*Cody's POV*
I bolted upright in bed with a gasp. Panting, I looked over at Liz. Her long, black hair cascaded down her back. She was laying on her side, facing the crib. The crib held our only son, who had just come home from the hospital. He was almost 1 month old. My breathing slowed as I smiled peacefully over at my beautiful wife and innocent child. I heard a small cough, and turned around slowly. I nearly had a heart attack, as I rolled out of bed, glaring at the intruder. "w-what are you doing here?" I stuttered at him. He smiled coldly. "me? Why, I'm here for my… payment. Don't you remember?" Herobrine laughed as cold as his smile. My eyes widened fearfully as I remembered the night I made the deal.
Liz was twitching on the floor, slowly dying. I couldn't stand it. As I watched her die I desperately did the only thing I could. I offered him anything. Me, my life, anything. He accepted and disappeared.
I had forgotten the deal. That was, until today. "let's see. What to take." Herobrine mused. He eyes swept over the room. His eyes landed on my son. "I'll take him." Herobrine said, grinning manically. "NO" I yelled so loudly, my son started crying, and Liz woke with a start. "Cody, what going- what is he doing here." She said, stopping mid-sentence, glaring forcefully at Herobrine. "oh, you didn't tell her, did you Cody? Hmm?" "tell me what? Cody?" Liz asked, turning towards me. I lowered my eyes. In a low and quiet voice, I explained what happened that day. When I finished, Liz was looking at me shocked. "Liz, I'm sorry." I said, a single tear running down my check. "I couldn't let you die." "yes, yes this is all touching. But I want by payment." Herobrine said, obviously irritated. He started to walk over to my son's crib. "no, please, take me!" Liz begged, stepping in front of her son. Herobrine tilted his head and looked at her. "hmmm. Take you? Like it should have been in the first place?" suddenly he grabbed her wrist, and she flinched, but didn't fight him. "NO, DON'T!" I yelped, suddenly finding my voice. "Cody. Let me go. Just promise me you will look after our son." She said, smiling. "Liz… please… don't do this… I need you." I begged. "goodbye, Cody. Remember that I love you. Remind my son I died for him. Tell him I love him." She smiled sadly again. Herobrine and Liz suddenly disappeared. I knelt down on the floor, to shocked to even cry.
I had survived.
I had lived.
But I wish I was dead.
I wish I couldn't feel a single thing.
