Chapter 14: Relationships and Honesty
Becky came down the stairs, eyes focused on the novel she had in her hand, quickly flipping to the page she needed and sat down on the couch. Just then her mother walked through the door. "I am so sick of this," She began, clearly annoyed as she shut the door behind her. "Your dad is not leaving that greasy engine out on the lawn for one more day. It's starting to attract stupid guys in t-shirts." The older woman said, as she walked behind the couch.
Becky turned towards her and said a concerned look on her face. "I wouldn't bother him right now, Mom. He's real upset because Grandma called and she needs money from us."
"Well we are not giving that crazy woman anymore of our money." Roseanne responded firmly, "Last time we did that she spent it on Deon Warrick and her Physic friends."
Their conversation was then interrupted when D.J came in from being outside, grabbed a Superman comic book off the coffee table, and sat down putting his muddy shoes up on the couch. "D.J, your shoes are caked with mud get them off my couch." Roseanne said irritated.
"Okay." D.J then said smiling as he moved his feet from the couch onto the coffee table, keeping his eyes on the open comic he had in his hands. Becky turned her eyes from her brother to her mother, watching as she walked from behind the couch towards the young boy "You know, D.J this rebellious phase you're going through," Roseanne paused briefly, gently kicking his legs off the coffee table. "Is over."
"Go take off those muddy shoes." She said, her voice calm yet commanding. The dark-haired boy began making his way towards the back door, when Dan suddenly appeared "Roseanne, we have to talk about my mother." He said, making both Becky and Roseanne make their way towards the kitchen. Becky leaned comfortably against the archway, quietly observing
"All right, you want to talk we'll talk."
Roseanne sat down in one of the kitchen chairs, taking off her coat as Dan began speaking. "Now I have something to tell you, and I don't want any grief you understand?" He said his voice firm, letting her right now what he had to say was serious. "My dad missed an alimony payment, I got to give my mom some money and I'm not talking about $10 or $20 bucks here, it's more like $400."
"Well, God, Dan. I mean, it is your mother do you think I'd object? What kind of person do you think I am?"
Dan lets out a sigh,
"I'm sorry, It's just…I am so upset with my dad. Why the hell can't he ever just be man?" He says then storming off towards the bedroom. "Well, gee Mom you sure handled him." Becky said sarcastically as she approached the table, sitting near her mother.
"Well, Becky you really have to look at the big picture. Now your father is in a bad mood and he just wants a target and I am not going to be that. Instead he will yell at somebody else, blow off some steam and then I will go at him." Roseanne tells her, just then D.J walks in through the back door
"Okay, Mom I took off my shoes." He lays the muddy sneakers on the table, smiling confidently at her.
Roseanne stared at him for moment, before she then said, "You are just so clever D.J. You outwit me at every turn I just don't even know what to say."
"Thanks." He replied, failing to catch the sarcasm in her voice.
"Could you do your old stupid mother a favor?" She started, "Would you go ask your Dad to move his engine off the front lawn." She grabbed his shoes by the laces and carefully removed them from the table and onto the floor.
"Sure" D.J replied, shrugging his shoulders. Roseanne the turns towards Becky and smiles as D.J walks away; blissfully unaware of what awaits him as he heads towards the bedroom.
Later that evening, Roseanne sits on the couch watching TV when suddenly the door opens. It's Jackie and Fred. "You're late." Roseanne said, teasingly "Well, we would have been here sooner had she not spent so much time putting on the make-up." Fred said, carefully holding the portable car seat in his arms.
"Well, it's a little hard to apply eyeliner when something is suckling at your boob." Jackie responds, looking at her sister. Roseanne smiles, "I know that is why I make Dan dress in the other room." The older woman then replied.
Jackie walks over to Fred and takes the car seat out of his arms. "Oh, come here baby. I am just going to top him off." She then walks back into the bedroom, Fred briefly followed after her stopping behind the couch. "We really appreciate you watching him for us, Roseanne." He said, running his hand slightly over the crochet blanket "Lately, it's been hard for us to get any time together."
"Yeah, who would have thought a screaming, leaking bundle of smells would kill the romance."
"I don't think it's the baby," Fred walked around and sits down on the couch, "I just think it is just Jackie is a little hard to get close to." He said, before he then added "I mean I know she hasn't had a lot of experience with men-"
Roseanne's let out a laugh, cutting him off in mid sentence. "What?" Fred asks, not understanding her response. Dan then walks in the room "Hey." He then announced, making Fred and look at him briefly before turning back to Roseanne "So, Fred." Roseanne began, as Dan sat down in his recliner chair. "You're worried that Jackie hasn't had a lot of experience with men."
