I know you all hate me so much right now but I am so sorry! I have had exams and I haven't had time to update so I am so sorry about that. But anyway I hope you enjoy this chapter
Serena attempted everything. She attempted to get the argument Erik out of head. But, it was persistent, permanently imprinted into her brain with no chance of escape.
The slight scar of where the bracelet had squeezed her skin, constantly mocked her every time she happened to glance at it, constantly reminding her of happened. The thing that pricked at her the most was wondering what Erik was thinking at that moment. Her mind convulsively mused whether he was nonchalant about the ordeal, and despised like he did every other human.
Serena was unable to decipher the catalyst of Erik's actions. She recalled him mentioning her being a 'mutant hunter', which only puzzled Serena as it was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard. Taking deep slow breath, Serena thought back to the events of that night, attempting to pinpoint when the good mood started dissipate. All of a sudden, Serena remembered how she'd rose to go to the toilet and then when she came back Erik's mood had converted. It was evident that Erik had discovered something in her absence.
Rising to her feet, she scanned the apartment as she searched for anything that looked out of place. Eventually, her eyes settled on the bookshelf that sat contently in the living room. The books were slight disarray, with a space in between two. Serena looked around the room, this time searching for the missing book.
Finally, she spotted a old, dilapidated journal laid on the floor beside the bookshelf. With a inquisitive look, she scrutinized the cover. The book seemed vaguely familiar, as if she'd come across it before. However, she knew that she hadn't had much interaction with it, although it's from its condition that it was it seemed that someone had. Hesitantly, she opened the book.
Serena flipped through the old and worn out pages until she came across the last page. From the layout of the writing, it seemed like someone had been keeping a diary in the book.
Heavy with anticipation, Serena began to read the last page. When she was finished, her body was a chaos of emotions. This new knowledge had caused her to understand Erik's actions, but that didn't placate her anger at him for trying to hurt her. She'd thought that he'd cared about her enough not to do something like that. Obviously, she was wrong.
Serena hated this. For a second she wished she'd never met Erik but then it back instantly. She disliked Erik for what he did but still felt that pull, like she always had.
All of a sudden, a sharp noise interrupted her musings.
"Hello?" She called warily.
Another sharp noise sounded causing Serena to jump, clutching the journal tightly as if weapon. In the moments, Serena was paralyzed, suddenly loosing all feeling in her arms and legs, causing her to collapse on the floor. Serena looked around frantically, panicked at her sudden incompetent. She looked up to see a handsome, brown-haired man that was shoulder length. He had piecing blue eyes that radiated power, instantly telling Serena that he was a mutant.
"Hello Serena." He smiled.
"What have you done to me?" Serena hissed, desperately trying to move the limbs thar failed her.
The man chuckled at her efforts.
"I've paralyzed you. Don't worry, it's not permanent, unless I decide it is." He told her "Now. Go to sleep."
Before Serena could even blink she felt her body start to shut down, preparing itself to enter the stages unconsciousness.
As much as tried to fight it, she knew it was a losing battle.
She waited for the moment when she finally succumbed to the sleep that threatened to take her. When it did, Serena's head slumped to the floor, her chest rising and falling steadily. The man bent down and scooped Serena up into his arms, glancing down at her sleeping form. He wanted to stop Erik from eradicating the human race and he knew that taking Serena was the only way to do so.
The man relaxed and thought of the place the where he wanted to take Serena, when he opened his eyes, he was there. One of his followers approached as soon as he appeared. The man handed Serena to his followers.
"Put her in one of the rooms." He told him.
His follower nodded, stalking away while the man grinned to himself at his success.
Alisa strolled around the manor, looking for somewhere she could be of assistance. Her morning had been familiar and dull, and at that moment she longed for something a little better than her normal routine. She made her towards the part of the manor which she contained the swimming pool.
It was half an hour before she had to check Serena. The thought of checking on Serena shots of irritation down Ailsa's spine. Alisa saw it as futile as she was never in any danger when she did check on her. Plus Serena was a grown woman, a few years older than Alisa herself and therefore not completely incompetent at looking after herself.
"Hey" A voice suddenly cut through her thoughts, which Alisa recognized as Fate's.
Alisa turned to see Fate standing with Alex and Sean, all of her casting disapproving gases on her.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Alisa said defensively.
"Shouldn't you be checking on Serena now?" Sean inquired mockingly.
Alisa swallowed her petulance. "Yes I am going to do it soon."
"How about now? Charles will be less on your back if you do it early." Alex responded.
"I know what Charles is like; I don't need you to tell me." Alisa snapped, causing the boys to smirk while Fate rolled her eyes.
"Someone's in a bad mood" Sean muttered, before looking alarmed at the icy gaze Alisa shot him.
Fate stepped forward. "I'll go with you if you like?"
