CHAPTER 14

CAN'T BELIEVE I PASSED 200! XD SO HAPPY!

[A/N: Hey guys! Some stuff came up so I couldn't update as fast as I had originally hoped, I apologize for that. I will try to have to next update out either on or before my birthday (which is the 12th of December, I will be 20, oh god).]

"…Eh?" said Lucy with a blank expression.

"Eh?" said Natsu with a shocked expression

"Eeeeeh?!" yelled Levy and Juvia, also in shock.

Lucy didn't know what to think, she was in shock because of Natsu's random request, she had never given her email to a guy before… well besides Loke but he's not important right now.

She suddenly became very shy and felt her hands become sweaty from nervousness.

Well, she was kinda… happy that he wanted to stay in contact with her, and for some reason her heart was beating a little faster than normal… but she was also too shy to do anything other than gape at the guy.

How was she supposed to respond with all these eyes on her, especially Levy and Juvia, they'd kill her before she gave her email to Natsu.

Natsu's expression was still a shocked one. Why? You may wonder? Well, he only asked for her email on pure impulse; having no conscious awareness of what he was doing until he had already done it. So you can imagine his surprise when he found himself in front of her and seeing her shocked expression… well at least it wasn't horror or disgust but still!

'What in the name of all that is good and flammable did I just do!? I couldn't stop the words from coming outta my mouth! I can't tell what she's thinking! Is she grossed out!? I mean I know I just sprung that up out of nowhere and all but… gaaaah! Somebody hide me in the deepest hole you can find!' he thought while sweating nervously.

Levy and Juvia's faces paled, the very idea that this delinquent would try and talk to their sweet innocent Lucy was like a crime against the heavens, hell, against nature! Surely he would try and corrupt her, make her do things so horrible that it would turn her into a different person! NO, they would not stand for that… not at all…

"Salamander has the hots for Bunny-girl? Huh, I guess he does have a pair, gihi…" said Gajeel in surprise. Sure he wasn't expecting Natsu to suddenly take interest in such a bodacious chick, but he didn't really care as much as everyone else did.

"Bunny-girl?" asked Levy with a suspicious look on her face, what made Gajeel think that Lucy was a bunny?

"Don't gimme that look, I call em as I see em" he defended while waving his hand in a nonchalant motion.

"Uhuh…" she said with a skeptic look on her face.

Gajeel just grumbled at her.

Lucy sucked in a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves before she spoke "U-um…"

Natsu held his breath waiting for her reply as if his life depended on it, Juvia and Levy were in their warrior stance; ready to grab Lucy and dash away before she gave him any information about herself.

"I…I-"

"Ok girls times up, back to the mini-van!" yelled Kagura

"Eh?" said Lucy, had she really taken that long to reply?!

Levy and Juvia heaved a sigh of relief; at least Lucy hadn't said anything to him. They were sending a prayer of thanks to Kagura for being so punctual.

Natsu's face went white… how… how bad could that chicks timing have been!? At this point it didn't even matter if she had said no; at least he would have gotten a reply! This was like some cruel punishment…

Wait… was he being punished!? Was this because of all the fights he ever got into until now!? Oh Kami-sama, you can be so cruel! [A/N: Pft, Natsu is such a drama-queen]

"Well you heard the lady time to go Lu-chan!" said Levy with a smile on her face, gesturing for Lucy to walk with them to the car.

"Hai, lets go back Lucy-san" said Juvia with a relieved smile.

Lucy's eye twitched but it went unnoticed by her two friends. She couldn't understand why they were being like this, they made it seem like she was deciding whether or not to give her kidney to some criminal or something!

"O-Ok, I'm coming…" she said in a defeated tone.

Natsu's face fell, he didn't know why her friends didn't like him so much, its not like he ever did anything to them right? And now he lost his chance of ever getting closer to Lucy…

Too bad he wasn't looking at her right then, because she had her back turned and looked like she was busy doing something with her hands at the moment.

She turned suddenly and made her way towards her friends, walking past Natsu as she did.

They made eye-contact for a second as she passed by him; Natsu's eyes widened as he felt something small being placed secretly in his hand; it felt like… paper?

Natsu opened his palm to take a look… yep it was paper alright, but what was on it?

