Hey guys! Back again with another chapter for Music Will Save You! :) I was going to wait until I had 110 reviews but I did get over a hundred and that's something to be happy about! I'm super excited! Not only do I have a couple amazing ideas for this story but I have another story in mind. I'm typing a draft of it...Making ideas! I was going to Co-Write with another writer but she hasn't PM-ed me back since she agreed and it's hard to form ideas if she won't respond...
Review Responses!
Jedi1: Yea I wanted to get Annabeth out of her little "Percy, Cody, Emily" circle! She's adorable so she can have more friends. Yeah we can't control who we like...And Cody doesn't know how bad Hannah treats Emily yet. And he's so blinded by his crush he's not seeing what the relationship is doing to others... Yeah maybe Cody needs to wear a better football helmet! ;)
Wisegirl1480: I knoooowwww me too! I fell in love with it instantly!
Morning and Eve: He loves Emily he just doesn't know it yet! Yeah sorry about the drama but every high school has it! I'm so glad you love the story! It means a lot that it's one of your favorites! Seriously that means a lot! Thank YOU for being one to read this! Listen to the songs and tell me what you think! Yes we're friends! You're so sweet! (It's okay I like long reviews)
FandomsUnite98: YEEESSSS! I know drama will go away soon! I fix some of it in this chapter! and yes! I brought David in!
Heyitsthecats: Cody doesn't know his feelings yet...Maybe with the help of a certain blonde and The Siren's Shadow will help him see what's been in front of him forever ;) and confessing is so scary I don't know how guys do it all the time! And yes Percy is adorable and Annabeth now knows that if a coach thinks you're good luck you're special! Thanks for the review :)
Jake Wolf: Thanks. And it sounded like a date yes but I think since Tanner knows that she likes Cody he isn't going to try anything. Maybe just be a friend to her because she needs one. And Annabeth is Percy's good luck charm! Everyone can see it! They somewhat fix their relationship in this chapter...So look forward to that! Thanks for reviewing!
TyberAurora: Thanks! I know you're a fan of the feels (who isn't?) and yeah I worked hard to make everyone have a soft side for my OC's how am I doing? Thanks I'll try! You stay awesome too! Thanks for all kind words and encouragement! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
BookWhisperer101: Okay I have a new love for you! Coming up with a mash up name for Cody and Emily? Cemily! So sweet! And of course they're will be drama cause Hannah never stops but I couldn't keep them fighting forever! :)
EmiliaBahrentz: Here's you're update ma'am! Enjoy!
GreekPrincess3: First I need to say that everytime I update I ALWAYS look forward to you're reviews! They always make my day! Okay and I'm glad someone addressed my idea! I wanted Annabeth to kind of have different types of friends you know? Jordon the musician(I think I might make her an athlete) who doesn't have any love interests Emily the artist, band member who has a confusing love life and Jessie the shy nerdy type like Annabeth! Who could give her boyfriend advice since she's dating Percy's swim buddy! I don't know I just like the idea! And I'm trying to make the story move in a good direction! Hope I'm still doing a good job! Yes Percy and Annabeth are getting...Friendly ;) and Percy wants to kiss her but since he cant just yet he settles for head kisses! And I want them to kiss to! But I want everything to be somewhat solved with Cody and Emily first because trust me when I get around to the Percabeth kiss it's going to be a HUGE deal. Promise :) Thanks for your wonderful reviews!
firefly9917: Thanks! And they will eventually! You'll know when it's coming and all you're Percabeth feels will go crazy! Thanks for the review!
aslongaswe'retogether: I'm glad you love it! I love that song too! people like us requested it and I fell in love! And yes you were right about David! Good job!

Annabeth:
I could hear Percy laughing behind me but I didn't pay much attention. Inspiration struck me and I needed to get to my piano ASAP. I smiled as my music room came into view. I started to sprint until the beautiful dark brown beauty was in front of me. I sat down and cracked my knuckles. I pulled my journal out and started to write lyrics down. Some of the words were already starting to look like they could work as a chorus. I smiled brightly in satisfaction. A melody started to play through my mind and I sighed. (My cousin writes songs and he says he can just.. hear the music)
I could feel Percy sit beside me.
"Annabeth?"
I turned to him and gestured around.
"Do you hear the music?"
He shook his head and grabbed my hands. He moved them so they were on top of the piano keys. He gestured to the piano with his eyes and smiled.
"No. But something tells me about to."
I nodded and listened carefully to the tune that seemed to be dancing behind my eyes. I started to gently play the piano. At times I would stop and write down the notes played or I would have to switch keys or listen again. After about twenty minutes I started to frown. Yes the song sounded good…the lyrics were starting to form and yet….As I started to play again a new image popped into my head. The orphans…They inspired this song…It should be theirs. I can't play this tomorrow. The setting isn't right.
Percy must have noticed my hesitation. He turned to me.
"You okay Wise Girl?"
I took a minute to answer but I nodded.
"Yea I'm fine. I just…this isn't the right song for tomorrow."
"Well...Okay. Which song is?"
I shrugged and turned back to my journal. I tried to remember if I've ever been in Evergreen's restaurant but I haven't. I've seen it around but have never actually been inside.
"Percy how big is the inside of Evergreen's?"
He thought for a moment.
"I'm not sure….It's about medium sized I guess. Why?"
"I don't know if Cody's drums will fit in there…"
"Cody broke off one of the smaller drums off the side. I don't know if his Dad screwed it back on yet or not."
I groaned and rubbed my temples.
