Happy late Easter everyone! Hope everyone had a lovely holiday. I had my 28th birthday, that much closer to 30. It was great. Reviews make great gifts ;)
Not a whole lot going on in this chapter, mostly filler. But as always I highly enjoy writing Joker. There is sooo much to do with him and his character because of how unpredictable he is.
Life isn't always fair.
I'm an agent of chaos. Oh, and you know the thing about chaos? It's fair!
They had taken a long detour before returning to the factory. Joker ignored the cramping in his long legs, and instead focused on his rage. This had been the whole reason that he had sent Eddy out to find him a new place, so that they could have avoided this whole thing. The fact that he had been caught off guard made his blood boil. This had been the first time that Gordon had managed to catch him unprepared, and nearly outwitted him.
Although they had moved the bulk of the warehouses contents out, they had still lost a lot weapons. The truck that he had abandoned had a good portion of their heavy weapons, and a portion of his funds. He would need to replace those things, especially the money. Finding recruits wasn't cheap in his line of work.
After what had seemed like hours, the station wagon finally slowed to a stop. Light reached his eyes as the trunk popped open. Much to his relief, Joker noted that Walt had backed up to one of the loading docks on the side of the building. He was able to hop into the building quickly and avoid anyone seeing him.
The inside of the factory could only be described as chaos.
This particular type of chaos put Joker into a further level of rage. Off to the side there were men retelling their escape, several men rushed crates off to the warehouse in the older part of the factory, and Eddy stood in the middle of the cavernous room on the phone. He glanced sideways and a look of pure nervousness spread across his face.
"Just call back if anyone else gets booked, I gotta go the boss is here." Eddy shoved the phone into his pocket. "Er...Hey boss, that was one of our guys from downtown. One of our trucks got captured...I mean another one. Not the one you were in."
Joker glared and stepped forward, successfully scaring the man. "You're rambling. Stick to the important stuff. I am not a very happy man right now."
Eddy visibly swallowed. "Right! Um, so far just the two trucks lost, some weapons. Two of our guys that know the location of the new place were taken in. The other guys that were in the back, were all new guys that didn't know our location. As far as we know, Gordon doesn't know where we were going yet."
Joker clucked his tongue. "And they're not going to, because you're going to call back our contact and tell him that if he doesn't make sure that those morons that got caught don't have an 'accident', then we'll make sure his family has one."
Eddy tried not to let the terror come through in his voice. "Sure thing boss."
Joker shoved past him, "I am not to be disturbed. Anyone who bothers me, will leave dead."
The clown made his way down the factory's halls towards the main bedroom in the farmhouse. He noted some of his men in the parlor, hooking up expensive tech. Wires were laying every where, he expected to have surveillance on the place quickly. As they noticed their boss watching, they picked up their pace.
He moved on, and slammed the bedroom door behind him.
Jim threw the folder in his hand across the room in disgust. "You're telling me our one chance for finding where the Joker went today is gone? And who the hell was watching them?"
James Gordon rarely lost his temper, and it caught Stan off guard and he stepped away from the irate commissioner. Though he understood his long time friend's frustration, he knew Jim wasn't someone to be reckoned with.
"I've already got an investigation underway. It's looking like someone poisoned their food."
Jim took his glasses off, setting them on the desk behind him. He pinched the bridge of his nose, hoping that the Excedrin he just took would stem off the blossoming migraine. "I have had it with my own damn men betraying us. I joined law enforcement to make a difference in Gotham. For the good of Gotham." He took a deep breath. "But it's impossible when the force is a den of snakes itself."
Stan put his hand on Jim's shoulder. "Look Jim, I know this is the hardest case we've ever worked, but we'll get there." Jim raised his eyebrow skeptically. "Think about it Jim. It's just history repeating itself. Hitler, Stalin, we got those sons of bitches; we'll get this son of a bitch too."
Jim straightened up. "You're right. Get me a list of anyone who had any contact with the prisoners or their food. If he wants to play dirty like this, I'm going to make it as difficult as possible."
He put his glasses back on. "I've already got three men suspected of working with Joker in custody. Let's go get some more."
Sorry for the short length here. The next one should be longer.
Thanks so much to all my followers! Love you guys!
