Months had passed and Emma and Amy had their babies. Jay and Emma had broken up. It just wasn't working.
"She's perfect." Manny said. "Jay been around?"
"He takes her when he doesn't have work."
"Who watches his son when he works?" Manny asked.
"Sean or day care." Emma said. "He's taking her soon since I have to work."
"Well at least he kept his promise on being in her life." Manny said.
"Yea." Emma said as she finished getting ready. "Just hope I get tips tonight and not nothing. I need to diapers formula and whatever else."
"I'm sure if you asked Jay he would help."
"Yea no." Emma said. "He has enough with his son. He doesn't need to help me."
Manny smiled sadly at Emma. She felt bad that she struggled this bad. She heard a honk.
"Can you bring her out? I'm going to be late if I do." Emma said. "her bags over there."
"Why not make him provide for her when she is there?"
"Manny please just bring her out. I got to go." Emma said grabbing her purse and heading out with Manny to her car.
"Well she's in a rush." Jay said sarcastically.
"can't you two get along for Lilly?" Manny asked.
"Mhmm no." Jay said. Jay grabbed Lilly's car seat and put her next to his son Blake.
"What even happened?" Manny asked.
"You mean Emma never told you?" Jay asked being serious for once.
"Nope just said you were over."
"After Blake was born, things just got weird. Then we'll she had Lilly and yea. Honestly I don't even know." Jay said. "It's a huge mess was from day 1."
"Yea that's true." Manny said. "Well have fun." Manny headed back inside.
Emma got done work and headed to her car. But stopped when she saw Amy standing there. "Can I help you?"
"Just curious how my son is." Amy said.
"Honestly not sure. Jay and I broke up forever ago." Emma admitted. "He loves him."
"I feel like I made a mistake." Amy said. "but I can't just go there you know."
"We all made mistakes." Emma said. "I can barely afford life."
"You back with your parents?" Amy asked.
"My own place with Manny. Just barely surviving."
"So I guess giving him up was right?"
"I can't answer that." Emma said. "Only You can."
"I want to see him." Amy said.
"Well get in." Emma said. "I have to stop at the store if you don't mind first."
"guessing you have to get Lilly?"
"yeah he has to work early so it's easier." Emma said.
"He loves both of them doesn't he?" Amy asked. "He still go to school?"
"I think so." Emma said.
"did you drop out?" Amy asked.
"Yea I am an idiot." Emma admitted. "But I can't afford daycare during the day and when I work."
Emma and Amy went in the store. Emma grabbed formula diapers and wipe. "guess I'll starve this week."
Amy frowned. Maybe she did make the right choice after watching Emma struggle over her child or herself. Emma honked the horn when they got to Jays. Amy got out already. Jay saw Amy and rolled her eyes. Emma grabbed Lilly and put her in.
"Your out of formula and diapers." Jay said.
"Just picked some up with my tips tonight." Emma said.
"Why are you here?" Jay asked Amy.
"Can I just see him." She asked. "Em do you mind waiting?"
Emma sighed. "Sure." Jay glanced at her then headed in. Emma's phone rang. "hello?"
"hey Em it's Haley will you take my shift tomorrow morning I'm out of town and won't be back until late. I will even give you my next shifts tips if you do."
Emma frowned. She was working tomorrow evening. Guess the extra tips would be nice she might just get to eat after all.
"He's perfect." Amy said. "Your doing good"
"I try." Jay said. "Emma will kill you if you make her wait long."
"are you still in school?"
"Yup." jay said.
"Must be hard." Amy said thinking of Emma.
"I got lucky my job pays good."
"Sounds like Emma's doesn't." Amy brought up.
Jay glanced at her weird. "Your point."
"Pretty sure she goes weeks without food just to make sure Lilly has food." Amy said.
Jay had no idea. He tried to offer to help but Emma refused since he has Blake. Jay and Amy headed outside.
"Can I see him more?" Amy asked.
"Sure." Jay said. He threw money at Emma. "Stop starving yourself go eat."
Emma glanced at him weird. "Thanks."
"Well you need it." He said and headed in. Amy got in.
Manny agreed to watch Lily while Emma worked her double the next day until Jay picked her up. After work Emma stopped and picked Lily up.
"You do know it doesn't hurt to ask for help?" Jay said.
"but you have Blake to worry about.".
"True but I don't have to hope people tip me so I can feed my kid may be myself." Jay said.
"Well I manage." Emma said.
"Yea drop out of school, when I said I'd pay for day care." Jay said. "Go back and let me pay."
"I've been fine 2 weeks." Emma said.
Jay opened her door. "Come in talk and then grab Lilly and go."
Emma sighed and got out. She followed Jay in. Damn he was doing good. The kids has had every toy they would ever want. Emma sat on in his couch.
"Manny said something the other day." Jay said. Emma glanced at him. "Why did we break up?"
"No idea." Emma admitted. "it won't work. So why bother trying again?" Emma said getting up. Jay stood in front of her.
"We have to try before we say that." he said. "Stop pushing me away for once. I've been trying since before she was born. I want to help both of you. You could quit your job. Watch both kids on weekends and evenings when I work. But you are going back to school."
Emma sighed. "It's too late to go back."
"Never know unless you try." Jay said. "With both school and me."
Was Emma crazy to think that maybe it would work out? She wouldn't know unless she tried right. But could she give him another chance yet again?
