A/N: I'm sorry for being so so so late! *Hides behind sofa*… I was abroad in Egypt (which by the way was amazing…worth a visit!) and then I had writers block – I know what I want to write but don't know how to convey it. So I apologise beforehand for this chapter. {Ooooo And I went to the Doctor Who Proms :')}…and the name change…how many of you know what Lokabrenna is?
Thank you so much for follows, reviews and favourites! You guys are the best! Anyway, this chapter will be Sirius/Talya centred with more fun, tension and music! X
Previously: "Talya," Remus started. "Professor Dumbledore has told me about your aversion to magic." Talya thought Remus probably knew more than he was letting on.
At Talya's smile and nod he continued, "He thinks it's wise that you learn some form of self-defence just in case you find yourself in danger."
"Okay I'm up for it." Talya said conveniently leaving out that she was trained in martial arts.
"Good. He has appointed Bill and," he hesitated before saying, "…and Sirius to help you."
Talya's head snapped to Sirius. He was looking at Remus with wide eyes and slight anger. 'Oh this is going to be fun!' thought Talya.
Sirius was dreading the training sessions. He had managed to escape the first couple of sessions citing sickness but now Bill had gone to St. Mungos with the rest of his family and Harry and Hermione too. Remus was also absent from Grimmauld Place. It was Christmas Eve and Talya and he were the only ones left. Was this all a big ploy? Because now that Sirius thought about it, Bill had refused to mention anything about how the self-defence lessons went. Sirius was nervous; about being in close proximity with her. He didn't know how he would react.
Talya was very anxious about the lesson with Sirius. She knew he was avoiding her and making excuses so he wouldn't have to be there. Her lessons with Bill had been fun and he figured out that she had previous training. Talya made him promise not to tell Sirius though. She was waiting in the attic, where they had made a clearing so they could practice. Meanwhile, Sirius was at the bottom of the stairs, willing himself to go up.
'Well might as well get it over and done with,' he thought as he made his way up the stairs. Talya heard him and briefly closed her eyes and exhaled air to calm herself. "Hi!" she called as soon as she saw him.
Sirius cleared his throat, "Er…Hello."
"Finally showed up eh?" Sirius just let out a nervous laugh in return. Then they delved into a weird silence. 'Oh for God's sake! We're getting nowhere!' Talya mentally said after three minutes of awkward shuffling.
Breaking the silence she said, "So Bill usually makes me stretch, and then we dive right into it. It's quite hands on."
"Yes…er…yes that sounds good." He replied, avoiding her eyes.
"Sirius, do you have a problem with me?" Talya questioned boldly.
"What?! No of course not!"
"Well then why have you been avoiding me?"
"I was just busy that's all, I didn't mean to alienate you." Talya knew he was lying but let it pass.
"Okay then. We're friends yes?" Sirius nodded. "Right let's get to it then. I'll hit and you block."
Without so much as a warning, Talya leapt at him and threw a punch to the left. If it wasn't for Sirius' good reflexes he would have been hit. He stopped it just in time, but hesitated when it was time to return the attack. Talya sensed this,
"What? Too sissy to hit a girl?" she taunted. She saw the gleam in Sirius' eyes change. Now it would get interesting. He locked his right leg behind hers and knocked it from the ground. Talya feeling she was falling snatched her left hand away from his grasp and neatly flipped herself backwards.
Sirius stared, his mouth agape. "Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you…I'm kinda awesome," she said with a smirk.
Finding his playful side he replied with "Bring it!" The next couple of minutes consisted of flying punches, dodges, jumps and kicks. Talya was thoroughly enjoying herself. As Sirius outstretched his arm to grab her, she saw her opportunity, turned and seized it with both of her hands and upturned him over her back. He landed with a thud and groaned. Talya laughed wholeheartedly.
"I win Siri-ahhh!" Talya also found her legs knocked from under her and landed on top of him. He rolled over so she was trapped. "I win!" he said. They both found themselves in a fit of laughter. As their mirth died down, they realised just how compromising their position was. Talya was pinned between the floor and Sirius. She saw how close Sirius' face was to hers. She stared up into his unfathomable eyes, glancing at his lips before staring back at his grey pools.