Dan snorts, turning his head away trying to hide his amused expression with his hand. Fred shifts on the couch, keeping his eyes on Dan. "That's right" He answered, still not understanding what was going on.
"Roseanne, can you come here for a minute?" Jackie called from the bedroom. Roseanne then patted Fred's leg as she then rose from the couch. "Well, trust me Fred you've got nothing to worry about." She said, "Jackie knows her way around a man. We could blind fold her and she could take one a part and put him back together again." Fred and Dan keep their attention on her as she walks from the living room and into the bedroom.
"So Fred, you and Jackie dropping the baby off here and going out on a date," Dan started a smile on his face. "Are things getting serious between you two?" He then teased, slapping the other man's leg.
Fred did not respond, instead he asked, "Has she really been out with a lot of guys?"
Dan sighed, "Oh Fred. When doing a background check on a girlfriend, it's rarely a good idea to ask the brother in law especially when his wife is the hand fisted Roseanne." Before Dan could say anything else, Roseanne and Jackie reentered the room. This time it was Roseanne holding the baby.
"Bye, bye sweetie." Jackie kissed her son's head
"We should go." She said and Fred got up from the couch and head towards the door. "See you later." Fred said with a smile, as he then shut the door.
"I got to get to Mom's." Dan said, looking briefly at his watch
"Well, don't you want to play with a few minutes first?" Roseanne asked
"All right," He said, and Roseanne carefully moved the baby from her arms to Dan's. Roseanne walked around the chair and began gently massaging her husband's shoulders. "Oh this is nice." He said, smiling.
"God, Dan when I look at him I think anything is possible. He could be president someday." She said, "Remember when we used to have hopes for our own kids?" Dan did not answer her; he was busy making silly faces at the baby. "Kind of relaxed there, huh?"
"Yeah"
"That's good," Roseanne said, before she stopped massaging his shoulders "I don't want you to give your mother any money."
"Roseanne we've been over this."
"Well, Dan she is just going to do something loopy with it." She said, making Dan roll his eyes. "She needs the money." His tone was firm,
"Well, I did not know that we don't need it, Dan."
"She was crying again"
"Of course, she was crying, Dan. She cries all the time. She cries when people lose on Star Search."
"This is different." Dan responded as he got up from his chair
"Can't you get your Dad to pay it?"
"My Dad doesn't care about my Mom so it's up to me."
"Well, you know if he doesn't, of course we'll help her out. I always believed in sticking by your family. But you know this is a last resort."
Andy wakes up and begins to cry
"Take the baby back, he's wet."
"No, you touched him last." Roseanne said, walking away from him
At the Royal Arms, Jackie and Fred are escorted to their table "This is the nicest place anyone's ever taken me."
"Well, you deserve it. Anyone who gives birth to a child of mine gets a free meal." Fred said, pulling out her chair for her. "Oh, I am glad that I had your child then because some of the guys I dated, I would be lucky to get a bowl of pretzels and a beer at the Lobo." Jackie chuckled, as Fred sat down and the waiter gave them each their menus.
"So you had a lot of dates at the Lobo?"
"Oh boy, did I?" She smiles, she then looks at the menu "Oh, look they have dancing on Fridays."
"Hey, that's nice. A lot of guys wouldn't like to go dancing." Fred said, looking briefly at his menu before looking over to her. "Have a lot of guys taken you dancing?" He asked, hoping to find out more information about her.
"Yeah" She responded, looking at him for a moment before looking back at the menu again.
"The same guys who took you to the Lobo or a whole fresh batch?"
Jackie gave him a curious look
"Are you trying to ask me something?" She asked, as the waiter came back and placed two glasses of water and a basket of rolls in front of them. "No no not really." Fred said, trying to act nonchalant about the whole thing. "Well, Fred come on you can ask me anything. I mean you have seen me in the most embarrassing position imaginable." She said, reassuring him
"Well, okay," He started, clearing his throat "How many men did you date before we met?"
"Well, you mean dated at all or dated seriously?" She asked
"I mean seriously."
"Ok I would have to say just a few…"
"Good." He smiled, "It's not that a mind that you slept with a lot of guys."
