I've finally updated another story, yay! I thought I'd have loads more time since I've finished my exams but I still have to return for another month and do preparation work for year 13 which is really time-consuming and I've been getting a ton of homework on top of that which is so unfair, so I'm updating as soon as I can, please don't hate me. I started this chapter straight after I posted the previous one and I've been writing bits and pieces during my free time which is pretty much non-existent so please bare with me, I'm trying my best. I finish school next Friday and I'm going to do most of my writing next weekend for the stories that I haven't yet updated, however for the entirety of the week after I'll be at a summer school so I don't think I'll be able to update but I'll try my best.

I hope you enjoy this chapter and please review, tell me what you think, am I drawing it out too much? Or not enough?

"I hope for your sake and mine that she's ok." She said with hard as steel voice, she took a step around him before stilling and turning her face to him, "do not take my past actions as a misguided sign of loyalty towards you, Elijah." With that she flashed out of the compound leaving behind a guilty and stunned Elijah who looked up to see his younger brother regarding him with a light smirk.

"I'm guessing the lover's reunion didn't go well…" Elijah gritted his teeth before losing all false facades to allow his body to sag against the doorframe with a heavy heart within his chest.

"You could say that…"

"So what are you planning next?" The ebony woman asked, her fingers running along the black cracked wooden tabletop which was covered in a light sheen of dust. Mikael sat in his chair lazily with his eyes closed as he tapped the arm of the chair missing the beat of the clock ticking. "If you don't act soon all hope will be lost-"

"Hope!-"He scoffed as his eyes opened and he took a deep breath.

"-and you won't be able to remain on this side once the blue moon has passed. If the child is not killed then you will never return or be able to fulfill your plan." She said in a smooth tone keeping her eyes on his figure seeing the anger boiling up within him.

"I have all the time-"

"You have 3 months left" her voice was like a dagger as she openly berated him, Mikael flashed towards her towering over her petite figure however she didn't flinch as she kept her gaze on his.

"I have an eternity" he hissed wanting the woman to retreat into a shell which he could control but no such action came as her back remained straight and her face emotionless.

"Do not kid yourself, no being has 'eternity', you are a fool to think such thoughts." She stepped back cautiously as he began to smirk.

"But you're forgetting something very important…" the woman lifted her chin waiting for his next words, "…maybe you're right but I possess something which no other being does…" he lifted his finger and traced a line down her cheek before letting his next whisper fan across her face, "…you…", Mikael smirked maliciously before he sniped out his hand and wrapped his fingers around the woman's neck. He pinned her against the wall enjoying the widening of her eyes as she struggled for breath, her nails clawed at his wrists trying to get away from his grasp but he wouldn't relent. "Let me remind you, Emilia, you will help to whatever ends I need. If this takes me days, months, weeks or years you will give them to me, I do not care who faces the consequences, you will give me an eternity if I ask of it." Mikael hissed as he kept his eyes on her doe brown orbs which became bloodshot at the lack of oxygen.

Mikael pulled after giving her a final sneer allowing her to fall back against the wall as she tried to clamber back to her upright position. "I cannot-"

"You will" He said resolutely, his tone full of calmness, an eerie serenity. Emilia let her head fall back against the wall as she watched him smile casually at her before he sauntered away from her.

"How?" She asked hoarsely still recovering from the crushed windpipe, Mikael spun around to face her before glancing at the open coffin in which his child lay with a dagger through the heart.

"Well…" his eyes hardened on the body within the coffin before his lips curved up at the corners as his mind came to rest on an idea, "…I'm sure you're well acquainted with the body swap spell." His lips split to show his sharp teeth in a wide grin as he looked towards Emilia who swallowed thickly.

"You're a monster…" She whispered not being able to filter her thoughts from her mouth before she inhaled sharply as he froze mid-step before he turned slowly with a dark look on his face.

"A monster?" He tilted his head noting the sharp breathes she took under his stare, "I think you have me mistaken, Emilia, Niklaus Mikaelson is a monster, an abomination. Me on the other hand…think of me as your…savior." His mouth became a wide grin like before as he glanced from the witch trembling against the wall to the desiccating body in the coffin then turning to walk out slamming the door shut behind him.

