Disclaimer- Hello, friends. As you already know I don't own Resident Evil. If I did RE 5 and 6 would be a whole different story. By that I mean more survival horror than shoot 'em up type games. But I don't as you know they are the sole property of Capcom. I only own Raven, Jonathan, and Jude. While my long time friend Zombiedog001 owns Cynthia. I also own the plot. Now that I got the disclaimer out of the way on with Chapter 14 of Devil's Opinion.
Jonathan reached for the knob and cried out as something slammed into the door, just as he opened it. Grunting he propped himself up on his elbows, and looked up and saw...nothing.
"What the hell just happened?" Mark asked, gun trained on the door.
"It looked like something slammed into the door then moment you opened it." Rita commented, occasionally she would glance in Marvin's direction, concern shining in her chocolate brown eyes. AS she watched as blood trickled down his bare arm.
Jonathan let out an frustrated groan as he picked himself up, off the ground, inhuman eyes flashing angrily. "Get back!" He ordered, as there was a low growl from somewhere in the room, making the other survivors jump.
Just as Jonathan was knocked off to the side by some invisible force. It was then they saw the faint glimpse of some reptilian creature advancing on Jonathan slowly as the young man picked himself off the ground. Seeing the invisible creature suddenly appear in front of Jonathan Mark saw his opportunity, and raced to Jonathan's side.
And fired of the reptilian creature, and was rewarded with a pain howl as the creature turned to him, yellows eyes narrowing as it turned to glare at Mark. "Yeah, leave him alone, and come to me. You ugly, scaly bastard." Mark taunted, as the creature advanced.
Suddenly with an unexpected burst of speed the creature charged at him, hissing as it slammed head first into Mark's gut. Knocking him to the ground. Hissing again as it stood over him, clawed hand outstretched over its head, and slashed Mark across the chest.
Mark cried out blood began to blossom across his shirt, before he aimed his gun at the creature, and fired. Catching the creature in the skull, dropping it.
"Mark!" Rita cried out as the creature on top of him. Rushing to the fallen man Rita called out to him again, jumping slightly as the creature shifted a little before Mark appeared from beneath the creature. Covered head to toe in the creatures blood.
"Mark, are you okay?" Rita sighed, helping the big man up.
"Oh, I've been better, what was that thing? A mutated iguana?" he asked, looking down at its body.
"Who knows?" Rita said, with a shrug. "All I know is that we got out of this alive." She said, a tired smile on her lips.
"No kidding." Mark said, wiping the blood from his face before looking to Jonathan.
"If everyone is all right then we should continue on. We don't have much time." He said, opening the door once more, and peered down the hallway, saw, or sensed nothing that could be a threat. "Coast is clear." He told them, pulling the door open further.
Wasting no more time the others followed after him, scanning the area for anymore of those invisible lizards, seeing no signs of them they rounded the corner. Seeing a single metal door. Reaching it they opened it, and found themselves outside. A cool wind blowing past them as they looked around.
"Should we be outside?" Marvin inquired, leaning against the wall, his skin looking rather pallid, as he clutch at his bloody shoulder. "For all we know there could be something nasty lurking out here that we don't know about."
Then just as he said that there was a loud high pitched scream from somewhere above them, followed by 'whump, whump, whump.' Feeling their blood run cold the group looked up just as something resembling what could have once been a bat flew over head. If bats grew to an unbelievably enormous size.
"Hello there, nightmare fuel." Rita muttered, her eyes glued to the bat, as it perched on top of a derelict old building, staring down at them with gleaming red eyes. Before emitting another earsplitting shriek. "As if normal bats didn't scare the daylights out of me there's this one." Aiming her gun at the creature.
"Yeah, but with this one you won't have to worry about it getting stuck in your hair." Marvin added, pushing himself off the wall, and moved to join the others, gun trained on it as well.
"It's more likely to take your head off though." Mark piped up.
That being said the bat spread its tattered wings, and swooped down at them.
"Rita, watch out!" Marvin shouted, roughly shoving the blonde cop out of the way as the bat headed straight for her. Gritting her teeth Rita rolled onto her back, and fired on the bat. Catching it in the chest. The bullets, however, seemed to have little effect on it as the bat let out another screech, as it threw its head back, before swiping at her with one tattered wing. Catching her in the side.
