Chapter thirteen: Friday's death sentence (part three)

Kagome looked down and spotted something on the ground, she picked it up and her eyes widened," Kya-chan…. It's positive…" she breathed. A sob racked Kya's body and tears started to spill out of her eyes. She allowed the tears to come, she didn't care anymore.

[Sunday morning]

Kya woke up and sat up stretching her petite body. After that she looked over at Inuyasha, who was sleeping sitting up. Kya just stared at him a moment, then softly giggled to herself.

Kya inched closer to Inuyasha and poked him. He woke with a start and looked around him wildly. Then he calmed when he saw Kya right there and he scowled at her. Kya just laughed some more while Inuyasha continued to pout.

"I thought you said you'd wake me up when you got tired?" She teased Inuyasha. He turned his head away.

"You were sleeping so soundly, I ended up falling asleep before I even realized it! So it's your fault that I fell asleep!" Kya looked at Inuyasha strangely,

"Huh? How does that make sense?" she asked, Inuyasha looked away, light blush returning to his face. He was starting to blush a lot around Kya. Inuyasha's head snapped towards Kya when she cried out a small sound of pain.

"Oi, you okay?" he asked, scooting over to her. Kya tried to smile, about to reassure Inuyasha when she felt the pain again and grimaced. Inuyasha scooted the rest of the way over to her and took Kya's arm into his hand.

Kya's arm seemed rather skinny, almost like she wasn't eating enough, but he didn't dwell on that for long. He looked and saw the cut from the day priors' fight. It looked like it was starting to get infected. She hadn't cleaned it out properly before going to bed.

Inuyasha scowled slightly at Kya, she just laughed nervously. He then turned his attention to her wound, and he started lightly picking at it, getting the scab off and all the gross things out of it, letting the blood start flowing down her arm again,

"Inuyasha! What're you-"Kya was cut off by Inuyasha when he leaned forward and licked her cut. Very unpleasant shivers ran through Kya's body before she went rigid.

Inuyasha licked the wound a couple more times before pulling his mouth from Kya's arm. He looked up at her and sat up fully," that'll heal up in about a day, be more careful when you get wounded. You're only a human!"

Kya blushed when she saw Inuyasha blushing," but, but why'd you do that?!" Kya nearly screamed. Inuyasha turned towards her sharply and opened his mouth to reply, but nothing came out. All that left Inuyasha's mouth was a high pitched squeak.

Kya sat there for a moment, then, she started to laugh at Inuyasha, making Inuyasha once again puff out his cheeks childishly and turn away from her.

After Kya finished laughing she stood up and started to walk towards the children, still giggling lightly. Waking them up by shaking them softly, Kya slowly but surely got all the children up as they started to rub their tired eyes of sleep.

When she finished, Kya walked over to Inuyasha.

"Inuyasha, could you go catch some food for us? Me and the children will look around here for any berries and plants." Inuyasha nodded and headed off.

Kya gathered the children and made a game out of finding the berries and plants. First telling them what the plants looked like she sent groups of three, one older child in every group, to find the berries and plants.

Kya sighed and started looking around for some berries. She had a couple small children with her as well.

She searched around then found some wild raspberries. She found it strange but took them anyway and brought as much back as she could.

Once returning to the small campsite, Kya found that all the other children had had as much luck as herself, finding a assorted bunch of nuts, plants and berries. Kya smiled once seeing this,

"Good job everyone!" she congratulated. All the children blushed and laughed in happiness.

"Thanks Onee-chan!" one of the children called out. Kya was surprised as the rest of the children said the same. The surprise was soon gone from Kya's face as she smiled softly at them all.

[Time skip, boop :P]

Inuyasha returned not even an hour after leaving to find a fire and all the children around it laughing happily. Kya had made a spit so that they could cook whatever Inuyasha caught. Inuyasha smiled and walked forward; putting down the many animals he had caught.

Most of what he caught was fish, but he had caught a deer, some birds and some other rodents.

Kya turned and saw Inuyasha; she smiled at him and walked over to the fresh kill," good job Inuyasha! Everyone'll be happy and fully fed!" she exclaimed happily, this just made Inuyasha blush.

Kya turned and pulled a pocket knife from well her pocket and started to skin and scale the animals and fish.

Kya instructed the children to look for sticks around the site while she worked. She then looked straight at Inuyasha and said seriously,

"Keep an eye on them. You never know, those men might man up and come back." Inuyasha nodded his head and watched over the kids, making sure they didn't accidently hurt themselves with the sticks or while they played sword fighting games with each other.

He also kept a watchful eye on the shadows in the forest.

…..