Caroline glanced up and down the vivacious street peeking over the heads of the humans and supernatural beings passing by her. It was quite a shock to her senses, a year ago the beautiful yet naïve blonde would have walked through the crowd paying no attention to those who surrounded her but now, well, now you could say she had gained a lot of experience in the world of the supernatural. Caroline could now tell the difference between the hundreds of people flowing past her like a tidal wave, she could pick out the distinct aura coming off each person no matter how miniscule the contact/observation there was between herself and the person in question. For example, the distinct aura she picked out from the well-built yet smart brunette human male whose eyes were distinctly disorientated and the dark haired female wolf whose lips twitched and hands trembled with fear.

The blonde made her way towards them seeing them make their own way down the cobbled street into a dark alley hidden behind a red brick building known as Lust a well-known (to the supernaturals) vampire blood bar. Seeing them walk step in step together, Caroline quickened her pace subtly following their direction as she noted the two women and a male who were in turn following her footsteps.

Pretending not the notice her stalkers, Caroline ducked behind the alley to find the human man with a knife in his hand slitting the werewolves wrists who stood with her hands outstretched willingly before the man grabbed her arm pushing her through the open backdoor of Lust. Caroline followed them sidestepping the light pool of werewolf blood which trailed all the way to the door, her ears were filled with the slow, heavy beat of Teach me how to Dougie by Cali Swag. Her eyes were met with the dark interior walls of the building lined with several humans who were currently being fed on by vampires with their vampire faces fully visible to others but partially hidden by the dark lighting. Her eyes roamed over the faces of those being fed on, they looked almost in…ecstasy. She moved past them slowly keeping her ears open to the music as well as the movements of those around her and human and wolf she was following. Those who had their fangs latched into the skin of the humans were fully focused on nourishing their thirst to have any sense of the bleeding wolf walking amongst them while those who had their eyes locked onto their prey where all to fascinated in the hunt. The vampires which were well aware of those surroundings looked on in confusion wondering why the hell a human with a knife was pushing along a bleeding wolf into the enemies' lair.

Caroline's eyes ran over the dark scene, heads turning towards the middle where the man wielding the knife had stilled in the center of the room just under the colored strobe lights which gleamed across the space. The blonde felt the hair on the nape of her neck stand as the three who had been following her moved across the room form behind her as if they were assessing the scene whilst Caroline pinpointed the locations of the vampires who were tensing up as they noticed the wolf in their midst when she saw a tall women with a head full of brunette curls which was tilted as if she was intimately resting her face in the crook of the blonde haired man's neck. His arms were slowly moving to rest on her hips when she swiftly grasped his wrists and pushed them up against the wall as she pinned her body against his whilst continuously resting her face in his neck.

Caroline let a soft breath glide out between her plump lips as the woman pulled her head away from the man and pushed him to the side allowing him to stumble and collapse to a seated position on the floor against the wall. The brunette turned slowly as if she was a serpent, her hair fell away from her face to reveal the beautifully grotesque scarlet features of her vampire face and the crimson liquid which ran down her sharp fangs over her lips painting them in red to flow down the corner of her lips.

The brunette closed her eyes seemingly enjoying the pleasure she had gained from her feed wistfully unaware of the blonde vampire who was watching her with a hint of worry. Caroline stepped back into the shadow leaning against the wall keeping her eyes trained on Katherine as well as the human and wolf in the center. Katherine eyed a muscly human man who was absent of a shirt showing off his defined torso, his eyes fell on Katherine's meeting hers with a hint of fear but a whole lot of acceptance as if he knew what was about to happen. He straightened his shoulders and inhaled, a smirk crossed Katherine's lips as she licked the remnants of blood from her mouth as she made her way towards the human when she slowed to a stop as her dark brown eyes fell on the two new incomers, the wolf and brunette human. Her orbs darkened with a sinister smirk as she redirected herself towards the bar.

"A bloody Mary." She demanded keeping her eyes focused on the pair in the center who automatically tensed as they heard her order. Caroline's eyes narrowed wondering what was going to happen next, out of the corner of her eyes she saw Katherine grab her glass which was filled with a mix of tequila and blood before raising it towards the human and wolf in a gesture of cheers. Caroline's eyebrow peaked as she looked at the human who stepped in front of the wolf girl and began twirling the knife in his hand. The blonde began moving towards the two sensing the oncoming slaughter which was about to happen in the middle of a vampire feeding ground at the command of Katherine Pierce.

Caroline felt a few vampires become aware of the situation and begin to stand in question to what was happening as they watched the human turn the knife towards the wolf and plunge it towards her heart as she remained frozen in the spot, Caroline saw the malicious smirk on Katherine's lips as she watched awaiting the outcome, Caroline's senses picked out the three people who had been following her and realized they were wolves as they began moving closer towards the girl in the middle. Just as the knife was about to pierce into the wolf's chest, the blonde flashed towards them and grabbed the serrated blade halting in it's path and pulling it out of the human's grasp. His eyes widened but before he could react, Caroline caught his eyes with hers.

