Melia's Secret: Chapter 14
Itachi...
"Ready?"
"Hai."
"Go!" we both started fist and feet flying. Dodging and blocking throwing shuriken, kunai, each other. I helped her fix the few mistakes in her fighting. Then when I was worn out I showed her the phenix flower jutsu. It took her a half hour, she's the true prodigy of the clan. It's a shame noone noticed her potenital.
"Amazing, it took me 35 minutes. You beat my time by 5 minutes Melia."
"Thanks."
"You certianly are." a new voice added
"Hello Konan-sama, I apoloigize for not noticing your pressence sooner."
"Don't be, I hid my pressence and you were busy with Melia."
"So what can I do for you Konan-sama?"
"You have a mission. Pein needs you to go get information in Hidden Sand. Apparently a new village has popped up. We need to know if the rumor of Orochimaru being the leader is true."
"Sand is allied with the Leaf, the Leaf keeps track of Orochimaru through lord Jiraiya. Since Leaf and Sand are allies any information on him would be passed on to Sand." I recalled
"Exactly."
"I want another to accompany me. Kisame wouldn't last in the desert. Melia would be the best choice along with Deidara and Sasori. Sasori knows the layout, Deidara can provide transportation and Melia and I can gather information. Besides someone has to watch Deidara so he doesn't blow stuff up."
"And why not bring Deidara?" Konan-san asked
"Because he'd probably distract me and together we kinda cause trouble." Melia added
"What she said. I heard about what she and Deidara did to Kisame. They have a twisted sense of humor." I informed her
"Why do you want to bring Melia?" she asked
"I'm good at telling who's lying and noone would recognize me since the Leaf doesn't know about me neither does Hidden Sand." Melia told her
"Very well Itachi, you, Melia, Deidara and, Sasori will go retrieve intel about a new hidden village from Hidden Sand. Leave in a half hour.
Konan-san left and we went to find Deidara and Sasori.
"Ne ne, Nii-chan who's Sasori?"
"Deidaras partner. They usually go on missions together but lately he's tagged along with me and my partner Kisame, because he drives Sasori crazy after a while. There's one of them. Deidara!"
"What is it?"
"Mission! We leave in a half hour be ready."
"Ok."
"Now to find Sasori." we headed to the training ground. Sasori was having a spar with Kisame useing one of his new puppets and one he just fixed.
"Sasori!
Melia hid behind me, cute she's still shy.
"Mission time, we're going to Hidden Sand we leave in a half hour."
"I'll get ready. Who's the girl? Can I make her into one of my puppets?"
"That's not a good idea."
"Why not Kisame? She looks young but I'm sure I can turn her into the perfect puppet."
"Look closer at Itachi." Kisame chuckled.
"Sasori if you even think of trying to turn her into a puppet I'll kill you in the most brutal way possible."
'Melia, why are you grabbing my waist so tight?'
'To make him underestimate me even if only a little.'
'I'll play along then.'
"Why protect her? She's weak."
"Oh then maybe I should tell Konan-sama about what you think about her new companion. These two have grown a little close lately. I'm quite certian Konan-sama will make sure you spend time with Deidara."
"You wouldn't."
"He would. And I'll cut your arms off if you so much as touch her. Deidara won't hesitate to blow you up or make your life hell."
"Like he doesn't already?"
"Just get packed Sasori we leave in 10."
We left.
Melia...
Thank you Kisame, that guy gave me the creeps. We went to Itachis room and he helped me pack what I'd need. I wore my red cloak that he got me and I saw him smile as I put it on. Itachi packed everything he'd need in a scroll and we left.
At the gate...
"Hey Deidara!"
"So your coming? Itachi are you sure that's a good idea?"
"I trust in her abilities. She will be useful in this mission."
"I still want to turn her into a puppet."
"Try and I'll blow your arms off."
"Thank you Deidara." the voice of Melia sounded
"Sasori!" the dark voice of my brother sounded
"What did Kisame and I tell you? Make one more remark and I will kill you."
"Can we get going now?" I pleaded.
"Very well. Deidara, bird please."
"You got it Itachi."
Deidara created a medium sized bird. Itachi picked me up and jumped on. We made our way due east towards the Hidden Sand village.