"Oh well slept with" Jackie chuckled, making him raise his eyebrows in interest "That's not what you asked me." She said, after taking a drink of water and setting it back on the table.
"No, I guess it wasn't."
"Fred don't worry that's not that many." She told him, smiling "I would say three a year."
"Since what you were eighteen?"
"Okay, we'll go with that." Jackie replied after a brief silence.
"Oh wow,"
"Fred, that's not that many." She said becoming a bit annoyed "Three a year for twenty years is sixty, wow." Jackie never did the calculations before and was amazed at the number.
"God," He started, "I don't even know sixty people."
"Well, I didn't know all of them." Jackie answered irritated,
"You men have such a double standard, I am sure you slept with a ton of women." She tore a roll in half and began applying butter to it.
"Three." He answered
"Three?" She asked perplexed "Three, huh?"
Fred nodded
"Just the three?"
"Yep, just the three." He said, with a smile
Jackie gave him a serious look before turning her focus back on her roll "Well, does it bother you that I've been…active?"
"Oh, look let's just talk about something else" Fred waved his hand dismissively, not wanting to get into an argument over this. "I got a better idea let's not talk at all." She said calmly, popping a piece of roll in her mouth.
"Hi," A bald waiter with glasses said as he passed by, Jackie nodded her acknowledgment at him. This made Fred look at her somewhat suspiciously.
"No, I haven't had him." She said, knowing what he was thinking. Both Fred and Jackie spent the rest of the time through dinner in silence, every so often one of them would make a comment about the food and the other would respond, but otherwise they did not talk.
Darlene lay stretched out across her bed, reading quietly to herself when there was a knock on the door. "Come in" She said, her eyes never leaving her book. The door opened and Roseanne walked into the room. "Hey," The older woman spoke, closing the door behind her.
"Hey" Darlene responded, looking at her now.
"Are you busy?" Roseanne asked walking towards her daughter, stopping in the middle of the room.
"No," The teen shook her head "What's up?" She asked, setting her book a side and she sat up, crossing her legs Indian style.
"Well," Roseanne started "I was talking with Charlotte today at the Lunch Box and she told me there is going to be a Valentine's Day Dance at school and that it takes place next Saturday."
Darlene shrugged her shoulders
"So?"
"So, I was wondering if you planned to go."
Darlene looked at her with furrowed brows
"What? No. Why would I want to go to something like that?"
"Because it would be fun," Roseanne said, trying to encourage her daughter.
"Then why don't you go?" Darlene asked annoyed, getting up from the bed. As she headed towards the door, Roseanne spoke up "Darlene, wait" The teenage girl stopped and turned towards the older woman, arms folded and an annoyed look on her face.
"Look," She started, rising up from the bed and walk over to her daughter. "It has been over a month since you've been home, and let's be real here you really haven't left the house unless it is to go to school or to go to the Tilden's to do your assignment with Molly."
"Well, gee I wonder why that was." Darlene said, pretending to think "Oh yeah, that's right. When I arrived home I was not just grounded, but I was put under house arrest, unless I was going to school or going to the Tilden's to work on my assignment. That sound about right, mother?" She said sarcastically
"Okay, so your Dad and I set rules-" She started, but when she saw the look Darlene was giving her she then said, "All right, I set rules but I did it because I thought that it would teach you about respect. And it has, you have you done well with school and you completing your chores so I think you earned some of your freedom back." Roseanne said her tone and expression were serious.
Darlene looked at her confused
"What are you saying?"
"I am saying if you want to go out on weekends you can."
"You meant it?" Darlene asked a small smile on her face.
"Yes, I know I cut back on your chores to where you would only have to do them five days a week, leaving the weekends free, but I never told you that you could go out if you wanted to." Roseanne told her "Thank you, Mom that really means a lot." Darlene said, nodding her head
"Well, you deserve it." Roseanne replied, offering her a smile. There was brief silence between them before Roseanne spoke again, "I know things have been hard for you since David has been gone, but that does not mean you shouldn't go to the dance…"
"Mom, this doesn't have anything to do with David…" Darlene protested, not in the mood to get into this again. "Of course it does what else could it be? Look, Darlene just because you guys broke up does not mean you should just give up. Go out and have fun, who knows maybe you will meet someone new at this dance…"
"Mom, drop it please." Darlene pleaded; "I already told you I am not going; now I don't want to talk about this anymore." She said angrily. Just as Roseanne went to open her mouth to retort both women heard a voice call out, "Roseanne? Roseanne, where are you? I need to talk to you!"
