There was a light knock at the door. Selena, eyes still half closed and groggy, slowly, but surely, got up to answer it. She opened it to reveal a beautiful blond. "Good morning!" Caroline said merrily. She was already wide awake and dressed for the day. "Do you realize how early it is?" Selena, who was still in her nightgown, asked. "It's 5:30am! I know, it's early. But the ball is tonight and the whole house is up and running. I'm going to asked Jenna if she needs any help preparing for tonight. Would you like to come?" She asked with a big smile while Selena was still staring at her in amazement because she was so energized at 5 o'clock in the morning. "...Would I like to come? Me? Would I lik- does this answer your question?" She asked as she slammed the door close again. "Very rude!" Caroline, outside the door, told her. Caroline was walking back downstairs when she ran into a Mikaelson. "Prince Harry! Good morning." She told him. "Good morning to you too, and I could have sworn I asked to call me Harry. Just harry." He said to her. "Yes. You are right, Harry." She said with a smile.
"Can i talk to you for moment?"
"Sure." She answered.
He extended his arm for her to take, then began to ask her "About your friend Selena..." as they walked downstairs together. Selena emerged from her bedroom early this morning, granted it was two hours later then when Caroline tried to wake her up but hey, this was early for her. "Good morning Ms. Russo." She turned to see Stefan Salvatore walking down the hall. "Lord Salvatore." She said with a grin. She was starting to get use to this 'princess' life. "When you have a moment, I believe my brother Zayn is looking for you." He said as he was walking passed her. She guessed he was headed to Elena's room. "Really?" She asked more to herself than him. She walked down the hall till she found Zayn's room. She went to knock when the door flew open. "Hello Selena. It's nice to see you." Zayn said to her. "Hey, um.. I'm sorry to bother you, Stefan said you were looking for me?" She asked. "Oh! Um.. come in!" He told her as he moved back to let her in. Selena felt a little bit more then uncomfortable in his room, but she stepped in anyway. His room was as big as any other room in the house, but with his room you could tell that it was lived in. That when ever he would visit, this would be his room. There was new things in here, such as new suits and new shoes. And there was old things, such as old kids pajamas and old pictures that a kid would paint. There were even pictures of him, Louis and Harry on his shelf. She wandered over to that picture. "Oh wow. You all were so young here." She said with a giggle because their hair looked horrible in it. Like they intentionally massed in each other heads for the picture. "Oh yeah. That was..a long time ago." Zayn said walking over to where she stood. "Hmm...so what did you want to talk to me about?" She asked facing him now. "Well, I wanted to finish the conversation we were having. About the ball?" He reminded her. "Ah yes. The one harry so rudely interrupted yesterday." She said as she rolled her eyes. "Yes. Well, that's Harry for ya. Always rude." He said with a laugh and over exaggerating. "Yeah. But he has his moments too. Like when he asked me to the ball." She said. He looked up when he heard her said this. "...I'm sorry, he asked you to the ball? The one that's tonight?" He asked. "Hmm? Oh yeah, he came to my room last night and asked me. I found it very sweet of him, but don't tell him I said that. He even brought me a dress." She looked down at the ground, trying to hide a smile. "He came to your room...of course he did." Zayn said to himself. A vampire would have been able to hear him say that, but to humans ears, to Selena, it wasn't audible. "Oh! What was it you wanted to tell me?" Selena asked. "...just...have fun and don't forget to relax in the room full of vampires tonight." He told her.
"Well, I was relaxed till you reminded me about the vampires, but thanks anyway." She said to him as she began to make her way out of his room. "Oh! Sorry bout that. See you tonight!"
