Nasaek looked over the teens. They all sat at the table eating breakfast. They were all silent. "You did decent for your first time battling them as a team. So I have a proposition for you. In two days you will be infiltrating a small equalist base in the slums of the city. They don't have many people there but we thought we might as well start small." Shifa smiled excitedly.
"Is there anything we need to do before we go." Nasaek nodded at the small girl.
"I was just getting to that. You'll all be getting uniforms which will cover your faces so they cannot target you. They will arrive tonight. I also want you to take some other weapon to fight with in case you cannot use your bending. Pinami and Hiaro will be by later with a lot of them, around four or so. You can go through them and they can help you pick something if you don't already have one. Before you go on the mission I am going to give you blue prints of the building and explain the mission to you. Since Akera is considered the leader he will be choosing who gets what job but of course you will get to put some input into it." Nasaek took a deep breath.
"Well I have some business to do at city hall so I am going to be there for a bit. I'll be back later fr your uniforms." Nasaek stood up. "See you all later." He said. He turned and walked away. Kai snorted. She was feeling extra negative.
"Well this is great...we're going on a mission and we're not even prepared." Kai said. Yu frowned at her.
"You're kidding right? You may not be prepare because you have refused to train with Maso but I think the rest of us can handle this." Shifa sighed and Akera gave them annoyed looks.
"We shouldn't fight." He said. Kai ignored him. She stared at Yu.
"We have two days. We know barely anything about each other. Takumi isn't just going to heal that fast and what happens if we can't use our bending. Akera has a katana, Burak and Shifa know how to use weapons but what about the rest of us? We may have a knife with us but do we really know how to use it?" Kai stood up. "Now if you'll excuse me." Kai turned and walked away quickly. Takumi sighed.
"She's right you know we barely know anything about each other and we expect to fight together." They all stared at Takumi. Shifa laughed and sat back in her seat.
"Well to start off, I grew up in a circus with my dad and I stared in a psychic act." Shifa said. The rest of them stare at her. "My mom died when I was young but Ven was there to help me when I needed it, she's Danzi's, my best friend, mom."
"I'm sorry about your mother." Yu said. Shifa shrugged.
"I had a good childhood now someone else." No one said a word. Saiga snorted and sat back in his chair.
"As much fun as this is I have to go get some of my things from my house. Wanna come with me Burak." Burak frowned at the earthbender but nodded.
"Fine." He grumbled. Shifa sighed.
"Like Takumi said we know barely anything about each other. How are we going to work with each other when none of us try?" Shifa said in annoyance. Yu smiled at the girl and Akera shrugged.
"Truthfully I don't feel like pouring out my whole life story all of you guys... wouldn't it just be easy to go down town and hang out a bit?" Shifa grinned widely at him.
"That would be awesome. We can get lunch and I can bring all of you guys to the circus to see some of the things we do there! We just need to be back by around four. " Shifa said. She turned to Burak and Saiga. "You two can go get his stuff and bring it back here then meet us." Saiga shrugged at the younger girl and Burak nodded though he wasn't really paying attention. "However someone is going to have to convince Kai to come because we can't just leave her here."
Takumi looked over at Yu who shook her head. Saiga stood up. "I can do it." He stretched his arms out as the others gave him a strange look. "No offense but you and Kai don't exactly seem to be on he best terms." Burak said. Saiga raised an eyebrow at him.
"Then you'll come with me. I'm sure the both of us can convince her some how. We can just bring her along with us. " Saiga said. Burak nodded and turned to them.
"Where should we meet?" Takumi asked. They all looked at each other. Yu shrugged and stood up.
"There's this cafe downtown Seibun Garden...we could go there." Yu suggested. Akera shrugged and nodded in response.
"That should be fine right?" He asked. The others nodded as Burak and Saiga glanced at each other.
"Well we better go and get the hothead." Saiga said.
"You still haven't explained how you know all the stuff you told us." Kai said as they walked on the streets. Saiga was in front and Burak and Kai followed behind him.
"Your lucky we're here or I wouldn't have told you." Saiga said. Kai looked down the alley way they had come from. Saiga took out a key for the door and placed it in the door. He then turned it and opened it. He held the door open and Burak and Kai walked in. H locked in on his way in. "I have to get my stuff but first we need to talk about some things." Saiga slid past them and started to walk up the stairs. Kai and Burak followed. Saiga led them up and then he walked to table.
"Sit here." He said. "I have to go get something." Kai and Burak did as he ordered ad sat down in the chairs by the table. A moment later he came back with three large piece's of paper. He took the first one and put it on the table. He spread it out. "This is a map of the city."
"When Nasaek shows us the maps or blue prints or whatever tonight I want you to memorize some of them so I can mark it down then we can check them out." Kai sighed.
"You're still on this stupid thing?" Kai asked. Burak gave her a questioning look.
"Saiga things Nasaek is up to something which is totally stupid by the way." Saiga frowned at her and pulled his hair out of his eyes.
"I'm just being careful. At least I'm being smart. You're going around doing whatever you want in your free time. Sooner or later they are going to notice then they'll find out about the Agni-Kai and I bet you they won't trust you anymore. Plus Shifa is pretty smart, I can tell already she'll probably find out soon." Kai scowled at him.
"I doubt they barely trust me now! They know I'm a thief. And I don't care what Shifa thinks. I just have to be smart about it." Kai stopped. "If you tell them- Saiga held up his hands and gave her a cocky grin.
"I have nothing to gain by doing that you-
"Oh shut up both of you!" Burak yelled a them. Kai and Saiga turned towards the younger boy. He held out his hands. Kai sighed an crossed her arms. Saiga went back to the map.
"As I was saying. We need to be careful. So try and remember some of those things. If they are actually there when we check them then Nasaek isn't lying but if there is nothing there he is lying. "
"You know Kai is kind of right. We don't know you...how can we trust you with this." Burak said. Saiga sighed.
"I was born in the earth kingdom and when I was little I moved to Kyoshi island until I came here. I'm an only child-
"Okay we get it." Kai stopped him. She bit her lip and took a deep breath. Saiga watched her.
"You said the Agni-Kai wants me to be a spy. I don't want to be a spy. In fact the only reason I joined them was because I needed money. You also said they interrogated an equalist. Which by the way you didn't tell me how you got the information." Saiga nodded.
"I have a lot of friends." Saiga answered simply. "I have no idea how they got the information out of the man but they did." He added. Kai bit her lip.
"The Agni-Kai have some brutal methods." She responded. "Anyway. So we have the Agni-Kai looking for me and an equalist spy, we need to be careful. I don't think the three of us should go out a one any more."
"That's all you were going to say. I mean I agree- Kai stopped Saiga.
"I wasn't done. We need to find this spy but we probably need to alert the others don't you think." Saiga scowled.
"I don't- He stopped. "I'll make you a deal Kai. We, just the three of us try and figure out if Nasaek is the spy. If he isn't we can tell the others okay?" Kai nodded and they looked over at Burak.
"It's fine with me. It would probably be better to have a smaller group to start out with though. Because if they spy isn't Nasaek it either has to be one of us or one of the teachers."