"You will forget this place, you will forget this situation and you will forget any previous compulsion you've been under. You will go back outside and go home." Caroline blinked severing the connection allowing him to walk out of the bar with no recollection of the situation he was in, her eyes followed him out making sure that no vampire mistook him as one of the human workers in the bar whilst also noting the eerie similarities of the brunette to a certain Original who liked to dress in designer suits.

Caroline glanced at Katherine whose smirk had fallen into an expressionless face before she downed the drink disappointed in her failed plan. The blonde turned swiftly grabbing the girl' arm and leading her out of the bar only to be stopped by a group of vampires who had seen the scene unfold, the 5 men eyed the wolf baring their fangs and allowing the veins beneath their eyes to ripple crimson as the one at the front smirked cockily.

"And where do you think you're going, Barbie?" The men sniggered as well as a few women who overheard him. The music began dying down as everyone's focus fell on Caroline and the brunette wolf she was holding. Vampires who were in the middle of feeding unlatched their fangs and pulled away wondering what was happening, the music was at a low as vampires from every direction looked on, some in confusion as to why a wolf was in a vampire bar, some in excitement with the same reason.

"Just stepping outside for a bit with my friend, now if you don't mind…" Caroline stepped forward but was refused exit as the vampires remained firm on their spot.

"She's a werewolf." One of them said stating the obvious to all. Caroline glanced at the girl besides her knowing full well what she was, the blonde could sense the fear radiating off her, the girl was barley 19 years old, the blonde glanced around herself noting that all the vampires had turned towards them, some began standing from their seats whilst others gravitated towards them. Caroline turned back to face those in front of her and smirked but kept her grip on the girl hoping no fool would try to forcefully take her.

"And I'm a vampire. You're point being…" Caroline tried to stall as her mind ran through hundreds of possibilities of getting out of the situation in hand without getting the girl or anyone else killed. The man, who Caroline noticed was cockier than the rest, chuckled heartily glancing around him. He reminded her of Marcel in some ways, the cockiness he exhumed which Caroline had seen first-hand in the early months of when she had first arrived in New Orleans. The man stepped closer watching the fear build up in the wolf's eyes before looking at the blonde.

"Wolves are not allowed in here. In fact, they're not allowed anywhere near the Quarter. The scum are supposed to be resting in their graves six feet under." He lowered his tone with a wide grin on his face, "Now how 'bout you step aside, girly, and we'll take care of this one. In fact we'll even give your name to the king himself in aid of getting rid of these vile creatures." Caroline pursed her lips as she sensed the three wolves who had followed her tense, their breaths were caught in their throats. The blonde could see the reflection in the mirrored wall, she felt a sense of familiarity to one of them, the woman who stood just a few feet away with streaks of electric blue hair running through her black locks, her eyes were set on the wolf girl that Caroline held. The blonde took a peek at the wolf with blood still flowing from her wrist over her hands and recognized the similarity. Great, they're probably sisters. As if you thought this was going to be easy. Squinting slightly, Caroline also noticed something else…she looks a bit like Hayley, coincidence much Katherine?

Focusing back on the man, "The King?" Caroline asked withholding the smile which threatened to grace her lips, the man sighed.

"Klaus Mikaelson" Caroline nodded glad that that was the answer, at least Klaus wouldn't- couldn't- kill her if she broke the rules. Feigning a look of nervousness because…well it always is fun when others underestimate you.

"The Klaus Mikaelson?" Caroline purposely made her lip quiver in false fear. The vampires grinned at her reaction, something which Caroline took joy in- cocky bastards.

"You got it, little lady. Now step aside."

"Why?" Caroline tilted her head awaiting his answer. The man grit his teeth.

"Because it's the rules." He scowled at her for being seemingly dumb whilst Caroline was suppressing a giggle. "No magic, no wolves, no killing other vampires." He held his hand towards the wolf. "Let me dumb it down for you, blondie, this is a wolf. So we," he gestured towards himself and those surrounding her, "need to get rid of her."

Caroline moved the wolf girl behind her back partially blocking her from the man and his friends, "You wanna know a secret?" She asked with a smile, failing to keep the façade of fear up. The man rolled his eyes.

"Enlighten me." Caroline smirked.