"Bye Zayn!" She said. He waved her off with a smile but as soon he closed the door that bright smile turned into a chilling frown as his eyes went black with anger. Selena finally made her way downstairs to the kitchen with Jenna and Caroline, Elena was down there with them as well. She was helping put fruit upon the cakes when Rebekah came though. She walked past everyone else and stood right in front of Selena. Selena sighed and slowly turned her head up to face Rebekah. "What? What now?" She asked. "My older brothers didn't tell me I have to like you, but they did tell me I have to be civilized with you. So, if you don't start with me, I won't have to kill you." She said with a sarcastic smile. "I saved your life when that Oni cutting off your breathing outside and still you want to kill me? Whatever, Rebekah. Sure, I'll play nice, but you have one time to threaten me again and all bets are off." Selena said. She made it a point for Rebekah to see the knife that was still in her hand. Rebekah laughed at the small thing. It was a toy to her. "Fine." Rebekah said. "Aw! This is good! Now we can all be nice to each other and be friends." Caroline told them with a smile. "The only reason I have to be nice to her is because my brothers told me too, I don't have to be nice to you, bimbo." Rebekah told her as she made her way out of the kitchen. Caroline gasped. "I am not a bimbo!" She said all child-like to Selena. "Don't worry about her. She hates me too." Elena said. "Really? Why do you think that?" Selena asked. "I don't know..." she said. Jenna turned to stare at her. "What? Okay. Okay. I do know." She finally admitted. "You both know that Stefan and Klaus are best friends. Well, a long time ago Rebekah and Stefan use to um...be friends. The same way he and I are friends." She told them as the whole room went 'ohhh!' "Yeah. So when I came to town he wanted to um..be friends with me. And because he didn't like the idea of being with both, Rebekah and I, he stopped seeing her. He is a gentleman." She ended with a smile. "Right. He is such a gentleman, isn't he married?" Selena stated. "Engaged!" Elena corrected. "Either way, she has a reason she hate you. I have no idea why she hates me. I've done nothing but been nice to her." Caroline said. Just then a young maid by the name of Anna came in. "Ladies, it's almost 2:00pm. It's time to start getting ready for the ball." She told them. As Caroline was feeling bad about Rebekah's dislike for her, a huge smile lit up on her face as she thought about the ball. "There's nothing more left to do here, go get ready!" Jenna said waving them all off. And the girls scattered upstairs.
Later in the evening when the guests were starting to arrival, Harry was upstairs in his room nervously getting ready. Louis was in there with him trying to help... well..not really. "How does this one look?" Harry asked revealing to Louis a suit that any women would swoon over. Louis, who was lying upside down on Harry's bed, said. "You look horrible. She is going to throw up when she sees you."
"Ugh!" Harry angered as he ran back to his closet to change... again.
"Harry! I was kidding! You've changed 6 bloody times already. Now c'mon you look great." Louis said. "It's got to be perfect Lou! This is a big event!" Harry yelled from his closet. "It's a ball, just like all the other balls you Mikaelsons have thrown in your 1000's of years." Louis said. "It's not the same! Harry yelled. "Why? Because she is going to be there? He asked teasingly with a smile. "Wha- I don't know what you're taking abo- what are you talking about? That's crazy! You're crazy! I don't even know what yo- that's...that's crazy." Harry said walking out of his closet now. "Right...cause that was really believable." Louis said. Harry sighed. "I Don't get it, Lou. I don't know her all that well, but if i have to marry somebody I know I want it to be her and not any of the other girls my parents picked out." He explained. Louis got off the bed and went to fix the tie around Harry's neck. "How do you explain that? Hey, I know I only met you a week ago, but you have to marry me soon or else my parents are banish me from my village and, oh yeah! Kill you." He thought out loud. "don't worry mate. When we were kids we got our self's in worst situations than this." Louis remained him. Harry laugh and took a deep breath. "Thanks Lou. You guys always knew how to make me feel better." He told him. "'you guys'?" Louis asked. "You and Zayn. You're my best friends..." harry told him. Louis finished Harry's tie and started to walk over to the other side of the room. "Right. About Zayn... Harry, you should know that-"
"That Zayn has taken a liking to Selena?" Harry laughed walking over to stand in front of his mirror. "I've noticed. It's just a little crush. It's fine, but he will have to get over it once I put a ring on her hand." Harry said with a smile. "No Harry there's something more. You see, Zayn is-" there was a knock at the door. "Harry, mother and father are here. Let's go." Elijah said. "Oh bloody hell! Louis we can talk later, yeah?" He said as he walked out the door to his older brother. "...sure." he answered. He sighed and walked out the room. he was going to stairs when. "Having a chat with your best mate?". He turned to see Zayn standing in the shadow of one of the bedroom doors. "Zayn? What are you doing?" Louis asked. "No, what were you doing? I confined in you Louis, And you were just going to tell him what I said to you? Just like that?" Zayn said with a smile on his face. Louis had never in his life felt scared of Zayn, but in that moment he felt terrified. "Zayn...? What's the matter with you..?" Louis asked with a weak laugh that turned into a concerning look. Then, to Louis, the most terrifying thing happened...Zayn started laughing. He started laughing loud and hard. Louis turned and walked downstairs, still hearing Zayn's laughter echo though the halls.