Sirius looked over the girl below him with wonderment; she was exactly how he remembered. He so wanted to kiss her. Would her lips taste of strawberry like they normally did all those years ago? He quickly retreated from these thoughts when he saw her looking at his lips. Sirius leapt off of her, hurriedly apologised and left the attic without so much as a backward glance.
Talya remained on the floor, transfixed. Wow. Okay she definitely felt something for Sirius Black. She covered her face with her hands and let out a long sigh.
xXx
By the evening, everyone who had gone to visit Mr Weasley were back and were now gathered in the drawing room after eating delicious dinner, courtesy of Mrs Weasley. Mrs Weasley though, had returned to St. Mungo's to spend Christmas Eve with her husband. Everybody was silent and could think of no things to say.
So Talya brought it on herself to improve everyone's mood. She wasn't going to spend Christmas Eve like this. She signalled Tonks, Hermione and Ginny to join her outside. Once they had convened in the passageway, she spoke,
"It's so dead in there. I want to do something fun!"
"Like what?" asked Hermione.
"A party? Drinks and dancing. I've got songs on my phone, how about that?" Talya suggested.
"Yes. I think I could use an amplifying spell on it. The ministry won't register the magic right? I mean Grimmauld Place is Unplottable and under the Fidelius Charm." Hermione said.
"Yes! I'm up for it. And Talya maybe you could entice Sirius with your dance moves." Ginny said cheekily.
"…And I'll do the party decora-wait WHAT?!" Tonks' brain processed the information it just heard. "What do you mean by 'entice Sirius?' He is old enough to be your father!" She dramatically whispered.
The three girls looked like deer caught in headlights. "Oops." said Ginny.
"Yes oops is a good word!" Talya reprimanded. At the look of bewilderment on Tonks' face, Talya said, "Don't worry Tonks, I'm 21 (I think). Basically…" and she went on to quickly and quietly explain her situation and all the things they had overheard on the day she arrived.
"Whoa." Tonks was in a state of surprise. Though she soon broke out of it when she said, "I want to expand on what Ginny said, and suggest that you maybe dance with others to make him jealous!"
"Tonks! That's a terrible idea." Hermione scolded as the other two laughed. "Anyway, think of the decorations you're going to do as there's already Christmas ones up. Talya and I will go sort her phone out for the music."
Once the amplifying spell was put on Talya's mobile phone and they were back outside the room, she signalled Tonks to do the decorations. Gasps of shock and surprise were heard from inside the room. The girls all entered (Ginny with a stash of butterbeer and Firewhiskey she had nabbed from the kitchen) and Talya pressed play on her phone. 'Do the Hippogriff' was blasted from it.
"What's going on?" Remus shouted over the music.
"Party!" the girls replied. Fred and George cheered and went straight to the drinks while Bill and Charlie shook their heads with smiles on their faces.
"Come on Harry…Ron!" Talya pulled them off their seats while the song played:
Move your body like a hairy troll
Learning to rock and roll
Spin around like a crazy elf
Dancin' by himself
Boogie down like a unicorn
No stoppin' till the break of dawn
Put your hands up in the air
Like an ogre, who just don't care
"Oh! Can you dance like a hippogriff? Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma! Flyin' off from a cliff! Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma!" Talya sang along enthusiastically. She had given up trying to make the boys dance so was dancing with Tonks and Ginny instead.
Sirius, who had been silent until now, was watching Talya with a grin on his face. He had missed her so much. She wasn't any different from how he remembered her; always the heart of a party. By now Fred and George had joined the girls and were trying to coax Hermione to join in too.
When the second chorus came around everyone but Remus and Sirius had joined in. "Where is this song even from?" Tonks questioned Talya.
"A gift from my world! It's a song by The Weird Sisters used in a Harry Potter film." And she proceeded to give Harry a playful wink. The song ended with cheers. Talya and Tonks went to get drinks as the next song played (Always Love by Nada Surf).