"Cody never mentioned that to me. That would be nice to know! Okay so what if Cody's drums aren't ready for tomorrow?"
Percy shrugged and looked down at his phone.
"I'm not sure. Emily should be here in about ten minutes."
I waved off the information and rubbed my hands together.
"Okay…So if Cody can't play his drum set maybe he can beat on a single drum or something. Or we don't use drums and play something acoustic…That should be okay right? And if Mr. Evergreen likes us and wants us back then we can make sure there is enough room for Cody's drums! Okay I have this figured out. And if the song is acoustic then that limits the list, but it should be easier to pick a song!"
Percy chuckled at my over excitement as I turned back to my journal. My eyes scanned song after song and I made mental marks on the pages with songs that are or could be acoustic. Percy watched for a minute or two but when he realized that I wasn't going to say anything he started texting on his phone. He moved off the piano bench to give me more room and laid on the small couch. I sent him a small smile before turning back to my journal and flipping the page.
And that's how Emily found us ten minutes later. Her greeting startled me since I sat in silence for so long.
"Hey guys!"
I jumped and turned around. Percy yelped and fell off the couch and groaned when he made contact with the floor. Emily and I winced and I got up to help him up.
"Sorry I didn't mean to scare you."
I waved it off and pulled Percy to his feet. He smiled down at me and muttered a thank you. I nodded and returned back to the piano. Emily came and sat down next to me.
"So what do we got?"
"Well Cody didn't tell me about his broken drums and I don't know if there is enough room for a drum set in Mr. Evergreen's restaurant! But I guess Cody will either have to sit this one out or play a single drum in the corner. The song is going to be acoustic."
"Cody's an idiot so don't mind him and okay sounds good. So Percy will play... you'll sing…What do I do?"
Before I could answer Emily stood up. She glanced outside the window and muttered something I couldn't quite catch under her breath. I got up too and walked over. I could see Tanner's car pulling away and Cody's truck parked. Cody himself was staring at Tanner's truck as it drove away but I winced when I got sight of who he was holding hands with.
Emily:
I could see Annabeth winced from the corner of my eye but I didn't care. I was practically seeing red. How dare he bring her here! This is a closed practice Anderson! I gritted my teeth together as Annabeth and I watched them walk over to us. The shed door was open to let the fresh air in but it also meant that they could now see us.
Percy stood up and went to stand behind Annabeth and I. He leaned down and whispered to me.
"You'll be okay. Don't worry."
I turned my head slightly to give him a weak smile. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"Hey guys!"
My eyes opened and I could see Cody and Hannah standing at the entrance to the music room. Hannah was looking around with mild interest and Cody was smiling. I could see him give her hand a squeeze before letting go of it. I remand unmoving as Percy went over to greet Cody with those weird 'bro hand shakes' and when Annabeth slowly approached Hannah. Against my better judgment I followed Annabeth. As much as I hated Hannah I just can't be around Cody. I'm used to Hannah hurting my feelings but Cody is a different story…
"Um….Hello Hannah."
Hannah popped her gum and glanced at Annabeth before looking around again.
"Hey Annabel. Nice place you got here. Very….Musical."
Annabeth nodded slowly and started to back up towards the piano.
"It's Annabeth Hannah. Her name is Annabeth."
Hannah smirked over at me and started to walk closer.
"Oh hey Em! I didn't see you there! But I guess it's not completely my fault…I mean since you're so plain you blend into the crowd so easily."
I glanced to my right to see Cody and Percy talking.
"Don't call me that Hannah. And at least I'm original! You're pretty typical. Blond, blue eyed bitch. Oh and a rude cheerleader. Let me think…There's only been about…oh I say a million of those."(No offence to blond, blue eyed cheerleaders! Not all are like that! My best friend is blond, blue eyed and almost a cheerleader and she's a sweetheart!)
Hannah scoffed and turned to Cody.
"Cody! Emily just insulted me! How can I be friends with her if she's nothing but negative to me?"
My jaw almost hit the floor. Seriously?
"Really Hannah? Tattling? I thought we were older than four."
Percy shared a nervous look with Annabeth and Cody frowned as he walked over to us.
"Em…Can I talk to you outside for a sec?"
I glared at Hannah as I followed Cody out. She seemed to flinch back at my hard gaze. Annabeth smiled sadly at me as I walked out. Poor Percy and Annabeth having to be alone with her. I don't see how Cody enjoys it. He led me under a tree, far enough that the others couldn't hear. I crossed my arms over my chest and glared up into my favorite blue eyes. Cody sighed and gently placed his hands on my upper arms. I could feel my gaze melting under his touch.
"Em…"
I shrugged his hands off and my glare returned.
"Why did you bring her here Cody?"
I kept my voice steady but it was fierce.
"She's my girlfriend Em. She wanted to see us practice!"
I scoffed.
"Right. Course she did! You could have just told her to come to Evergreen's tomorrow! And I don't know why you're even here you're drums are broken!"
"They'll be fixed eventually."
I rolled my eyes and resisted the strong urge to punch him.
"My god Cody!"
I clenched my fists but I could feel them shaking.
"You realize the only reason Hannah wanted to come to practice was to fuck with me! She hates me! I don't know why but she does! She's so rude Cody! She's mean to everyone! How can you like someone like that!? You bring her here even though you know perfectly well that she and I never get along! Are you just trying to rub it in my face or something?"
"What are you talking about? Rub what in your face?"
