AN: Sorry, for another long update. :'( But here's a long chapter. :)

Chapter 15

Danny didn't know when he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep, but he soon found himself reliving his past once again.

He was in a living room with the two friends he had seen before.

"She's...gone?" he asked.

"Yeah, Vlad took her." said Sam.

Danny was quick to leave the room. He already had his hand on the front door before they tried to stop him.

"Wait, Danny! Are you really going out there without a plan?" asked Sam.

"She's right, you can't go without a plan. What if it's a trap?" asked Tucker.

They were both clearly worried about him.

"He took my sister Tucker. I can't just sit back and wait until he does something to her."

He left before either of them could say another word. In hindsight maybe making a plan was the best thing he could have done.

By the time he made it to Vlad's mansion he felt very uneasy and unsure of himself. The mansion could be littered with traps and there could be guards in every direction, but this was for Jazz. He had to save her.

Without wasting another second he turned himself intangible and made his journey through the labyrinth-like mansion. He snuck past the human and ghost guards that seemed to be around every corner.

As soon as he thought that he had made it past all of the guards unnoticed, he began to search every room for his sister. He flew through what seemed like a hundred rooms before he found her. She was lying unconscious in a queen sized bed.

"Jazz!"

Danny shifted back into his physical form and rushed to her side.

"Are you...okay?"

Something was wrong. As soon as he touched her, his fingers phased right through her.

"A...hologram?"

Suddenly he heard a loud siren blaze throughout the room. Metallic glowing restraints emerged from the ground and snapped securely around his ankles.

"Great, there's no way this could possibly get any worse."

He already walked straight into Vlad's trap. The very thing he was trying to avoid doing since he entered this mansion. The situation couldn't get any worse than it already had right?

'Duck!'

His body acted immediately. He heard something move quickly above him. When it appeared to be safe he raised his head. A few feet past the bed he saw a glowing green net.

"Whew, that was close."

But how did he know to duck in time? Was the voice inside his head really his conscience? There was no way he could have seen the net in time to move. It had all happened in the span of a second.

Danny decided to let it go for now. His top priority at the moment was saving Jazz. He had to get out of these restraints first though. Phasing obviously wouldn't work if the eerie green glow was anything to go by. But he had to at least try to know for sure. He wasn't disappointed when his attempt failed.

'Now how would I get out of these restraints?'

Vlad had to have heard that blaring alarm earlier. He could be here any second, there was no time to lose. Danny tried prying open the metallic restraints trapping his ankles, but they just wouldn't budge. He couldn't give up now though, he had to rescue Jazz.

'But how-ow!'

Danny felt something hit the back of his neck. He rubbed the back of his neck to help ease away the pain.

"What…"

He glanced towards the floor and found the object that had hit him. It was a boomerang, a Fenton boomerang to be precise. But why would that be here?

"Danny!"

He knew that voice anywhere.

"Sam?" he asked surprised.

"Hey, I'm here too!" yelled Tucker.

They were both sitting in the specter speeder.

"What are you guys doing here?" asked Danny.

"We couldn't just sit back and watch you walk into a trap." reasoned Sam.

"Yeah man, what are friends for?" said Tucker with a smile.

"Thanks guys."

Danny couldn't hold back the smile that made it's way to his face.

"But I'm still kind of stuck here." said Danny while gesturing towards his restraints.

"Leave it to me." said Sam.

She grabbed a Fenton laser gun and aimed it at his ankles.

"Just hold still." she said and fired a few seconds later after lining up the shot.

"Did it work?"asked Tucker as he warily opened one of his eyes.

"Yeah, I'm free!" said Danny excitedly.

"Not for long."

A part of Danny didn't want to turn around after hearing that, but he knew he had to. He saw Vlad holding a pink ball of energy.

'Run!'

He flew towards the specter speeder.

"Go!" he yelled at Sam and Tucker.

They didn't need to be told twice. As Danny phased through the vehicle to join his friends, Sam steered it away from Vlad and flew it through the walls of the mansion at the highest speed possible.

"We still need to find Jazz." said Danny.

"Where do you think she is?" asked Tucker.

"I checked almost all the rooms and couldn't find her. I doubt Vlad would put her somewhere I could easily get to…" said Danny as he tried to gather his thoughts.

Which was somewhat difficult to do with Vlad hot on their tail.

"The basement!" yelled Sam and Danny as they both somehow reached the same conclusion.

"Then, to the basement!" yelled Tucker as he pointed onwards.

"Hang on." said Sam as she moved the vehicle downwards past multiple floors.

"Jazz!" yelled Danny.

