I am SO sorry for the long wait, but rather then waste time with an excuse, I'll just get on with the story.
Chapter: 14 Wizards a Camp Half-Blood.
Part 1: Ron
"So let me get this straight," Ron said, trying to keep his annoyance in check, "You guys are demigods?"
"Yep," Percy replied.
"And the Greek Gods are real?"
"And Roman," Frank pitched in.
"You know what I think, I think either you're mad, or bad liars!" Ron said.
"We're neither!" Annabeth said, and Ron was annoyed at himself when some of his anger went away.
"Right, do you believe these guys?" Ron asked Harry sarcastically.
Harry was looking at the ground, he looked shaken.
"Actually Ron," he said slowly, "I do."
"What?!" Ron exclaimed, shocked.
"Think about it, I've seen things no one else can, except for them. Percy fought three gorgons that shouldn't exist, and now we just helped them slay three furries..."
"Furies" Hermione added kindly.
"Yeah, those, my point is, we ARE wizards, so why is the possibility that the Greek and Roman Gods exist so improbable?"
Ron looked at Hermione for help, but then remembered that she'd "deduced" their identities already. Ron didn't want to believe, or even hear, any of this rubbish. But Harry did have a good point, muggles went about their lives everyday believing magic didn't exist, and the idea of another secret world did intrigue Ron.
"Fine," he said, surprised at how calm he was now. "But tell me something, why are you here?"
Annabeth then explained about how they had recently been through a war with an ancient earth goddess named Gaea. Ron thought this was an odd point to start, it didn't seem to have anything to do with what was happen right now. But Annabeth continued to explain how the two camps, Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter, joined forces, and how Gaea was defeated by a combination of Leo, a mechanical dragon, and a fireball with a git named Octavian strapped to it. Leo then chimed in on how the following explosion killed him.
"You died?!" Harry asked him in a shocked tone.
"Yep." Leo said proudly, "Trust me, you don't now weird until you've been killed by a screaming fireball.
The demigods started laughing, and Ron had to admit, he joined in. The idea of a fireball screaming like a little girl as it flew through the air was quite amusing. Harry and Hermione grinned, showing they to thought the idea was funny.
Annabeth concluded with how the Camp adviser, a centaur named Chiron, had sent them to Hogwarts on a mission to protect Harry from Black.
"Wow," Harry said, "that's an amazing story."
"It is." Ron agreed.
"So you believe us now?" Piper asked.
"I don't see a reason not to, Ron replied, "and I do love a good screaming fireball story."
Everyone laughed, including Harry and Hermione.
"But why'd did this Chiron bloke think Harry needed protection?" Ron asked.
"Dumbledore contacted Chiron," Jason explained, pushing his glasses up. Wait a minute, Ron didn't notice he had glasses.
"He said that he had a feeling something bigger then Black." Jason continued.
"I think he might be right..." Harry suddenly said.
Everyone stared at him.
"What do you mean Harry?'" Hermione asked.
"Well," Harry began, "I've had these dreams..."
Harry started explaining how he'd had two dreams, one with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named talking to a shade of some sort.
"Wait," Percy interrupted, looking grim, " the shade had gold eyes?"
"Yes." Harry confirmed.
"And his voice, was it like metal scraping over rock?"
"That's the best way I can think of to describe him."
"And time seemed to slow down as he looked at you?"
Harry nodded.
"Kronos! Gods-dammit!" Percy hissed, though "Gods-dammit" sounded odd to Ron, "That stupid titan's back. I thought we beat him for good two years ago!"
"We should've known our luck wouldn't last that long Percy." Annabeth said gently.
"So Saturn's back." Hazel sighed, "Yay."
"But there's more," Harry continued, "I knew about this attack before it happened."
He then told them about his dream from the night before, how Hades and Alecto plotted Harry's capture.
"What's Elysium?" Harry asked as he finished.
"The resting place of heroes." Annabeth explained, "Why?"
"Hades mentioned my parents were sent there."
"That's a good thing." Frank said smiling, "That means they died heroes."
"But back onto subject." Percy interrupted again, "We need to be more vigilant. We'll need to..."
"No," Harry said, "I want them to capture me."
Everyone was shocked into silence.
"You want WHAT?!" Jason shouted.
"Maybe I can negotiate with Hades. In return for telling Hades everything I know about Voldemort," Ron and Hermione shuddered, "Then maybe he'll let me see my parents."
"Harry," Hermione began gently, "I understand you want to meet your parents, but that plan is mad!"
"Hermione's right" Percy agreed, "You can't make a deal with Hades Harry."
"How would you know?" Harry asked, obviously getting angry.
"Because I've been cheated by him, and every hero who's tried to make a deal with him has been cheated."
"Exactly," Hermione agreed, "Have you ever heard the story of Orpheus and Eurydice?"
Both Harry and Ron shook their heads.
"The story goes that Orpheus was the best Lyre player in Ancient Greece, he managed to earn the love of a woman named Eurydice with it. When she died, he went into the Underworld and used his music to make a bargain with Hades. If he could escort Eurydice out of the Underworld without looking at Eurydice until they reached the surface. When he reached the surface, he turned and looked at Eurydice, but she was till in the Underworld so she got pulled back in."
"Lovely." Ron said, "So he meant that they both had to be out."