"Itachi and I can act as civilians. Sasori-san you know the layout of the village what's a good place to gather information?"
"The market place, parks, and outside the Kazekage tower. Itachi find the red light district and look for a bar. Idiots here love sake and can never get enough. They end up drinking more than they can and will spill their guts fast."
"Got it. Ready?" Itachi asked
"Ya. Wait here Deidara and no blowing stuff up."
"When you take the fun out of it."
Itachi and I headed off. I left my cloak in my bag as I wandered into the village with Itachi.
Sasori...
"So what's with the girl? Who is she?"
"You'll find out eventually. But you should ask her and Itachi that."
"Why does Itachi seem so protective of her? And you what's her story?"
"She's from the leaf like Itachi. She, Kisame and I spent time with her. She and I got along. We both pissed off Kisame in several ways. She is smart so I can see why Itachi wanted her on this mission."
"Ok, but still who is she?"
"Ask her. I'm not going to say who she is."
"I'm going for a walk coming?"
"Fine, seal up the cloak though. Or at least use a transformation jutsu."
"Fine." 'Time to ask her myself since I can't wait.'
They're headed into the village unnoticed by anyone.
Itachi...
I headed into the nearest bar and ordered a shot of sake. I listened to a couple of drunks in a nearby corner of the room.
"I'm telling you, lord Kazekage has been acting strange."
"Whadda meean? He only made one mistake, not killing lord Gaara."
"I know what you mean. He's a freak. But I mean lord Kazekage has been secretive lately."
"Oh?"
"He's been sending messages to some new village that popped up."
"Oh the one that's rumored to be started by Orochimaru?"
"Ya."
Hearing what I needed I left.
Melia...
I found myself at a park and decided to swing while. I saw some parents with their kids and I could hear them talking.
"Did you hear about the treaty lord Kazekage was making with the leader of the new village?"
"You mean the hidden sound? Yes that would be one less village to worry about. Though they're still new so I don't understand why we even communicate with them."
"The leader of hidden sound is supposed to be a sannin. The snake sannin from what I understand."
"But isn't he a missing nin from our ally the Leaf?"
"Not for long. We're going to break ties with them. Orochimaru is strong, he can take on quite a few opponents at once. He'd make a better ally then the Leaf."
"Is it true we're going to attack them at the chunin exams?"
"Hai, from what I've heard the Kazekage has been planning with Orochimaru. The Kazekage believes the Leaf has grown too weak over the last few years and couldn't help us if we were attacked."
Hearing a confirmation and extra details I left quietly before anyone noticed me.
I was heading to find Itachi when I ran into a couple kids running from someone.
"Run it's Gaara! He's a deamon!"
What were they talking about. Deamon...? What deamon. I saw a boy about Narutos age, he was walking slowly and seemed different from most people. His eyes, they held anger, sadness, blood lust, and loneliness. He's like Naruto maybe I can help him. I saw him look at me and I smiled.
"I suggest you run."
"You won't hurt me. I trust you."
He looked at me like I was either very brave or incredibly stupid.
"How you don't even know me."
"But I know someone like you. You're alone aren't you. Like me and my friend."
"I have no need for friends."
"But you don't deny your alone. Think about it. I've got to go. Later." I quickly got out of there and hung around the market. Of course they though no one else could hear them. I got a confirmation that the Kazekage had been talking to Orochimaru and left.
I just left the market. I won't let my dreams come true. I'll change things. I was walking where I was supposed to meet Itachi in 15 minutes when I was grabbed from behind and pulled into a side alley way. Recognizing the chakra signature I didn't scream when the hand let me go.
I came face to face with Sasori-san.
"What makes you so special? Who are you?"
"If that's all you wanted to know you could have waited until this mission is over. My name is Melia."
"Why are you so special to Itachi? He won't let me turn you into a puppet but no one's here to stop me."
He grabbed me and I kicked him where it hurts only to find his body was rock hard. He tightened his grip on my arms only to be kicked in the head by a incoming blonde.
"I don't think Itachi will appreciate that. He'll be pissed when he finds out."
"Deidara!" I was glad he came
Deidara...
