Chapter Fourteen: Tears of Death
This chapter may skip a few things but don't worry, I'm going to recap them in the next CHTR.
Please read and don't forget to review!
Standing in the rain, hands facing the havens as tears mixed together with the water droplets falling. Eyes closed tightly as the head tilted back, allowing the rain to wash over them. 'How could I?' kept racing through the sluggish mind, working it slowly. The darkness granted the mind of the pulsing body from this man. Anguish and torment crashed over those eyes when they slowly opened. The normally huey red was taken aback by the frosty white that was granted access. He was not of a decent at the moment, his form taken human. Thoughts kept running gradually, all though calming.
The once strong, unbreakable body was now battered and damaged. Once stable wall, crumbled to the feet. Showing that vunerable side. At one point in time, he was a great leader and protector. One that was well respected and greatly talked about, was now unknown to everyone. This change in him had his statues fall, and he didn't care. He stopped feeling, besides the anguish and pain, everything that's happening. He had given up his power to save what he loved and fought for to only be forcibly kill his lover and friend.
His eyes never shined, his lips never lifted. They've tried everything and nothing seemed to work.
"Derek" a young pup whimpered toward their Alpha, sadness washing in his chocolate eyes.
The elder wolf turned his attentive gaze to his mate and second in command, grief swayed his green eyes. "I know" he whispered. "Storm is going to have to pull out of this on his own." He sighed, his arms crossed his chest as he leaned toward his mate.
Storm, the male standing in the rain, tilted his head down to stare at the ground. "Derek" his voice was heavy with grief and pain. "Come forward" he called out.
Derek turned his attention to the former Alpha, confusion and sympathy flooded his darkening eyes. Grunting, he stepped down off the porch of the house to walk toward the Alpha. A few long strides, he was standing near him. "Yes?" he asked, dropping his arms to his sides.
Storm stared at him, his eyes a misty white. "I must leave, I heard of a pack Far North, call for help from me. I must return to North and find the problem." His voice stayed the same.
Derek wanted to reach forward, comfort his broken pack-mate. Refraining himself from that action that could get him killed, the Alpha's eyes flourished and shined with sympathy. "Please Storm, you must stay." He whispered.
Storm lowered his gaze to the ground, the same one that he wants to have eaten him. "I cannot. Duties call forth."
Derek opened his mouth to speak but was stopped by Scott's thumping of his feet and a fearful glance toward him. "You can't!" he whimpered in a high-pitched tone. "You're hurting!" he reasoned, whining.
Storm's gaze lifted back to stare at Scott, something flickered in his gaze. Almost like a fire trying to breathe but was struck down once more. Shaking his head after a moment or two of staring at Scott, torment flashing in his gaze. "I must. Birch would have wanted it to happen. I had promised him and I must keep that promise." He whispered, his voice broken and pleading for him to die of shame. "I cannot leave this world knowing it still has trouble that needs my help. I will not abandon what I helped create."
The alpha wanted to smack his head around, anger began to boil. "I challenge you for the position" Derek's voice hardened and iced over.
Storm swayed his eyes toward him, hope slowly rekindled in his eyes, a low flame of red flared near the edges of his eyes. "Before this challenge takes place" he began. "I must warn you of the responsibilities that lies with this heavy name, Absolute. It is not an easy task, for you are a leader to all and one. You must be a seasoned Alpha for the tasks that will emerge from each pack. Your mind, at all times, will be clear and unclouded by judgment. I am warning you now, if you wish to live a normal pack life then step down from me and return to your post as one Alpha not of many." Storm spoke the words slowly, wanting it to sink in.
Derek's eyes hardened and flared. "I will accept each term, each conceqence, and each problem with a clear mind. I am that of a seasoned Alpha. I will not allow emotion into the equation of the problem. I fully accept each statement that you have made without a doubt in my mind." He agreed.
Storm sighed, tiredness washing off of him in waves. Closing his eyes briefly, he inhaled before letting it slowly out. Opening his eyes gradually, they were greeted by a pair of flaming red eyes. Those that were a danger and yet comforting. "If you have agreed to this then step forward. I will not back down from you" he snarled. "I howl to the moon and sun as this challenge takes place out of not greed but redemption for the position that is being laid before me. If I, or He, loses this battle. Our life must be vacant from those of two eyes that have seen all and the body that has done all." Storm snarled, his lips pulling up into a snarl as his body began to shift into a full wolf.