"I'm really not one for following rules." She let the words sink in, "Now I suggest you step aside, I've just had my nails done and it'd be a shame if I had to rip out a few of your organs 'cause your pretty little head couldn't comprehend a simple instruction." The man hissed at her with his vampire features emerging as he snapped out his arm reaching for the wolf behind her who she pushed back further. "Ooooh, someone's got a temper." Caroline grinned before flashing the girl towards the human who Katherine had fed off, his body still slumped on the ground. Caroline looked around the bar making eye contact with the other werewolves who were itching to get involved but knew better than interrupt yet with at least 20 vampires to four werewolves especially with no full moon at hand.

"You're one of those 'save the wolves' preacher aren't you." A voice rang out from the crowd as they eyed the blonde who shrugged with a lazy smirk.

"I prefer the phrase 'good Samaritan' but each to their own, I suppose." Caroline retorted keeping her eyes steady on the obvious leader whilst her senses remained open to the movement from other vampires. Katherine rolled her eyes as she drowned the rest of her drink before stepping through the crowd.

"It seems you've got into quite the situation Caroline." The brunette said through clenched teeth which easily transformed into a fake smile. "Excuse my dear friend, she seems to have a few screws lose, how about letting her leave whilst you lot take care of 'Little Miss wolf'."

"How about…no." The man said as he stepped closer only to have Katherine roll her eyes at his stupidity.

"Really, you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of cupcake, she's quite the bitch, especially when someone threatens her." The vampires laughed and sniggers. "Should I mention she's also your King's advisor. Let's just say Klaus most definitely won't be happy when he finds out you've trapped his girl in here."

A murmur broke out through the group, Caroline noted the fear pass amongst some of them whilst the dirty-blonde haired wolf who had been following her stared at her with curiosity before seemingly looking down at his feet. Caroline turned her eyes back to the man in front who silenced everyone.

"Release the wolf to us and we'll have no problem, rest assured." Katherine grabbed the girl's wrist with a scowl ready to push her forward when Caroline glared at the brunette and taking the girl's blood covered hand in her own.

"How about no," Caroline looked over each vampire in turn, "Final warning, let us walk out of here or I won't be nice." The man smirked maliciously before his face became expressionless.

"Nope." The man said in an icy tone as the other vampires backed him. Caroline smirked with a shrug. Her tongue glided over her dry lips readying them for the oncoming serenade of red.

"You asked for it." Caroline murmured as she let the veins beneath her eyes ripple, they were an ash black differing from the usual red for other vampires and instead of appearing under her eyes like any other, they crawled their way down from her orbs to surround her eyes, slithering to her temples as she smirked at them. Her incisors elongated slowly coming to rest just at the lining of her lower lip. The blonde tilted her head.

"So…who's first?" The vampires looked on in fear seeing her features become visible being nothing alike to their own. "Don't be shy…" Caroline said in a low sinister tone stepping forth only to have the others shuffle back or stay frozen on their stop, "…step on up…"

"What are you…?" A whisper echoed in the silence of the bar, the humans cowered against the walls or behind the bar refusing to get involved whilst the vampires stared at her curiously.

"Wouldn't you love to know?" Caroline murmured before a growl erupted form her throat to ring through the vampires. "Not quite so cocky now, are you?" She stared at the vampire who had refused to allow her to leave, he swallowed thickly, Caroline flashed towards him throwing him to the floor before straddling his chest and pinching his tongue between her fingers as he stared at her petrified. "What's wrong…vampire got your tongue?" the blonde smirked as she looked down at him sinisterly…

The abattoir…

"What's wrong…vampire got your tongue?"Elijah heard over the phone, he glanced at his brother whose eyes were wide as he looked back, the words were followed by a few cracks, screams and shattering of glass. The brothers instantly dropped everything and flashed towards the place of destruction coming to a halt at the front door listening in to hear the shuffling of feet, scraping of chairs and the sweet melody being blasted through the closed doors.

Holy Water cannot help you now…

See I've come to burn your kingdom down…

Klaus slowly pressed his fingers against the door and pushed it open, he stepped through entering the chaos, breaking the glass beneath the soles of his shoes. He was filled with a mix of emotions.

Fear…he saw the blood staining the wooden floors, speckled in some parts whilst pooling in others.

Curiosity…Humans lining the walls, scared out of their wits but still alive as they cowered in the corners. Vampires were littered across the room, left right and center, all like stone, non-moving.

Anger…the disruption of this fine establishment and the observation of the man he knew to be Pascal Jardin, recognizing his voice from the phone call Elijah had received. The man who had threatened Caroline.

