Chapter 14
Training with Fire
It has been about two weeks since Elsa got dumped and about a week and a-half since I started training with Kenna to learn the element fire.
"You must show no fear!" Kenna instructed as I attempted to control the fire around me
I admit I was afraid of being burned
"The fire cannot hurt you!" Kenna said "Do not be afraid!"
She was right; no matter how close the fire got to me, neither myself nor my dress got burned.
"Fear is your enemy! It makes you unable to control the flame!"
I tried as hard as I could to not fear the fire surrounding me, but as hard as I tried I could not get over the fear and the flames sizzled out around me
"You must control the fear, Rose" Kenna said "Or else you may not truly control the flame, and if you cannot control the flame you cannot move on to learn water"
"I know Kenna and I'm trying as hard as I can, but I just can't get over my fear" I said
"Fire maybe the easiest element to control but it's the hardest to not fear" she said "But you must realize that the fire is within, it cannot hurt you"
"I've always had a fear of fire Kenna" I said "It's not easy to get over"
"Why do you have this fear?"
I began to pace, which was hard with the foot long train on my dress. I began to think of how to explain my fear
"When I was about five-or-six there was this horrible thunderstorm; I had this terrible nightmare where the house was on fire and I couldn't escape, when I woke up the rain and trees were eliminated by the lightning and it made it look like the house was on fire" I said "I began to panic, it took awhile for my mum and dad to finally calmed me down"
"You know you're quite a lot like the first Child of the Elements, Angel" Kenna said "She had the same problem with fire as you do"
"She did?" I said
"And she was also my best student and the strongest in a long run of any and all of the Children of the Elements" she said "Because you are so much like her; I know you are destined for great things Rose"
"Thank you Kenna" I said
I woke up the next morning and Elsa was in the best mood I've seen in weeks. She was gently humming the tune of the song Clarity while holding an icy Cherry Blossom in her hands
"Another flower from your secret admirer?" I stated
"Uh-huh" she said dreamily "He knew that I love Cherry Blossoms"
"We defiantly have to find out who this guy is" Alice said walking out of the bathroom with a tooth brush in her hand and her mouth full of tooth paste, after Elsa left
"Oh yeah we do" I said
I got ready and the two of us headed down to breakfast, ate with Elsa, and then met up with Clove
Elsa went to talk to her sister so Clove, Alice, and I struck a plan to find Elsa's admirer
"Okay so here's what we know" I said "Ice magic is a very rare and hard to use talent and there is one side effect… your hands are always ice cold"
"So if there is another ice wizard than that means it has to be the only other person with freezing cold hands" Clove said
"So if we meet anyone with cold hands we know who it is" Alice said
"Exactly" I said
"Good luck ladies cause we're going to need it" I said before we all headed to our classes
I went through the day not having any luck finding the admirer. I got to Divination and sat down with Ebanora, she was twirling one of her blond corkscrew-curls around her finger
"Hey Ebanora" I said
"Hi Rosie" She said with a cheeky smile (I still don't understand how she was sorted into Slytherin)
"How have you been?" I've been asking that question since she got her shadow back
"I've been good, I feel great" she said "Thanks again for helping me, Rose"
"My pleasure" I said
Divination is the most boring class in the school, but it gives me time to doodle.
After class I was already down the ladder and was leaving towards my other class when I walked into two guys one was skinny and blonde and the other was a brunette and more muscled, both were Ravenclaws
"Sorry" I said
"It was our fault" the brunette said
"I'm Rose Weasley" I said holding my hand out
"Leif Jenkins" The blond said shaking my hand (I recognized him as the Ravenclaw Seeker)
"Jackson James" The brunette said keeping his hands in his pocket (I recognized him as the Ravenclaw Beater)
"Dude don't be rude" Leif said
"Most people don't like shaking my hand" Jackson retorted
"Why not?" I asked
"My hands are always cold" he said
"Ice magic?" I questioned
"Yeah; how'd you know?" he asked
"My best friend Elsa uses ice magic" I said I watched as he averted his eyes at the mention of Elsa "Her hands are always cold too"
"Dude someone has powers like you" Leif said elbowing his friend
I looked at the clock if I didn't hurry I was going to be late
"Oh shoot" I said "It was nice meeting you but I gotta go"
"Nice meeting you too" Jackson said
"Bye" Leif said
I dashed off to Transfiguration in hopes that I won't be late
I got in just in time and plopped down next to Elsa
"Hey Rosie" she said
"Hey Elsie" I said slightly out of breath "I think I found your admirer"
"Shut up" She said excited "seriously?"