Sasori-san was up to something and if he hurt Melia-san then Itachi-san would kill us both! When i saw him and Melia-san I went to stop it.
"You didn't think I'd let a princess be rough handled by him did you?"
"Never. I'm glad to see you haven't destroyed everything from boredom."
"Itachi would be mad, he'll be pissed when I tell him what Sasori tried to do."
"What exactly did he try to do Deidara?"
"Oh hey Itachi." I tried to play it cool
"Deidara what did Sasori do?" Itachi asked calmly, too calmly
"Who is she to you Itachi? What are you getting soft?" Sasori asked before Itachi was answered
"She's his sister. Oh and he tried to turn Melia into a puppet."
Melia's POV...
"The last person who called me soft was Kisame and he learned his lesson. Like you will in 3, 2, 1..."
Itachi counted down as I headed towards Sasori. In an instant I jumped on him and started to punch him. Pulling out a kunai I dug it into his arm.
"Don't you think that was a little too far Melia?"
"No I don't Itachi-nii. Anyone who picks on my brother deserves any and all punishment."
"Damn." Deidara whistled
"You little..." he didn't finish as Deidara was on him in a second, so fast.
"Deidara what do you think your doing?" Sasori asked holding his rips.
"Saving your ass." he pointed towards Itachi. I looked as well out of curiosity. Itachi's eyes bled red.
"I'm ok nii-san. Try to calm down." man he's normally the calm one, guess he does have a temper like father.
"I'm going to kill him."Itachi said through clenched teeth
"Please calm down nii-san."
Sasori started to sweat. "Like I said I just saved your ass. Now I'm gonna kick the crap out of you once we're out of the village, so I can blow your ass up. Along with Itachi."
"We should go Deidara. We could just leave Sasori, if I tell Konan-sama she won't mind. Though since you wanna blow him up, we can't let you blow up stuff on the way. Wait till we get back." really Itachi? You're such a good brother.
"Fine." we disappeared in a swirl of leaves.
outside Hidden Sand...
"Sasori, I'm going to give you a good reason why you shouldn't make Melia into a puppet." Deidara said with an evil smirk
Deidara then proceded to beat Sasori-san up useing his explosives. With Itachi joining in here and there where it wouldn't be expected. Deidara finally got tired of beating up Sasori and created a bird to fly us back.
"Nii-san I found out some interesting information. It's confirmed that Orochimaru is the leader of the new village."
"Ya I heard that lord Kazekage has been talking to him lately."
"That's very interesting."
A few hours later...
Itachi's POV...
"Konan-sama. Our mission was a success."
"Report Itachi-san."
"Hai. Melia and I were able to learn that lord Kazekage has been in touch with Orochimaru and we have confirmation that Orochimaru is the leader of the new village."
"Very interesting. I'll tell Pein. Go rest up."
"Arigato." I grabbed Melias hand and took her to my room.
"What's wrong Nii-san?"
"Nothing. I just want to be with my sister. Let's go to bed."
"Ok. I love you too."
Next day...
Naruto's POV...
We had a blast yesterday setting up traps. Kakashi-sensei was impressed with some of the designs.
"Now if only you were this good at studying. Oh well no one is good at everything. Now let's work on the bridge."
We spent the day working on it and more people showed up today then two days ago. If all goes well we'll be done by noon tomorrow. And then we'll head home. I wonder what Melia is doing?
Sasuke's POV...
I wonder what Melia is doing? I should see if she's around here.
"Sensei I'll be back in a bit."
"Where to Sasuke? We still have to help with the bridge."
"I'm just going for a walk. I'll be back in 10 minutes. My muscles hurt and I'm thirsty." I started to leave and he opened his mouth to speak. I quickly fired with something I've held onto incase I had to get away.
"You're not working Sensei. And Hinata can't see you, I thought you'd be reading your book." he'd stay here if he was reading his precious book. Naruto and I normally don't let him take that smut out when Hinata is within 20 feet, but she can't see him or the book. And he's not working anyway so if he's reading at least he'll leave me alone.
I left for the woods and started to focus on finding Melia.
"What if someone took her. Or if she fell into one of the traps?" a voice went on
"Great your back."
"Yep."
"Shut up and go away. I've already made up my mind."
