Rhydian pov
Monday morning, work experience week, a whole week with the Smith's, meat eveyday, sometimes I love school.
I take my time getting ready as for some reason I woke up really early, probably excitement. I grap my bag and spill all of my school things on my bed, I won't need them this week and I'll clean it up when I get back, instead I pack a change of clothes incase I need them. Slowly walking downstairs and into the kitchen I make myself some toast, eating as I walk back to the stairs, I call up the stairs "Bye Mrs Vaughn, work experience today, I might be late back", I hear a muffled reply "Okay Rhydian, see you tonight".
After locking the front door behind me I take off through the woods towards the Smith's, the woods blur around me and the sounds all blend together, I love the rush from running this fast, as I near the house I catch the scent of bacon and eggs, smiling I knock on the front door.
Maddy answers, she's dressed smarter than I've ever seen her dress I raise my eyebrows in suprise, she sees my expression and shakes her head, muttering about everyone acting odd today, as I enter the house I see Tom and Shannon already there they're sat at the table eating while talking animatedly, "Come join us pet" Emma says as she grabs some glasses and places them down on the table next to tge orange juice, "Thanks" I reply as I sit down and tuck in.
I hear Daniel bustling about in his workshop, moving things about. "So Shan you ready for your day at Segolia" Emma asks, Shannon gives a bright smile as she answers "Yeah, I can't wait, I'm so excited, it's like a dream that I don't want to wake up from", we chuckle at her enthusiasm as Tom coughs and mutters 'nerd' under his breath. Emma then turns to Maddy who's pushing the food around her plate with her fork, her head hanging low "You ready for today cub?" she asks as she has a small smirk on her face, Maddy's eyes flash as she snaps her head up "I'm not a cub" she growls lowly, the black veins of her wolf crawling up her arms and face, concerned I hold her hand and ask her "are you okay Mads?", she blinks and tries to reign in her wolf, "Yeah, just really nervous and jumpy, I feel like about to wolf out any second". "Mads you should've said, here I think we have some rescue remedy" Emma says sympathetically as she rummages through the cupboards looking for the small red foul -smelling vial that contains something that should help keep her wolf at bay.
I rub my thumb over her knuckles, noticing how small and incredibly soft her hands are, she absently does the same to my own hand. Emma makes a sound of victory as she locates the vial, Shan looks at it then exclaims towards Maddy "That's what was in your bag, the day we had the maths exam, that smelly thing", Tom looks confused before Maddy adds "Yeah Toms the one who broke it", he looks even more confused, before I explain that exam week was just before Maddy first transformed.
Even though Maddy is calm now I can feel her wolf, it's restless and eager to break free, I couldn't feel her wolf before now, I wonder if Emma and Daniel can feel it but I suppose not because Emma thinks Maddy is okay now, I turn to Maddy and silently ask her whats going on, as if she heard my thoughts she says "I'm fine", liar I say in my mind, I'm not lying I hear Maddy's voice in my head, confused I look around the room no one has seemed to hear us. "Are we talking to eack other in our thoughts" I think in shock, "I think we are" Maddy thinks back equally shocked, then she adds in thought "Don't mention anything, I don't think it's a common occurrence, we don't want to worry mam because you know how she gets". "I wonder if it works at a distance, if it does it's like a permanent phone call" I muse, she shakes her head as she says "I think we can turn it off, I don't want you listening to my every thought" I smirk before retorting "Got something to hide Mads, I know you find me ridiculously attractive already" she's about to reply when we're snapped out of our thoughts by Daniel asking us "You two okay, your awfully silent" he looks concerned, I didn't even notice him entering the room, we must have really been deep in thought "We're fine dad, I'm just anxious about today", "Aw Maddy, you'll be perfect, you always are" he says smiling at her as he smooths her hair back, Maddy gets up and hugs her dad, we all look on fondly.
Okay so a couple more chapters until the plot thickens, until then thank you for all your continued support.
