~*~Chapter Fourteen~*~

Not that far away, Miranda awakened as she lay in bed next to Peter. Tears were slowly coursing down her cheeks. She was petrified as she remembered her disturbing dream.

"What is it?" Peter asked as he held her in his embrace.

"Bryce was beating Declan. He hurt him badly," she sobbed.

Peter comforted Miranda in his arms. "Shhh," he soothed.

"We'll save him from that. We will," he promised.

"What if...?" Miranda murmured.

"Try not to worry, just believe," he said to her tenderly. Very gently, he kissed her lips.

"Peter," she spoke into the kiss.

The passion began to flame between them. Miranda kissed him back as she removed what little clothing he had worn to bed. He was busy undressing her too, tossing her clothes aside. She kissed him with desperate need as their naked bodies melded.

"I want to make love to you," Peter said as he looked into her eyes.

He knew she had been through hell and painful memories continued to torment her, but he loved her and needed to bond with her in the way that only lovers could. He wanted to lend her his strength and the assurance that they would rescue her child. He wanted her to bask in the feeling of contentment, knowing that all would be well and he would never let her down.

"I love you, Miranda," he stated.

She met his eyes. "I want you," she said softly. "I've never wanted anyone as I want you. You have my heart, Peter."

She placed his hand over her naked breast, so he could feel her heart beating inside her chest. "I believe in you and our love... and I know you are going to save my son. You're going to bring Declan home to me."

"I will," Peter promised.

She kissed him passionately. Thank you," "she whispered in between kisses.

"For what?" Peter whispered.

"For loving me," she murmured.

Moments later, as their bodies moved together, she could feel her climax approaching. It was followed swiftly by Peter's. He spilled his seed into her beautiful body as he felt her quake underneath him. He kissed away her tears as he held her close. Gradually their passion cooled.

"Everything is going to be alright," he assured her. "Go to sleep."

For the first time in weeks, Miranda fell into a dreamless sleep while cradled in Peter's embrace. She believed him. Roman and Peter were going to find her son.
