Back in the Real World, within Samantha's bedroom, Kakeru was lying on his sister's bed as his eyes slowly opened, but were dull and blank as if he was so confused and deep in his mind.
'What am I? Why did Lucemon betray me? Then again... maybe I did know all the time he was planning to do so. He was never nice to me when I was a little boy' Kakeru thought.
-Flashback, many years ago-
"But why can't I see what the humans are like, Lord Lucemon?" A four-year-old Kakeru asked as he hugged an In-Training Genamon, causing Lucemon to looked down at them and say back. "Because those humans vermin banished you because of your love for your Digimon! You must turn that love into hate!"
"But I want to know the truth." Kakeru replied, which just angered Lucemon further.
"How dare you disrespect me!" Lucemon snapped as he struck Kakeru's face and slashed his left eye, causing the boy to scream in pain and then clutch it.
-Back to the present-
Kakeru put a hand over his left eye where the scar he had gotten from Lucemon was, while his thoughts were left in confusion and conflict.
'But am I not the assassin for Lord Spectermon? All my life I thought my parents abandoned Genamon and me. But that woman and that fox said that time'
Then he remembered Rika and Renamon's words.
"I never abandoned you at all! I would have raised you to be a great Tamer like your sister. We loved you and we still do." Rika's voice called out in his mind, followed by Renamon's voice, which said. "It's Lucemon who should be your enemy! He's been filling your minds with lies. We never abandoned you. Lucemon took you away from us. Genamon, Kakeru, Rika and I, as well as your fathers, we really want to have you back in our arms, to be reunited as a family."
"If you've come back to us, we will love you no matter what. After all, isn't that what a mother's supposed to do? So please, please leave Lucemon and come back to us." Rika's voice then said in Kakeru's head, making him ask. "What am I supposed to believe now?"
Kakeru thought deeply, before his eyes fixed on the bedroom as he rose up and looked around.
"Where am I? Why am I...?" Kakeru began to ask, but stopped when he heard a groan from below and saw Genamon slowly rise to his feet.
"Genamon?" Kakeru questioned.
"Kakeru? After what had happened, I thought I was going to be deleted." Genamon said as he remembered telling Wizardmon to protect Renamon.
"I thought the same thing." Kakeru admitted as he looked around the room once again.
"But where are we now?" He then asked, removing himself from out of bed and shakily walking towards the balcony.
"I don't know but the presence in here is... warm" Genamon said in reply, feeling comforted and as though he and Kakeru had been in the room long ago, making Kakeru nod as he opened the balcony door, walked by it and then looked up at the sky.
"Am I back in the Real World?" Kakeru asked, before he looked down at Genamon and asked his partner. "Genamon, do you remember when we are kids?"
"Yeah. All I remember, is the dark times how Lucemon trained us to be assassins." Genamon replied, but as he went on, an uneasy feeling built up inside of him.
"We were ordered to eliminate that girl, Samantha and that Digimon, Ruilmon, but that time when they said they were our sisters..."
"I don't know if I believed them or believed Lucemon, but when he attacked that woman and that fox Digimon." Kakeru said, before he stopped and looked when he saw a photo of Rika and Takato with baby Samantha and Kakeru in their arms and another one of Guilmon and Renamon, smiling and holding Genamon's and Ruilmon's Digi-Eggs, shocking them as Genamon walked over and picked up the photo with his Digi-Egg in it.
"Is it? It's my Digi-Egg?" Genamon got out, surprised, as was Kakeru, who then asked. "Is this our home?"
"Mommy! Daddy!" A sudden voice from below called, causing Kakeru and Genamon to look down to see a happy little boy and girl running towards their parents in a loving hug.
"Oh my sweet darlings, we will be always be happy together." The woman laughed as she hugged her children.
"I love you so much." She then said, continuing to embrace the two children, who smiled and hugged their mother back.
"Love?" Kakeru whispered to himself as if he still couldn't sink this information in. "What is love? All that Lucemon taught us is to hate."
Then Kakeru and Genamon were struck with a horrible flashback of them attacking and destroying an innocent Digimon family, causing their eyes to widen with horror at what they had done.
"No... if this is family love, then what have we done?" Kakeru asked in despair.
"We attacked and harmed so many innocent Digimon back then. And if Lord Spectermon planned to destroy this world to take away the love that family got, then..." Genamon started to say, but couldn't bring himself to finish it.
And it was at that moment Kakeru looked on in horror at what he and Genamon had done as tears came out of his eyes.
But it didn't stop there as the tears poured from his eyes, feeling not only Kakeru's pain, but the pain in his own heart, Genamon began to cry too.
"What is it that they have and we don't? What have we done?" Kakeru sobbed, continuing to cry, as did Genamon, even after a female's voice called out. "Kakeru!"
Kakeru turned around to see Rika and a naked Renamon, who had just came out of the shower, behind them, who heard their sons crying and quickly came in to see what had caused such despair, though both already had a good guess.
"You're finally awake. We were so worried." Rika said, relieved to see them alive.
Kakeru and Genamon just stood there like statues, staring at Rika and Renamon as the tears continued to pour from their eyes, which Rika and Renamon noticed.
"Genamon, you're crying..." Renamon said, feeling empathy for her child as she reached out her hand and offered. "Please come to me. We all missed you so much, my dear son."
"Son? Then you...?" Genamon asked as he slowly reached his hand out towards his vixen mother.
"Kakeru, please take my hand as well." Rika said as she slowly extended her hand out to her son.
And though Kakeru was hesitant at first, he then let his hand out and put it in Rika's hand, while Genamon's claw made contact with Renamon's paw, filling the boys with a long forgotten feeling of warmth and love.
