Chapter Thirteen
Elphaba searched through the Grimmrie and the spell books she had frantically. There had to be something that could help Daphne. The girl was going to die soon if she could not find a way to save her. She closed her eyes. There was nothing she could do. She let out an aggravated sigh and slammed her fist on the book.
When she did that it moved a page in the book. She moved the page and started to read it silently. Her eyes widened as she read it then she let out a sigh of relief. Daphne was going to be all right.
"D-D- David!" Daphne screamed. She sat straight up in the bed and began to look around frantically. Snow blinded her vision. It was like a blizzard was surrounding her. She took some deep breaths and calmed down. The blizzard stopped. She took some more deep breaths. It was just a dream, she thought to herself.
Fiyero quickly opened the door. "Are you all right?" He asked.
The girl nodded.
He let out a sigh of relief. The ice and snow had finally stopped spreading through the castle. He smiled at the girl. She looked better. Her hair was no longer dirty blonde, but a platinum blonde. Her once green eyes seemed bluer. The closer that he looked at them though, he realized that they were actually hazel.
"Are you sure that you are okay?" He questioned again.
"Yes, Mr. Fiyero, I am fine."
As soon as she finished her statement, Elphaba ran into the room. A smile was on her face. "I know what happened to you, Daphne, and why you are doing the snow thing."
Daphne's eyes widened. "You do?" She asked hopefully.
The green witch nodded. "Come on. I will explain on the way. We got some people saved."
Fiyero and Daphne nodded. It was time.
David closed his eyes as he concentrated on opening the door. He began to summon his magic. The door swung open slightly. He gently pushed it.
Glinda and her husband followed him. All three were praying silently that they would be able to escape unharmed and without getting captured again.
"So you mean to tell me that the fish lady drained my magic from me and replaced it?" Daphne asked as she flew beside Elphaba and Fiyero.
The married couple was flying on an old broom, while Daphne had nothing underneath her. The Ozian princess still had on her blue dress. She was so thankful that she had accidentally enchanted her dress to fly a couple of years ago. It made flying so much easier.
They flew faster. They were getting closer to the Emerald City. If they were lucky, they would make it through this alive.
David winced when he felt himself being slammed into the wall. He glared at Morrible. The old fish woman was stronger than she looked. He tried to free himself from her grasp, but he could not because of the temporary paralysis spell that was on him. He just glared at her.
"You, young man, have been very naughty," she said as she pulled a dagger out of her jacket.
Glinda and William wanted to help but they were under the same spell as David. They watched in horror as the evil witch lifted the knife higher and started to bring it down.
"NO!" Out of nowhere Daphne appeared. She jumped in front of the knife as Morrible brought it down.
Her parents screamed as they watched their daughter fall to the ground in a pool of blood.