As he opened it up what he saw made his eyes widen and a pink hue formed on his cheeks.

It… it was her email address...?

Lucy dashed towards her friends, her face bright red. As she caught up to them and continued forward, she paused for a second and looked back.

And to her surprise she caught Natsu staring at her with an awestruck expression, and his face was slightly red, just like hers. The second they made eye-contact they turned away and blushed even deeper.

Lucy walked forward again only to managing to move a few feet until she gave into her urge to look back again… only to catch him doing the same.

It was almost as if they were on the same wavelength.

"Lu-chan hurry, Kagura's gonna kill us if we make her wait!" yelled Levy as she grabbed Lucy by her arm and began running to the car.

"Uh r-right" said Lucy embarrassingly.

And then she was gone…

Natsu stared at the piece of paper left in his hand, a large grin formed on his lips. He was so happy! And this was only her email, imagine his reaction if he ever got her phone number!

"Hooh~ Salamander scored huh? You're more of a man than I gave you credit for" said Gajeel in an impressed tone as he snuck up behind Natsu to peek over his shoulder.

Natsu jumped from the fright Gajeel gave him, moving a safe distance away from him.

'Crap! Gajeel saw the whole thing! He'll never let me hear the end of it… still, I guess it's better than the stripper hearing' he thought.

"So that's the 'Lucy' you were daydreaming about huh? She seems like a sweet girl" said Erza in an approving tone, also managing to sneak up on Natsu and make him jump.

'W-Why is everyone ganging up on me all of a sudden!? It can't be that weird to see me interested in a girl… can it?' he thought, feeling annoyed at their behavior.

"Sh-shut up, it's none of your business anyway!" yelled Natsu in embarrassment, keeping Lucy's email away from their prying eyes.

"But don't you think she's too hot for him Titania? Unless she's into losers or something?" asked Gajeel, completely ignoring Natsu.

"Oi-!"

"Hmmm, well Natsu had his good points; maybe she's overlooking his flaws? If so she must be incredibly innocent" said Erza, holding her chin in thought.

"Hey now-"

"Innocent huh? So that's Salamanders type? Not that I don't find it interesting myself…" said Gajeel in approval.

"Just what the hell's that-"

"Uhuh~ I saw you with the little blue-haired girl, never thought you'd go for a girl smarter than yourself" said Erza with a teasing smirk.

"…"

"Sh-shut up, as if I'd go for a girl who looks like she's in middle-school! And don't get me started on you Titania" said Gajeel with a blushing scowl.

Erza's face went from teasing to demonic instantly, a black/purple aura surrounded her terrifying figure.

"Just try it… I dare you…" she said in a demonic tone, causing both Gajeel and Natsu to shiver from fear.

"I'm sorry, I'll shut up now" said Gajeel fearfully.

"Good, now back to Natsu-"

"Knock it off already!"

Makarov watched Natsu and the others with a pleased smile; he was always happy whenever his students where happy.

"Tch, noisy bunch of kids"

And then Laxus has to bring his mood down… again.

"Oh please, don't give me that 'I'm much better than them' attitude, if memory serves you were almost exactly like them when you were their age" said Makarov with a raised brow.

"Hah! Yeah right, at least I had a lot more experience with the ladies than those two pink-haired virgins" said Laxus with a smug smirk.

Makarov nodded his head, agreeing with his statement "You're right about that, but isn't that part of the reason for the mess you caused today?" he said with an accusing look.

Laxus cringed "Don't start this again Jii-Jii, you know very well why it's like this between me and Mira… it's for the best anyway" he said with a somber look on his face.

"I don't really know about that… you two are still young, it'd be best if you could work out your problems while you still can" said Makarov, making his way back to his office.

"… I'm not sure if I can Jii-Jii" said Laxus in a sad tone.

Makarov paused to glance back at Laxus, and then continued forward "Well, you'll never know unless you try right? A parent always wishes for their children to get along" he said.

Laxus watched his grandpa's back as he left and let out a heavy sigh of exasperation.

"I know if I try I might get a few bones broken at least" he muttered.

"Hey do you guys hear that?" asked Kinana.

Everyone was silent as the sound that Kinana heard got louder gradually.

