CHAPTER 14

Arizona was… shocked. To her very core. What was the matter with Callie? Why was she acting so strangely? They had agreed, she thought. Agreed about where they were going to go. What made her suddenly change her mind? Had she known this, she too would have applied for the program at UCLA. She could do that much for Callie. What was up with Callie anyway? She seemed normal to Arizona the whole day. Not a single word was uttered about their university choices. Well, except in the park, where they both agreed on going to the University of Washington.

Huh.

Okay, let's talk about this. What's the matter? Everything seemed fine today. – A

Thirteen minutes. That's how long it took Callie to reply. And Arizona stared at her phone for the full thirteen minutes in pure agony, waiting for it to just beep with a message.

It's complicated. Let's talk about this in person? – C

No sooner than Arizona read the message, she typed her own reply with quivering fingers and hit 'Send'.

I'm coming right over. Shall I? – A

This time, Callie's reply was as quick as hers.

No, not right now. Let's talk about it after school tomorrow? My place. – C

Groaning, but complying nonetheless, Arizona typed her own reply.

No, mine. Parents won't be there. See you tomorrow. Goodnight, Callie. – A

Okay. Goodnight, Arizona. – C

After reading Callie's last message, Arizona fell back onto the mattress and covered her face with her pillow, hoping the cool material would soothe her in some way. Before she could get comfortable in her current position, her phone beeped again. Not in the mood to talk to anyone, Arizona considered not checking the message. But then again, it could be Callie.

Are you mad at me? – C

Yeah, it was Callie. Sighing, Arizona stared at the message for a good few minutes, not quite reading it, contemplating her reply to it.

We'll talk tomorrow, Callie. I can't say anything right now. – A

You're mad. I'm sorry. – C

Arizona could not deny the fact that she was angry. No, angry was yesterday. She was beyond pissed at this moment. And she was not thinking rationally.

We'll talk tomorrow. – A

Okay, okay. – C

Ugh, did Callie even care? Arizona's mind was reeling. She was coming up with all sorts of explanations, mostly irrational, to justify Callie's attitude. Callie was being… selfish, Arizona thought. She was thinking about herself. She did not value her relationship with Arizona enough. She did not love Arizona. She wanted to see someone else. She…

'Okaaaay,' Arizona thought. This is where she was going to stop. Callie would never do that to her. She was obsessing now. Rolling over on her stomach and still keeping her head covered with her pillow, Arizona tried, in vain, to fall asleep. She just couldn't stop. It was not as bad as it seemed, she thought. Or not. She would find out soon enough…

Pulling her books out of her locker, Callie looked around to spot Arizona. So far, she thought, Arizona had tactfully managed to avoid her. No, correction. She had managed to avoid Callie rather tactlessly. When she saw Callie approaching her in the hall, she just turned around and walked away. When Arizona, Teddy, Addison, Samuel and Mark were standing and chatting, and she came to join them, Arizona abruptly excused herself and practically ran in the opposite direction. Frustration boiled within Callie. Arizona was making this difficult. They agreed to talk. How were they going to talk if Arizona could not even acknowledge her?

Walking up to Arizona's locker, Callie stopped short when she saw Arizona. She looked so… flustered. She was not the usual cool, calm, confident Arizona. She seemed very... real. Very human at this moment. At the sight, Callie felt her eyes sting with tears. What was the matter with her? Why was she close to breaking down and sitting down there and bawling her eyes out? This was just a normal misunderstanding. These things happen, Callie kept telling herself. Yet, she could not shake that bad feeling. Collecting herself, she walked up to Arizona and stood next to her.

"Why are you avoiding me?" Callie asked tentatively.

Looking up and seeing Callie, Arizona quickly busied herself with her books in her locker. "Oh, hey. Sorry. I'm a little busy today."

Rolling her eyes at the blonde, Callie quipped, "Yeah, right. You practically ran away from me. You've been doing that all day. DO you not want me to come over today? To talk?" Callie's voice broke, giving her away.

Noticing the quiver in Callie's voice, Arizona looked up at the other girl. Sighing, she pulled her into one of the softest kisses they had ever shared. "Of course I do," Arizona said, and with that, she turned around and walked away yet again, to get to her class in time.

Callie was sitting on the steps to Arizona's house. The Colonel and Barbara were not here, and Arizona was not home yet. So, here she was. Sitting and waiting for Arizona. Just then her phone beeped with a text message.

Where are you? – A

Callie quickly punched the keys with her thumb and sent the message.

I'm there already. Where are YOU? – C

Okay, hang on. Almost there. – A

In less than five minutes, Callie saw Arizona's car pulling into the driveway. Jumping out and slamming the door shut, Arizona walked straight towards Callie.

"H-hey," Callie managed to get out.

Ignoring the other girl's greeting, Arizona simply grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the door behind her. Quickly unlocking the door, she shoved Callie inside and banged it shut.

"Right. So, we need to, like, talk," Callie started saying, only to be cut off by a rough kiss that stole her breath. Grabbing a fistful of blonde hair and pulling Arizona off of her, Callie started to speak again. "Wait, wait, Arizona, please. Let's just talk," she said, her voice husky.

"Not right now," Arizona said in a tone that startled Callie. "Just… not right now." With that, Arizona went back to kissing Callie, ripping off her red tank top to gain access to the skin underneath.

By now, Callie was weak in the knees. She wanted Arizona, yes, all the time, but right now she had to admit she was a little scared. Snapped out of her reverie by pale hands yanking down her underwear along with her jeans, Callie asked, "Wait, what are you doing? We really should-"

"I said not now," Arizona said in the same tone that scared Callie but turned her on a bit, too. "I'll have you and I'll have you here. This is not a request."