Alisa shot a grateful look at Fate before gesturing for her to follow her. Before their departure, Alisa scowled at the boys, quickly turning her attention back to the matter at hand. As they hurried down the long corridors, there was silence as they were both lost in their own thoughts. Before they both realized they were climbing into the car and driving towards Serena's apartment within minutes.
When they arrived, Alisa frowned, instantly sensing something wrong with it. Fate noticed her expression and created an concerned one on her own face.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing just stay here." Alisa said, attempting to take all fear of the unknown from it.
Fate narrowed her eyes. In the short time that she'd known Alisa, she'd come to think her of her as family, which was rare as Fate didn't naturally trust people. So automatically she'd had noticed her independent attitude, which was beginning to annoy Fate.
"I am coming with you." Fate snapped, pushing past her and walking into the building.
When they arrived outside the door, Alisa knocked, as she waited for Serena to answer.
After five minutes of silence, she knocked again, shooting a wary glance at Fate.
As the moments passed, Alisa grew impatient, resulting in her using one of many her mutations to open the door.
"Serena!" Alisa called, striding into the apartment, scanning the rooms warily.
Fate entered behind Alisa, casting skeptical glances around the apartment. Due to the silence that echoed across the apartment, Serena was clearly no where to found .
"Oh gosh." Alisa muttered to herself, as she hurried around the apartment, searching for Serena. She'd knew from the moment she stepped out of the car that something was wrong. Her heart lurched as she searched as worry gripped her for both Serena's and everyone else's sake. Where could she have gone?
Alisa attempted to convince herself that she'd just gone for walk in a feeble attempt to try and placate her rising hysteria.
As they both entered the living room, they noticed that the furniture was destroyed in some places confirming Alisa's worse fears.
"Someone has taken fear." Fate breathed.
Alisa closed her eyes, breathing deeply as she tried to figure to do next. Her immediate thought was to call Charles; however the inevitable disappointed tone that she would be subjected top fueled her hesitation. Slowly, Alisa retrieved her phone from her pocket and dialed Charles's number.
"Hello?" Was Charles's polite tone after a few rings.
Alisa gulped, shooting a nervous glance at Fate. Fate glared back, urging her to answer him.
"We have a problem." She said, pausing to break the news to him "Serena has been kidnapped."
"How could you let this happen?" Charles snapped, when they returned from Serena's apartment. He was furiously wheeling along in his wheelchair as Alisa and the others struggled to keep up with him. None of them had ever seen Charles like this and all of them kept exchanging wary looks.
"I am sorry". Alisa said defensively. "I tried, I didn't for this happen."
Charles stopped abruptly, guilt suddenly present inside of him at Alisa sincere tone.
"No I am sorry Alisa." He said apologetically "I am feeling a little out of sorts today."
The rest of continued to gaze Charles, but this time with pity. None of them could bare of something happening to him.
"Anyway we need to find her. I will go and try to use Cerebro to try and pinpoint her location. But first, we have to Erik."
Protests erupted from the others in unison.
"What!" Sean barked "Are you mad?"
Charles was almost certain that he probably would be if this sort of thing became regular part of his life.
"Erik needs to know about this. He loves her, or will love her?" Charles reasoned, while shooting a confirming look at fate.
All eyes turned to Fate, who shifted uncomfortably at the sudden attention.
"Yes I think it's a good idea to let Erik know." She said, earning a groan from everyone else.
"Fine. But how are we supposed to contract him?" Alisa questioned.
Beside Fate, Hank smiled.
"I can help with that." He said. "Follow me."
Hank turned from them, and started to walk in the opposite direction to their original destination. He led them down the corridors until they finally came to 2 silver doors. Hank retrieved a key from his pocket and opened the doors to reveals a large science lab with a huge screen in the far corner. Intricate equipment was scattered adequately across the room, most of it looking unused.
"Wow. Nice." Alex breathed in approval, surprisingly awed the view.
"Thanks." Hank said, with a small smile.
He led them over to the large screen that was situated in the corner, pulling out a keypad and tapping on the keys.
"This screen can connect directly to the identical screen in Erik's lair. If I send out a signal then it will notify Erik" Hank explained.
Charles nodded. "Impressive."
Hank flushed. "Thank you."
Alex frowned, missing something.
"But, how were you able to connect 2 screens." He inquired.
Hank smiled. "I won't say because its complex for your feeble brain to understand."
Alex scowled, stepping towards Hank menacingly, but was then pulled back by Alisa.
After that, all that could be heard was tapping of the keyboard. Then in the moments that followed, the screen sprang to life with a view of Erik. He was sat at a desk, writing down furiously on a piece of paper. His brown hair was ruffled and his brow was furrowed.
"Erik." Charles called softly.
Erik's head snapped up abruptly before noticing Charles on the screen. As Erik walked towards them, he tried to keep the shock off his features.
"Charles." He smirked "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Erik, long time no see." Charles replied.
Erik narrowed his eyes, curiosity prominent on his features.