"Yeah, it sounds like some kind of stampede… and I think I hear something else?" said Bisca as she cupped her hand around her ear.

"Caaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

Suddenly something crashed right through the walls of the archery dojo all tumbled to the floor.

…

"Gildarts-sensei!?" yelled everyone in surprise.

"Ah crap!" yelled Cana as she tried to scramble toward the nearest exit.

Gildarts had fallen flat on his face, managing to make a hole in the floor with it… actually that might have been the hole that Natsu was meant to cover up..? The dojo was so damaged after the fight you can't even tell anymore!

Gildarts lifted his head from the hole and scanned his surroundings.

"Cana! Where is my dear sweet Cana!?" he yelled while scanning for her body.

Once he spotted her he shot up off the floor and tried to jump-hug her.

"Cana!" he yelled, getting closer to her.

Cana shivered, and on reflex she punched him in the face, sending him crashing to the ground again.

"Get away from me you creepy old geezer!" she yelled, completely creeped out by his 'affection'.

"So mean~, Cana, how can you treat your concerned papa with such cruelty?" he whined, holding his cheek where she had punched him, comical tears were running down his face.

"Coz you always act like such a clingy creep I do it as a reflex action! Why are you here anyway? I thought you'd be on your way home by now!" she yelled, fully embarrassed by her father's childish behavior.

"I was, but then I got this text about a fight breaking out and became concerned for your safety. So naturally I ran back here as fast as I could!" he yelled, finally picking himself up off the floor.

"I wonder how many buildings and cars he ran through on his way here" whispered Laki.

"Right?" Bisca agreed.

"Why is it that every time I see Cana and Gildarts interact with each other, I feel like I'm watching some bad sitcom?" Gajeel complained.

"For crying out loud, put me down ya old fart!"

"No, my baby is too precious to be walking after having just been in a fight! We're going home right now"

"Wha-! You're not seriously gonna carry me like this the whole way there are you!?"

"Would you prefer me to carry you piggy-back like when you were in elementary school?"

"No! Let me down!"

"Aw come on, you used to love those!"

"Somebody help me~"

Natsu and Erza nodded in agreement with Gajeel's statement.

"A really bad sitcom" they said.

Meanwhile, with the girls from Mermaid Heel…

The girls were already in the mini-van and on their way back to the Academy. The car ride was silent, save for the radio which was just a news report, and a few small sniffles from Mira-sensei; guess she still hasn't calmed down just yet. The tension in the air was practically palpable as they all waited for an explanation from an ever silent Kagura.

She appeared to be struggling internally with how she planned to explain things to her fellow students, she had yet to even discuss the issue and conditions with Mira-sensei… she knew this was not going to end peacefully.

"… After a long… heated discussion with Madam Porlyusica, the following decision has been made…" she began, earning the undivided attention of all the girls.

She took a deep breath in preparation of the upcoming assault.

"Everyone who is present here, including and especially the teacher involved, have to attend the Friday counseling activity that Headmaster Makarov has suggested. No exceptions"

The protests were flung at her like rockets, all loud and unhappy, complaining about the unfairness, wondering what Porlyusica was thinking, all in all, everything she had anticipated to happen did… except for the fact that Mira-sensei was silent…it was a little unnerving.

"Why did Madam Porlyusica agree to such a strange thing!?"

"It's totally not like her to agree with anything!"

"And on a Friday of all days!? I have a social life for crying out loud!"

"There's no way our parents will agree with such a thing!"

"And what about those three!? They aren't even members of the club, does this apply to them as well!?"

"Why especially Mira-sensei!?"

"Silence!" yelled Kagura angrily, effectively shutting all of them up at once.

"…"

"Now, let's discuss this in a respectable manner. The sooner we all come to terms with this arrangement the easier it will be to adjust" she said, needing a moment to calm her own nerves as well.

The girls all shared worried looks with each other, waiting for Kagura to answer their questions.

"Right, well, from my earlier conversation with Madam Porlyusica, it seems like she agrees with Makarov's opinion about us creating a better relationship with each other as schools. Should this incident reach public knowledge it would reflect very badly upon us and our school, this was also done as a way to deter that." She said, letting the information slowly sink in.

