The next day she spent most the day with Glen and Mark. She asks Ric to tell Hunter she needed time with them because they meant so much to her.
"Isis, I'm going to kick his ass. I warned him." Mark said mad.
"No, that's why I needed to talk to you both. Let me deal with him. I...also have something else. I need to talk about it." Isis gave a fake half smile. She was letting them in on the development of her and Hunter but more private things she kept to herself.
"Don't you dare say you're still into him." Mark burst out.
"WHAT! YOU WHAT!? Ice!" Glen yelled.
"Shhhh! Lower your voice. Glen, you're not my dad. But, your the closest thing to it. I need to tell you this and you need to listen. Yes. Mark is right. I have feelings for Hunter. I have for years. Sometimes I feel like a fool feeling this way but, I can't help it. Mark told me once you can't help who you love." She spoke calmly.
"Love… so you love this jackass. He once was a good guy but, this prick is not the Triple H he used to be. Hell, I don't even know this jerk is most the time." Glen snarled.
"Candy Kane, I love you. You know that but, you have to let me grow up. I'm a woman. I may be screwing up letting myself fall for him again but, I have to know. You suspected I liked him years ago. You were right. I'm finally telling you the truth and trust me, It's not how I wished I was telling you. Things may get worse before they are better with him. But, I need to try to see if he could ever love me. I have to know." She hugged Kane hoping he understood.
"Alright. But, if he pretends to be into you just for sex or hurts you in any way. I'll put him six feet under." Glen said and Mark agreed he would help.
"Fair enough. But, nothing is going on with us. I just want to test the water and see where I stand. I didn't feel good about lying to you. Mark promise no more punching Hunter. If he gets out of line I'll knock him out myself. Clear the air with him. This tenseness around him doesn't help. Your friends. So please talk to him. Work it out. But, this conversation, keep it between us only." She smiled.
The next day Isis was up and ready before she knew Hunter would be stirring. She ordered room service and ate while watching reruns of reality shows. She heard his door close and she jumped up grabbing her purse shoving the rest of her banana in her mouth. Running down the hall to catch him. He got in the elevator and turned to see her on his heels. Hunter was still mad that she walked out on him. He tried to talk to her about his feelings and she dismissed him. She could see it.
"Morning." Isis smiled. "How was your day yesterday?"
He grumbled and pushed the button to the ground floor ignoring her.
"Where are we going?" She perked up.
"I'm going to meet with Vince about the show. You're not going anywhere." He stared forward watching the number on the elevator drop.
"You said to stay by you at all times. I just thought maybe I could be more agreeable is all. I could help you with things today. I know you are busy with other things besides Evolution. Stuff behind the scenes. I can help. I'm smart I can learn things fast. I always wanted to help backstage anyway. I'd like to learn or even just get coffee, run errands. Whatever you need." She tried to stay positive but, his demeanor was annoying.
"Don't you have Mark and Glen to run to. Have some more things to tell them that I do wrong?" Hunter stepped out the elevator. She tried to keep the pace with the tall man.
"Oh, that. No. We just had fun yesterday. I missed them. I don't see them much since we are all so busy. We went to movie and Glen got soda dumped in his lap." She giggled.
He tried to keep his smile back. He loved her sweet laugh. He didn't hear it much. "Fine. Just stay out of the way. When I tell you to do something no bitching about it."
"Ok. Whatever you want." She gritted her teeth at the thought of doing his bidding all day.
In the limo….
"What's the trick, Isis. Two days ago you begged me to let you out of Evolution. Now you're being nice to me? Offering to help me in other areas too. What gives?" He looked over with a frown on his face.
"I just had a lot of time to think. I can be a hand full, I know. I also know I was rude the other night. You were trying to say something nice and I was rude. I apologize. I didn't mean any of that. I was just hurting." She stopped there. She didn't see much point bring up the fact they were attracted to each other.
"So you think that is enough for me to fall for you. Sweetheart, you're not that good. You assume all I care about is money, women, and partying. You know not one damn thing about who I really am. You thought I was going to fall in love with you? You are a damn fool." Hunters words hurt saying it as much as it hurt her hearing it. Looking into her eyes his voice softened. He reached over touching her face with the back of his hand. "Oh, baby. I didn't mean that. Damn it Isis. I'm sorry. Why can't you just let me have some control? Submit just a little."
She didn't say a word. She saw in his eyes. He didn't mean those harsh words. The limo pulled up to the arena they were going to be at that night for a house show. He got out and she whispered, "I'm trying."
"What?"
"Oh...nothing." She let out a breath of frustration.
The rest of the day Isis did everything from running errands to even pressing Hunters suit for the night. Back at the hotel, she stood in his room finishing up a few things he asked her to do. To test her he asked her to sit at his feet and watch TV why he ate. Annoyed by the request she still did it without question. He did ask her to submit just a little. Remembering Ric's words she did it.
After he finished he told her to go get ready and eat her dinner in her room. To be ready in time to join Evolution going to the show. He wanted her at his side all night. She was to make sure she was attentive to him as they exited the limo at the show and out at the ring. He had a feud going with Scott Steiner. Scott was one of the men backstages who always tried hitting on her when Evolution was not around. Isis found Scott creepy and secretly wanted Hunter to get the best of him. Hunter told Isis he wanted her to wear a black long sleeve mini dress with gold beading he got her. He told Isis if she played her cards right that night he would talk to Vince about letting her in her first match soon.
