Stanley was a very slow digger. Even in his first couple of days we could all see this. X-Ray was being better to him than he had been to Barfbag though, he kept the teasing to a minimum and when everyone saw X-Ray cool it down, the whole tent rolled back as well.

One day we were circled around the pool table while Stanley was still in the showers, or digging, wherever he was, he wasn't there with us. X-Ray looked around at us with a proud expression on his face. "Yo guys, and Magpie, I figured out the new kid's name."

Everyone let out noises of excitement and leaned closer. Zero held back, silently looking at us with that pinched up expression on his face. X-Ray had tried to welcome Zero into our group, but Zero had practically refused everything X-Ray had done. X-Ray glanced around the Wreck Room, making sure that Stanley wasn't going to walk in suddenly. Once he deemed the coat was clear, X-Ray looked back at us and leaned forward too.

"Caveman," He said. I nodded with understanding; earlier in the week, Stanley had found a tiny rock with a fish fossil in it. The second he found it, I could see the wheels begin to turn in X-Ray's mind. Everyone else agreed that the name Caveman was a good fit right as Caveman walked into the Wreck Room. We watched him carefully, waiting for him to walk over so that we could break the news to him.

Lump had his legs propped up right in Caveman's path, and Caveman was so tired that he didn't see Lump's legs. He collided into Lump, which caused Lump to launch himself from his seat and shove Caveman to the ground.

"Crap," Squid muttered as he and Armpit hurried forward to save Caveman from Lump's aggression. X-Ray went with them, stepping in between the two groups with his hands in the air. I stood back with Magnet and Zero. I glanced over to Zero and I raised my eyebrows at him as I saw that he had grasped at a ball from the pool table. Zero met my gaze with that intensity that he had, and he dropped the ball.

X-Ray led the boys back to the pool table again and we all circled around it. Caveman looked flustered, thinking that he had done something terribly wrong. I glanced over to where A-Tent was talking with Lump. Tank towered over his tentmates and he glanced over at us. I locked eyes with him but dropped my gaze.

It was common knowledge that Tank's release date was in a week. He'd be free again in just seven days.

Five days after Caveman got his new name, he found something in his hole. Magnet spotted him staring at something between his fingers and had sounded the alarm, asking Caveman what he had. Immediately, X-Ray's head popped up and he hurried over to Caveman's hole, along with everyone else. I stood between Magnet and Squid as the tiny object was passed around from person to person.

"I think it's a shotgun shell," Zigzag said.

"Nah it's too thin to be a shotgun shell," Squid said, toothpick dangling from his mouth. He handed the thing to me and I twirled it around my fingers, recognizing it the second I laid my hands on it.

"It's a tube of lipstick," I said. Everyone stared at me. "Seriously, I've seen hundreds of these things. I've even stolen quite a few. It's lipstick." I handed it to Magnet, who opened up the tube and twisted it, just like you would if it had lipstick in it.

"If only it still had some in it," Magnet said with a sigh. "Then I could be the queen of Green Lake." Everyone laughed at this as Armpit wretched the tube from Magnet.

"Man, you wouldn't be the queen bee here-I'd be!" Armpit struck a pose and I laughed so hard my sides started to hurt. X-Ray took the tube from Armpit and looked it over, twirling it around in his fingers.

"Guess I could show it to Mom, see if I get the day off." X-Ray said with a shrug. He began to leave Caveman's hole, so we all followed him. But Caveman stood up and faced X-Ray.

"That's not fair! You're halfway done with your hole; I'm not even close to being finished!"

I glanced between X-Ray and Caveman. I had never seen anyone stand up to X-Ray that way. Apparently neither had anyone else because they all froze and either glared at Caveman for his nerve, or stared at X-Ray in anticipation for what he'd do next.

X-Ray took a step towards Caveman. "Yeah, so?" Caveman blinked, as if he just realized how deep he was in if he tried to pick a fight with X-Ray, one of the longest residing camper at Green Lake.

"W-Why don't you pretend like you found it tomorrow?" Caveman suggested, looking like he was coming up with this plan on the spot. "You could do it in the morning, and then get the whole day off?"

X-Ray tilted his head to the side a bit and smiled at Caveman. "That's good thinkin', Caveman." He went back to his hole, and we all followed his lead, telling Caveman that his idea was a good plan. Caveman watched X-Ray take the lipstick tube away, looking defeated.