That you don't like me like that…
"Nevermind…Forget it. You can take your little girlfriend and leave. Be at Evergreen's tomorrow at six sharp. The song's going to be acoustic but I don't know if you're even needed."
I shook my head as I started to walk away but Cody grabbed my hand.
"Emily wait. C'mon talk to me Em…We almost never fight and now we're barely talking! And when we do talk all we do is yell. I don't want that kind of relationship with you. I want the fun one we had. What did I do to make you hate me so much all of a sudden?"
"Have you even been listening? Do you think I like fighting with you? Well I don't! It's her! She's the one that's causing the fighting. You didn't listen to me. Cody she hates me! And I'm beginning to hate her too…..I want you to be happy Cody—"
"She makes me happy."
My heart pounded painfully in my chest. I felt like I was having a heart attack. I could feel bitter tears building up but I began to blink to fight them back. The words I was going to say floated away and I forced new ones to form.
"Well…then go be happy Cody. Your happiness is right there in that shed waiting for you."
I turned my back to him once more and wiped my eyes. Tears were starting to build up after and I increased my pace. I took about ten steps before I heard Cody shout behind me.
"You make me happy too!"
I stopped walking but kept my back to him.
"What?" I said barely above a whisper. He heard me though and that's what made him step closer.
"You make me happy too Emily. You're my best friend."
I didn't say anything and Cody took another step closer.
"I really want you two to get along Em…Please try. You both make me happy…just in different ways."
I shook my head and started to walk again. Obviously Cody doesn't get it. I wiped my eyes once more before walking back in the music room. Annabeth was sitting at the piano, her head was down looking at her journal but she was facing me, she looked up when I walked in. Percy was strumming his guitar quietly and Hannah was watching him. She stood up when I walked in and walked over to me. She glared and I would have slapped her but a warning look from Annabeth stopped me.
"Where's Cody?"
I pointed behind me and brushed by her and walked over to Annabeth. She didn't say anything. She knew she didn't need too, she simply hugged me gently. Percy sighed and sat down in front of us, his guitar still in his lap. Hannah left only to return seconds later with Cody. She reached down to grab his hand but he shook his head and moved his hand away. I didn't look up at him. He cleared his throat and spoke in a soft tone, something Cody almost never does….unless he's really upset.
"Um…I'm gonna take Hannah home. Do you guys need me to…come back?"
Annabeth shook her head and spoke quietly.
"No…If we decide to use drums I'll show you what we're playing tomorrow….I think we're going to wrap up practice early…"
Cody nodded and gestured for Hannah to follow him. When I was sure he was gone I looked up. I saw his walking to his truck, his hands in his pockets. Hannah was walking next to him, her head was tilted to look up at him and it looked like she was talking. Before he got in his truck he sent one sad look over his shoulder before climbing in and pulling out of the driveway.
Cody:
"No Hannah…I'm not really in the mood to hang out today. Maybe we can do something tomorrow."
Hannah slumped in her seat as I made a left turn.
"But Cody! Tomorrow you're going to say you can't hang out because you're performing! And after that little scene with Emily today I doubt Annabel is going to let me come back to practice."
I sighed to myself.
"First her name is Annabeth. Second just because Emily and I had a little fight doesn't mean Annabeth won't let you come back. Wallflower isn't like that, she's really nice."
Hannah rolled her eyes.
"No I mean when Emily came in! She was crying and…Annabeth and Percy know it has something to do with me! They gave me a weird look when Emily came back in."
I stopped at a red light and turned to her.
"What? Emily was crying?"
Hannah nodded and crossed her arms.
"That's like the second time this week too. Geez can you say over dramatic?"
I shook my head and started the car up again.
"C'mon Hannah that isn't nice…I hurt her feelings and I feel awful about it. Can you at least try to be sensitive?"
"I am sensitive! I care if you're upset Cody, now Emily's a different story…"
"Okay stop!" I pulled the car over to the side of the road.
"Hannah if this—"
I gestured to the both of us.
"—Is going to work out then you need to understand something. Emily is my best friend and she has been for a very long time. She means a lot to me and if we're going to work out then you need to be nice to her."
"Cody she isn't exactly 'kind' to me."
"I know…but maybe she needs to see you the way I do. Maybe if you show her some kindness she'll show you some."
Hannah crossed her arms. I moved a little closer to her.
"Please babe?"
She smiled and rolled her eyes and leaned over to give me a quick peck. She pulled away slowly.
"Okay fine. But only for you."
I grinned and gave her one more kiss before pulling away and starting the car again.
Percy:
We sat in awkward silence after Cody left. Emily was leaning into Annabeth's side and I was sitting down on the floor in front of them. Emily had her eyes closed and I could see a single tear roll down her face. I'm glad Annabeth is here. I'm not good with crying girls. Emily took a stuttering breath and slowly opened her eyes.
"Um…Guys I think I'm gonna head home."
Annabeth stood up with her.
"But what about our girls night? You could use it now more than ever…"
Emily shook her head.
"I think I need to be on my own for a while."
Annabeth looked like she wanted to say something so badly but she seemed to be having a battle with herself and decided against it. She merely sighed and nodded. Emily waved goodbye and I stood up.
"Do you need a ride? It's kind of a long walk?"
"I think I could use a walk. But thanks Percy."
I nodded sadly and Annabeth and I watched her leave. When she was gone Annabeth slumped in her piano seat. She groaned.
"Ugh. That was horrible! They can't even be around each other for five minutes before their either fighting or Emily's crying!"