If I found Melia I'd cook for her, I'd tuck her in and sing the lullaby. I'd be there every time there was thunder and Lightning out. I'd clean the house for her, hold her and not let go. I'd make her laugh for once instead of cry. Lately I only make her cry.
"It's about time you went to find her."
"Shut up."
"What if she hates you? What if she's in trouble?"
I started to ponder what the voice was saying. I decided if Melia needs me I'll be there for her. If she's in trouble I better run fast.
"Melia, Melia. Are you ok. I'm sorry I'm a bad brother. I need to know that your not in trouble."
"I'm fine Sasuke. You don't have to worry about me. You can do as you want. I have to go, I'm training."
I let her go. It hurt she didn't call me Sasuke-nii but she's probably mad at me.
Itachi and Melia...
I woke up in my brothers arms. I don't wanna get up, the bed is so comfy. I decided to wait till he gor up for me to get up. I wonder what we'll do today?
It was a half hour before he woke up. "Morning Itachi."
"Morning my little Melia. Want food?"
"Ya. You?"
"To the kitchen!"
He's acting like how he used to. He used to act this silly in the mornings all the time.
"So what are your plans for today?"
"Well I wanna teach Sasori-san to not try to turn me into a puppet tomorrow. Wanna help?"
"When was the last time you and I pulled a well deserved prank?"
"Too long. We're too cruel when we team up for a prank."
"The last prank you helped with that I know of was the accademy water bombing."
"We got the whole school. That was fun, even lord Hokage showed up."
"It was a good fight. Shisui enjoyed it."
"He was the one who was the most soaked."
"I told him to watch his aim and that you couldn't aim when having fun."
"Hey!" I lightly slapped him on his arm "My aim got better. Now I can have loads of fun. Wanna play a song?"
"Sure I'd like that. Say the week is almost up. I'll have to take you back day after tomorrow you know that right?"
"Party pooper."
"Gomen. Here's a ham and cheese omlate with basil."
"You're the best nii-san ever!" "I wouldn't say that." "You try your best, you're there for me, you accept me. You protect me but trust me to do what I have to." "Well, you're my sister. Like I told Sasuke. Even if it's as an obstacle you need to overcome. Even if you end up hating me in the end I'll always be there for you. That's what big brothers are for." "I will never hate you nii-san. I love you." "Let's go. Konan-sama would you like to join us?"
"Of course I would." I turned and saw Konan-san with her hair down.
"Your hair looks so pretty Konan-san."
"Arigato Melia-chan. Mind if someone else joins us?"
"Who did you have in mind?" Itachi asked
"Pein-kun. Not today of course but another time." I watched as Itachi reluctantly nodded his head. I went to get my song book. Then we headed out.
"Melia?" "Yes Konan-san?"
"Don't worry about getting in trouble with Sasori, I'll take care of that."
"Thanks Konan-san. Hey Konan-san? Why are you always so nice to me?"
"You remind me of how I was at your age. I was so close to Yahiko and Nagato. I'm still close to Nagato, even closer since Yahiko died. I can tell you'll be stronger than any Akatsuki member one day. You weren't scared of Kisame either. Why?"
"I don't like to judge others before I know them completely. I know someone who is hated and picked on just because of who he is. It's not fair. It's cruel."
"When I was growing up during the last war any orphan was left to be hungery because others who had plenty of food to a hungry childs eyes, they didn't want to be short even a small loaf of bread or ounce of water."
"That's outright selfishness. I understand their reasons, doesn't mean I'll agree with them. They surely could have shared at least a little."
"You understand, how? You didn't grow up during those times. How could you understand?"
"During a war food and supplies get scarce because they're used faster than they can be made. But everyone could have shared even a little."
"Itachi are you positive she's not older than you?"
"I was there shortly after she was born. She's just mature."
We arrived at the store and Itachi and I started to mess around with instruments. We messed around with a guitar, piano and drums. We eventually came up with a beat to a song I wrote a while ago. This was one about my life, our life.

We finally played the song we used to before Itachi or Shisui went on a mission or got back from one.
"It's gonna get harder from here. We've gotta get smarter. To make it out alive..." (An: this song is the worlds calling by there for tomorrow.)