Making her skid across the rough asphalt, skinning her knees as she did. The bat, not satisfied with having caused her mere abrasions on her skin, lumbered after her, resting its decaying body on tattered wings. Before Mark jumped out in front of it and fired, catching it where its wing met its shoulder.
Black blood poured down its wing as it took to the skies once more.
"Hey, kid!" Marvin called out to Jonathan, just as the bat turned its attention to the boy in question, hissing it lunged at him with its talons, its claws digging into the cement as Jonathan leaped out of the way. "Any ideas on how to fight this plague infested vermin?" Marvin asked, firing on the bat as it closed in on him.
Jonathan chewed on the inside of his cheek as he watched the bat dive down on them again. Just as Mark raised his gun, and fired. Catching the bat in the eye. More black blood spraying from the wound as the bat howled in pain before tumbling to the ground.
"That works..." he said. As the bat remained still. If Jude knew that his little pets would be such push overs. Jonathan thought smugly.
However their victory was short lived as the bat shifted and slowly got to its feet once more. Glaring at them with its one remaining eye. I celebrated too soon. He thought unloading round after round into the creatures back.
Suddenly the creature collapsed on the ground and began to shake, before letting out another blood curdling scream as it began to mutate, what remained of its fur began to melt off, revealing bright red muscle tissue. Letting out another shriek its mouth began to elongate, revealing rows and rows of curved teeth. And then the creature slowly began to grow larger and larger before turning to face them once more.
Drool trickled down its jaws as it advanced on them. Its now dead white eyes fixed on Rita, and before the former police woman had a chance to get out of the way it scooped her up in its talons, and took to the sky.
"Rita!" Marvin screamed as he rushed to her aid, as the bat soared out of reach. Dropping to his knees Marvin watched in disbelief as that mutated rat disappeared to god knew where. "W-we got to get her back." He stammered as Jonathan and Mark joined him, determination shining in their eyes.
Gritting his teeth Marvin got to his feet, Marvin turned to Jonathan, grabbing him by the front of his shirt. "Tell me where. Where did that thing take Rita?" he demanded.
Chewing on his lip Jonathan thought for a second. "The old bell tower. North of here." Jonathan said, pointing in the direction he just indicated.
"Then north is where we'll go." Marvin said, letting Jonathan go and began to head in the direction, hoping he wasn't too late.
"You feel like this place is just one giant maze filled with monsters?" Jim asked, as he looked around at their surroundings. After Cindy had regained her composer and continued their trek through the Umbrella facility. And in doing so had found themselves in the lower levels. Mainly the basement.
"It's rather confusing I will admit." Cindy said, looking around the darkened room. "Do you think we'll find anything of use down here?" she asked, moving away from Jim to look around.
"Hopefully Raven. I mean usually Umbrella would have some secret lab down here for their experiments, wouldn't they?" Jim asked, noticing the door at the other side of the room.
Narrowing his eyes he moved towards it. Opening it he peered into the room, green eyes widening. "Oh man, Cindy you need to check this place out." Jim gasped, stepping into the room, eyes fixed on the various glass tubes lined in front of him, each holding some creature or other.
"What in the...?" Cindy choked out, her eyes widening as she looked at the tubes as she slowly walked to one of the tubes, inside the one before her was something that might have been a scorpion at one point. If scorpions grew that size.
In the tube next to it was what she could easily be called a millipede, a huge millipede no less. "Looks like someone has a fixation with insects." Cindy muttered more to herself than to Jim, as she moved onto the next tube. When-
"Awww, man." Jim groaned, causing Cindy to look over at him. Watching as Jim examined the underside of his shoe as he peeled something off of it.
"What's wrong?" she asked, walking over to him.
"Looks like spider webs." Jim muttered, as he struggled to shake the sticky substance off of his fingers.
"That does look like webbing..." Cindy agreed, as Jim managed to get it off of his fingers.
"Greeeeat you know what that means." Jim groaned, just as there was a low hiss from above them. Looking up they jumped out of the way as an extremely large black widow dropped down from the ceiling.
Hissing again the black widow turned to them. "Great, just great that's just what we need." Jim moaned, aiming his gun at it and firing, aiming for its many gleaming red eyes. A loud screech greeted them as milky white liquid poured down the spiders face as it reared up and staggered away from the two. However the spider was far from done with them as it lunged at them, its spindly legs lashing out, catching Jim across the face, knocking him down.
"Jim!" Cindy cried out, as Jim struggled to his feet. Just as the spider advanced on him again.