I moved to sit next to her and I rubbed her back. Her face was in her hands and she moved her fingers so one of her dazzling grey greys started to peek out. She stared at me for a minute before she sat up and rubbed her hands over her face and into her hair. When she managed to brush her golden curls to the right side of her head she turned to me fully.
"What should we do?"
I took a minute to think about it. We could go after Emily, but maybe being alone for a little while will help her. We could try and talk some sense into Cody, but he's probably still with Hannah and I don't want to get involved with that. We still needed to think of a song for tomorrow…
"We should try and work on a song. I don't know if we have time to write a new one but maybe we can touch up an old one?"
Annabeth nodded and grabbed her journal. She hesitated for a minute before she gently placed the book between us so we could both see. I gave her an encouraging smile and she started to point out songs. After glancing at a few we decided we needed to pick a type of song.
"Well it can't be a party song, Cody can't play his drums."
"And it can't be a super lovey dovey song cause Emily would be heartbroken."
"And it probably shouldn't be a soul crushing heart break song.."
Annabeth ran a hand through her hair.
"So that leaves us with one option."
I leaned closer to her.
"Which would be?"
She smiled and flipped to a page and pointed at the title.
"A comfort song."
I leaned down and scanned the song. After a minute Annabeth started to flip to the next page, and the next.
"If you don't like that I have other ones!"
I grabbed her frantic moving hands and chuckled at her nervousness.
"Annabeth calm down! I'm sure they're all wonderful. You pick which one you like best. I trust your judgment."
"Really?"
I nodded.
"But I do have a question."
She looked up at my expectedly and I pointed to her journal.
"Why do you have so many comfort songs? I mean there was a lot there…"
Annabeth stared down at the pages and shrugged. She spoke in a quiet voice.
"I guess I've needed comfort….I was hurt in the past and music was there. And since there is only so many comfort songs in the world I decided to make some of my own."
I nodded slowly, trying to comprehend the information. What hurt her so badly that she needed a million comfort songs just to smile again? Annabeth stared absently at the songs and I knew I wouldn't be getting my answer from her. I leaned closer to her, our thighs were touching. I hesitantly put my arm around her waist and her breath hitched and I leaned towards her. I whispered in her ear.
"I hope you never have a need for those. I want to take away any hurt you feel."
I pulled away slightly and grinned.
"Just call me comfort!"
Annabeth:
I thought about Emily as I touched up the song. I changed some of the lyrics and I think it should be okay. I know Percy and I agreed to no romance songs but maybe if romance is combined with comfort it might help Emily. Cody can even have a part in it!
I texted Emily seeing how she was doing and I still haven't gotten a response. Percy was lying on the floor strumming the cords for the song tomorrow. After thinking for a minute I nudged him with my foot.
"Yes Annabeth?"
"Do you have Tanner's number?"
Percy scrolled through his phone and nodded. I gestured for him to give it to me and he handed me his phone. I clicked on Tanner's name and waited. After about three rings he answered.
"Yo Percy! Never thought I'd hear from you again! What's up man?"
"Not Percy Tanner."
"Oh…Uh hey….random girl?"
"Annabeth."
"Right Annabeth Emily mentioned you. What's up?"
"Can you do me a favor?"
"Sure?"
"Great I need you to go to the store."
Emily:
When I came home from Annabeth's Mary, our maid informed me that my Dad won't be home until later tonight. I sighed and thanked her and headed upstairs. I felt utterly exhausted. When I got into my room I pulled off my jacket and changed my yoga pants into sweats. I didn't against a shirt since my grey tank top looked good with the black ankle sweats I was wearing. I left my hair in its ponytail and I walked over to my bed. I sighed peacefully as the soft material of my mattress covered my back side. I reached over to bedside desk and grabbed my stereo remote. I pressed play and soft music filled the air. (I have a remote for my stereo! Seriously comes in handy when I don't want to move!) Soon my eyes drifted shut.
"Emily? Miss McNeil?"
I sat up slowly and rubbed my tired eyes.
"Mary?"
Mary stood by my door with a gentle smile on her face.
"Sorry to wake you Miss McNeil but you have visitors."
I got out of bed and yawned. I moved over to the door and placed my hand on Mary's shoulder.
"Okay thank you. And Mary I told you before! Call me Emily."
She nodded and I gave her a small smile before walking down the stairs. I wonder who's here to see me. My heart beat a little faster of the possibly of Cody standing on the other side of that door. But Mary said visitors, plural, more than one. Maybe he brought Hannah with him? I seriously hope not. I would slam the door in their faces.
I stood in front of the door for a little while, my hand on the doorknob but unmoving. I took a deep breath and turned the knob and opened the door.
"Surprise!"
I laughed and rolled my eyes when I saw Tanner, Percy, and Annabeth standing outside my door. Movies, ice cream and nail polish in their hands. I couldn't stop the disappointed feeling that was creeping up on me. It's wasn't Cody. I opened the door wider for them to come inside. They walked in and stood in front of the stairs.
"What are you guys doing here?"
Annabeth handed the nail polish to Percy and slowly came forward.
"You needed a girl's night…So I brought you one."
I smiled and pointed to Percy and Tanner.
"Well a girl's night with two guys. Same difference."
I laughed and pulled her into a hug. She wrapped her arms around me and I gave her a squeeze before pulling away. I grinned softly and mouthed 'thank you' she nodded and gave me a smile turning to the guys.
"Alrighty guys! Are we ready to go?"
They both nodded and I gestured for them to follow me.
"You're lucky I live in this part of Crestwood! Luckily we had a spare room and my Dad finally let me turn it into a movie room! C'mon!"