Derek followed suit. His eyes began to take the liquid form, changing the green into red. He shook his body to prepare for the wolf form.
The two circled each other. Tails erect and ears laid back as they snapped at each other, faking attacks. Storm stopped suddenly and launched forward, barreling into Derek. The black wolf rolled with the hit, throwing his head back to let a dreadful howl of pain when he felt a pair of sharp fangs sink into his neck. Twisting his body around, his claws raked down the side. Drawing blood. Storm ignored the sting and bit harder, drawing more blood. Shifting his weight, the older wolf stood up and shook the younger wolf aggressively. Derek struggled to fight back, his body racketing with pain. Snarling, Derek tore himself away from the grip, blood flung in the air when he landed on his feet.
Derek shook himself once more, the two lost their focus on the world around them and more on the fight at hand. Scott howled out his pain, he could feel each bite and scratch his mate had gotten from the Absolute Alpha. Falling to his knees, he coughed blood when Storm landed a heavy blow to the stomach of Derek. The young Beta threw his hands out to catch himself when he felt dizzy and weak, confusion clouded his mind. Pain over rode the confusion.
Falling flat on his stomach, Scott whimpered quietly. Tears falling down his face and landing on the grass that was splattered with blood from both. Reaching forward, he tried to crawl away from the fight. He ended a few feet away from the fight but his body felt battered and broken. Screaming out in agony when he felt his back spark up with pain, twisting himself around. He tried to stop the burning feeling, almost as if it was broken.
Derek's attention was turned to his mate when he heard the scream. Storm stopped with his head low, blood littered his body. Some his and some Derek's. The Alpha's eyes flared with rage and pain, turning toward a cackling Storm. "It had slipped my mind to tell you that when you fight, your mate feels every little pain you feel but twice as hard. Why do you think when a mate dies, the other does too?" Storm howled with laughter when Derek's shocked expression flamed in his eyes.
The younger Alpha's rage boiled over, his lips drawn tight to draw blood as a dark and promising snarl rumbled his chest. Every hair on his body rose into the air as he prepared to jump full force at the elder male.
Pushing with all his might, Derek sailed into the air and opened his mouth. Storm lifted his head and allowed him to bite him in the neck. Derek, the young Alpha, bit hard and shook him. Tearing away his throat from his body. Throwing the piece of meat away, he snapped his head back and howled. His howl grew in octaves, becoming deeper each note. His body pulsed and grew into size.
Scott whined when he felt a raging fire fly through his vains. His body was on fire, or so he felt. Curling up tightly, he tried to roll and move but the movement made it strontanious on the young beta. He howled pitifully as his body kept twitching and expanding.
"Tonight, pure blood was spilt upon the ground where He has walked and shed his last tear. Tonight is the night when a King falls and a Knight rises. Step into the prints he created. Tonight anew arises. Tonight, under the full of the moon, rises Derek Hale!"
Sterling stood with his staff in hand and his eyes shining the brightest and envious blue. His shadowy form wavering in the intense moonlight that seemed to brighten. Lifting the old wooden staff, the wolf head lifted in the hands, he smiled gently. Sterling landed his staff down, hard. The earth shook and the winds picked up.
Figures of white ghostly shadows began to spill from the cracks. Derek snarled and ran to his mate. Grabbing him, he hugged him tightly to his body as the wolf forms ran through the lands. Their white paws beat against the ground like drums as their low keen howls sounded like singing.
"Come forth my Sister and Brothern, rise before me and grant this young wolf the power and protect to be what he wishes!" he cried out. "Raise your voice to the pale mother moon and in her eloquent white beauty. Howl your approval, burn your mark into him. Brand him yours!"
Sterling's smile darkened slightly as his form began to shift. His body became larger then Storm's and his eyes were softly flowing blue orbs of water and yet fire set afoot below those depths. Derek stared at him in shock. "Who are you!?" he exclaimed.
Sterling's gaze lowered. "I am the Father"
