Disclamer: I don't own Sam&Cat, Dan Schneider does.
Warning: There is a lot of swearing and violent situations in this chapter.
The group made their way in the deserted halls, pushing in an extra effort to advance with their legs submerged in the freezing water. Sam was leading them; her hand tightly wrapped around Cat's, who was following close behind.
Robbie was right behind the girls, not wanting to lose them from sight. The boys were at the end of the line, trying to remove Willy from Daniel's hand to try and prove if it was one of those bewitched toys that would turn into real life animals when returned to their natural habitat.
"What good could a real whale bring into this already fucked up situation?" – Daniel asked, trying to defend his new-found puppet friend, keeping the toy out of reach.
His friends, however, wouldn't give up on their efforts to piss off the blond even further, and continued trying to reach for the already soaked blue puppet.
"Would you idiots keep it quiet in the back?" – Luke said, turning his head slightly to face the irritating trio.
"And who are you?" – James replied, somewhat offended.
"None of your concern"
"Hey, pretty boy. We're all going to probably die together tonight so we should at least know each other's names" – Beau spoke, switching into his serious persona and glaring at the twin.
"Fuck!" – Yelled Sam from the front of the row. Before they could wonder what had happened, the girls and a very frightened Robbie were coming back in their direction – "There is only about a foot of the stairwell opening visible, water is coming down like crazy. We gotta find another way out"
The blonde explained before walking away in seek for another route of escape. The boys just shrugged and followed the women, continuing their discussion. After a few seconds, Luke sighed – "You're right, I guess"
"My name is Beau"
"And I'm James"
"I'm Daniel and my fella' here is Willy"
"We already knew that" – Jai chuckled – "I'm Jai and this is my brother Luke"
"We figured you were brothers. Not sure why" – James joked, causing the group of boys to laugh mockingly.
"Only these guys could be laughing in a situation like this" – Cat whispered to Sam, who agreed with a small nod.
"We like you guys"
"That's pretty gay, Luke" – Beau replied.
"Shouldn't be surprising, really. At the end of the day the only thing that rhymes with gay is Luke"
"Fuck off. Besides, if you must know, the redhead and I have something going on"
"Dude, what the fuck?" – Said Jai in disgust, pushing his brother aside and almost making him fall into the freezing water. The twin only snickered at his weak attempt of a push.
"Now, that's not possible" – Daniel spoke – "The redhead is with the blond, together I mean. Didn't you see them kiss back in the room?"
Jai stuttered – "N-No! We did not!"
"I told you she already had a boyfriend"
"The blond is not her boyfriend, she's his girlfriend"
The youngest twin felt weak on his knees and almost tripped with his own feet – "Isn't that a boy?"
"No, bro" – Beau responded – "She's a girl, we arrested her because she'd allegedly stolen something from a dick from first class. We guess the guy cut her hair off"
"Cat really liked her hair" – Robbie commented softly as to avoid being heard by the girls – "It was the first thing she noticed about Sam"
"That's fucked up" – Said Luke, clenching his fists in a surprising desire to protect the girl.
The rest of the boys mimicked his action and stared at the two ladies leading them to safety. Sam had her arms wrapped around Cat's shoulders, shielding her from any falling object or water coming from the roof. The shorter girl was hugging the blonde tightly by the waist, face buried in her neck.
Sam's lips moved occasionally, speaking words of reassurance, and the redhead would lift her head up to meet her girlfriend's loving gaze, replying with a small smile on her features.
"I wish I had something like that" – Jai declared, obviously gutted at the idea of Cat already having a significant other, but still wanting to protect them both at any cost.
Beau addressed his friends in a soft whisper – "Listen guys, we need to make a promise here. Those girls need to live and we'll make that happen"
"No matter if our lives are at risk" – James seconded, eyes still on the two lovers.
"This is very gay, and please don't ever remind me I said this, if we happen to get out of this alive" – Said Daniel – "But if we die we die for their love"
There was silence for a few seconds before the rest of the boys snickered softly – "You're right that is very gay. But you're right. If we die we die for a reason"
"I'm in" – Jai agreed.
"So am I" – The boys said in a whisper, nodding their heads and stopping briefly to shake hands.
"Boys! Boys, come here!" – Cat called, distracting them from their discussion.
The group rushed to the front of the row, almost stumbling down into the water in their attempt to make themselves to first ones to be at the ladies' service.
Beau was the first one to reach the redhead – "Yes, miss?"
"Help me out here, guys!" – Sam replied before Cat could.
The blonde was trying to crash a door open, kicking it with her legs and body, as best as she could with the water level now reaching past her knees. Beau nodded decisively and started kicking the door with all of his strength. James joined soon and started repeating their actions.
"Come on!" – Beau bellowed – "At the same time! One, two, three!"
CRASH!
The door flew open, splinters landing everywhere and shocked passengers turning their attention to the people emerging from it.
"Come on, Cat" – Sam said, taking Cat's hand into her own and leading her and the others out the door and into the corridor.
Here you! You'll have to pay for that; you know" – A steward who was nearby herding people along cried out, marching after the group – "That's White Star Line property-
"Shut up!" – The whole group, including Robbie, roared together, walking past the dumbfounded steward.
They walked into a huge group of people waiting in line, the corridor completely blocked by large families carrying their entire luggage.
"What's going on?" – Robbie asked in confusion, trying not to get lost in the middle of the crowd.
Sam and Cat moved to the top of the stairs, pushing their way to an iron gate just to find it locked from outside. Two stewards were at the other side of the gate, pacing left to right and trying to ignore the pleas from those locked inside.
"Open the fucking door" – Sam ordered in a raspy and firm voice.
Neither of the two stewards made an attempt to help.