Relief…seeing Caroline stood with her back towards him and her blonde curls falling down her shoulders.

Pride…he could make out her hand wrapped around his throat as he struggled to speak, producing strained gargles in place of words.

The Hybrid stepped through the glass, closely followed by Elijah who remained composed though internally shocked at the mass destruction. Elijah's eyes fell on Katherine who didn't even spare him a glance though he noted the tension in her shoulders wondering if it was because of the situation or of his entering. His eyes lingered over her olive toned face before coming to observe the blonde haired girl with her hand wrapped around the oldest vampire in town after the Originals. 900 year old Pascal Jardin.

Klaus focused on Caroline, reading her stance. The music floated through his ears, the morbid yet melodic song gracing the room as he continued to make his way towards her. His senses picked up the wolves in the bar though he paid no full attention to them as he kept himself focused on Caroline and her actions.

And no rivers and no lakes can put the fire out…

I'm gonna raise the stakes…

I'm gonna smoke you out…

Caroline could feel the burning sensation on her back from his eyes, the tingle of her skin where the blood was speckled and the thrumming which rang in her ears from the heartbeats of those alive around her. Her eyes were fully focused on the man kneeling before her, she exercised her strength as she tightened and relaxed her grip around his neck, enjoying the gargles that escaped him. The widening of his eyes as he saw the pure fascination within her blue orbs as he looked up at her.

Seven Devils all around me…

Seven Devils in my house…

Klaus stepped cautiously besides her making the glass tinkle at his steps, his eyes never left Caroline's face as hers never left Pascal's. The hybrid spared a glance down at the man whose eyes widened as he saw Klaus observing him, his body writhed in protest in hope of…in hope of Klaus saving him? The blonde hybrid narrowed his eyes at Pascal bewildered at the sight before he looked back up at Caroline who kept her fingers clasped around his neck. His eyes saw the dark veins beneath hers which rippled towards her temples, he watched the slow descent of a blood drop from her upper lip to the corner of her mouth before slowly trailing its way down her chin.

See they were there when I woke up this morning…

Caroline could feel the short puffs of breath which fell on her wrist from Pascal's mouth. Her fingernails clawed lightly over his pulse which beat erratically, her urge to rip into his throat with her bare hands was overwhelming just as the want to watch the dead light of his eyes leave him. Before she could move from her statue like position she felt the light touch of fingers slowly making their way around the wrist which held the man's neck.

I'll be dead before the day is done…

Klaus tightened his fingers around her skin as he kept his eyes locked onto her face. Her skin burned fiercely under his touch as his grip became stronger. Pascal watched Klaus' movement and was filled with hope as he saw his king seemingly stop the blonde.

Caroline slowly loosened her hold on the man as Klaus tightened his, the blonde slowly looked up into Klaus' eyes, neither speaking a word, both being lost in the other's gazes. Klaus watched as the black veins which had rippled form Caroline's eyes to her temples slowly faded to be replaced by porcelain clear skin, her orbs turning from their navy to azure blue as they focused on his sapphire orbs. His other hand reached out to grab her free hand as he ran his fingers from the tips of hers up to her wrist her he gently rubbed the pulse in her wrist with his thumb as if to sooth her beating heart.

Klaus slowly pulled her hand free from Pascal's neck as she ran her fingers over his wrist up to his arm holding onto him as she regained focus. Pascal gasped for air immediately falling onto his heels as he clasped his neck trying to sooth it from Caroline's strong grip. He looked up at her as rage filled him. Klaus could sense the oncoming words from the vampire but paid no attention to it completely focused on Caroline as he found himself immersed in her gaze.

"You bi-"Pascal's words were halted as Klaus' free hand swiftly snapped the vampire's neck causing him to fall to the ground. Caroline blinked slowly as the thud of the man's body dropping to the floor entered her ears. Her hands tightened her hold on Klaus as she found comfort in his presence, her lungs came out of their statuesque position and immediately inhaled the air lingering with Klaus scent.

Klaus responded moving closer and pulling her towards him as she settled her head into the crook of his neck whilst holding onto him. Klaus pulled her slightly away as he caught her eyes again, he softly brushed his thumb over her chin and corner of her lip as he took care of the trail of blood whilst Caroline saw him observing her intently checking for any injuries to find none, seeming relieved he pulled her closer gently pressing his lips against her forehead as he smoothed his fingers through her curls whilst she inhaled another breath of air as she laid her head against his chest.