When they finally reached the basement, they had a clear view of Jazz tied to a beam by rope and a piece of cloth wrapped tightly around her mouth. Danny wasted no more time and flew straight towards his sister.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

He only received a stiff nod in return. Before he could even think of untying her, Vlad had already made his way to the basement.

"Did you really think you could rescue Jasmine without me catching you?" asked Vlad.

"I was kind of hoping for that." said Danny as he blocked Vlad's view of Jazz and prepared to lunge towards him.

Before Vlad could say another word Danny quickly flew towards him and phased them both up a floor to give his friends a chance to untie Jazz.

He gave Vlad an uppercut, which stunned him long enough to send a few green ecto blasts his way. Vlad recovered from the barrage of attacks and aimed some pink ecto blasts at Danny's legs. He dodged them easily.

"Is your age finally catching up with you Vlad?" asked Danny.

This fight just seemed too easy. Usually Vlad was a more difficult combatant, he would fight back with all the power he had. It was almost like he wasn't even trying. Like this was all just some big distract…

"I can assure you Daniel, that age has nothing to do with it. Since I'm not really here." said 'Vlad' with one final smirk before fading away.

'I was fighting a clone the entire time! Then that means...Jazz!'

He heard an ear piercing scream from the basement. His body reacted on its' own. He flew so fast back to them, before he knew it he was already there. But what he saw, would be burned into his mind forever.

"Say goodbye to your sister Daniel." said Vlad.

He had a pink ecto blast trained directly on Jazz. She looked petrified, tears continued to flow down her cheeks as her gaze was locked onto the blast that would soon end her.

"Any last words for dear Jasmine here?" asked Vlad.

'I'll save her.'

That couldn't have been his conscience, but who or what else could speak directly to your mind? In a split second Danny felt something separate from him.

"I guess Daniel's no longer in the mood for talking. Sorry Jasmine." said Vlad.

Before he could send the blast towards Jazz, an invisible force seemed to send him tumbling backwards.

"W-what?" asked a surprised Vlad.

The invisible force continued to hit Vlad from every possible angle and moved too fast for Vlad to counter any of the attacks.

By the time the invisible force was done with Vlad, he could barely stand. Danny felt what had left his body earlier rejoin him.

'Throw him the ghost portal.'

'Who-'

'Quick, before he gets back up!'

This was no time to argue with himself. Vlad was the immediate threat here. He quickly grabbed Vlad and threw him into the portal. He made his way to a panel and closed the portal before Vlad could even react. He let out a sigh of relief he didn't know he had been holding.

Danny walked back to the beam that held Jazz and phased the rope and cloth off of her.

"Danny!" she yelled through tears.

Her arms were wrapped tightly around him in an embrace.

"You're okay Jazz. You're okay…" said Danny as he rubbed her back to help calm her down.

Her own arms wouldn't budge though. He thought she would never let him go...and he wish she never did. Maybe then she would still be alive.

Melinda's House

"Okay, so everyone understands the plan?" asked Melinda.

They had spent a few hours in her living room coming up with a plan to break Danny out of that asylum once and for all with some help from the young ghost boy.

"Yeah, I'll distract a beautiful nurse while our ghost friend takes her keys." said Eli.

'After I get the keys, I'll unlock Danny's room, lead him towards the front, and mess with a few security cameras along the way.' The ghost wrote in his notepad.

He was quickly running out of blank pages in the little notepad after discussing this plan with them for hours.

"I'll distract the person at the front desk." said Melinda.

After talking to ghosts almost all her life, she understood the living a lot better and could easily connect with them on a more personal level. In other words, she was the perfect person to lead someone else into a long winded conversation about their worries or mundane problems in life.

"I'll pretend to be someone from the morgue and meet Danny halfway with a gurney." said Jim.

He was a paramedic for most of his career and knew the proper procedures when dealing with dead patients.

Once Danny was on the gurney with a white blanket covering him from head to toe, none of the staff would be able to tell who was under it and it wasn't uncommon for people to die in an insane asylum.

"And I'm the getaway driver." said Deliah proudly.

The plan was complete.

"Now, I just hope we can all actually pull this off." said Eli still unsure.

"We have to. If we don't…"

Melinda didn't want to think about what would happen if their plan didn't succeed.

'It will be difficult, but I believe we can do this.' The ghost quickly wrote on a fresh page in the notebook.

"I hope so." said Melinda worriedly.

Jim pulled her in closer and gave her a comforting peck on her forehead.

"We can do this." said a determined Jim.

Melinda hoped that both of them were right. In the meantime, Danny would just have to wait a little longer as they waited for the perfect moment to put their plan into action.

Hopefully, that time was sometime soon for everyone's sake.