It was Jackie
"I better get going, your Aunt Jackie is back from her date and I want to see how it went." Roseanne turned on her heel and made her way to the front door. "If you change your mind about the dance, let me know." With no more words, Roseanne left leaving Darlene feeling frustrated.
Crystal Conner came down the stairs the next morning when she heard the door bell buzzed. "Dan, oh, my goodness, come in." She smiled as she opened the door. "Come in." She stepped aside as Dan walked through the door "Well, I suppose it's okay that you see me in my personals, I mean we are family." She said, following him into the living room
"Yeah, I keep forgetting that." Dan smiled. Just then Ed Conner walked out of the kitchen, "Is that Danny Conner? Stopping by at 9 A.M?" He asked, glancing briefly at his watch. He then walked over to his son "What do you need? Morning Google?" He laughed, as he began tickling Dan who laughed. Ed then pulled his son into a hug, after a few seconds the two men pulled apart. "You want some breakfast? I got pancakes hot off the griddle?"
"No, thanks I just ate." Dan replied, patting his stomach.
"This will be dessert. I've got some pure maple syrup I picked up when I came through Vermont." His father then disappeared in the kitchen, leaving Dan and Crystal alone. "You know, Dan it's really wonderful for you to stop by like this. It really does Ed good."
"Well, nothing I like better than doing Ed good." He said his tone emotionless.
"Oh, now, Dan I'm serious." Crystal said, "Ed is always saying he wishes he could see you more often."
"Here you go, son." Ed said bringing out a plate of pancakes and a cup of coffee. "Haul down on some of that." He set the items down on the table as Dan pulled out a chair "Thanks, Dad." Dan then sat down and began cutting a piece of pancake.
"Well, I am sure you boys have lots to talk about." Crystal smiled "Yeah, woman get back in that kitchen. Your men are getting hungry again." Ed said, as his wife disappeared pushed on the door and disappeared into the kitchen. Meanwhile, Dan had dipped some of the pancake into the maple syrup and popped it in his mouth. "Mmm, man." Dan said, looking up at his Dad "That's good syrup."
"You want a jug? I have plenty." Ed said, thumbing towards the kitchen. "No, thanks Dad." Dan smiled, taking a sip of his coffee. There was a brief silence between the two men as Ed then sat down at the table. Dan looked at his father for a moment, "Look, I talked with Mom."
"Yeah? How is she?" Ed asked as he then got up from the table and disappeared into the kitchen. Dan stared at the door for a moment, before looking away feeling slightly annoyed at his father's lack of concern for his mother. "She's fine." He said, firmly. "She says you owe her some money." Dan got up from his chair and stood waiting for his Dad to return.
"Yeah, well, uh" Ed started, coming back out, carrying a tin can of pure maple syrup in his hand. "I talked to her Danny, and I am going to take care of it." He set the tin can on the table and then turned back to his son. "Is that boy of yours still playing Hockey?"
"When Dad?" Dan asked, ignoring his father's question. "I said I would take care of it."
"Look, I am going over there tonight. I am going to give her the $400 dollars that you owe her. Are
You going to give me the money or is it going to come out of my pocket?"
"Danny," Ed started "I already talked the situation over with your Mom." He spoke slowly and carefully, a serious look on his face. "What situation?" Dan asked, Ed placed a hand on his forehead, he knew this was not going to end well but he figured he had to explain this best way he could to avoid another tired argument with his son.
"Well," He started, "It hasn't been a really great year, okay? I mean I hit a flat patch, the office doesn't want to send me out as much anymore." He said, moving away from the kitchen and into the living room. "I've got a new family here." The older man added, gesturing to his step son and children upstairs sleeping. "Tough." Dan said, unmoved by his father's words. "You have old responsibilities."
"Danny," Ed started, "Are you going to make speech? Because if you are, I think we should get some lawn chairs, we'll call the neighbors-" He said, making a motion towards the door. Dan could feel his temper slipping as he then interrupted his Dad. "No, I am not going to make speech," He told him, "What I am going to do is try to remind you of your obligations!" He shouted, "I shouldn't have to do that, you're a grown a man!"
Ed put his hands trying to calm his son, "Can you just calm down?" He asked calmly. Dan lowered the volume slightly when he then said, "Dad, she was crying on the phone!"
"Danny, that's her way."