I opened the door to my right and Annabeth nodded in approval when my movie room came into view. Nothing to special. Some couches and chairs and a plasma TV. There were some small speakers in the corner but overall my home theater wasn't like some you see in the movies. Percy whistled and moved to sit on one of the couches.
"Wow impressive."
"Thanks! So what movies did you guys bring?"
Percy placed a couple movies on the floor and Tanner pointed to each one as announced them.
"Well since we didn't know what type of movies you liked we raided closets and drawers and pulled together a few! We brought….Toy Story, Thor, and the Notebook."
I grinned over at Annabeth.
"I didn't know you liked the Notebook!"
Annabeth shook her head and pointed at Percy.
"Nope not me."
"Really?"
"….My Mom loves that movie…"
Tanner and I started laughing while Annabeth giggled into her hand. Percy glared playfully and stuck his tongue out. Annabeth, who was still chuckling, looked over at my expectantly.
"So which one?"
I kicked the Notebook aside.
"Not in the mood for that…Sorry Perce."
He shrugged and I picked up Toy Story and Thor.
"Hmmm…I can't decide. I like both of these."
Annabeth sat on the couch next to Percy.
"Why don't we just watch both? It's only seven."
Everyone agreed and I put Thor into the DVD player. I sat on the floor next to Tanner's feet and my mind showed me an image. I was sitting on the floor of Annabeth's music room and Cody was on the couch behind me. His hand brushed by my hair and his finger started to whirl my hair around. I laughed and slapped his hand away as he grinned.
I sighed and looked up at Tanner, who was watching me with curious eyes.
"You okay?"
I shrugged and leaned back until the back of my head hit the couch. Tanner moved over slightly so my head wasn't next to his leg.
"Yeah I'll be fine. I guess I'm a little bummed about what's been happening with Cody."
I looked up at him again and he gave me an awkward side smile.
"I'm sorry Emily. I wish you guys could work things out."
He stopped for a minute before chuckling at a memory.
"What? What is it?"
He leaned down and brushed a stray hair out of my face. I gave him a weird look but he leaned back in his seat.
"I don't know. I guess this is funny on some level."
"How is this funny?"
"Well I mean I never expected Anderson to date someone who wasn't you. I thought you guys were dating already."
I cracked my knuckles and grimaced at the sound they made.
"Well we're not."
"Yea obviously. But I mean in some way it's still funny. It's almost like a movie—"
He placed one hand behind his head and looked up at the ceiling. Out of the corner of my eye I could see the main screen for Thor and Annabeth and Percy talking on the couch. I turned my full attention to Tanner.
"—You know a girl and a boy who've been best friends forever, the girl falls in love with the guy, the guy starts dating someone else cause he doesn't realize his feelings yet and the girl either A, goes and dates some other guy to either make her friend jealous or to take her mind off of him or B, they cut right to the chase and the girl tells the guy how she feels and boom! They're kissing in the rain and all the girls watching are jumping for joy as the credits roll."
I blinked a couple of times before laughing.
"Wow…that was strangely detailed."
He shrugged in a 'what can you do' manner and I rolled my eyes before standing up. I reached over Tanner and grabbed the remote before handing it to him.
"Annabeth and I are going to get some snacks, you can play the movie if you want."
He nodded and I started to make my way over to Percabeth. I mentally grinned at the name. Gosh I love Jordon! I stood in the corner of the room and watched them interact. Annabeth was smiling up at him and he was grinning down at her. His arm was on the back of the couch, barely touching her shoulder but still around her. He whispered something in her ear and she blushed and said something back. She was too quiet for me to hear. I smiled lightly at the sight before making my way over to them.
"Hey guys, sorry to interrupt! But Annabeth can you help me grab some snacks?"
She glanced at Percy before nodded. She followed closely behind as I led her to the kitchen. I opened the cabinet and pulled out a couple bags of popcorn. Annabeth opened one and stuck it in the microwave. While waiting for it to start popping I went to the fridge to grab some sodas. After I grabbed a six pack of coke I turned to see Annabeth staring at me.
"What?"
"You never told me you lived in the upper part of Crestwood."
I placed the sodas on the counter and shrugged.
"Never came up in conversation?"
Annabeth crossed her arms and I sighed.
"I don't know….I guess I just wanted to be sure you were my friend because you liked me for me and not for my money."
Annabeth nodded slowly.
"That makes sense…I'm sorry."
I waved off her apology.
"Don't be. What you guys did tonight proved you're real friends."
Annabeth smiled at me then went to go grab the freshly popped popcorn from the microwave. She placed another bag in and handed me the pooped bag.
"Do you want to put this in a bowl?"
I nodded and went to go grab one when Percy walked in.
"Hey ladies! I was just wondering if it was okay if we started the movie?"
I nodded and poured the popcorn into the bowl and handed it to him.
"I already told Tanner is it. Go ahead. We'll be in there in a minute."
He nodded and looked over at Annabeth. She smiled shyly at him.
"I'll walk you to the door Percy."
I watched amused as Percy and Annabeth slowly walked the short ten steps to the door. Percy stopped in the doorway and grinned down at Annabeth.
"Thanks Wise Girl I don't think I could have made it by myself."
She giggled and smiled.
"Anything for my Seaweed Brain."
He rolled his eyes and leaned down to gently kiss her head. She closed her eyes and smiled. I watched eyes wide as he gave her one last grin before finally leaving. Annabeth watched him leave and sighed as she walked back into the kitchen. She gave me a weird look, since I was staring at her.