"With regards to parents, she has stated that she will take full responsibility for us and will notify them of the circumstances. And as for the three who are not members of the club…"

All eyes were now fixed on Levy, Juvia and Lucy, making them nervous.

"Unfortunately, since you were present during this incident you are also required to attend without exception. Sumimasen, it seems I have unintentionally caused you all a great deal of trouble, I never intended for things to get so out of hand" she said with a sad look.

"Ah, don't worry Kaichou! None of us blame you at all!" said Lucy reassuringly.

"Yeah, I kind of contributed to the fight anyway, so I don't think I have the right to refuse" said Levy sheepishly.

"Juvia doesn't mind at all~" she said with a happy expression… which was confusing.

Kagura smiled softly at them "Gomenasai, arigato for your understanding" she said.

"Is that also why Mira-sensei has to come as well?" Milliana asked curiously.

All the girls became silent again as they waited for Kagura to continue her explanation, she felt it was necessary to choose her word carefully as they could implicate Mira-sensei badly.

"…More or less. It's not really any of our business to pry into the lives of our sensei's-"

"Kagura-chan, its ok, you don't have to defend me" said Mira with a sad smile.

"Minna, normally with the kind of behavior that I showed today, I would have been suspended from teaching. This is most likely a compromise that the Headmaster's came up with for my sake" said Mira sadly.

"Demo, doesn't that mean that you'll have to see that blonde sensei again!?"

"He must have done something awful for you to want to beat him up so badly!"

"Awful huh? Well, it's certainly something I can't forgive him for… but then again I have been known to act out my feelings a little too violently… in the end, I wonder which one of us is more awful?" she said with a nervous giggle, confusing the girls completely.

"Mira-sensei, you're a good person, there's no way any of us could think of you as awful" said Lucy with a determined look on her face.

All the girls agreed and nodded their heads.

Mira smiled genuinely "Arigato, minna".

The ride had become silent again, only hushed whispers were heard between the girls about the situation.

Levy was fuming in her seat in the back of the van; you could almost see the steam coming out of her ears. Lucy and Juvia were sitting on either side of her, each in their own little worlds, wondering how things were going to be like from now on.

"This whole idea is complete and utter nonsense, why should I have to waste my time and associate with those ruffians. If I ever see that studded moron again I'll… I'll… render him infertile!" Levy complained, her arms crossed against her chest in a huff.

Lucy sighed in exhaustion "You know Levy-chan's in a bad mood when she starts talking in large words" she stated.

"Hai, Gajeel must have really gotten under her skin, Juvia has never seen this kind of animosity from Levy-san before" said Juvia worriedly.

"He kept on calling me a shrimp! That would annoy anyone!" yelled Levy, her face getting red from anger.

Lucy giggled slightly "You ever notice that Levy-chan is acting like a certain someone from a show we used to watch?" she asked Juvia with a smile.

Juvia looked at Lucy curiously then looked up in thought for a minute. Her eyes widened when she finally realized who Lucy was referring to.

"Oh yeah! Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist!" she said with a small laugh.

"Wha-! I am not!" Levy protested.

"Oh please, if anything Edward Elric is a milder version of you!" said Lucy with a laugh.

Levy puffed out her cheeks in annoyance; she couldn't have been that bad right? [-_-]

"Whatever, more importantly; we have to make sure that you stay away from that Salamander guy Lu-chan, he's all kinds of trouble, it would be best if you never saw him again" she said with a serious tone.

Lucy's eyes went wide; Levy had never acted this way before, she was acting like some overprotective parent! She already had a dad who played that role just fine, she didn't need this crap from her friends!

"What the hell Levy, you're starting to sound like my father? I can't believe your saying this to me" she said in a surprised tone.

"Lu-chan I just don't want to see you get hurt. I've heard so many bad things about that guy, and you saw how he was fighting that shirtless guy! He's clearly bad news!" said Levy defensively.

Juvia sighed dreamily at the mention of the 'shirtless guy'.

"No offense Levy-chan, but I think I can determine for myself if a person is good or bad. And come on! You're judging him on just rumors!? Don't we, of all people, know how it feels to be wrongly judged like that?" argued Lucy, she was getting a little annoyed with Levy's attitude.

Levy opened her mouth to argue back but nothing came out, she couldn't argue with Lucy on that point. She looked down at her feet in defeat.