"That was fun! Phew…its hot!" Tonks said fanning herself.
"Yeah you were really giving it your all!" Talya replied.
"Methinks it's time for Operation Green!" Talya raised her eyebrows in question. "Operation Get Sirius Jealous. Oh come on, green is known as the colour of envy."
Talya laughed and went to reply but was interrupted by the twins.
"What's this I hear Fred?"
"Plotting and pranking without us? For shame! Leaving the masters out in their own area of expertise!" George replied.
Tonks and Talya shared a silent conversation before turning to the twins. "Right boys. Here's the latest."
Their reaction was similar to Tonks and they recovered quickly. "So Talya choose a song and choose a twin!"
"Okay I will but first I want everyone to dance to Jump On It (by SugarHill Gang)." And that's what they proceeded to do. Talya taught everyone the moves and Tonks even managed to make Remus have a try but he promptly stopped due to Sirius' laughter.
"Don't stop on my behalf Moony!"
"Shut up Padfoot!" Remus playfully scolded.
"I haven't had this much fun in ages!" Ginny said through her laughter.
"I think everyone needed this." Talya said. She turned to look at Tonks who signalled to the twins and then slyly winked. Talya also caught Hermione's eye, who gave her a shake of her head, as if to tell her not to go ahead with it.
'No. I'm gonna do it,' Talya thought to herself, 'I hope it doesn't go badly. Okay now don't be too slutty—OMG what am I thinking?' she mentally berated herself.
She chose the song 'Explode' by Cover Drive and walked up to Fred. "Sorry George!" she said cheekily as she led Fred to a space where they were sure to be seen by Sirius.
The song was borderline sensual but they danced – well Fred tried – with little suggestiveness as possible. Talya was actually enjoying herself; sometimes she just lost herself in the music. Charlie and George catcalled and wolf whistled.
Sirius' attention immediately went to the dancing couple. He was overcome with sadness and to his surprise envy. Remus could see the change in his friends face and instantly the joy he was feeling evaporated. Sirius put his drink down and walked across the room to the exit. As he brushed past the swaying pair, Talya saw the hurt and gloom in his face and stopped. He rushed out the door.
'Idiot of course this was a bad idea.' Talya thought to herself. She looked around to see disappointment etched on Remus's face and a 'I told you so' look on Hermione's face.
"Go after him." said Ginny.
Sirius made his way to the garden. He shouldn't have been feeling this way. Talya didn't know anything of their past. And even if she did, she was entitled to do as she pleased. But…but she was his Talya. He didn't know if he had it in him to see her with somebody else. He put his face in his hands and tried to banish these thoughts.
Sirius could still hear the music from inside. A new song was playing now and he listened to it intently but it did not quench all these feelings; in fact it fuelled them more.
Heart beats fast
Colours and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
He did not hear Talya join him outside. She stood behind him, guilt overcoming her as she saw the shrunken figure of Sirius. Her stupidity had done this and it was time to fix it. Talya could hear 'A Thousand Years' playing,
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt
Suddenly goes away somehow
She would ask him to dance. She wanted to redeem herself and ask for forgiveness. She moved towards him.
One step closer
Talya reached out and placed her hand on his shoulder. He turned abruptly and had a look of astonishment on his face. He started to say something but she put a hand on top of his mouth. Talya motioned a dance movement and held her hand out to him. He hesitantly took it.
I have died every day
waiting for you
Darlin' don't be afraid
I have loved you for a
Thousand years
I'll love you for a
Thousand more
Sirius felt complete. As he lead Talya in a dance around the garden he couldn't help but smile. Her body moulded perfectly into his. His eyes shone with happiness and they were mirrored in hers. The words of the song; they portrayed his feelings exactly.
Time stands still
beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything
Take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath,
Every hour has come to this
One step closer
Talya was subconsciously mouthing the words of the song as they danced. Sirius couldn't help but feel slightly elated at this. Would the words ever be true?