"Sir, please" – Said Cat politely, making one of the men turn their attention to her. The guy was obviously struck by her beauty, but was still able to explain the situation.
"I do apologize, miss, but we have our orders. The gates will be opened once all the passengers from first class are in their respective life boats"
"This is bullshit" – The blond sighed and climbed down the stairs, pulling Cat right after her. The redhead followed after thanking the steward, whose gaze didn't leave her until she disappeared into the crowd.
"This'll take the chill off, son" – An Irish senior offered to the group of boys who were waiting for the women to get back. He was holding a glass of whiskey in one hand and the full bottle in the other.
Beau didn't hesitate and accepted the invitation, drinking the alcohol in one quick sip.
The girls appeared from among the crowd – "We have to move, maybe another gate will be open" – Sam said before walking away with Cat, hand in hand.
"We'll take this" – Jai said, snatching the bottle from the hand of the Irish old man and running after the girls, the rest of the boys hot on his heels.
"Give me some of that" – Said Luke, taking a swing of whiskey. Robbie turned to him, a frown fixed on his features.
"You really shouldn't do that"
"Why not? We're probably gonna die, let me die happy"
"You should learn to relax, four eyes. Here" – James laughed, offering him the bottle – "Take some, enjoy your last moments"
"Oh, I really shouldn-
"Come on, man" – Beau insisted, throwing his muscular arm around the shorter boy's shoulders – "You wanna be a part of our group?"
The proposal brought a deep blush to Robbie's cheeks, making the boys snicker in response. The black haired boy didn't seem to notice though, and stammered his answer – "Y-you want me t-to be a part of your group?"
"Of course! You seem like quite a decent lad, someone to pull a lot of pranks on"
"Oh boy" – Robbie giggled in a sort of girly manner, blushing even deeper at Beau's words – "I'd never been part of a group. It sounds like quite the offer if you as-
"Dice!" – Sam yelled from the front of the line and let go of Cat's hands briefly to hug his young friend tightly, something she'd never done before.
"The boats, Sam! They are all gone!" – Dice declared anxiously. Just then he noticed Cat was right next to Sam, and he was left agape. But before he could make any questions, Sam spoke again.
"We gotta get up there or we're gonna be gargling saltwater. Where's Goomer?"
"He's up there, trying to get past"
Indeed there he was, hands on the bars of the steel gate which blocks the head of the stairwell. Women, children and men were crushing each other against the gates, begging the stewards for mercy.
"Women and children only. No men" – Announced one of the officers, opening the gate a foot or so and a few women with their kids could go through. But some terrified and enraged men, including Goomer, try to rush through the gap, forcing the gate open. The crewmen and stewards push them back, shoving and punching them.
Struggling to get the gate closed again, one of the stewards brandished a small revolver, pointing it at the crowd, the other one holding a fire axe. At the sight of what was happening, the boys rushed to the front and so did Sam after telling Cat not to move, leaving Dice in charge of her safety. The gate was locked, making the crowd to start pounding against the steel and shouting in several languages.
"For the love of God, man, there are children down here! Let us up, so we can have a chance!" – Goomer screamed out in desperation to no avail.
"Open the door" – Sam ordered, finally reaching the top of the stairwell and joining her friends. Goomer turned to wave happily at her, instantly forgetting his recent outburst of rage.
"Sam" – Cat whispered from behind. She'd followed her, of course she had. Not turning to recognize the presence of her lover, the blonde commanded again, in-between clenched teeth.
"Open…the…door"
"Go to the main stairwell, with everyone else" – Replied the steward who was holding the axe, showing no sign of emotion –"It'll all get sorted out here"
"Sam" – Whispered the redhead again, this time with a note of sadness in her voice. Sam turned around only to find her girlfriend nearly in tears, squeezing her hand in despair. And looking at Cat in that state did it for Sam.
"I said open the fucking door, god damn it you son of a bitch!" – The blonde exploded, grabbing the bars of steel and shaking them furiously, kicking and punching them as hard as she could. The rest of the crowd followed, being encouraged by the boys who were repeating Sam's actions violently. The stewards had no control of the situation whatsoever anymore, and the only thing they could rely on was shouting warnings at the maddened multitude and point at them with their guns.
"Come on, boys!" – The blonde shouted, turning to the group and gesturing to meet her at the foot of the stairwell. Cat followed close, grabbing Sam's sleeve tightly and relying on her strong arms to prevent herself from falling downstairs.
Grabbing one end of a bench bolted to the floor on the landing Sam called out to her new group of friends again – "Help me out!" – Joining the blonde the boys started pulling on it, Dice and Goomer pitched in to help the other ones out until the bolts sheared and it broke free.
Figuring out what they were doing Cat immediately jumped to action and started clearing a path up the stairs between the waiting people – "Move aside! Quickly, move aside!"
"Ready, boys? One, two, three!" – The group yelled out and ran up the steps with the bench, knocking aside a few passengers who hadn't listened to Cat's order. They ram into the gate with all their strength – "Again!" – And so they did, finally managing to rip loose the gate from its track and causing it to fall outward, narrowly missing the steward.
"Let's go!" – Jai screamed to the multitude behind, and led by Sam, the crowd surges though. Cat stepped up to the cowering stewards and made sure to speak in her most imperious tone.
"You may not who I am but if we get out of this alive I'll make sure as hell you find out, and not in a good way. So if you have any intention of keeping your pathetic job with the White Star Line, I suggest you escort us all to the boat deck... now"
A/N: Please R/R guys! There's nothing more disappointing than not seeing any reviews posted.
Hopefully the next chapter will be longer than this one. People will start dying as well (Oh, isn't that just a delight?)
Also, I just started writing another Puckentine fanfiction called "The Decision Ballad"and it is based on a World War II prompt. Go check it out and review, let me know if it's worth continuing.