"Yeah, his name is Jackson James and he's a Ravenclaw" I said "But I don't know for sure"
"How do you know he uses Ice magic?" she asked
"He refused to shake my hand and I asked why, and he said his hands are always cold because of his ice magic" I said
"Rose you are awesome" she said
"Again I don't know for sure"
We sat through class and afterwards we met up with Clove and Alice
"So Rosie might have found my secret admirer" Elsa said happily
"Seriously?" They both said
"Yeah, he is a Ravenclaw named Jackson James" I said "But I'm not for sure"
"How many other ice wizards do you think there are?" Clove asked
"We never know Clovely" Alice said writing something in her floral note book
"Whatcha writing Alice?" Elsa asked
"A poem" she answered
"What 'bout?" Clove asked
"Breaking out your shell and getting a different prospective on the world with someone's help" she said
"Let me see" I said she handed me her note book
'So cut me from the line dizzy spinning endlessly, somebody make me feel alive and shatter me!' I read part of the middle
"Alice if you put this to music it'd make an amazing song" I said
"Really?" she asked
"Yeah" I said "Can you play an instrument?"
"Bass, why?" she asked
I looked at Elsa and Clove and they were thinking the same thing I was
"How would you like to join Personix?" I asked
"Seriously?" Alice said
Elsa, Clove, and I all nodded
"Heck Yeah" she said with the biggest smile
So we went to the music hall and we put Alice's poem to music and set up our instruments
"Alright" I said "one, two, three"
Elsa began with these really pretty bells for the beginning of the song on her keyboard
Me: I pirouette in the dark I see the scars through a mirror
Alice: Tired mechanical heart beats till this song disappears
Me: Somebody shine a light I'm frozen by the fear in me, somebody make me feel alive and shatter me!
Alice: So cut me from the line dizzy spinning endlessly, somebody make me feel alive and shatter me!
(Music break)
People began to walk in after that
Alice: If only the clockwork could speak I wouldn't be so alone
Me: We burn every magnet and spring it's babbling into the unknown
Alice: Somebody shine a light I'm frozen by the fear in me, somebody make me feel alive and shatter me!
Me: So cut me from the line dizzy spinning endlessly, somebody make me feel alive and shatter me!
(Music break)
We had a small crowd after that
Me: If I break the glass then I'll have to fly there's no one to catch me if I chose to dive, I'm scared of change and the days stay the same the world is spinning but only in grey

The room was packed afterwards and we all took a bow
"We give you Shatter Me: written by the newest member of Personix, Alice Longbottom" I said
Alice took a bow and everyone clapped
The crowd eventually left (some actually wanted autographs) and the only people left were: Albus, Scorpius, Lily, Hugo, and Anna
"That was so pretty" Anna said
"Thank you" Alice said with a smile
"You know what we should do?" Clove asked slinging her arm around my shoulders
"What?" I said looking at her
"You, me, and Elsa should go flying" she said "We all have our wings and we haven't flown with them once"
"I have once" I said
"Yeah the was a short time in the Chamber of Secrets" she said "It doesn't count"
"She's right you know" Elsa said "We haven't truly flown on our wings yet and I'm dying to try"
"Alright my testy besties" I said smiling "I say we head over to the court yard and take off"
"Hey! What about us?" Albus asked gesturing to himself and the others
"You're all on your house's Qudditch teams fly on your broomsticks" Clove said
"Come on" Anna said "Let's go fly"
Al, Anna, Lily, Scorpius, Alice, and Hugo went and grabbed their broomsticks and met us in the court yard
"So how do we do this Rosie?" Elsa asked
"What do you mean?" I said confused
"How do we fly?" she asked
"You first gotta summon your wings" I said "and for that you focus on, as cheesy as it is, happy thoughts"
"Seriously?" Elsa and Clove said at the same time
"Yeah I know right" I summoned my wings with ease (it being my fifth time summoning them); Clove and Elsa had a little trouble
"Alright now what?" Clove asked
"Concentrate on flight" I said "Your wings are just another muscle in your body; you just have to concentrate on using it"
"Did you learn this from the journal?" Elsa asked
"No I learned it from the elemental guardians" I said, both nodded understanding (I had told them and the others everything)
"Well let's go slow pokes" I said taking off at a surprising speed, leaving rainbow colored feathers behind
I flew to the highest tower of the school and waved to Professor McGonagall in her office (who waved back) before letting myself fall backwards: my hair flew around my face as I fell, I had my wings catch me near the fourth floor of the school before I took off into the sky again
"Show off!" Clove yelled barely getting the hang of flying with her pitch black wings that shimmered with soft silver lights that made them look like the night sky
I let out an excited whoop as I ignored my friend and flew up into the clouds and did a back flip in them. My latte-colored skin felt moist from the cloud. It felt so natural to fly against the wind and through the clouds.