I have died every day
Waiting for you
Darlin' don't be afraid
I have loved you for a
Thousand years
I'll love you for a
Thousand more
All those years spent in Azkaban but he knew he wouldn't be there forever. He knew he would see her again. Her departing words had been,
"It's okay, it's okay. It's not over for you. You'll see me again. You've got all of that to come!"*
Those words had ignited a flame of hope within him and helped him keep his mind while he was imprisoned with the ghastly Dementors. After making his escape, it was just a matter of waiting.
And all along I believed
I would find you
Time has brought
Your heart to me
I have loved you for a
Thousand years
I'll love you for a
Thousand more
As they danced in their own little world, they didn't notice Tonks and the twins come to the garden door. Tonks was armed with a wizarding camera and started to take photos straight away and sighed happily at the sight. They looked like a couple who were very much in love. Meanwhile the twins were busy floating mistletoe over to Talya and Sirius. And it wasn't ordinary mistletoe either; it was one that wouldn't let the couple out from under it unless they kissed.
The song was nearing its end now and Talya found herself comfortingly close to Sirius. She had both her hands around his neck while his hands were on her waist. She looked up to his face as they both stopped spinning. She could feel his breath on her cheeks and wanted nothing more than to kiss him. Sirius watched as she leaned in and closed her eyes. This was it, he thought happily.
But suddenly he broke out of his reverie as he remembered her status as Harry's classmate. Sirius dropped his arms and tried to step back but found that he couldn't. What?
Talya opened her eyes when she felt his grip slip away. She felt rejection bubbling up inside her and looked up to see Sirius glancing up at something above their heads. Talya followed his vision and saw mistletoe.
"Talya, I'm sorry we can't – I can't!" Sirius said as he tried to move away again.
"Why not?" she challenged. They would have to kiss anyway if they wanted to move.
"'Why not?' Because you're 16 that's why!"
'Oh yeah, he still thinks I'm young.' she thought with a smile. Seeing this Sirius questioned,
"Why are you smiling like that?"
"Because I'm not 16."
"Oh Merlin you're 15?"
"No you fool, I'm 21!"
"What?" Sirius asked with shock and relief.
"I'm 21. My birthday is in May and it was April when I was transported here. And I've been here for a month so technically if you do the ma-…"
Sirius silenced her with a kiss. She sighed into it. The kiss was everything she thought it would be; sweet, full of passion and love but far too short for her liking. It stopped as soon as her head got around to processing what was happening.
Tonks had taken multiple photos by this time and slowly retreated back in the room with the twins. Sirius and Talya were staring at each other, contemplating what to say.
Talya went first, "Sirius I'm sorry about what happened before. I didn't mean for you to get so hurt."
Sirius was hushed for a while as if he was trying to work something out.
"You know don't you?" he asked.
"Know what?" but she already knew the answer to this.
"About us. In the past." He saw her nod her head and felt anger surfacing. "You knew all this time and didn't tell me the truth about your age? I've been feeling like a pervy, old git and beating myself up about having treacherous thoughts about you!"
Talya flinched but said nothing. She deserved this. Even though she was 21, she had never felt more like a child.
"And you know about the past, don't you know how hard this has been? And you just make a mockery of my feelings?"
Talya could feel her eyes burning with tears. Sirius lowered his voice and said,
"Talya, you can joke with people you care about, but you don't joke with their feelings. Did you ever think for a moment…that your games could be so hurtful to others?" And with a disappointed sigh he left.
Talya felt the tears fall from her eyes. She was furious at herself and at the way she had treated Sirius. It was inevitable that someone would get hurt. She didn't want this to end as soon as it had begun. She had to make amends. Fast.

A/N: And that's Chapter 14. Longest one yet. Again I'm sorry…I'm so sorry for the lateness. :(
My story is more than a year old now and I hardly noticed. What did you think of this? I know Sirius is very AU but I think he would be different if he was in love. Please review with suggestions and critique. Thank you so much for sticking by me! x x x