"What?"
I didn't say anything. She went over to the microwave and pulled out the other bag of popcorn. She handed it to me and put the last bag in.
"What Emily?
I squealed and she covered her ears.
"Ow! Emily! What's your deal?"
I grabbed her shoulders and shook her.
"Annabeth! He kissed your head!"
Annabeth shrugged my hands of and gave me a strange look.
"Um….I know? What's the big deal?"
I stopped jumping and stared at her.
"Why aren't you excited by it?"
"Because he's done it before?"
"What!? Why didn't you tell me? How many times?"
Annabeth started to stutter and she flushed.
"Um...I-I didn't tell you because I thought it wasn't a big deal? A-And I guess a couple of times?"
I smiled brightly and hugged her.
"Annabeth that's a huge deal! Cody doesn't kiss my head! Percy must like you!"
Annabeth laughed nervously and started to play with her fingers.
"You think so?"
I pulled the last bag of popcorn out and handed it to Annabeth. I grabbed the sodas and nodded.
"I know so."
Annabeth:
I opened my eyes slowly. Everything was fuzzy so I rubbed my eyes until my vision became clear. I yawned, I'm so tired. We we're still in Emily's home theater, the main screen for Toy Story up on the TV. It must be late, we watched Thor and half of Toy Story….Or well I did. I fell asleep about halfway through. Tanner was asleep on the floor and Emily was sleeping in an awkward position on the couch to my right. I could feel a blanket draped across my lap, I was so warm. I smiled lazily and leaned back onto the couch. My eyes widened when I felt human skin instead of the plush material. I looked over to my left and saw a sleeping Percy. Trying not to move so much I tuned my head to look behind me. His arm was draped across my shoulder. Our feet were tangled together on the floor. My breathing started to quicken. Oh gods we were so close together. I tried to move out of his grasp but his arm tightened around me.
"Mmm, Go to sleep Annabeth."
I laughed quietly and leaned back into his arm. I tried to keep about an inch of space between our bodies. I could feel Percy chuckle before he pulled me against his side. I gasped at the contact. He pulled me tighter against him. I gently placed my head in the crook of his neck. I smiled when I felt my body warm up and tingle. Percy nuzzled my hair and I could see him smile before my eyes drifted shut.
(Sorry just wanted to add that in! I couldn't help it!)
Emily:
I threw the blankets off my body and rolled off the couch. I mumbled to myself as I made my way to the door.
"Stupid bladder waking me up at one in the morning…."
I stopped when I saw Percy and Annabeth cuddling on the couch, content smiles on their faces. Gosh that's adorable. I smiled and walked over to the door. I opened it slowly, trying as quietly to slip through the crack I created without waking anyone. When I had the door closed I walked to the bathroom. After doing my business I washed my hands. Since I was now awake I decided to get something to drink. I heard warm milk helps.
I hummed quietly to myself as I walked to the kitchen. I stopped outside the kitchen door, the light was on? I pushed the door open gently and frowned when I saw the back of my Dad's head. He was hunched over typing an email. I couldn't help but peek over his shoulder, I saw my name. I backed up a little.
"Dad?"
He jumped, surprised and closed his laptop. He turned around and flashed me a nervous smile.
"Emily! Sweetheart what are you doing up?"
I walked over to the fridge and grabbed a water bottle.
"I just needed to use the bathroom….Why are you still up?"
He sighed and rubbed his temple before giving me a sad look.
"I've been dealing….with some matters Emily."
I placed my water bottle on the table and sat across from him.
"What matters Dad? I shouldn't have looked…But I saw my name on that email. And you shut it so quickly."
Dad narrowed his eyes.
"Emily you shouldn't intrude on people's private information like that."
"I didn't mean too! I came in for some water and saw you. Dad we tell each other everything….What's going on?"
My Dad shook his head slowly and when his eyes met mine again I saw an unfamiliar twinkle in them.
"We don't tell each other everything honey…"
"What are you talking about? I tell you everything…Remember I made you listen to my rant about Cody and Hannah for thirty minutes yesterday."
He chuckled and I smiled a little.
"I know…Well at least you tell me everything. There's a couple things I haven't told you…"
I leaned across the table and grabbed his hand.
"What is it?"
He squeezed my hand and sighed.
"Your mother….has been contacting me…She wants to see you."
My eyes widened and I bolted out of my seat. I began to furiously pace the kitchen floor.
"No! She can't just abandon us for 15 years and then expect me to just welcome her visit with open arms! We don't need her Dad! I don't need her! Tell her to fuck off!"
My Dad stood up and grabbed my shoulder to stop my pacing. He glared at me.
"Emily Rose McNeil! You shouldn't use such rude language!"
I shrugged his hands off forcefully.
"Don't call me that!"
"Your name?"
"My middle name! We don't use it!"
"It's your mo-"
"I know who's name it is! We don't use it Dad!"
My Dad sighed and pulled me into a gentle hug. I was stiff in his arms at first before his comforting scent calmed me and I relaxed into his embrace. I pressed my face into his shoulder and mumbled against his shirt.
"I don't want to see her Daddy….Never again. She didn't love me enough to stay she doesn't deserve me now…Please Daddy make her stay away."
My Dad gently kissed my head and I clung to him. A few small tears started to slide down my face and he gently rubbed my hair. I hugged him until I could feel my tears rubbing on my face from his shirt. I pulled away from him and chuckled lightly.
"Sorry about your shirt."
He glanced down at it and smiled.
"Aw it's okay. You can just wash it for me."