Downstairs all the Mikaelsons were waiting in the foyer to make a grand entrance. "Let me guess, Louis put your tie on?" Elijah asked, as he fixed Harry's crooked tie. "Oh, yeah he did. I've forgotten that mum and father were going to be here." Harry said, extending his neck trying to see over his siblings. "Yeah Well, you know how they love to drop in." Elijah said with a lot sarcasm. "There. That looks better. You look nervous, go stand up there with Nik." Elijah told him. Harry really was nervous, and it must have been written on his face cause Nik told him the same thing when he stood next to him. "You look nervous."
"So I've been told." Harry answered.
"Dont be. Now I think you've noticed that when ever something big is happening that the Oni seems to appear and I'll be dammed if something happens to you so stay close by us tonight." Nik told him. Harry nodded just as the huge doors came opened to the grand ball room. and the Mikaelsons were welcomed to room full of beautiful colors and beautiful people. The room was warm with laughter even with Esther and Mikael in it. Some people even resorted to the dance floor where violist and cello players were giving away wonderful music. Everyone was there, even the maids were dressed up nicely, Jenna especially looked wonderful in the dress she was wearing. Harry was talking with some boring old rich woman when he glanced over and seen Selena in the room for the first time. She was wearing her hair up and a dress that had long fitted sleeves, a skirt that was large but not to big to the point where she couldn't walk. And the color was breathtaking on her, it was a dark blue but the thing that made it stand out was the orange streak in the corset. It ran from her Left shoulder down to her Right hip, not to mention it was Harry's favorite color. He knew he was suppose to stay close to his older brothers, but she looked wonderful so he made his way over to her. She seen him right before he was just upon her and from his point, he could see her eyes were taking him in just as much as he was her. And he did look good in a suit. Lexi was talking with her when he walked over to them. "Um..I think I heard someone call me, I will talk to you later. Bye Harry." Lexi said smiling as she walked away, she was so going to tease Selena about this later. "Bye Lexi." Harry said never taking his eyes off Selena. "What is it?" She asked, she notice he was starring at her, even though she was doing the same thing to him. "You uh..you're wearing my favorite color." He told her. "Oh, really?" She asked looking down and touching her dress. "Well, you did buy it." She reminded him with a smile. "Yeah, well that's the best money I ever spent." He said with a smile of his own. Again, he remembered he was suppose to stay with his brothers but.." come with me to the garden for a moment, I want to give you something." He told her. "Depends, will i have to cut you for not keeping your hands to yourself? Because this hair clip does turn into a knife." She asked sarcastically and honestly. Although she came to be a bit more relaxed around the Mikaelsons, she wasn't about to let her guard down. Vampires weren't something you wanted to be alone with. "I would never do that to you...well, not against your will anyway." He said as he walked toward the opened patio doors that lead out to the garden, and she followed him. Caroline was making her way over to Selena when she saw she was leaving with Harry, so she left them alone. She wandered over to the side of the room and started to look at the brilliant paintings that were hung upon the walls. "You look beautiful." A voice said from behind her. She wore a pure white dress that hung off the shoulders and against her pale complexion. It looked as if it malted into her skin. And she wore her hair up just as her best friend Selena did. "I'm sorry, do I know you?" She asked when she turned to see a man she didn't recognized. "No, you Dont know me, but I would like for you too." The man told her. He was handsome, tall, had short black hair and brown eyes. And by the looks of his expensive suit, she could tell he had money. "My name is Tyler Lockwood. Heir to the Lockwood estates." He told her. An heir? She knew he had money. "Hello Mr. Lockwood. I'm lady Caroline Forbes." She said. "A lady? What line do you come from?" He asked. "What? Oh! Oh no I'm not Royal." She told him. "You're not? That's even better." He said. "How so?" Caroline said not really listening to him. "Because I really like non-royals in bed better." This caught her attention. "Excuse me?" She asked. "Yes, village women are better in bed than any other girls on this side on the land." He told her. You knew what he meant when he said that. "I'm sorry, but I'm not like those girls who beds princes and lords just to move up on the 'royal' ladder." Like so many other so-called royals. They could be a village girl just like Caroline but if they found a royal desperate enough for sex they could get