That feeling grew more when Rika and Renamon pulled the boys into a loving hug, which stunned Kakeru, while Genamon was stumped as Renamon's boobs were smushed to his face, making him feel a little uncomfortable, but was distracted as, to their surprise, Rika and Renamon were crying too.
"I was so happy. I thought we had lost you forever when Lucemon kidnapped you. All these years, we wanted to bring you back and never gave up hope." Renamon sobbed as she continued to hug Genamon, not wanting to let him go.
"With your fathers, we've been searching for you for our entire lives. Oh, Kakeru. I missed you and I love you so much." Rika sobbed, not wanting to let Kakeru go either, for part of Rika feared she would lose him again.
'Love? So this is... love?' Kakeru thought, confused somewhat, but realizing the truth, he couldn't hold it anymore as he held up his arms and returned Rika's hug.
"Mother..." He whispered, hugging her, while he let his head rest on Rika's shoulder.
"Mum... I'm so sorry..." Genamon sobbed as he returned Renamon's hug as well, while he too cried, upset on what they had become and what they had missed out on because of Lucemon and his selfish acts of revenge.
And as the reunited family remained in place, holding each other, Takato and Guilmon ran into the room to see their sons and wives embracing and crying, before Kakeru and Genamon noticed the brunette and Hazard Digimon, tears still streaming from their eyes.
Rika and Renamon smiled as they saw Takato and Guilmon enter, before she broke the silence and told Kakeru. "And this, my dear son, is your proud father, Takato Matsuki."
"Are you alright now, Kakeru?" Takato asked as he and Guilmon walked over to them.
Kakeru looked at Takato before he saw his mother smile and allowed him to go to his father, while Genamon walked slowly towards his father, before Genamon, unable to hold his emotions, rushed to Guilmon and hugged him as he continued to cry.
"Dad... I... I am so sorry..." Genamon wept as Guilmon smiled, returned his hug and stroked the back of his son's head.
"It's alright now, son. You're back." He replied gently, tearing up a little.
And while Genamon was hugging his father and crying, Kakeru had rushed to Takato, where he hugged his father and quietly wept.
"Father... I am so sorry for everything I..." Kakeru began to say, most upset, but stopped as Takato hugged him tighter and told him. "Shh... it's ok, son. You're back with us, that's all that matters."
-A while later-
After getting all their sorrow out, Kakeru and Genamon sat with their parents on the sofas.
And though both still felt bad for what they had done, Kakeru and Genamon had some questions that they hoped Takato, Rika, Guilmon and Renamon could answer.
"So all this time you were trying to find us?" Kakeru asked, making Rika nod in reply.
"And I was kidnapped by Lucemon when I was just a newborn?" Kakeru then questioned as he clenched his hands into fists on his knees, hating Lucemon for what he had done, not only to him and Genamon, but to his parents, their friends and sisters.
"If only we had known this from the beginning!" Genamon snarled, wanting nothing more than for Spectermon and those remaining as his loyal subordinates to perish.
"We know how much suffering you two have gone through. Wizardmon even gave his life to save Genamon when he was about to die." Guilmon said sadly, which, hearing that Genamon looked horrified and asked. "Wizardmon's gone?"
"He sacrificed himself to save you." Rika said softly to Genamon.
And while the news of Wizardmon's sacrifice was another pain in his heart, Kakeru then realized something.
"Where's Samantha? And Ruilmon?" He questioned, wanting to see his sister and Genamon's in order to thank and apologize for everything that had happened in the Digital World.
Kakeru's question caused Takato's expression to then turn stern before he said. "They're fighting Spectermon as we speak."
"What? They're fighting Spectermon?" Genamon gasped.
"Genamon..." Renamon said as she and Guilmon approached him and put her hand on his.
"Your sister is trying her best to save you and both worlds. But please, we need your help to stop him. Samantha and Ruilmon have mastered Biomerging and even have a powerful team on their side, but I fear that may not be enough to stop an evil like Spectermon. They need you. And once Spectermon is defeated, we all can start again as a family. We'll help you forget your dark past and we can show you what family love is. So please..." Rika said, pleading and almost in tears as she and Takato both held Kakeru's hands.
Kakeru looked at his parents with a concerned look on his face, before he started comparing the dark past and his services of Spectermon to the love and warm feelings of Takato, Rika and Samantha, making him rise from his seat.
"Lord... no... Spectermon, he and Lucemon tried to use me and Genamon for their selfish and evil purposes, making us into tools of death. I cannot let him destroy this world, not after seeing the happy families they have here, as well as you guys. I have... no... I must defeat Spectermon." Kakeru said in a determined tone that reminded his parents of Takato when he was the leader of the Digimon Tamers.
Takato and Rika smiled at this as Kakeru agreed to help, causing Genamon to stand proudly and say. "And I'll be more than willing to help you. He'll pay for messing with the two worlds and us. We'll crush Spectermon alongside our family!"
Guilmon and Renamon were delighted to hear that, both overjoyed to have their son back.
"That's great. But first we need to give you a haircut because of that fringe covering your eye. And before you go, I got a little present for you." Rika smiled as she then walked behind a couch and withdrew a black shirt, blue trousers, a red long jacket, brown belt and new boots.
"These clothes are more suitable than that dark and evil armour you are wearing." She commented, handing the clothing to Kakeru, who smiled and nodded, grateful for the first gift he had ever received in his life.
"And Genamon... Guilmon and I will have you wash up first before we return. I didn't finish my shower and I would be happy if we had a bath as a family." Renamon smiled, making Guilmon blush at his naked wife, while Genamon just nodded.
"Thank you, mother." Genamon replied, while Kakeru thanked his mother and father deeply, before he pronounced. "Spectermon, I won't let you do this. This time, I am going to do what I should have done a long time ago. Samantha, Ruilmon, everyone, don't worry. We're coming."