I rolled my eyes, smiling. I frowned again.
"I'm sorry for yelling Dad…It's just…She can't….I don't…."
He nodded and kissed my forehead.
"I know baby girl…I'll see what I can do."
I nodded. I don't need her. It's been my Dad and I for as long as I can remember. It's better this way. She can stay wherever she is and my Dad and I can stay here. I don't need to see her; she didn't love me enough to stay so she doesn't get to see me now. My Dad has done fine on his own raising me by himself. I smiled to myself as memories flashed through my mind. My Dad playing dress up with me, having small tea parties….putting me on his toes and dancing with me around the living room.
My Dad went to go sit back down but I tugged his hand and pulled him back to me. I hugged him quickly then moved to kiss his cheek. I hugged him tightly.
"I love you SuperDad."
He chuckled at the old nickname.
"I love you too Emily."
I pulled away smiling and grabbed my water bottle. When I was about to leave my Dad cleared his throat.
"Next time I expect a call telling me you have…boys sleeping over."
"Mary knew!"
"Mary knows everything. Doesn't mean she tells me."
I grinned and blew him a kiss.
"Love you Dad!"
I pushed opened the door and left, my Dad chuckling as I left. I smiled to myself as I passed the home theater. What? As much as I love my friends I think I love my bed more right now. When I walked in my room I noticed that Mary made my bed and turned off the stereo for me. I turned the fan on in the corner and laid down on my bed. I blew some hair out of my face and stared up at the ceiling.
How can she just expect to walk in here and ask to see me? Sorry Mom doesn't work that way. Dad will keep his word. She won't get to see me.
I sighed. I wish Cody was here. He'd know what to say…He always knows what to say. I shook my head. It doesn't matter what I want. All Cody cares about is Hannah. The name leaves a bitter taste in my mouth…..My stomach sunk. Even if he's dating Hannah he's still Cody….He's still my Cody. My best friend. These last couple of days have been…hard, not having him around. Even with everything happening I…miss him.
I pulled my covers back and climbed into bed. I checked the light up clock. 1:43 in the morning. Great. I have school tomorrow! And a performance! I closed my eyes tightly and waited for sleep to come. It didn't but that doesn't mean I moved. After laying in the dark for about twenty minutes I heard something clink against my window. I waited for a minute and I heard it again. I slowly got out of bed and glanced out the window. Thanks to our lawn lights I could see Cody crouched down looking at the ground.
What is he doing here? My heart started to beat faster and I could hear my heart beating. I grabbed my robe and slipped it on. I didn't want to go out to see him in just my tank top and sweats! I slowly crept downstairs and out the backdoor. I walked over to him quietly just as he picked up another rock and chucked it up at my window. I bent down and grabbed a small rock and threw it at him.
It smacked him in the chest.
"Ow!"
He turned and saw me with my arms crossed. He rubbed his chest.
"Geez Em you didn't have to throw it that hard. What are you doing out here? Normally the girls open the window and then come down to meet the guy. Not surprise him by chucking rocks at him!"
I raised an eyebrow at his small rant.
"You done?"
His silence answered my question. I sighed suddenly tired.
"What are you doing here Cody?"
I started to rub my forehead, feeling a headache coming on. Cody put his hands in his pockets and walked towards me. I took a small step back and he stopped walking. He sighed and ran a hand over his face.
"Look Em….I'm sorry okay? This week has been weird for us and I guess it wouldn't have been as bad if I just apologized sooner. I should have told you about Hannah and I'm sorry I didn't."
I folded my arms and looked down at the ground.
"Thanks…And I'm sorry I reacted so badly…"
He took a step closer.
"No no it's okay. You had a right to be upset."
"…I'm still sorry.."
Cody nodded and we stood in silence before I chuckled light. Cody grinned over at me.
"What?"
I gestured around.
"Who would of thought my week would be this drama filled! I mean we could be a movie Cody! Tanner even said so."
Cody's blue eyes seemed to darken and his voice became lower.
"You've been hanging around Tanner a lot I've noticed."
"Uh…Well yeah. You've been with Hannah. Percy, Annabeth and Tanner surprised me with a sleepover movie night."
"Oh…"
I took a small step closer to him.
"We…We would have invited you…but I figured after the fight…and Hannah…You might not want to come."
Cody sighed and gently grabbed my hand in his.
"I'm sorry about the fight….And bringing Hannah to practice….And making you cry. I never want to hurt you Em and it seems like that's all I've done this week."
"I'm sorry too…about the fight. And we didn't even get practice time…hopefully tomorrow will go okay."
Cody nodded before he looked up at me.
"She said she would try to be nicer to you…"
I scoffed.
"Right."
"No really Emily. She promised she would play nice."
I didn't say anything and he gave my hand another squeeze.
"Please Emily…Can't you at least try?"
Seeing his pleading face and having my heart yelling at me to say yes, only because it means no more fighting I sighed and agreed. Cody surprised me by pulling me into a tight hug. I hesitantly put my arms around his waist. He nuzzled his face into my hair and I placed my cheek on his shoulder. I closed my eyes tightly, trying to savor the moment.
The moment ended and I waved as Cody's car drove out of sight.
Annabeth:
Percy gave me a thumbs up from the small stage. I sighed with relief and went to sit next to Emily. I leaned back in the booth and she pushed a soda towards me. I smiled at her in thanks and took a couple sips.
"So everything ready?"
I took another sip and glanced at Percy who was tuning my guitar, he's leaning against his leg.