"You know your friends are going to be mad that you're not helping them" Scorpius said flying below me on his broomstick
I laughed and looked down at him "They need to learn on their own, I can't hold their hands the entire time"
"Plus you just want to fly high?" he guessed
"Yeah, and being a show off is fun too" I said
"That's the Rose I know and love" he said with a smile
"Like I ever left" I said
"We're defying gravity!" Elsa yelled finally getting the hang of flying with her snow white wings that seemed to have a snowflake pattern on the feathers
I watched as Albus and Alice raced each other around the school; Hugo, Lily, and Anna were flying around the trees and towards Hagrid's house; Clove and Elsa were helping each other out while finally controlling their wings; While Scorpius flew beside me easily keeping up with my flying
"Race you to the Qudditch Field" I said
"You're on Weasley" he laughed
I beat him to the field by a literal feather and landed in its center
"Tired already?" He asked
"No," I said "Just thinking about how you're match against Hufflepuff tomorrow is going to go"
"I wouldn't be too worried" he said "I'll make sure not to run into to Hugo"
"Aren't you sweet?" I joked
"Hey I'd do anything for you" he said taking my hand
"Really?" I said looking at him
"Anything, you name it" he said
"I'll think of something later" I said kissing him
"I know you will"
"I wish everyday could be like this" I said sitting down on the field looking up at the sky at my friends
"What do you mean?" Scorpius asked
"No worries, completely free from all the crazy prophecy stuff" I said "It would just be nice"
"Yeah" he said "But our lives wouldn't be this interesting"
"Interesting? Are you serious? You call have a chance of dieing everyday is interesting?" I said looking at him confused
"Yeah the chance of dieing thing sucks," He said with a small laugh "But if all of that stuff had never had happened then Elsa wouldn't be a champion, you probably wouldn't have met Clove, you and I probably wouldn't have ended up together, you, Clove, and Elsa probably wouldn't have found out about your powers, and the list goes on and on Rosie"
"Yeah I guess you're right" I said with a sigh
"Why don't we go fly again?" he suggested
"Sounds like a plan" I said before taking off again
"Hey no fare!" he yell-laughed as I flew into the air
After a day of 'high flying adventures' I fell asleep and began to train with fire once again
"Welcome back, Rose" Kenna said
"Good to be back Kenna" I said, I've gotten use to Kenna's fire realm (Though the random fire sprits still take me by surprise)
"Remember what I told you last night?" she asked, I nodded "Good lets get to work"
Kenna created a ring of fire around me; I closed my eyes and took deep breaths
'Control the fear, control the fear, control the fear' I repeated over and over in my head 'conceal it, don't fear it'
The flames swirled up my arms and made it soar into the air and shift into a phoenix shape
"Kenna?" I said
"Yes?" She responded
"Why did the fire turn into a Phoenix?" I asked as the fire above me disappeared
"The fire takes the form of your Patronis charm" she said "Which must be a Phoenix"
"I haven't been able to conjure a true Patronis yet" I said slightly disappointed
"I have a feeling you will now" she said "You've have a lot of happy memories, Rose use them with your Patronis"
"What do we do now, Kenna?" I asked
"We wait until tomorrow night to continue your training" she said "For now get some rest, and dream"
I nodded and the fire realm turned into one of my weird dreams
I woke up the next morning and ran to find Scorpius before the game; I found him talking to his parents and his sister, my one thought was 'why would they be here?' and then it dawned on me… the final task was in two days
"Hey Rose!" Scorpius' voice broke me out of my trance
"Hey" I said walking up to the Malfoy family
"Sup Rosie?" Morgan said
"Nothing much" I said, "How have you been Mrs. Malfoy?"