"Not like this." The younger man said firmly, "She was crying so hard I couldn't understand her."
"Ok, sometimes your mother she gets very emotional and everything kind of gets out of perspective you know? I mean, Danny women have a tendency to do that, you know?"
"Women have a tendency to get upset when you treat them like crap."
Ed looked at his son with pleading eyes
"You know your mother," He started once more, "This is not about money, Danny. You know sometimes you're talking to her…and she is just not all there."
"Hey, hey" Dan said, walking away from Ed "There is nothing wrong with, Mom." He said, pointing a finger at him.
"I didn't say there is anything wrong with her. Who said there was something wrong with your Mom?"
"You know, that she's had it hard."
"I know that," Ed said defensively
"This kind of stuff is not good for her. Dan said, firmly
"Danny," He began, "if I could help her I would." Ed said, sounding defeated. He knew no matter what he said that he was not going to win with Dan. He had formed his opinion of him a long time ago and that was not about to change. He had hoped over the years that he would let go of his grudges and they could start a new but it seemed like new circumstances always came up that caused Dan to bring up the past all over again.
Dan nodded his head, "Yeah, Roseanne said you might be willing to clean up your own mess but I told her she was wrong." He then began to walk towards the front door, "Come on, Danny, don't leave mad." Ed said, walking after his son. "I'm not mad, I'm not mad." Dan said, dismissively putting up his hand. "One thing about you, Dad is you'll never let me down." With no more words, Dan slammed the door leaving Ed standing there staring at the place where his son had stood.
Later that evening at Jackie's, she was rocking Andy in his baby rocker when suddenly the door bell rang. She walked over and answered the door to find Fred standing there. "Hey Jackie" He greeted her, waving briefly. "Hello" She replied softly, as she then walked away and back over to the baby.
"You're still mad, huh?" He asked, stepping inside and shut the door behind him.
"Oh I'm not mad Jim, oh I'm sorry Fred." She said, rocking the baby gently back and forth. "There are so many of you I get confused."
"Look, Jackie we need to discuss this."
"What's to discuss? I slept with sixty men" Jackie then took a brief pause and said, "Most of them separately." Roseanne walked out of the kitchen, carrying two cups of coffee. "I can vouch for that, I was there that night selling tickets." She told him, setting the two cups down on the table.
"Will you stop giving me a hard time; I'm just trying to accept this." Fred said, trying to rationalize with her. The baby then woke up and started crying "Fred, of all the men I slept with and all the things I have done in my past have made the person that I am today." Jackie explained as she then picked up the baby and began trying to calm him. "The person you are supposedly in love with."
"I know that but all I'm trying-" He began to protest, but was then interrupted when Jackie said, "But nothing we are suppose to be adults, and you know what really ticks me off Fred is that I was honest with you and you didn't even appreciate it and instead you are punishing me."
"Oh look for god sakes, Jackie" Fred started, cringing at her words. "I'm not punishing you I'm just trying to be honest with how I feel about this." Roseanne then appeared at his side and chimed in "Well, I think you're both a couple of idiots." This made Fred become quiet and turn his focus on her "Sorry, I thought we were being honest." She said, shrugging slightly
"Baby what's the matter?" Jackie asked the infant as she bounced him up and down, still trying to calm him down. "What do you mean 'What's the matter?' can't you imagine how scary this is for him? The big fuzzy thing is yelling at the milk machine." Roseanne said, looking from Jackie over at Fred.
Jackie then got up off the couch, softly trying to sooth the baby. "You know, I'm through discussing it Fred the next words I want to hear from you are an apology."
"Well, I'm not going to apologize for the way that I feel." He said, defensively
"Then I don't have anything to say to you." She said, stubbornly.
"Jackie!" Roseanne said, giving her sister a narrowed look
"Just stay out of it Roseanne, I don't need your kind of help I am trying to form an honest, solid relationship with the father of my child." Jackie then shifted her focus from her sister to Fred and said, "Get the hell out of my way." He rolled his eyes and stepped aside so she could pass, he then made an attempted to go after her as she went into the nursery but stopped midway and groaned, "Am I nuts, Roseanne? Wouldn't this bother Dan?" He said turning towards the dark-haired woman.
"Not at all, Dan knows how many men that Jackie has slept with." She told him
"Come on' Roseanne if Dan found out that you slept with a lot of guys, he would be upset."