The breaking of glass caused Caroline to furrow her brow before distancing herself from Klaus as she slowly turned to face Katherine whose eyes widened as she came under Caroline's glare.

"What the hell where you thinking?" Caroline said in a low tone. Katherine's expression turning into a lazy smirk.

"I was having fun. Until you interrupted." Caroline licked her lips wiping away they speckled blood on them. Her eyes turned onto the young wolf girl who was now standing beside the 3 other wolves, they had grabbed cloths to press against her wrist stemming the bleeding from her wrist whilst one of the human girls was taking care of the boy Katherine had nearly drained.

"Fun?" Caroline said tensely as Katherine sighed and nodded.

"Yes. Fun. Now if you'll all excuse me I need to find some more since you interrupted my previous attempt." Caroline flashed in front of Katherine causing her to huff and still as she sighed with an expectant look in her eyes.

"What was your plan exactly, hmm? Start a war between the factions? You knew full well what the rules where here, Katherine and yet you went out of your way to break them."

"It's like you said, not really one to follow the rules." Katherine smirked before sidestepping the blonde.

"Kat-"Elijah started before being interrupted by Caroline.

"Katerina!" Caroline hissed causing the brunette to still. "Don't walk away from me. Especially if you're going to cause destruction wherever you go." Katherine turned around to face her with cold eyes.

"I can do whatever I please, cupcake, lest you forget, I was the one to save you. Not the other way around."

"And I just saved your sorry ass." Katherine scoffed.

"I didn't need saving, the wolf girl and human did. It was quite fun to watch really."

"Yeah, quite the laugh to see a girl with similar features as Hayley and a man looking awfully like Elijah about to become snacks for a bunch of vampires. Quite the coincidence, hmm?" Katherine hissed at Caroline with a ripple of her veins whilst the blonde remained unaffected by Katherine's threat. "Touched a nerve, have I?" Katherine strode towards Caroline ready to tear her a new one but Caroline flashed around her. "Wow, look at those fangs. I'm guessing it was a big nerve then."

Katherine breathed out clearly frustrated at the taunting she was getting whilst Caroline stopped seeing the frustration evident on her friend's face. The blonde's eyebrows furrowed as she watched Katherine's eyes fill with water. Caroline stretched out her hand taking Katherine's before sighing and tilting her head as she watched the emotion flash through the brunette's eyes.

"Come on…." Caroline murmured as she gripped Katherine's hand tightly and led her out of the bar sparing a quick glance over her shoulder to Klaus who watched her walk away. Elijah started to follow but was shut down as Klaus halted Elijah in mid-step as he came to understand what was going to happen. 'Thank you' the blonde mouthed over her shoulder as she led the brunette away.

"I think a 'girl-talk' is about to commence, brother, something which you most likely are not permitted to attend since you'll be center focus in the discussion." Elijah let his hands drop to his sides and remained on the spot before hanging his head. "So," Klaus turned his eyes from his brother to the various people who were currently alive, "I'd be fantastic if someone could inform me as to what happened here." His eyes scanned those who looked at him, half in fear, the other half in annoyance to a perfect evening being disrupted.

Klaus glanced over the people before his eyes fell on the blonde haired man, his senses screaming wolf. "I think I'll start with you." He approached him slowly, "Cary, correct? The one who contacted us about the situation." Klaus smirked. "Care to explain why a wolf is in a blood bar?"

Meanwhile…

Caroline pursed her lips with a raised eyebrow as Katherine looked at her with a careless expression after composing herself, the brunette rolled her eyes and turned to walk away after flashing to the top of Rousseau's roof. Her heels clicked as she continued to stride across the top to skip over to the next roof in line. "Katherine Pierce running away? Thought I'd never see the day." Caroline said as she kept pace with the brunette who ignored her and strode forward. "Elijah told me what you said. Harsh words-"her voice halted as Katherine span round and flashed towards the blonde stopping a few millimeters away from her.

"You have no idea what happened." Caroline looked Katherine up and down, noting the light speckle of blood on the corner of her lip.

"It hurt you enough to stop you from keeping up your appearance." Caroline raised her eyebrows, before gesturing towards the corner of her lip, "You missed a spot." Katherine rubbed off the dried blood and placed it between her lips.

"What can I say? I like to savor it." Katherine began to turn when Caroline stopped her by grabbing her wrist and a roll of her eyes.