"I've been fine thanks to you" Astoria said with a smile
I heard a squealing noise coming from somewhere
"Did anyone else hear that squeal?" Morgan asked "Or am I going mental?"
"No I heard it too" I said, "You know that sounds just like-"
That's when Elsa barreled into me at top speed almost knocking me over
"Rosie!" She squealed, "You are not going to believe what happened"
"First: You are squealing at frequencies only dogs should hear" I said "And Second: Let go of my arm, I seriously don't want frost bite on my forearm"
"Oops" She said letting my arm go "Sorry"
"Now what's going on?" I stated bluntly
"I'm going to meet my secret admirer tomorrow during the Hogsmead trip" she said
"That's great El" I said "Good luck explaining the dead grass to Mr. Flitch though"
"Ahh no!" she wined looking at the frozen, dead, grass around her feet "Not again!"
"I would suggest finding Alice before Flitch finds the dead grass" I said
"Right thanks Rosie" she said before dashing off to find Alice
I let out a deep breath
"I don't think I've ever seen Elsa that excited" Scorpius said
"I have" I said rubbing the bridge of my nose "Excitement has the same effect as sadness: Freezes over everything"
"It can't be that bad" Morgan said
"This has happened twice: once when she was excited and once when she was sad" I said "She froze over our dorm room and us and the other girls had to sleep in the common room for four days"
"Yikes" Morgan said
"Yeah I do not appreciate sleeping on the floor for four days" I said "I can handle one, but not four"
"I bet that was fun," Scorpius snorted
"I didn't talk to her for about a month" I said "I kind of want to leave this spot if you all don't mind"
"I kind of agree with you Rosie" Astoria said
We all headed towards the Qudditch Field where Scorpius left us to meet up with his team (he kissed the top of my head first)
I sat with is family, but I couldn't decide whether to root for Slytherin (Scorpius' team) or Hufflepuff (My brother, Lily, and Anna's team). I finally decided on both and I would congratulate who won and hug who lost.
The match begun: I watched Scorpius chase after the Snitch and Hugo throw the Quaffle into the goal hoops. I laughed my head off when Edward got knocked off his broom from 30 feet up
"Why are you laughing at that?" Astoria asked, "He could have gotten hurt"
"That's the jerk who dumped my best friend over a letter" I said, "He just got his Karma"
"Karma?" Morgan asked
"The believe of what comes around goes around" I said "Which means you do something bad, something bad will happen to you or if you do something good, something good will happen to you"
The match was pretty long the Snitch had flown into the stands and was hard to find
That's when she showed up
Everyone's brooms were force out of the sky, as ghostly Sophietia and human Enobaria walked onto the field
"Where is Rose Weasley?" Sophietia asked
I flew down from the stands on my wings
"What do you want?" I asked
"For you to keel over and die" Sophietia said "You have ruined everything for me"
"How so?" I said
"Well first you freed everyone with a torn shadow, second you stopped the ritual which means this idiot isn't dead" She gestured to Enobaria "Third you freed my slave, and latest news is you saved Astoria Malfoy"
"I only see the good that I've done," I said
"It's not good for me!" She yelled her form fading out for a moment
"Why are you here Sophietia?" I said
"To crush you while you haven't even mastered a single element" she said
"To late" I said making fire appear in my palms
Enobaria looked scared and nervous
"Leave now Sophietia" I said "Before we have to start a fight"
"Well I rather not get burned" She said "But wait I can't be burned; so bring it on ginger"
My fire formed a Phoenix in front of me: Sophietia began to fade extremely.
"I'll be back soon, next time with a solid form" she said before disappearing with Enobaria
"How did you do that?" Scorpius asked
"That's what I was going to tell you earlier" I said "But I didn't want to interrupt your conversation with your family"
"This is amazing" He said as my fire Phoenix flew above everyone's heads "You're amazing"
"You are so cheesy" I said hugging him
"I am aren't I" he said, I laughed
"You know that's the first time anyone has called me 'ginger'," I said
"Seriously?" he said his arm around my shoulder
"Yeah" I said "Weird right?"
"Definitely" he said
