances before Daryl nodded to him.
"How many were there?" Rick shrugged softly.
"I don't know. A dozen, two dozen. I have to get back just wanted to check on Carl." Rick patted Carl's shoulder, Trixie noticing the boy gazing at the table rather than his father as Rick went to go back into the prison.
"Rick we can handle taking out the bodies, you don't have to ok?"
"No, no I do." Trixie frowned, everyone knew why Rick was acting the way he was but they didn't need him to be like this right now and as Carl glanced up to Trixie when the baby girl whimpered he sighed. Rick nodded to them all as he glanced up to Daryl and nodded his way again. "Everyone have a gun and a knife?"
"Yeah. We're running low on ammo though."
"Maggie and me were planning on another run this afternoon. Found a phone book with some places we can hit, look for more bullets and formula just in case."
"We cleared out the generator room too. Axel's there trying to fix it in case of emergency. We're gonna sweep the lower levels as well." Rick glanced between Glenn and Daryl, nodding as he found everything to be alright but as he went to move to go back into the prison once more Hershel called out to him.
"Rick!"
"No, that's good, ya'll do that and I'll be back when I'm done." Carl glanced over to his dad, not missing the whole fact that he didn't once stop to gaze at his new born daughter.
"Its ok Carl, he'll be fine." Carl nodded to Trixie while she fixed herself up and picked up the baby girl, patting her on the back to make her burp before handing her off to Carl and watching the big brother bonding with his baby sister. Trixie could tell there was hard times coming and she was just hoping they would all be prepared for them.
