Elena was nervous, yet somehow excited. She knew nothing would be the same. Elena and Bonnie watched their friends give up on them, and betray them in so many ways while they were dead, mainly betraying Elena though. Elena couldn't figure out this feeling inside her. She glanced at Bonnie who looked just as nervous. "So, do you know what kind of party it is?" Bonnie nodded, "I guess it's the masquerade." Elena laughed, "Perfect, last masquerade I got kidnapped. This time though, it will be me doing the damage." She looked over her shoulder at Kai and laughed when she saw him practically skipping. Bonnie was worried, to say the least. She saw this look in Elena's eyes that made her worried that someone was going to get heart. She was just about to say something when she heard Elena say they should dress in costume. Bonnie reluctantly agreed.
They finally finished picking out what they were going to wear. Elena had compelled the store owner to let them have the fashion store all to themselves. Bonnie picked out a gorgeous blue, white, and gold gown, with a white and gold mask and gold heels. Kai was dressed in a plain suit without a mask claiming he didn't care if anyone saw him due to the fact that no one knows him. Elena surveyed their outfits, "Well, Bon, you look absolutely amazing! Your dress kind of reminds me of Aladdin! Kai, you look like a penguin." Elena had decided to go with a beautiful long black down, with a white and black mask and white heels. Bonnie smiled, "Thanks 'Lena! You look simply stunning! Damon's going to wish he would've tried harder." Elena smirked, "I have no doubt of that." Bonnie noticed this smirk on Elena's face that made her stomach turn. She couldn't help but jump back to when Elena said she'd kill Kai without any thought. That was so not Elena…

As the Lockwood mansion came in view, Bonnie and Elena looked at each other hesitantly. They were kind of second guessing making an appearance. However, Elena heard a familiar voice not too far. She looked at the mansion and saw Katherine and Nadia talking. Elena glanced at Bonnie and smiled, "Hey. Just try to stay under the radar, and follow my lead when the time comes. Kai, do whatever you want." They both nodded and began walking to the backyard of the mansion. Bonnie doubted anyone that would recognize her would be back there.
Elena glanced at Katherine who was still in deep conversation and whispered, "Katherine. Nadia." They both turned and saw a girl standing about 20 feet away. Elena walked into the woods. When she heard them come up behind her asking who she was, what did she want, and a bunch of other unnecessary questions, she simply took off her mask and turned around. "I hope you guys missed me." Katherine and Nadia were speechless when they saw Elena standing there in front of them. "Oh my god…" Elena pulled them in for a hug, "I know I missed you!" Katherine laughed as she held onto Elena, "Of course we missed you! We've been trying everything to get you and Bonnie back!" Elena smiled, "I know. I saw you guys." Nadia looked at Elena confused. "I was watching you guys. Bonnie and I could see everything from where we were. Bonnie's magic was the key to getting us the hell out of that hellhole! Thanks to Bonnie and a guy who was over there named Kai, we're back! However, I need a favor Katherine!" Katherine nodded, "Of course, what is it?" Elena listened to make sure no one was eavesdropping. "Well, while I was dead, I watched as everyone I thought cared about me, gave up on saving me and Bonnie. I saw Damon give up two days after I died, and then slept with Caroline. So you see, I am quite upset with them. I need you to let me go in with Nadia pretending to be you so that I can finish some of my unfinished business before I go." Katherine glanced at Nadia then agreed, "Sure, but what are you going to do and where are you going?" Elena smiled, "I am going to give them a taste of my anger and tell each of them how I feel and that I'm out of their lives for good. And it's not just me who's leaving. Bonnie and Kai are coming with. We have no idea where yet, but we're leaving them behind. We were hoping maybe you guys would come with? But is there anything I should know before I go in there? Anything I may have missed?" Katherine closed her eyes and nodded, "Of course we'll come with! And everyone did give up. However, I don't think Stefan ever lost hope. He's still in love with you Elena. We can't say your name without his heart jumping a beat. So maybe you should be less angry with him and actually talk to him. I know you were with Damon, and I was with Stefan… but maybe, just maybe… you and Stefan are meant to be together." Elena smiled slightly, "I heard the whole he still loved me thing… and I'm not angry at him. I don't know how we would even work again though due to the fact that I left him for his brother, but I'll talk to him. Well, we should get in there Nadia. Katherine, I'll call you as soon as we're done." Nadia nodded and followed Elena's lead.