Most of the food had been cooked and everyone was eating happily. Kya smiled at the children as she cooked the last of the meat. The children sure were hungry, but that made sense, being that they hadn't really eaten when they were running away from the bandits.

[Time skip]

After everyone was stuffed Kya and Inuyasha gathered the children and headed for their village. Kya asked that everyone help carry the last of the food so that they could eat it for lunch later. They all agreed and each held some of the lunch, making sure not to drop any, and then they were on their way.

They walked for hours on end because of the large group they couldn't move quickly. Kya got the children to sing as they made their way to the village.

That kept the kids occupied as well as keeping them from asking "are we there yet?" and to keep their minds on something other than the possibility of being ambushed, Kya and Inuyasha getting killed and them sent to that brothel the men had been talking about the day prior.

They had briefly stopped for a quick lunch break before heading off again.

….

It was early evening when Kya, Inuyasha and the children finally arrived at the village.

The villagers looked at the newcomers and stopped in their tracks when they saw the missing children. Cries of happiness filled the air as the parents and children ran to each other in happiness.

Exclamations of missing's' of the other were heard all around, and in that, Inuyasha and Kya quietly slipped away.

Some of the children realized this and ran to the boarder of the village and they looked around wildly for them, then looked up and yelled at the top of their little lungs,

"THANK YOU! ONEE-CHAN! ONII-CHAN!"

And with that, Inuyasha and Kya fully slipped away as the children's parents went on asking them why they were yelling and the wild story of what happened was told by all the children to the whole village.

….

Kya was riding on Inuyasha's back because it was much quicker that way.

They traveled well into the late hours of the night until they finally arrived at their own village.

At the entrance Kya climbed off of Inuyasha's back and walked into the village.

They were met with widened and worried filled eyes with relief washing over their features the second they saw them from the villagers as they walked to Miroku's house. Walking through the door, Inuyasha and Kya expected the response that was shouted from the mouths of everyone there.

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!" Kya covered her ears and Inuyasha flinched from the noise, not covering his ears for some reason.

Kya laughed nervously, looking away from Sango and the rest. Inuyasha sighed and sat down. Kya sat next to him and scratched the back of her head sheepishly.

"I guess I should start with this. Sorry for worrying everyone. But, I had very good reason!" Kya defended. Sango looked her over a moment,

"Then tell us this so called good reason." Kya laughed nervously again then started to explain the day priors and the days' events to everyone there, Sesshomaru wasn't there.

…..

"And so we dropped the children off at their village and came back here. That's about it." Kya finished. Everyone sat in silence slowly absorbing what Kya had just said.

Slowly nodding her head, Sango was able to grasp everything that they had said.

"Are you two hungry?" she asked. Kya and Inuyasha's ears perked up at that.

"I'm starving!" Kya exclaimed. Sango smiled and started a fire under the pot in the middle of the home. Kya could smell the delicious smells of the food already in there, it smelled like stew.

…..

Eating her fill, Kya yawned and thanked Sango for the meal before slipping into a deep slumber. Inuyasha looked at the back of Kya's head, and then he looked at everyone else which were only Sango, Shippo and Miroku.

Rin was asleep with the twins on her and the youngest was on Sango's back, in a cloth wrapped around its body.

Anyway, back to the awake ones, Inuyasha had a look like he had something to say. Sango raised one delicate brow at him,

"What is it Inuyasha?" she asked. Inuyasha sighed and stayed silent for a while longer before looking up at everyone again.

"I have a question to ask ya," they nodded their heads, urging him on, so, Inuyasha continued.

"Would you like to go on another adventure with me?" he asked. They all looked at him in a confused manner, Inuyasha decided to explain.

"I've decided I want to find that girl from long ago. I want to know what's happened to her, how she knew what she knew and all that. You don't have to look for her with me but I'd, I'd really appreciate it." Inuyasha struggled to say the last bit, a light blush starting to coat his cheeks.

"And besides, you already promised you'd help me find her when you first found out about her." He smirked lightly. Everyone smiled in return,

"Of course Inuyasha! But, why're you keeping it from Kya-chan? Are you planning on not taking her?" Miroku asked. Inuyasha shook his head,

"I'm taking her, I just wanted your impute before asking her." Everyone smiled and decided it was time for bed, so they all bid goodnight and went to sleep.

[Monday morning]

Kya woke up and stretched. Her body felt much more relaxed. She sighed in content and looked about her.

Everyone was still sleeping.

Kya glanced out the window and saw that the sun was already up. It was just past down, so, she decided to set to work.

…..

Everyone started to slowly wake up, something pulling them from their sleep. At first they fought against it, trying to stay in their dream states longer before the thing pulled the tiniest bit harder. The thing was a heavenly smell, food.

Everyone woke up, blinked a few times and sat up. They all saw Kya standing over the pot, cooking something delicious.