Hissing again the spider reared back and spat a pale green liquid at Jim's feet. Jim looked on in horror as hundreds if not thousands of little spiders poured out from the greenish liquid, and scurried towards him.
"Ahhh, get off!" He cried out as he grabbed at the little black spiders as they clung to his clothes, and scurried up his body. Rushing over to him Cindy grabbed at the quarter sized spiders and tossed them off of him until he was finally free from them and turned back to the large black widow.
Raising their guns they fired on the creature simultaneously, rivets of milky white blood pouring from various holes in the spiders bloated body onto the floor, when finally they spider let out an earsplitting screech and reared up once more before dropping to the ground.
Breathing a sigh of relief as they stood over the prone body of the spider, when something began to move underneath its exoskeleton, when suddenly it burst open and millions of those smaller spiders spilled out and scurried towards them.
"Jesus Christ, can't we catch a break?" Jim whined as he grabbed Cindy's arm and raced towards the door on the other side of the room, which lead to some stairs. Slamming the door shut behind them they turned to face the door as the spiders scurried under the door, and towards them once more.
Racing up the stairs they tried the doorknob and pushed the door open, before slamming it shut, and racing down the hall to the set of double doors. Slamming them open, they quickly closed them and rested against it, before slumping to the ground.
"Man," Jim panted, "if I ever seen another spider it will be too soon."
Laughing slightly Cindy nodded. "Tell me about it. I was scared before the outbreak. Now I got to worry spiderzilla ans mega-millipedes." She said, brushing a few strands of blonde hair out of her eyes.
"Hell, a normal sized one of those would scare the crap out of anyone." Jim told her as he got to his feet.
'BZZZZZZZZ'
Jumping slightly the two of them begun to look around for the buzzing noise. When Cindy slowly looked up, her eyes widening as she saw something impossible. "J-Jim..." she choked out, tugging on his sleeve, forcing him to follow her terrified gaze to the enormous dragon fly perched on the ceiling. However before either of them could utter a sound it dropped down from the wall on top of them.
"Well though I will admit it is nice to get outside." Cynthia said, as a cool breeze swept through her hair. "Does anyone know where we are?"
Brow furrowed Kevin looked around the area. "Almost seems like a court yard of sorts. And there over there looks like a guard house of some sort." He said, pointing to the building off in the distance.
"Shall we check it out?" David asked.
Nodding the group headed in the direction of said guard house. When suddenly the ground beneath them began to shake. And before anyone could react Alyssa and Yoko were tossed through the air, and on to the ground a few feet from what they could have guess was a worm at some point. Emerging from the hole it had created the long, cylindrical form of the worm bent down, parting its jaws it lunged for Alyssa.
"Alyssa, move!" Kevin cried out, grabbing her by the back of her shirt, and pulling her out of the way, as the worm dove underground once more.
"What shall we do?" Alyssa inquired, getting to her feet as the ground began to rumble once more. "I don't think we could fight it." She added, as the worm emerged again, a few feet from the group. Narrowly missing them as it let out another bellowing roar. Before whipping its head back and spitting out a viscous black liquid that landed a few feet from David.
A grimacing forming on his face as the liquid began to eat through the ground.
"I suggest we run." Yoko advised as the worm dove underground once more. Nodding the group began to race towards the building as the ground continued to rumble. Suddenly Kevin was knocked off of his feet, as the worm bolted out of the ground and now loomed before him.
Roaring once more the worm wasted no time diving down on him before David grabbed him and pulled him out of the giant worms way.
"Don't think it's going to let us get away." Cynthia mused. "That means we'll have to fight it...somehow..." Biting down on her lip she tried to find away to fight it, knowing that pistols wouldn't have much affect on it. When she saw it, off to the side was an electrical panel, no doubt used to send power through the guardhouse, and whatever else.
Steeling her nerves she broke free of the group, and raced towards it, hoping to lure the worm in that direction. Stopping in front of the electrical box she watched as the worm emerged once more. If it had eyes Cynthia had no doubt it would have glared down at her as it began to descend on her.
"Cynthia, move!" Yoko screamed.
"Move!" Alyssa said, her eyes wide as the worm began to come crashing down on her, just as Cynthia jumped out of the way, and watched in satisfaction as the worm struck the electrical box.
Electricity began to course through the rubbery body of the monster worm. Smoke rising from its body, as its skin began to peel. Finally the worms body remained still, acrid smelling smoke rising from its body and hitting Cynthia's nostrils.
