Hey guys! I'm back from my little break and ready to give you this chapter! And if you noticed, I didn't put a preview in the last chapter because I wanted this to be a bit of a surprise. And, since I didn't have any sad songs, I had to find them and I did, so I suggest listening to the songMad world by Gary Jules while you begin to read the chapter because I thought it might also show Rigby's feelings. I'm not forcing you to play the song, it's your choice if you want to.
Also, I'd like to thank all of you for the support in the story, it really helped.
Now on with the chapter!
Chapter 14 - At the eleventh hour pt.2
With great power came great responsibility for him, but the more the heart breaks, the more he loses his confidence in himself and the survival of the world. And all that power was just a waste...
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
The axe slowly left the back of the tigress, leaving her with the deep wound that poured out her blood. Her blood raced down to the tip of the axe and dripped, the red drops joining into the little puddle that formed beside her. It was spreading all over her black attire which hid it well, but did not reduce the rate of her friends' beating hearts as they felt panicked after watching the horrifying rescue.
At first, the room was filled with the gasps of her friends, but later it turned into screams filled with pain and fear, the screams urging her to stand and confirm she is okay.
The tigress ignored the pleas and only remained on the ground. She cried silently to herself, as the pain was too great for her to handle, but she knew it would all just end in what seemed to her like a few minutes.
Bright and early for the daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
"Kelly!" Rigby yelled, running over to her before any more harm was caused.
The axe man held his weapon tightly in both hands, ready to use it on his actual target. He took some steps closer to him as he ran towards him. Rigby immediately ducked as the axe came down, only cutting a bit of his fur.
He continued to rush over to his injured friend until he was beside her, taking of her black mask to provide her with more oxygen. He tossed it to the side and looked down at her with sad eyes, placing his hands on her shoulder. "Kelly?" He spoke as he shook her.
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Kelly slowly lifted her head from the ground, turning it to face Rigby as she smiled weakly at him. She moved her hand and placed it on top of Rigby's, gripping on to it as more tears went down her cheeks. "R-rigby..." She said softly. "...D-dont worry Rigby..." Her voice was as soft as a whisper, and she would always stop to breath in and out. "Why did you do that?" Rigby asked. "I wasn't going to let them...suffer...without you...they would all die...and the world would fall...apart..."
Tears started to form in Rigby's eyes. "You...all...matter...so the world...needs you to stay...and it needs me to go..." Kelly continued, until she was interrupted by Rigby.
"No Kelly, you matter too! Some of us wouldn't have survived if it wasn't for you!"
"Shhh...hush Rigby..." Kelly closed her eyes. Her grip on Rigby was becoming loose, and she knew it was her time. "...you won't need me...they need you...so just be brave...and...save...them...all..."
...And her body became limp, as she inhaled and exhaled. Then everything was silent.
...
..."K-kelly...?"
..."Kelly?"
..."S-sh-she's...gone..."
Hide my head, I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
Rigby's head dropped as his hands left the shoulder of the deceased. He felt like crying. He had just lost three people who had all the solutions to many problems. Winter was his guide and had all the answers to the strange changes he is experiencing with his powers. Viper was really the only one who had the skills to help the injured people, like Rigby himself when he came back. And Kelly...she done everything she could make sure everyone was okay and out of danger. She even walked a whole month, no breaks, searching for Rigby when he was kidnapped. They all helped, but now, they're gone.
All the laughs and adventures he shared with Mordecai were also gone. They no longer existed to the two after all the trouble the blue jay caused. Rigby always thought things could change if he tried to fix his friendship with Mordecai, but after observing the major disasters that occur, he thought it was time to finally give up and continue with his life.
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
Rigby raised his head, looking directly at Mordecai, who noticed tears pour from his eyes. He stood up from the ground and turned around, now facing his friends who were as silent as him. "Guys, I just want to tell you that I'm sorry." Said Rigby. "For what?" Margaret asked. Rigby remained silent, turning away from them as walked to Mordecai. "Rigby?" Said Willow.
The raccoon still didn't answer. "Rigby, what are you doing?" She asked again. Something didn't feel right. Willow could just sense it. She could see how sad Rigby was, and she didn't like what he was trying to do.
Rigby continued on until he was in front of Mordecai. He didn't look at him, he looked down at the ground. His heart had broke into a million pieces and all his hope was gone. So why bother be the hero if he couldn't save anyone?
It was now that he looked up at Mordecai. "You win Mordecai, you win. You can take me and use me." Said Rigby. Mordecai was shocked that he even made this decision, since he thought he would probably fight to free himself and the world.
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
Thomas, Margaret and Willow heard the words spoken by Rigby. "Rigby, what are you saying?" Margaret asked, a hint of sadness in her voice.
I find it hard to tell you,
I find it hard to take
Rigby was afraid of telling them the truth. He was afraid of being called a failure. He was afraid of being a failure, but he has been ever since he became a hero, that's what he thought.
Rigby turned his his head, looking at the three. "I'm saying...I give up. I'm not the hero anymore. I failed you all..." A tear left his eye as he continued. "You'll do better with out me. " He finished.
Mordecai gave one of the guards a signal, and he immediately went to Rigby. He pushed Rigby, forcing him to walk to one of the rooms. Margaret noticed this, and knew something was wrong. "Rigby, wait! Where are you going?" She asked him. Rigby again stopped and turned his head once more, another tear falling from his face. "We've been through so much guys, you know that, right?" He gave his friends a small smile, and continued to walk with the guard into the room until the were covered by darkness.
"Looks like you guys are free to go." Said Mordecai. The other guards pulled the three and the Australians to a door. As they walked, Willow was trying to register what Rigby said. He left them and said they had all been through a lot as his final words, and she knew what he was trying to say. Goodbye.
Mordecai watched everyone disappear into the passage, leaving him alone in the large room. He looked down at his gun, and a thought popped into his mind. "Looks like the world has a new villain." And with that, he entered the room Rigby was in.
When people run in circles it's a very, very
Mad world, mad world
...And without a hero, it was definitely a mad world...
...TO BE CONTINUED...
Okay, a bit short, a bit sad and it feels like it was rushed. And, I know. Some of you guys a thinking "wait, isn't chapter fifteen where Rigby rescues Mordecai?" It is a bit confusing, but I know what to do about that. Hope you guys enjoyed!
Also, please vote in my poll to decide on the sequel I may or may not make for this story!
See you soon!