"I'm sorry; I guess I got a little carried away. I'm just worried about you Lu-chan, and I want to make sure you're going to be okay. I can't stand the thought of someone hurting you and me not being able to do anything to stop it" she said with a sad expression.

Lucy's face softened at her friend's words, Levy was too sweet sometimes. She pulled Levy in for a hug.

"Thank you, for caring Levy, but sometimes I have to make decisions on my own okay? And you don't have to worry about Natsu, I don't know why, but I can tell that he'd never do anything to hurt me" said Lucy with a reassuring smile as she pulled out of the hug.

"Lu-chan…"

"Juvia also thinks we should maybe give him a chance" she said suddenly.

"Juvia~" said Lucy with a grateful gleam in her eyes.

"Where is this coming from all of a sudden Juvia?" asked Levy curiously.

"Well… Juvia just thinks that if he's friends with Gray-sama he can't be that bad" she said with a grin and dreamy eyes.

Lucy and Levy sweat-dropped at her answer.

"Who the heck is 'Gray-sama'" Levy asked Lucy in a whisper.

"I think it was that shirtless guy, you know the one with the scary sister and the compulsive stripping" whispered Lucy.

'And as long as Lucy has the Salamander she won't be able to flirt with Gray! Of course if the Salamander is a bad guy Juvia will deal with him personally, but Juvia will cross that river one she gets to it' she thought with a sneaky smirk.

"Oh, really? Didn't think he was Juvia's type" said Levy in surprise.

"I dunno about that, you know she likes the dark-prince type after all, and he seems to fit the bill" said Lucy.

"Oh I see…" said Levy.

"You two aren't planning on taking Gray-sama away from Juvia are you?!" she asked with a scary glare causing the girls to flinch.

"No no no no no!" they yelled simultaneously.

"Good" she said with a cheerful smile.

Oh boy, Gray has no idea what he's got in store for him.

Once the Mermaid Heel girls were gone, the students of Fairy Tail were in a state of confusion. Nothing was really explained to them about the whole 'Inter-school Counseling' idea of Makarov's, not in the mood for explanations, he just told the students that he would explain everything to them the next day, but the students that were present at the dojo had to get their names written down in order to ensure that everyone who was there at the time got their 'punishment'.

Natsu made extra sure that Gray's name was included on the list.

And after an hour of what he called 'wasted explanations' and 'boring lectures' he finally returned home.

He lazily opened the door and made his way inside, hoping to go straight to his room and relax.

"Tadaima" he said lazily as he closed the door while slowly taking off his shoes.

"Okairi Natsu!" he heard his mother yelled from the kitchen, probably working on dinner at the moment.

"Okairi Natsu-nii" said Wendy; probably helping with dinner as well.

Suddenly he saw the shadow of a figure he knew all too well towering over him, glancing up he was not surprised to see his father standing in front of him with his arms crossed… but that creepy smirk on his face made him worried.

"What's with the creepy look old man?" asked Natsu cautiously.

That only made his dad's smirk go wider.

"So, son… how was school today? Anything interesting happen?" he asked leaning into his sons face and invading his space.

Natsu took a cautious step back, not liking the tone his dad was using when he asked that question.

"Uhm… fine I guess..? Nothing worth mentioning really…" he said as he regarded his father suspiciously.

There was the whole Lucy giving her email thing, but he would rather die than tell his dad ANYTHING about that. And the whole inter-school counselling thing wasn't gonna affect him much anyway so he didn't feel like that was worth mentioning either…

But why the hell was his father so damned curious about his school life all of a sudden?

Igneel kept his large grin and raised a brow at his son "Oh really? No news that I need to know about..? No… life-changing encounters?" he said, trying to hint at something.

Natsu couldn't stand it anymore "Would ya quit beating round the bush old man and just spit out what you're tryin' ta say!" he yelled angrily.

Igneel took a small step back, his grin still in place "Erza told me E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G" he said with emphasis.

Natsu paled. When he said 'everything', did he mean… EVERYTHING!?

"Huh? Wh-what do you mean everything..?" he asked nervously.

Igneel leaned closer to his son "Well, I wonder..? She may have mentioned something about a pretty blonde-haired girl you were chatting up this afternoon? Does that ring any bells?" his dad asked with fake curiosity as he stroked his stubbled chin.