"Yeah it should be. I guess we just have to wait for Cody."
Emily nodded and ate a French fry. She filled me in on her little midnight conversation with Cody. He sat with us today at lunch and Percy and I showed them the song. Emily gave me a look, showing she knew I wrote the song somewhat about her, but Cody liked it so we went with it. He has a small single drum waiting in the corner and Emily agreed to sing along with me. She also has a small tambourine to shake, though it's not needed.
Mr. Evergreen told us that if we brought in customers he would expand the stage so it could fit all of us and Cody's drums. So far the place is mostly full…Only a few seats are open. Percy nodded to me and I excused myself and walked over to him.
"What's up?"
"Guitars are tuned and Cody's in the parking lot. We're ready."
I grinned and walked over to Emily. Seeing my smile she smiled too and stood up. We walked over to the stage, ignoring the excited glanced from the 'crowd' Emily poked me and pointed to the door. Cody was walking in, a red faced Hannah in tow. He rolled his eyes before making eye contact with us. He smiled and walked over to us.
"Hey guys. We ready?"
We nodded and Cody took his place behind the small drum set. I rubbed my fingers together and the nerves started to set in. Percy, Emily and I will be sitting on the edge of the stage. Since we don't have microphones we wanted to be as close as we could to the audience so they could hear us. I watched as Emily and Percy sat down. I gave a small nod to Mr. Evergreen before clearing my throat.
Everyone turned to look at me and I froze momentarily at their stares. I saw Eric in the crowd and gave the smiling ginger a small wave.
"Um…Excuse me?"
Everyone was now staring at me.
"Uh….Welcome to Evergreens! Please enjoy some food while here…."
I slowly sat down in-between Emily and Percy and grabbed my guitar, placing it in my lap.
"We're The Siren's Shadow and this is Wonderwall….Thanks for coming."
Percy nodded and we both started to strum and Emily started to pat her knee. Cody stared to gently tap on the drums.
Annabeth, Emily, Both
"Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do.
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do
Feels the way I do about you now…"
I start to bob my head to the music and share a smile with Percy before looking over at Emily.
"Back beat
The word is on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do
About you now…"
Emily glances behind her to see Cody's expression. He seemed to be thinking…I looked over at Hannah who had her blue eyes zeroed in on Emily.
"And all the roads we have to walk
Are winding
And all the lights that light the way
Are blinding
There are so many things that I would
Like to say to you
But I don't know how,
Don't know how…
Because maybe
(Maybe)
You're gonna be the one who saves me
And after all…
You're my wonderwall."
I looked over to see Mr. Evergreen's daughter clapping lightly, a large smile on her face. Mr. Evergreen has a very small smile on his face but it's still there! Eric is swaying to the music and people in the crowd stopped eating and are watching us.
"Today was gonna be the day
But they'll never throw it back to you.
By now you should've somehow realized
What you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way SHE does about you now…"
Emily glares at me as she starts singing. Cody is giving me a weird look and Percy is biting back a smile. I just look down at my guitar as I strum, though I still feel Emily's glare.
"And all the roads we have to walk
Are winding
And all the lights that lead us there
Are blinding
There are many things that I
Would like to say to you
But I don't know how..
I don't know how…"
"Because maybe
(Maybe)
"You're gonna be the one who
Saves me
(Saves me)
"And after all…
You're my wonderwall
You're my wonderwall
You're my wonderwall…"
A loud applause starts after the last note is played. Some people even stand up and clap. I grin nervously and set my guitar to the side. Emily is already standing and waving at Tanner. Cody is holding up his drums sticks. A hand is stuck in my face and I look up to see Percy smirking down at me. I roll my eyes before taking his hand and being lifted up. I waved sheepishly at the audience before Mr. Evergreen waves his hands to get attention.
"Big thanks to—"
His daughter jumps in the air.
"The Siren's Shadow!"
I giggle at the girl's affection for us. I climb down the stage and go to sit in our booth. Emily slides in across from me and Percy sits next to me. Cody slides in next to Emily. We all grin at each other before we burst. A series of 'that was awesome!' and 'you were great!" were exchanged. We all stopped talking and started to laugh.
You know that moment when everything seems to slow down and you get to take a minute to take a look around? To enjoy what's happening? It's like the universe is giving you the chance to take a mental picture of the situation and have it saved in your memory forever. I smiled as my mental camera clicked.
Memory saved.
I was telling my Grandma yesterday about that. Sometimes when I've hanging out with my brothers or friends time seems to slow down and let my enjoy the moment. I love it :)
So firstly! The song was Wonderwall! Now I kind of cheated...I was listening to Straight No Chaser's cover of it when I was typing it. I love that version so...
So as you guys read I made Cody and Emily make up! Of course Emily is still going to get upset around Hannah but she misses Cody and can't be mad at him forever. Besides she needs him! Of course since Hannah is a pain she's going to cause more problems but what can you do? Now with Emily's Mom...that might seem sudden but that literally happened to my friend. Her Dad just decided one day that he wanted to see her after being gone for 16 years... -_- no.
There wasn't a lot of Percabeth in this chapter. For that I'm sorry but I wanted to fix Cemily (Still love that! thanks BookWhisperer101) I did add that couch scene though...It was cute! They're will be more Percabeth in the future though!
Oh and Tanner and Emily are not going to start dating. Emily thought it was a date but Tanner knows about her thing with Cody and just wants to be a friend to her. Now of course friends flirt and make other friends jealous...if you understand ;)
I have big plans for this story! Big plans! Be sure to update!