We had fun, Konan-san trained with me and we went to the girls only training place. Itachi pouted at having to leave my side to which I kissed his cheek.
"So I hear it's your birthday soon." Konan-san asked as we were swimming.
"Ya. I'll be 12."
"So you're still 11?"
"Hai. I'm 5 years younger than Itachi. He was born June 9th."
"Itachi never mentioned it."
"I'm gonna throw him a party next year. See if I can't get him to loosen up before then. You know?"
"He's already loose."
"He's still not the same. I don't expect him to be after everything. I don't hate him either. He's my brother and I'll always love him with all my heart."
"That's sweet."
"We should get out."
"Ya otherwise we'll shrivel up from the water. I still can't figure out how you got that kunai stuck."
"Chakra. I watched Anbu and Jonnin do it all the time. After seeing it 50 times and remembering it I practiced it."
We got out and showered off. This was just like the last time. Itachi had to send me home tomorrow. I know I have to be there for Naruto. But this isn't fair I miss how it used to be. No that's selfishness. Otou-san was going to kill everyone including Naruto. He didn't notice Sasukes potential. He wanted to start a war.
I exited the shower and changed back into my black high collared shirt and dark blue shorts. Konan-san and I had a quick spar before we left.
"That was fun. Anything I can work on?"
"I enjoy our girl time too. Your fighting style is fine. You just have to work on how you align your strikes."
"I'll work on it."
"How long have you and Itachi played the piano and other instruments?"
"Since I was little. We've played for as long as I can remember. Okaa-san and Otou-san would sometimes play. Someone would play and I'd dance with my nii-san, Okaa-san, or Otou-san. The song we played yesterday, the lullaby, we wrote that after that one time of someone breaking into our house when I was 4. I always had a hard time sleeping after that, so my brothers wrote a song for me."
"Oh? It's starting to get easier to believe things like this. Before I would have thought of Itachi of nothing more than a emotionless criminal."
'But he's not a criminal. It was a mission. He was protecting me and Sasuke.'
"What do you think of those who break a promise?"
"They're trash. Why did someone break a promise to you?"
"No. I was wondering if you could promise me something."
"What is it?"
"Promise that you'll keep Itachi of of trouble when he's not on missions."
"I promise you. Let's get back."
"Ok. Itachi and I can cook lunch."
"Itachi can cook?"
"Can't most members of Akatsuki?"
"No. Deidara ends up burning everything, no one's seen Sasori eat. Kisame eats at restaurants, namly sushi." she paused to think
"Kakuzu I don't think anyone's seen him eat either, he along with Hidan are rarely here. Kakuzu and Hidan rarely return because they're always off bounty hunting." she explained
"Zetsu doesn't eat. Nagato can barely cook. I can make a few dishes but they don't usually come out well."
"Well Itachi won't be happy but we'll cook lunch as long as you can keep everyone there."
"I can do that. Maybe you can teach some of them how to cook."
"Sure. And by the way Deidara can cook as long as Kisame is watching him so he doesn't start a fire."
"How'd you manage that?"
"It was his second attempt at cooking a fish. I knew what he was doing and I told Deidara "I know you can cook. If you burn something then everyone will know we're here. I'm going to teach you how to not burn everything."
Then I turned to Kisame and said "Kisame your in charge of making sure the idiot doesn't send up a smoke signal that will be seen in Suna when I'm asleep in the morning for breakfast. If he does I'll let him cook you then I'll blow off Deidaras arms.""
"He wasn't happy about that was he?"
"No, the walking fish made it clear he wasn't happy by threatening me. I responded by threatening him with Itachi."
"But Deidara stopped burning everything?"
"Yep. Amazing what a few threats and holding on to his clay can do."
"You got a hold of his detonation clay!"
"Ya. I got the sake breathing fish to pour some sake into his glass when he wasn't looking."
"You're amazing."
"Ya. But Deidara still has alot to go."
"Ready?"
"Hai. Shall we go?"
"We shall Melia-san."
Akatsuki base...
"Nii-san!"
"Welcome back Melia, Konan-sama."
"I told Konan-san we would cook lunch for everyone."
"Oh. What would you like for lunch Konan-sama?"
"Anything is fine Itachi-san."