"Please, you just had your own mini buffet, there was nothing to savor there. Especially the way you left the boy." Katherine tried to pull her hand away from the blonde but failed. "The wolf girl looked awfully lot like Hayley whilst the human seemed to be much like Elijah. That's a bit of a coinciden-Katerina stop trying to rip out your arm from my hold! I'm an Original, we both know I won't let you go until I decide, so save yourself a dislocated shoulder because I'm not releasing until you've told me what happened."

"That's blackmail." Katherine hissed as she tried fruitlessly to pull out her wrist.

"That's stating the obvious." Caroline kept the hold on her wrist tight as Katherine refused to give up and continued to struggle. "I'll tell you what I think happened. You ran off to the cemetery and Elijah followed you, he told you he wanted you back and he wouldn't give up no matter how many times you told him so you instead have him a piece of your mind. You told him everything that you've kept in for 500 years and I'm guessing he didn't take it well. Am I right?" Caroline asked with a peaked eyebrow waiting as she kept her fingers locked around Katherine's wrist whilst the brunette's fight decreased as she heard Caroline's assumptions. "And now…well, now you're sick and tired of him throwing you away in place of something else, that something else being Hayley. So you decided the easiest way to retaliate was to make a war break out between the factions to mess up whatever Elijah has been striving for every time he let you go." Caroline's voice remained hard as she said her thoughts out aloud before stilling with a sudden realization. "Or you were trying to start a fight so you could slip away without him noticing since he'd be preoccupied with another one of the town's problems." Caroline said with a softer voice as Katherine's fight fell whilst Caroline slowly released her.

Katherine avoided the blonde's eyes but kept her jaw tense as she swallowed the lump in her throat and refused to allow her eyes to water up. "I don't want to do this anymore, Caroline." Katherine said without any façade. The brunette looked to the ground before she stepped away towards the brick wall adjacent to the closed roof exit. She leaned against it with her eyes closed as she tilted her face up towards the sky as the rays of sun shimmered across her face.

The blonde licked her dry lips as she ambled towards her friend and leaned beside her with her arms crossed against her chest. "Do what?" Her voice was soft, hesitant to get any louder to prevent the brunette from closing up again. This was one of the rare times when the great Katherine Pierce opened the doors in the wall which she had spent decades in building around her to allow only a handful of people in.

Katherine opened her honey brown eyes as she tilted her head towards Caroline, "This." She stressed looking out towards the tops of the buildings and clear blue sky which was speckled with pale white clouds. Caroline followed her eyes and looked out to the peaceful view as she listened to Katherine. "You can't make me apologize for what I did, well, tried to do before you interfered which you have quite the talent in doing." Caroline couldn't help the corner of her lips turning up as she rolled her eyes.

"What can I say, I'm a natural." The Original said earning a click of the brunette's tongue and a slight smirk, her curved lips fell slowly as she took in a deep breath, her lips open and closed but not voice came out as she looked for the best way to explain but gave up knowing that Caroline would understand so she said the words that instinctively came to her.

"He gave up on me." The curly haired girl laid her head against the wall. "I felt worthless" she said with a hard voice, "he made me feel worthless," her tone lowered with soft edges to her words harshly contrasting her previously brash tone, "alone," she took in a shaky breath, "and scared."

Caroline's heart went out to Katherine, but she knew that would mean nothing. "I can have him castrated in less than a minute, what do you say?" Katherine's eyebrow peaked as Caroline read her expression and widened her eyes, "hey, I didn't say I'd do it myself, I mean eeew Kat." The brunette chuckled at her friend.

"And here I thought you were trying to tone down the violence." She murmured but the blonde heard.

"Yeah but some things call for a little violence." Caroline replied with amusement before the air was filled with silence from both. "And Klaus would totally dagger Elijah before I even would get a chance to get near him."

"Ah, yes, the wonderful traits of being half wolf, you get possessiveness and jealousy all in one." Katherine said earning an amused scoff from the blonde who nudged her with the corner of her elbow.

The mood descended back into a freight train of seriousness. "It's a continuous cycle. He gives me a chance, I try, but mess it up, then he leaves and we repeat the same mistakes a few decades later," she sighs as her body sags against the wall, "I don't want to anymore." She stops speaking as her eyes seem to glaze over, Caroline sees the deep depths to which her eyes have stilled to and realizes the look instantly as she sees it herself everyday in the mirror. Katherine is lost in the memories of the past and Caroline hesitates to interrupt her but does eventually as she begins to speak.

"Nadia told me that she wanted to go to Bulgaria for the summer." Katherine shook herself out of her thoughts and furrowed her brow.