"Well," she managed to choke out, as bile rose in her throat. "That's one way of taking out a giant worm." And with that she planted her hands on her knees, and proceeded to vomit. Once done she turned to the others.
"Well," Yoko said, tearing her gaze away from the smoking remains, and to the guard house. "Shall we continue on?" she asked, as David reached for the door knob.
Bracing themselves they watched as he opened the door and peered in. Seeing on immediate threats they piled in and closed the door behind them.
"Well now we know where the guards god when they're off shift." Alyssa mused, looking around the room, her eyes narrowing when she saw something off to the left. Moving closer to it she noticed an indent in the wall. Nibbling on her bottom lip, she gently pushed on it. Nothing. Brow furrowed she looked around, seeing something sitting on one of the desks she walked over towards it.
Arching an eyebrow when she saw a small red button resting on top of the desk. What harm could it cause? She thought and pressed it. Jumping when she heard the sound of something sliding open. Turning around she smiled when she saw a secret passage had been revealed to them. Looking to the others she swallowed as she moved towards the entrance. Peering in she saw stairs leading down to...god knew where.
What she did know was that it was dark, and that meant god knew what lurked in the shadows. Running a hand through her hair she looked around the room, looking for a light source of some sort.
"What's the matter?" Kevin asked, watching as he watched her look around the room.
"It's dark and I don't want to wander through the dark." She told him.
"Well if that's the case." Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a small flashlight, and moved past her towards the secret passage. Turning the light on he shone it down the stairs, seeing nothing they slowly made their way down the stairs, and found themselves in a darkened hallway. Shining the light around Kevin saw a set of double doors and moved towards them. Opening the door they found themselves in a large laboratory. Looking around the room Kevin's eyes widened as his flash light landed on one yellow pupil slitted eye that glared at him from between the shelves, before it pushed through the shelves and slithered towards him.
"As if giant worms weren't bad, we got giant snakes." Kevin groaned, as the snake in question and hissed, parting its jaws and revealing curved, venomous fangs, before lunging at him. Jumping out of the way Kevin watched as the large vipers head crashed into the ground.
"Jesus Christ." David muttered as he fired on the snake, bullets tearing into its scaly hide. Black blood trickling down its side as it turned its narrowed eyes to him. Forked tongue flicking out to taste the air before lunging at him.
"David!" Yoko cried out, shoving him out of the way. Just as the snakes closed down on her, venomous fangs sinking into her left arm, as she was left off the ground, and shook violently.
Crying out as it dropped her onto the ground.
"Yoko!" David screamed, rushing to her side as the snake turned to Kevin and the others. David's eyes widened at he looked to her arm, hissing through his teeth as he saw the infected looking skin the wounds. Gritting his teeth David turned to the snake once more.
Waiting until it turned to face him he fired on it, catching it in the eye, blood and bits of eyeball flying everywhere as it let out a scream as it reared up. "I had it with these monsters." He muttered, as the snake glared at him with its single eye, before moving towards him.
"This is great!" Jude cheered as he eased himself into the soft leather chair, his eyes glued on the various security cameras in front of him. On one of the screens showed those meddlesome survivors contending with various creatures he so lovingly created. On one screen was Marvin, Mark, and than damned traitor Jonathan contending with the giant bat. While on another screen it showed another pair, whose names eluded him, taking out the black widow before coming across the dragon fly.
On another screen he witnessed the largest group dispose of the giant worm before coming across the giant viper. Pushing his glasses up onto his nose he crossed his legs. "With entertainment like this I almost wish I had some popcorn." Suddenly his eyes moved to another screen, his eyes widening at what he saw made his blood run cold.
There, wandering down one of the halls was Raven's sister. Slowly getting up from his seat he began to type something onto the console.
"So that's where you are, huh?" he whispered, a scowl forming on his face as he moved towards the door. :Think that just because we altered your body you think you got free roam of the place?" Grabbing a tranq gun that was resting beside the door.
But to be honest I am curious as to what awoke you, did...you perhaps sense that your sister is here?" he inquired, opening the door and moving down the hall to intercept her. "No matter you will no escape."
Well, I finally squeezed out a chapter to this story. And I never expected there to be so much action. But, eh. Wish I had more to say but I got to go to work soon. So with that begin said this is Black Jack signing off. And don't forget to review.