"Erik, I have something to tell you. Serena has been kidnapped." Charles said.
An expression of rage passed across his face before returning to neutral.
"How do you know about Serena?" He demanded "Have you been watching me?"
"No more like watching Serena, it's a good job we have been." Alisa cut in.
Erik glared at her. "Was I taking to you?"
Charles scowled. "Erik there's no need to be rude."
"Yes there is Charles because I don't see the point in this. I don't care about Serena or the face that she's missing" Erik snapped.
Fate narrowed eyes at him. "He's lying."
Erik raised his eyebrow mockingly.
"Oh really, and are you a telepath?." He mocked.
Fate smirked. "No I can see in to the future. And we both know your future is with Serena."
Erik growled warningly.
"Erik, please just come and talks about this, Be rational." Charles reasoned.
"Fine where do we meet?" Erik asked.
"The fields near the centre of the city." Charles suggested.
"Alight." Erik said, before the screen cut off.
"Come on lets go." Charles said.
Within the next 15 minutes, they had arrived at field., however they kept their distance.
Raven had decided to come Erik, mostly she was eager to get a glimpse of Charles.
He looked the same as he same did, and she couldn't help but feel nostalgic every time she looked at him. When they made eye contact, Charles smiled.
Hello old friend, Raven suddenly heard Charles's voice in her head.
Hello Charles, I miss you, She thought without meaning to.
I miss you too, He replied in her head, shooting her a sad smile.
"So Erik, what's your problem with Serena?" Charles said out loud.
"Remind me again why I have to justify myself to you?" Erik snapped.
"Erik don't be difficult" Charles scolded.
"If you must know, I found she was a mutant hunter, her family have been for generations" Erik admitted, reluctantly.
"Serena isn't a mutant hunter" Alisa snapped "Her family is yes. She knows nothing about it."
Realization struck Erik abruptly, spreading within him, while slowly turning into dismay. He'd pushed Serena for nothing, and now she'd probably near forgive him for hurting her. Loss engulfed him, not unlike the loss his mother. He wanted to lash out at someone, but that wouldn't save Serena.
"Okay we need a plan. Now." Erik said adamantly.
Charles smiled. "I am already one step ahead of you."
After a lot of arguing on Erik's part, they finally decided that Chares would attempt to find Serena with Cerebro. Although she wasn't a mutant, Charles would still be able to get an idea of where she was.
Without Charles had let Erik and Raven into the mansion to watch as Charles searched for Serena despite the protests of the others.
"Despite what he's done, I still believe that there is some good in him." Charles argued "Serena is the one who will let that side of him flourish, we have to give him a chance."
Alisa shot him a hard look. "Erik is incapable of Redemption."
Charles glared at her.
That's unfair and you know it. Or are you forgetting your past? Charles scolded to Alisa in her head.
The rest of them looked at Alisa and Charles instantly knowing that they were speaking telepathically. Alisa stayed silent, knowing that he was right.
Charles then smiled and lead them towards Cerebro where Erik and Raven were aready waiting with Hank.
"Lets get started then." Charles said.
Erik narrowed his eyes. "This better work Charles."
Charles chuckled. "I do hope that Serena will encourage you to be less hostile when we find her."
Raven smiled at this, which Charles and gave her a wink.
While the others et up Cerebro, Raven looked at Hank, who was busy pressing buttons.
"I see your comfortable in your own skin now." She observed.
Hank jumped slightly at her voice and nervously. She hadn't changed a bit in appearance, except for her coppering red hair being slightly longer and past her shoulders. However, there was something undeniably different about her. She was happier, and looked more content.
"Y-yes" He stammered "I eventually realized you were right."
Raven smirked.
"Oh and I would just like to say that I am sorry, for saying that you weren't beautiful." Hank confessed "You are beautiful. I was wrong, and I am sorry."
Raven's heart warmed at his confession. It surprised her how much his words had hurt her at the time, and how much she apprecia
ted the apology then.
"Thank you, that means a lot." She said, beaming at him.
Hank looked away from her then, embarrassed at his confession. Meanwhile, Charles had just put the helmet, closing his eyes as he did so.
"Once again, what an adorable lab rat you are Charles." Erik smirked.
"Shut up Erik." Charles snapped back causing Erik to chuckle.
As the machine was turned on, Charles felt the power of the machine latch on to his mind. He searched amongst the thousands of humans for Serena.
"I can't find her." Charles frowned.
His mind was whirling, straining to pinpoint Serena's location.
"What do you mean?" Erik demanded "Try harder."
Charles pushed his mind, attempting to make it stretch as far as it could go. Charles was about to give up when suddenly Serena's location flashed before him. It was quick, but slow enough for him decipher it.
"I've found her."
So yes thats chapter 14! I felt like I had to make the reunion between Raven and Charles nice because I hated the fact that they don't interact much in the other x-men films.