pregnant by them and have a baby with royal blood. And vise versus, if a village boy were to get a princess pregnant then the guy is automatically royal. "And I would like it if you would leave me now..sir." she told him. She was getting used to this whole 'sticking-up-for-your-self' thing she had going on. "You know you really are beautiful." He said touching her arm now. "I could have sworn she asked you to leave, like now." They turned to see Niklaus walking up to them. "And I could have sworn that I was talking to her and not you." Tyler said. "Oh, no need to be rude. She simply asked you to leave her alone, but if you want to get rude then I could, oh i don't know, break that hand of yours that's touching her arm right now." Nik said very calmly. "Really?... Want to say that again?" Tyler said walking to stand right in front of him. "Well, I can show you better then I can tell you." Nik said calmly. And he did. The hand of Tyler's that was holding Caroline's arm was now the hand that was breaking in Nik's grasp. Tyler yelled out in pain but on the count of the music and people laughing and talking loudly no one really heard him. Caroline, putting a hand to her mouth, gasped. "I don't know if you've noticed little boy, but I am Niklaus Mikaelson and this my castle. Dont threaten me cause you won't win...now, as she's told you before, leave. Now." Klaus told him in the most terrifying voice that Caroline has ever heard him speak in. He let go of Tyler's broken hand and Tyler ran off . Nik turned to Caroline and said, "You look lovely tonight." Like breaking a man's hand just now had never happened. "Wha- are you serious?" She asked still shocked. "What? Oh that? I do stuff like that all the time. You didn't know? Well, welcome to the Mikaelsons castle." He said with smile. She scoffed and started to walk away. "W-wait Caroline." Nik said going after her. But they both stopped, Nik stopped when he bumped into her, they both saw it as it moved past them and went into the grand ball room. It was the Oni.
Outside in the garden Harry walked Selena to a little spot not far from the castle, but far enough so they could have their privacy. "I ran into your friend Zayn today." Selena said. "No surprise. What'd he have to say?" Harry asked with a laugh. "I Dont know. He was going to ask me something, but I think he forgot. He never said. We were talking about the ball." She told him. "Hm..." he said. He knew what Zayn was going to say. "But I didn't bring you out here to talk about that." He told her with a smile. "Ah yes. You wanted to give me something." She remembered. "Yes, now close your eyes." He asked her. "...Okay, but I'm warning you if I opened them and your lips are on me, I will be forced to slap you." She told him. She closed her eyes for moment and then "open them' she heard him say. She opened them to find him standing there with a small box. She looked up at him. "Go on, open it." He told her. To her relief it wasn't a wedding ring, but a necklace. "It's uh.. it's a locket. Here, look." He pulled it out of its box and held it up so she could see what was in it. She opened it and gasped. On one side was a picture of her when she was little, on the other side was a picture of her mother. "I wanted to gave you a gift for actually coming to the ball with me, so I um.. I went to Caroline for help." He said with a laugh. She laughed too as tears came to her eyes. "All she told me was how much you talk about your mother, so I went down to the village this morning to meet her. She told me you have no pictures of her here in the castle, so I went down to ask her for a picture for you.." he thought he did something wrong when he saw tears, but then she gave him a brilliant smile. "She sends her love." He told her. "I'm going to have to ease up on the insults on you." She said with a laugh wiping away her tears. She truly missed her mum, she was the only person she could spill her heart too. She was really all she had. He reach up to put the necklace on her, just when a twig snapped in the night. Harry turned his head toward the sound. "...what? What is it?" Selena asked. She obviously didn't hear the twig. "Nothing. Let's just...just go back inside." Harry said leading her back to the castle. As soon as they got to the patio steps, the doors slammed shut on their own. "Oh no. No. No. No. No." Harry said trying to open them again. "What happened?" Selena said walking up to try to open them now. "Exactly what Nik warned me not to do." Harry said turning to block Selena from the garden. She was locked between harry and the patio doors, Banging on them for someone to hear. Then she heard what Harry must have been hearing all along. There was growling and hissing coming from the garden. She turned her head for a split second to look at what Harry was seeing and then she wished she hadn't. "Ahhh! What is that!?" She yelled as she continued to bang on the doors. Then, Harry answered out of breath, but calmly. "Werewolves...".