Following his nose, Shippo walked over and peered inside the pot. Chopped vegetables were floating in a brown broth. Pieces of meat were in there as well.

Kya smiled down at Shippo," it's almost ready," she said happily, Shippo smiled largely right on back. Inuyasha sat up and leaned against the wall behind him. Kya was definitely strange. She was able to change her moods so quickly, it was really weird, but, it was part of what made Kya, Kya.

He didn't know what had brought that thought on but it was a true fact.

The food was soon finished and Kya served it all up.

…..

The rest of the day was spent not really doing much. Kya helped out with the house and anything the village had problems with, she also kept watch.

Kya still remembered what Inuyasha had said about her "scent". It seemed to attract demons, which wasn't very good, so she spent most of her free time making sure nothing came to attack the village on her account.

When night fell, Kya was well energized, and after dinner, Kya announced that she was going on a walk. Inuyasha decided to go with her, saying that he needed to talk to her which brings us to the present time.

Inuyasha and Kya were walking silently through the forest. Inuyasha looked down at Kya; she had a peaceful look on her face with a small calm smile.

"Oi, Kya?" Inuyasha called. Kya looked at him,

"Hmm?" she lazily responded.

"I have something to ask," Inuyasha began. Kya tuned in, nodding her head to let him know she was listening. Inuyasha took a deep breath and let it out slowly. He didn't know why he felt so nervous, he just did.

After a few minutes of getting rid of his nervousness, Inuyasha stopped and turned to Kya, she stopped as well, looking up at him. Inuyasha smiled,

"I wanted to ask if you wanted to help me with something," Kya nodded her head, urging him on, so, Inuyasha continued.

"I knew someone a while ago, well, a long time ago. I don't know where she is and I want to find her and see how's she's doing. It was about fifteen years ago when I met her. She was a kid then so she's probably an adult now.

"I just wanna see if she's doin' good and all, she was very kind when I first met her so I just, wanted to find her again."

Inuyasha looked at Kya. She looked like she understood, but slight confusion shone in her eyes.

"Who is she?" Kya asked after some time of just staring. Inuyasha sighed; this was the part he dreaded,

"I dunno. I only met her once, and that was during my time on the tree, I can't seem to remember her name, though she told me. "Kya nodded her head.

"So, you wanna find her, I'm guessing you remember what she looks like, and thank her?" Kya concluded, looking at Inuyasha, he nodded his head and Kya smiled.

"Great, I'm in, but we have to prepare, we should probably tell Kagome, so we can't leave until we can contact her, hmm…." Kya put a finger to her chin, thinking hard about it. Inuyasha listened, but didn't understand why they had to tell Kagome,

"Oi," Kya stopped and looked at him," hmm?" she hummed.

"Why do we gotta tell Kagome?" Kya sighed," because, she'd want to know. I'm guessing you don't want to be killed by her 'sit' attack?" Inuyasha's face turned pale at the thought, Kya laughed,

"Anyway, we can't get in contact with her until she comes back from summer vacation. She went to one of the islands so it'd be hard to get her, and besides, I don't feel like spending a bunch of money on a plane ticket to one of the islands, I don't even think her parents know which ones she's at!" Kya sighed.

"So, we have to wait. My summer vacation stops before Kagome's does so I have the school festival to prepare for, I am required to participate in the festival, and so I won't be coming back here until way later." Kya sighed,

"I really wanted to spend most of my time here, but I can't skip out on school…." Inuyasha looked at her like she was crazy,

"But you've been doing nothing but skipping." He stated. Kya laughed nervously," Yeah, that's a totally different matter…." Kya looked up at Inuyasha,

"I'm required to go to school for the festival. I don't usually go to school for other reasons that I'm not entirely willing to explain at the moment. In order for me to graduate middle school I have to partake in the festival, that way I won't be held back another year while everyone in my class moves on to high school. I'm just tired of middle school so I'm participating in the festival, hey, you might even be able to come visit, though I probably won't be able to show you around. Everyone in my class will probably elect me as the head of everything so that I have to do all the work while they can be lazy asses."

Kya sighed again. Inuyasha's ear just twitched as he listened. After Kya finished silence reined for quite some time before Inuyasha decided to speak up,

"So, we should probably head back…." Kya glanced up at him, then down, hiding her smile from him.

"Kay." So they turned around and headed back to the village.

Upon arriving at the house, they were greeted by an almost asleep face. Sango was out and so were the children, including Rin and Shippo, leaving just Miroku there waiting for them to return. He smiled sleepily at them before falling over, out cold.

Kya caught him before his head hit the floor and set him down gently. After that, Kya and Inuyasha themselves went to sleep.