"Why?" She asked confused.

"She wants to see where you grew up, where she was born…her home…" Caroline murmured softly as Katherine sighed with a bitter smile before it softened slowly. "Your daughter wants to learn about her past, your past. You have so much to live for Kat, and a man, especially a stupid man, like Elijah, who decides to give you up, is not worth it. Hell he may love and you might feel the same but one day you're going to realize that the moments you spent with him were either the most perfect moments in your entire life or just a waste of time."

"Tell it to me straight why don't you?" Katherine muttered bitterly earning a smile from the blonde as she nudged her with her shoulder.

"Kat, I'm not gonna sugar coat it, you know this already. Elijah is a fool to have even thought about letting you slip through his fingers but you have so much more going for you." The brunette rolled her eyes in disbelief, "You have a daughter who loves you, you're immortal, young, beautiful," Kat's lips curved up slightly as Caroline straightened as she made her point, "hey, don't let that get to your head, I don't want to inflate your ego too much."

"You're lucky your psycho hybrid boyfriend can't hear you hitting on me," Caroline rolled her eyes at Katherine's words as she leaned back against the wall, "he might kill me to get rid of the competition." The brunette flicked her hair back over her shoulder as she sighed with fake sadness but Caroline could hear the underlying doubt Katherine still held against the hybrid in question.

"He's not going to hurt you." Caroline said gently easing the brunette's doubts, "I won't let him." Katherine shrugged her shoulders in return. The brunette's features were expressionless for a while before she furrowed her brow, "Do you regret all the times that you let him go?" Caroline knew instinctively who Katherine was asking about, the blonde chuckled lightly.

"No. I wasn't ready and we both knew that. Hell I spent most of my time avoiding or pushing him away." Caroline's brow peaked, "what's got you so interested in my love life, all of a sudden?" She shrugged her shoulders.

"I never thought I would end up here…"

"You mean to say you never thought you would one day be a manipulative vampire bitch?" Caroline said sarcastically.

"With great hair. Nope." Katherine added nonchalantly.

"What's got you so full of humanity today, hmm?" Katherine swallowed thickly.

"Humanity is a vampire's greatest weakness, Caroline, no matter how easy it is to turn it off, it keeps fighting its way back in…sometimes I let it." Caroline hummed in response. Katherine pursed her lips before slowly laying her head to rest on Caroline's shoulder whilst the blonde rested her cheek against the brunette's soft curls.

"I must say that I was impressed by your choice if retaliation, very…elegant." She earned an unladylike snort from Katherine, "really, finding people who looked near enough like Elijah and Hayley was quite the cherry on top."

"Why thank you, cupcake." Caroline smirked before looking out towards the vast city before her. Tilting her head slightly, she whispered:

"Chestit rozhden den, Katerina," the brunette gasped softly causing Caroline to press her lips against Katherine's hair.

"You remembered." She whispered.

"How could I forget? It's not every day my best friend turns 572." Katherine scoffed lightly.

"Hey we're keeping that number between us, to everyone else I'm still 22. Clear?" Caroline smirked at her usual Katherine-like demanding voice.

"Crystal." She whispered before taking in a deep breath, "How 'bout we hit the road?" she asked knowing that the easiest way for her best friend to stop hurting was to leave her past behind and start a new journey, she felt Katherine nod her head. "Can you get Lucy?" The brunette lifted her head.

"Saying goodbye to lover boy?" Katherine asked salaciously as Caroline shook her head with a roll of her eyes.

"Give me one hour."

"Mmm, one hour, think of all the things you could do-"

"Kat. We're going to talk, nothing more."

"Puh-lease, don't think I didn't see the eye-sex between you in the club." The brunette smirked as she stepped away whilst Caroline straightened up, "Though if you need more than an hour, don't call, I don't want to have to hear you moments before you-"

"Kat! One hour, no more, no less."

"If it was less, I'd seriously condemn him on his stamina-"

"I'll see you later, go find Lucy, ok? One hour." Katherine saluted with a salacious smirk.

"Yes, sir." Caroline rolled her eyes with a smile before Katherine flashed away to look for the ebony witch.

Caroline turned to face the city and sighed, 'now where to find a certain Original Hybrid…'

Next chapter: Klaroline romance and fluffiness with a hint of Kalijah. It might be the final chapter or the second to last, depending on how I feel. If it is the final chapter, this will be the first story/ part of a story that I'll finish...give me a few seconds, I can feel the tears building up.

See you next time, 'sniffles', :D