"No, Fred I really don't think he would," Roseanne said honestly, "You know, because we have know each other a lot longer and Dan knows he doesn't have anything to worry about."
"Hey, hey I'm not worried. This is not about me being insecure." Fred said, putting up his hands
"No, of course not," Roseanne began, folding her arms "Because you have no reason to be insecure Jackie's in love with you." Fred became quiet at what she said, looking down at the ground "I know." He told her
"And she had your kid" Roseanne then added, firmly.
Fred just looked at her quietly
"And, uh," Roseanne trailed slightly as she then glanced back in the nursery to see if Jackie was coming. "She also told me that you're the best lover she has ever had." She said, once again looking back briefly in the nursery to make sure Jackie hadn't heard her before turning her focus back at Fred. A smile cracked on Fred's face "No" He laughed bashfully
"Yeah, and that's the best of sixty."
"Well, that is a lot of guys." Fred said, leaning against the couch his smile never fading.
"Yeah, but that really doesn't make any difference to you does it, Fred?"
"Yeah, right." He replied, acting nonchalant
Jackie walked out of the bedroom and into the living room, passing by Fred and Roseanne. "I forgot his binky." She said, angry. Jackie picked up the binky and began making her way towards the bedroom again when Fred stopped her. "Jackie," He started, gently grabbing hold of her arm "Wait a minute." He then turned towards Roseanne.
"Roseanne, can you give us a second?" He asked
"Sure, I know you don't need my help. I know your building an honest, solid relationship." She said, walking over and Jackie handed the binky to her. Afterwards, Roseanne walked back into the nursery, giving the two some privacy.
"Jackie, I'm sorry." Fred apologized, sincerely
"So, you're okay with this?" She asked, nodding her head.
"No, of course I am, I wasn't that upset about it." He told her reassuringly,
"You weren't?" She asked
"No, how insecure do you think I am?" Fred asked, his eyebrows rutting together. The most important thing is that we were open and honest with each other." He told her genuinely. "Fred, oh you're the best." She said, throwing her arms around his neck. Fred chuckled as he wrapped his arms around and said, "Well, you don't have to say it." He said, smiling
Later that night at the Conner household, Roseanne was sitting on the couch, reading a magazine with her bare feet propped up on the table. She heard the back door slam and she turned to see Dan in the kitchen. "Well, so your back." Roseanne said, making Dan stop and look at her. "You know, Crystal brought by a whole case of maple syrup," She said, tossing the magazine on the coffee table "You think we can get $400 bucks for it?"
"Look, Roseanne I'm kind of tired." He answered, his hands planted on his hips
"What did your mom do when you gave her the money? Did she do what she did last night and wash each and every bill?"
"I didn't give her the money I had to take her to the hospital." He told her, making Roseanne then get up from the couch and walk over to him. "Oh, my god well is she okay?"
"Yeah, I guess, I don't know." He said, shaking his head and looking down at the ground.
"Well, did she have an accident or something?"
"
"It's not that kind of hospital." He told her, walking out of the archway. "What are you talking about?" Roseanne asked as he passed her and over to back of the couch. "When, I got there she was sitting outside in the rain. I don't even think she knew who I was." He paused for a moment, before walking over to sit on the couch. "One of the doctors thought she might be a danger to herself."
Roseanne sighed and walked around to sit on the couch, "Well, is she going to be okay? I mean, god this is so weird. Did you have any idea about this happening at all?" She then asked as she sat down beside him on the couch. "I don't know." He responded, a vacant expression on his face.
The dark-haired woman sighed once more and looked at her husband, "I don't know what to say." Dan did not respond for a few moments. "I'm okay." He finally said, getting up from the couch.
"Well, did you get anything to eat? Did you have dinner? You want me to make you something?" She asked a concerned look on her face.
"No, no." He told her and looks down at the ground. He is silent for a few moments and Roseanne gets up off the couch "God," She starts, "God, honey, I am so sorry." She goes to hug him and he pulls away at the last minute "I'm just…I'm going to go to bed." He said, calmly walking around the couch and into their bedroom, leaving Roseanne feeling worried and unsure of what to do.
A/N: Well, that is it or Chapter 14. So what did you guys think? This is by far the longest chapter I have ever written and I'm proud of what I accomplished with it. I feel I successfully intertwined my own material, however small, into the actual story of the series. Let me know what you guys think, I am interested in reading your thoughts. Thanks again and stay tuned for Chapter 15 coming soon.