Natsu actually felt his soul attempt to leave his body.

How… how could Erza do that!? Wasn't there some kind of bro-code that was against this!? She was hardly a girl anyway so it should apply to her right?! And how the hell did she tell his dad in the first place!? When the hell did they become so chummy!?

"Erza! That damned demon! The next time I see her I'll… I'll try to beat the ever loving crap outta her!" he yelled in a fit of demonic rage.

Igneel could no longer hold in his laughter and burst in a fit of chuckles, clutching his stomach as he tilted his head back.

"Oh Kami its true!" he yelled in joy.

"Shut up old man! That has nothing to do with you anyway! And why did Erza tell you that in the first place!?" yelled Natsu in embarrassment, his face heating up slightly.

Igneel tried to stifle his laughter, but was having a tough time trying.

"Oh son, I've had Erza keep tabs on you for a long time, your juvenile nature would have escalated if she hadn't been there to beat you back on track, so of course we keep in touch" he said as he wiped a tear away in the corner of his eye.

Natsu's mouth practically hit the floor… that basically made Erza his friggen parole officer or something! Has he been living a lie the whole time!?

"What!?" he yelled indignantly.

"Uhuh, but let's forget about that for now! I wanna hear more about this girl who apparently has managed to turn you into a man!" yelled Igneel joyously.

'He just conveniently changed the subject!' thought Natsu in annoyance.

"Forget that, I ain't telling you shit!" he yelled as he tried to bypass his father so that he could get to the stairs for his room, but his dad always stepped in the way.

"Oh yes you are! If this girl has managed to do what no other girl has done and turned your hormones on, I need to know so that you and I can finally have that talk that all the other dads gave to their sons!" yelled Igneel happily, comical tears running down his cheeks.

"Wha-!" choked Natsu; his dad was gonna give him 'the talk'!? He was 18 dammit, not a 10 year old boy!

"Now us Dragneel boys have been known to score only the HOTTEST chicks, so naturally you only bloomed when you saw a girl who is most likely out of your league-"

"Hey-!"

"-So it's important that I teach you all the basics of pleasing a wo-"

*THUNK*

Igneel fell to the floor face-first, revealing his angry wife who was holding a frying pan very threateningly in her hand. Her eye was also twitching a little.

"Darling…" groaned Igneel in pain "…what did you do that for?" he asked while clutching his now swollen head.

"Idiot, don't embarrass your son like that! If he's finally managed to like a pretty girl leave him to his own devices! Otherwise it'll be your fault if we don't have grandchildren some day!" she yelled angrily.

"Oh Kami, why is this happening to me?" Natsu asked nobody in particular, as he covered his face in shame.

"But Grandine!" Igneel protested.

"Don't you 'but' me! I thought we agreed not to mention anything until he came to us himself! Honestly you boys are too impatient for your own good!" she said in a huff.

"Don't lump me in with him!" yelled Natsu.

"Funny, I seem to recall you saying something quite different a few nights ago…" said Igneel with a sultry smirk causing Grandine to blush madly.

"Dad!" yelled Natsu in embarrassment, he suddenly felt very sick about his conversation.

"Idiot!" yelled Grandine as she started to chase Igneel around the house while trying to hit him with her frying pan.

Natsu thought that this was a good opportunity to make a run for it and booked it straight to his room like his life depended on it.

When he reached his room he slammed his door shut and made sure it was locked. He fell to the floor with his back against the door and began scratching his head vehemently.

"I will never be able to forget that! Stupid Dad, stupid Erza, butting into my private business!" he yelled angrily.

He let out a sigh of exhaustion, so much happened today he didn't need his family contributing to the drama… speaking of which…

He stuck his hand inside his pocket where he safely tucked away Lucy's email. Once he pulled it out he made sure to save it on his phones contact list, and keep it password protected so that nobody else would try to sneak a peek… he really couldn't trust anybody nowadays.

Sighing to himself he looked at her contact with a small smile on his face and a light blush on his cheeks.

Man was this girl making him soft or what? But strangely enough he didn't seem to mind much.

Suddenly his eyes widened and his face paled as a sudden thought occurred to him…
