Jim looked at Spock, wondering how he could make him react to something. Suddenly, the blonde took one of Spock's hands and pressed a gentle kiss to the palm. He heard Spock's breath hitch and grinned. "This is what you meant by sensitive?" Jim whispered into the raven's ear.

"This is...not what I meant by that comment," Spock said, instinctively leaning back towards his roommate. "You will have to stop that soon."

"Why?" Jim pressed lazy kisses to Spock's palm and the inside of his wrist.

"Because my father said he would be video calling me soon."

Jim stopped, meeting Spock's eyes. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Your dad? The ambassador dude?" Spock nodded. "I'm outta here." The blonde began to leave the room.

"You do not have to leave. I only request that you remain out of frame." Jim conceded when Spock grabbed him arm and pulled him back towards him. The computer beeped, signally a video call. Glancing at Jim briefly, Spock answered the call. "Father," he greeted.

"Spock," Ambassador Sarek replied. Jim resisted the urge to look at Spock's father. "You appear to be in good health. How are your studies?"

"They are continuing at an adequate pace. My grades continue to impress my teachers and prod them to congratulate me upon my excellent research. Though, the paper my teacher of Psychology assigned to us forty-nine days ago presented a challenge when she assigned it approximately twenty-four hours before the time it was due." Jim stared at Spock, open-mouthed. So this is where you get to say all of this stuff?, he mouthed. Spock nodded slightly.

Sarek "hmm"-ed. "I should have a word with the Board of Education about such events. It is beneficial for students to require at least nine hours of sleep. When a paper is assigned and due in such a short period of time, the students are unable to work at their full potential if they hand in the assignment at the time it is due." If it was possible, Jim's jaw dropped even more.

"I believe my classmates would appreciate it if you did, Father. As would I," Spock added after a nudge on his leg from Jim.

The ambassador turned his head slightly to listen to something behind him. "Spock, your mother has expressed a desire to speak with you. I will allow her to." He got up and Amanda Grayson took his place.

"Oh look at you," she began fondly. "You've grown a lot since I last saw you, Spock." Amanda turned to her husband. "Go, entertain your guests. Do whatever it is you do when your wife and son are speaking." She waited until her husband left the room to turn back to the computer. "Good. Now, Spock: who is he?"

Spock raised a quizzical eyebrow. "To whom are you referring, Mother?"

Amanda rolled her eyes. "I'm not as oblivious as I look, Spock. I'm talking about your roommate. You haven't mentioned him at all." Here she began to look a bit pleased. "You've opened up a bit more emotionally since you two met."

Jim popped his head into frame. "He has?"

The dark brunette looked surprised to see Jim. "James T. Kirk," she said after a long look at him. "Long time no see, Mister Kirk." This time Spock raised his eyebrow at his roommate. "Oh, Spock, sweetie, remember when you were at boarding school and I followed your father around, teaching wherever I could?" Spock nodded. "Well, we were in Iowa and I taught at this little school in the middle of nowhere." She nodded, reminiscing. "Jim there was the local heartthrob." Amanda looked back at Jim. "I hope you've changed, Jim. Spock doesn't need his heart broken."

Spock looked at Jim, who was gaping at the raven's mother. "I-I swear I have, Mrs. Grayson." He glanced at his roommate, wincing a little. "I may have said your mom was hot at one point," he whispered apologetically. If it was possible, Spock's eyebrow raised even higher. "Sorry."

"Mother, I would appreciate it if you refrained from tormenting Jim. I do believe it would have negative results on my current relationship with him." Jim smacked Spock's arm, making Amanda raise her eyebrows in an excellent imitation of her husband and son.

"Oh? And what relationship would that be?" Amanda crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair.

Jim glared at Spock, telling him through telekinesis not to tell his mother their relationship. "Perhaps another time, Mother," Spock dodged. Amanda took that as "a time where she and Spock were talking and Jim was otherwise occupied, probably halfway across campus". "Until then, please accept is as a friendship." The dark brunette nodded, believing her son was telling the truth. Well, part of the truth anyway.

"Fine. I wouldn't want you getting into trouble on my behalf." Amanda smiled, unable to keep a straight face as a theory formed in her mind. "Jim, dear," she said, coming back to the present. "I've been trying to get Spock to buy something from the college gift shop, but he won't do it. Would you be so kind as to buy me something from there?"

The dirty blonde could tell when he was being sent away, and this was a time when he actually wanted to get away. "Sure, Mrs. Grayson. Will a sticker be okay?" Amanda nodded, and Jim stood, his eyes resting on Spock. "I'll be back soon," he promised, squeezing the raven's hand gently before leaving the room.

When Spock looked back at his mother, Amanda was giving him a knowing look. "You let him touch your hand. Deliberately," she added when Spock flushed a little.

"You understand that Jim has a certain reputation that follows him. Nyota is under the current impression that he has, in her words, grown up since we have become friends."

Amanda refrained from either snorting or scoffing. "That was far more than friendship that I just saw, Spock. Remember, I've been married to your father for twenty-five years. He's the one you got the sensitive hands from, not me. So - boyfriend? Or in the denial phase?" She leaned back in her chair, her arms crossed.

Spock's blush grew. "Boyfriend."

Grinning, Amanda leaned back in her chair. "Sarek, you owe me twenty bucks!" She looked back at the computer to see Spock staring at her, his mouth hanging open dumbly, his cheeks very pink.

"You and Father had a wager on whether I was in a romantic relationship with my roommate or not?!"

Amanda laughed, the look on Spock's face too much to bear. "No, sweetie," she said after a few minutes. "I was joking. Though I wouldn't put it past your father to theorize such a thing between the two of you. I mean, Spock, you never mention him, ever." The brunette stuck her hand out behind her when she stopped talking and Sarek walked into the room, placed a twenty dollar bill in his wife's hand, and walked out of the room. "So, what's he like? And no, I don't mean like that." Amanda leaned on her hands, her elbows on the desk in front of the computer monitor.

Spock stared at his mother. "You and Father made a wager on whether I was in a romantic relationship with my roommate or not." Amanda rolled her eyes.

"No, Spock. I just made a wager with him betting that I could make you say that. And it works," she added, waving the twenty. "Now that we're past that point, what's Jim like? I haven't seen him since, ooh, middle school, high school."

"He is very intelligent, stubborn, and has a strong sense of justice." Amanda nodded. She could tell that beneath the rude vibe he gave off.

"Hmm, he sounds like you." Spock nodded, making Amanda smile fondly at him. "You really like him, don't you?" The raven turned back to the computer screen, trying to read his mother's face. "It's obvious from the way you talk about him," Amanda continued. "You respect him, but there's a lot of affection in your words when you were describing him just now." She suddenly wished she could be there with Spock in person. "Just so you know, your father and I will love you no matter what decision you make." The brunette turned her head at the sound of her husband's voice. "Coming Sarek!" Amanda turned back to her son. "Duty calls." She paused for a moment. "Take care of yourself." She then looked around Spock to the door. "And Jim? Take care of yourself too." With a kiss, Amanda ended the video call.

Spock turned around in his chair to look at his door. "You may enter, Jim." Sheepishly, he did.

Jim held up a bumper sticker weakly. "I got your mom a sticker."

The raven nodded. "I thank you for saving me the effort."

A/N: Now I'm gonna go hide in a corner because I wrote this one like FOREVER ago. And I haven't changed it since.