It was then that Callie noticed where they were; Arizona's kitchen. God, what was happening? Arizona pushed her against the counter, kissing her roughly yet again, forcing her tongue into the Latina's mouth while her hands harshly grabbed at her breasts. Callie stopped fighting, deciding to give in to what it was that Arizona wanted. Unhooking Callie's bra, Arizona stooped to take a hardened nipple in her mouth, biting it hard enough to hurt, eliciting a cry from the brunette. Grabbing at Callie's waist, Arizona turned her around, and with one hand on Callie's back, made her bend over onto the counter. Not caring if the Latina was ready for her or not, she roughly entered Callie with two fingers.

"Ahhh!" Callie exclaimed, her voice dripping with arousal, "God, Arizona, you need to-"

"Stay quiet," Arizona rasped out. The hand that was on Callie's back moved upwards to tangle into dark hair and pull the other girl's head up as Arizona continued to pound into her relentlessly. She needed this. Some semblance of control over something. Over anything, really.

Callie could feel her orgasm approaching her as Arizona roughly continued to fuck her. "Oh god, Arizona… I'm- Ahhh!" Callie screamed, her orgasm hitting her like a truck. Arizona did not stop pounding into Callie, and soon Callie was writhing with her second orgasm. When Arizona still hadn't stopped, Callie tumbled headlong into her third orgasm, tears forming in her eyes due to sheer exhaustion and lack of oxygen, screaming for Arizona to stop, but wanting her to continue nevertheless.

Returning to her senses, Arizona pulled away from Callie completely. But when she noticed Callie was barely able to stand, she turned her back around to face her, pressing her body against Callie's and burying her head in the sweaty neck, and letting her own tears flow. "I am so very sorry, Calliope. Are you hurt?" Arizona asked, her voice shaking.

Callie was trying to catch her breath, still unable to speak, from both shock as well as exhaustion. Inspite of what had happened, Callie couldn't help but wrap her arms around her now weeping girlfriend, pulling her in as close as she could. "Are you hurt?" she asked softly, which only made Arizona cry more.

"I'm- God, I feel so- Helpless!" Arizona choked out.

"Shh, hey, it's okay," Callie said, pulling Arizona's face away from her neck and bringing her head down to kiss Arizona, her tongue swiping softly at Arizona's, who readily granted her entrance. Before it could escalate, or before Arizona started weeping even worse, Callie broke away. "Let's go upstairs," she said, moving away from the counter and Arizona to collect her clothes which were lying on the floor.

Arizona followed Callie into her own room, tears still flowing freely. "Are you hurt?" she asked yet again.

Callie turned around and looked straight into Arizona's eyes. "No, I'm not," she said. Walking towards Arizona, who was standing in the doorway, Callie took her hand and gently led her to the bed, making her lie down and climbing on top of her.

"Are you sure? I was- I'm sorry. I just needed-"

Callie cut her off, "Yeah, I know. I know," she murmured soothingly into Arizona's ear. Callie propped herself up on her elbows, looking at Arizona, who still had tears in her eyes. "I'm okay, baby, really. If both of us weren't upset right now, I would have thoroughly enjoyed being taken like that by you," Callie said, trying to lighten the atmosphere. When Arizona still did not look convinced, Callie made her sit up and strip her of all her clothes. "Here, let me just-" she said, trying to adjust herself on top of Arizona, kissing her softly after their encounter in the kitchen. "How are you feeling?" Callie asked, studying Arizona's face for some visual clue.

"I love you, Callie. I would never hurt you. Not deliberately, anyway," Arizona mumbled, avoiding Callie's gaze.

Callie kissed Arizona again, gently probing her tongue into Arizona's mouth. The blonde responded this time, kissing Callie back in a cautious manner, afraid of doing anything that might hurt her again. Sighing in exasperation, Callie pulled back. "I'm not hurt, Arizona. Believe me when I say that," she said, now kissing a trail down Arizona's exposed body. When she reached the apex of her legs, she lightly lapped at the arousal she found there. Moaning softly, Arizona reached out with her hand, which immediately tangled into dark hair.

"No, Calliope, you don't have to…" Arizona started getting out, gasping at the sensations the tongue was causing her to feel.

"I want to," Callie said, and continued her slow, sensuous assault on Arizona's core. Her exploring mouth found the hard bundle of nerves, and sucked on it, getting a low moan in response. With her mouth attached to Arizona's clit, Callie brought a hand up and thrust slowly into Arizona, enjoying the way her hips bucked and how her mouth opened in a soundless scream.

"Calliope, I- I love- love- more," Arizona croaked out, on the edge of her orgasm. Upon hearing Arizona, Callie started thrusting a little deeper, sucking a little harder till Arizona was moaning in sheer ecstasy. Gently pulling away from Arizona after she came back down from her high, Callie climbed back on top of her and lay there, enjoying the closeness with the love of her life.

After quite a while, Arizona finally spoke up. "You're going to UCLA," Arizona said.

"Yes," Callie let out.

"But you're not doing this for yourself."

"No."

"You want me to go to Hopkins," Arizona said, realizing it as she said it.

"Yes," Callie said, her voice quivering.

"That's why you're going to UCLA."

"Yes," Callie said again.

"Why didn't you apply to Hopkins, too? Or ask me to apply to UCLA?"

"I- I don't know," Callie said.

"Do you love me?"

"I love you, Arizona."

"I love you too," Arizona said. "Do you want to do long distance?"

"I… don't know. Do you?" Callie asked.

"I- No. It would be too painful. I can't," Arizona admitted.

"It would be painful for me, too."

"I know," Arizona said, her voice small. "Are we- Is this- Are we breaking up?"

"We- We still have a couple of months before we have to leave," Callie said, sounding desperate.

"True."

"I'll take whatever I can from you."

"I will, too," Arizona said.

"But eventually-"

"We're going to break up."