"Very well, do you think you can take Melia to find out what the others want I'll start getting things ready."
Sasuke's POV...
We're leaving in two days. First thing I'll do is go to the cabin and clean up for Melia. I'll cook her a nice meal, providing I remember how to cook. I'll train with her and spend the night there with her in my room. I can't wait.
'Hey Melia. Is everything still ok?'
'Hai, I'm fine. I'm camping out over in another country. I'll head back tomorrow.'
'Be careful.'
'I will.'
Finally I can be a good big brother.
Naruto's POV...
I talked to Hinata today. We talked about different training excersizes we could do. When to meet for ramen. Sasuke said for lunch and we all agreed.
He seemed anxious to get back. I wonder what he's planning? Could he be planning to see Melia again? He better not hurt her that jerk. He leaves her alone for all those months and then he thinks he can just fix everything. Man he's full of him self.
'I won't let Melia near him.'
'Please Naruto? At least give him one chance to fix everything.'
'Fine. I can't say no when you use that voice.'
'I know that's why I use it. Arigato Naruto.'
'Just come over my place from time to time.'
'You know I will.'
'And come over if he hurts you again, I'll protect you believe it!'
'I promise. Bye Naruto.'
'Bye Melia.' She's way to nice to him. But I know why. He's her only family that's not a traitor.
"Na-Naruto-kun. We have to work on the bridge."
"Sorry Hinata. Kage bunshin no jutsu." my clones got to work on the bridge. We better get paid extra for this.
Itachi's POV...
Melia came back with Deidara and Kisame. We decided to make chicken teriyaki, rice, and some sushi. Leader-sama came down as we were preparing to cook. Melia started to cook the chicken, I started to cook the rice.
We switched places so Melia was mixing the rice so it would cook evenly, and I seasoned the meat. Melia started to tell Deidara and Kisame what we were doing and how to do it. She dragged Deidara over to show him as we flipped the meat to the other side.
I prepared the sauce and she got the sushi ready. Finally Melia, Deidara, and Kisame to get Sasori, because I don't trust Sasori with my sister alone and I know they'll protect her. Melia came to the table with Sasori alright, but well... She was dragging him by the ear.
Melia...
"Sasori-san time for dinner."
"Go the hell away."
"I just thought you'd like to know it was dinner time, so come down and eat."
"Did you make it?"
"Hai, Itachi helped."
"No way in hell will I eat your crap. You probably posioned it."
"Deidara-san if you wouldn't mind?"
"Sure un. I told him to behave un."
Deidara blew up the door "Sasori-san will you please join us for dinner. It's chicken teriyaki, rice and sushi."
"No way. Get out and leave me alone you brat. You and your body guards."
"They're not my body guards. They're friends, and your comrades. It's not my fault my brother is over protective of me."
"Your just a spoiled little brat. I bet he pampers you and you never have to lift a finger. Itachi is a prodigy, he was born that way, everything just comes naturally to him. He's a bastard and your a spoiled little brat. Anything either of you wanted you got with no problems. You get to live carefree because of him."
"Shut up. All your doing is pissing me off. Don't call him a prodigy that tittle is a curse. Itachi never had it easy. Otou-san always pushed him to his breaking point. You don't know us so shut up!"
I grabbed his ear and dragged him to the table. I had Kisame drain most of his chakra and he did if only because his sword was hungry. I sat him down ate a small portion of food and left quickly. Sasori-san really pushed my buttons. I found myself on the roof and jumped off to go find a park.
I found a swing and just stayed on it pushing myself higher till I got tired and rested in a tree, where I fell asleep thinking of my past.
Itachi...
"Sasori-san what did you say to my Imoto?" I asked shortly after she left. "She only eats a small amount of food when she's upset or she's somewhere else. What did you do?"
"Shut up. You spoiled little brat."
"Kisame-san?"
"He just ranted how your a prodigy and how you and Melia had it easy."
"That'll do it anytime. My father never noticed Melia's abilities, the one thing she wanted in the world from otou-san was to be recognized for her abilities. She trained from a young age till her limbs ached so much it almost killed her to move. My father also pushed me to my limits everyday." I got up and called my summons to track down my imoto. One returned faster then the others and informed me where she