Elena walked through the door with Nadia at her side and the first person she ran into was Damon. She literally, ran into him. "Damn kitty kat, watch where you're going." Elena just stared at him, she couldn't help it. However, she was pulled out her trance when she heard him say she looked hot." She laughed, he was incredible! "I always do. I hope you remember after tonight. Follow me, honey." She smirked and walked away from him heading to where she had just heard Tyler and Caroline talking about her nights with Damon. She heard Damon following her as she walked into the room Tyler and Caroline were in. She saw them jump and then sigh with relief. "Katherine, Nadia! You guys had me scared for a second. Damon. Hey gorgeous!" Elena turned and looked at Damon as he replied, "Don't forget about tonight." Elena was disgusted. "You guys make me sick!" Caroline looked at Elena, "Excuse me, Katherine?" Elena laughed and turned to Damon and kissed him. Caroline gasped, "How dare you?! He's mine!" Elena smiled as Damon's gaze never left her. He whispered, "Elena…" Elena smiled at him, "That's right, Damon. Elena… Now Caroline, do you want to say he's yours again?" Elena turned and seen Caroline and Tyler with their faces filled with shock. Caroline was the first to speak up, "Elena, how are you here?" Elena shook her head, "It's really none of your business. I just wanted to let you know that we are back, and we're leaving." Caroline looked like she just got hit with a ton of bricks, "Where are you guys going?!" Elena shook her head again, "That's none of your business either. You guys made your choice of that when you guys gave up on us. So we're leaving, and don't try to find us because I will kill you myself. One thing you are right about though is, he is all yours now Caroline." Elena turned and faced Damon who was still in shock, "Because I am done with him. Thank god I died. It showed me your guys' true colors! Goodbye." Elena and Nadia left the room and went downstairs to find Bonnie when Elena collided with Stefan.
"Katherine, hey… look, I am so sorry about the way things ended!" Elena stared at him. He looked so sincere. All these emotions started coming back. She smiled, "Stefan, can you come with me?" She heard Damon and the others decide they were going to come find her so she figured better talk to Stefan. She vamp sped to the woods after telling Nadia to go home. When she got far enough, she turned around and faced Stefan. Elena took of her mask. Stefan just stared at her, "Your heart's beating weird Katherine, it's almost as if you're a vampire…" Elena saw his emotions change as he came to the realization that it was not Katherine whom was in his presence. "Elena!" Elena smiled and pulled him into a hug. After she pulled away, she was shocked when Stefan kissed her. She kissed back after the shock passed. It felt the same it did their first kiss. The passion and desire were all rushing back. When they stopped, Stefan looked as if he hadn't planned kissing her. "I'm so sorry Elena! I know you're in love with Damon! I just couldn't help it!" Elena grinned as she debated what to say. "Stefan…" Elena leaned in and kissed him again. She felt as if everything was finally put back in place. She pulled away, "I don't love Damon… I mean, I did. I don't know. I died, he betrayed me, and I realized it was all for the best. Because we just weren't meant to be…"

Damon was panicking. He may have just lost the love of his life because of Caroline. "Where did she go?" Damon glanced around the backyard when he saw a girl. He whispered to himself, "Bonnie." He walked up to her and patted her shoulder. When she turned around, she jumped. "Damon." He pulled her in for a hug when he noticed Elena and Stefan coming from the woods. They walked up to them and Elena rolled her eyes at the sight of Damon. "Shouldn't you be with Caroline? Anyway, Bonnie, looks like we'll stay closer to Mystic Falls as we planned. Let's go!" Damon watched as Elena, Bonnie, and some random guy walked away from him then turned to glance at Stefan. Elena looked over her shoulder and screamed, "Stefan, I'll see you later?" Stefan nodded.
Damon couldn't believe it, he had lost her. She was done. He had screwed up big time. Why wasn't she mad at Stefan though too? He turned to look at him when he heard words he never wished he heard. "Damon, I'm still in love with her…"