"Yes," Annabeth confirmed, "but he didn't elaborate on that so he left Orpheus to think that just HE had to be out."
Harry didn't seem convinced.
"Well what if YOU took me down there?" he asked.
"Yeah right," Percy chuckled, "He wants me dead and if Hazel goes down there she can't come out, probably the same story for Leo."
"Then Hazel and Leo can stay and cover for us." Harry argued.
Annabeth sighed, "You won't give up on this will you?"
"No I won't" Harry agreed, his voice full of conviction.
"Then we might as well."
"But Annabeth!" Ron shouted, horrified she was going.
"If we can get Harry's plan to work, then Hades will stop sending monsters after him."
"Well you're not going down there without us," Hermione stated, "Right Ron?"
To be honest, the idea of going to meet a god of death terrified Ron more than spiders, but he wasn't going to let Harry face this with just the demigods.
"You've got that right!" Ron agreed, "If Harry goes into the land of the dead then so do we!"
"But there's one problem." A voice said behind them making them all jump.
"How're you going to reach an entrance to the Underworld?" said another.
Ron recognized those voices.
"Oh no." he sighed.
He turned around to see Fred and George grinning evilly at them.
"Hello lads," Fred said in a sing-songy tone.
"And lasses." George added to the girls.
"How'd you..." Annabeth began.
"...Find you?" Fred finished for her.
"Honestly Annabeth," George replied, "Do you honestly think you were the only ones to hear that explosion?"
"We missed the fight, but we arrived for the conversation." Fred summed the story up.
"Just be thankful it was us..."
"...and not Filtch."
They had a point.
What do you two want?" Hermione asked.
"We know you're demigods, and have a plan to sneak Harry into the underworld to talk to Hades." Fred began.
"And we want in." the twins finished together.
"No way." Harry stated, "Too dangerous."
"Alright then," George said, "But if you don't want an easy way out, and Dumbledore to know..."
"Wait!" Jason shouted, "Maybe there's a way to get your help without you going."
Fred and George both looked intrigued.
"Hazel and Leo have to stay here, what if you stayed and help them keep Filtch and the teachers distracted to the fact that we're gone."
"That sounds boring." Fred yawned.
"Wait until you see what I can brew up for trouble." Leo said evilly.
"Like what?" George asked, even more intrigued.
"Like a miniature centaur that can chase Filtch around shooting arrows at him and shouting 'Die mosquito!'"
Fred and George smiled darkly at Leo.
"I like how you think." Fred replied.
"Me too," George agreed.
"So what do you say?" Leo asked
"Deal." the twins said together without hesitation.
"Alright," Annabeth nodded, "how can we sneak Harry out?"
"The Floo network is unwatched here." Fred offered.
"The Flu network?" Percy asked, "You mean we have to get sick?"
"No." Fred chuckled.
"But that might be a good cover for your absence." George said.
"The Floo network is a method of travel using fireplaces." Harry explained.
"If there's a fireplace near an entrance to the underworld, you might be able to use it to get there." Fred continued for Harry.
"The Big House!" Percy, Annabeth, and Jason exclaimed.
"What?" Ron asked.
"There's a fireplace at the Big House." Annabeth explained.
"It's at Camp Half-Blood." Jason continued.
"Which is on Long Island." Annabeth picked up.
"Near Manhattan, were there's a secret entrance to the underworld!" Percy finished. "I also know someone who might be able to help."
"Is the fireplace connected?" George asked, "If it isn't this perfect plan is out the door."
"Does the Floo network allow you to stick your head through to talk, with green fire?" Annabeth asked.
"Yes, why?"
"Because three years ago, I saw a man's head in the fireplace at Camp Half-Blood, it was surrounded by green fire."
"Then it's connected." Fred confirmed.
"Sweet," Percy said, "Then this might work."
"You can use the fireplace in the Gryffindor common room." George said, "We know a way to sneak people from other houses in."
"Brilliant!" Harry exclaimed, "When will we leave?"
"Tomorrow," Percy decided. "I'll let Chiron know he's got some unexpected guests."
Part 2: Harry
The plan was going fine, until the God of the Underworld nearly threw Harry into Tarturus.
But before that everything went smoothly.
They met in the common room the day after Christmas, and whatever Fred and George had done to get the demigods in the other houses into the common room had worked. Frank, Annabeth, and Piper walked in through the portrait hole dressed in muggle clothes. Annabeth was holding a sheet of parchment.
"Neville's password list." she explained.
"And we were able to convince Sir Cadogan that it was Casual Friday for us Americans." Piper added.
"Really?" Harry asked, "He was that gullible.
"Yep." Frank confirmed.
A moment later, Fred and George walked in.
They managed to get the Floo Powder required.
"There's only just enough to get all eight of you to go to and from, so don't waste it." Fred explained.
They bid farewell to their friends and, since the demigods had never used Floo travel, Harry stepped into the fireplace first. He took off his glasses explained how it worked and said as clearly as he could, "Camp Half-Blood." and dropped the Floo powder. The usual sensation of being sucked down a drain followed and he began spinning. Closing his eyes to avoid getting dizzy, he span through the various networks of fireplaces.
The trip took longer than usual, but then again he was traveling from Britain to America. He was beginning to wonder whether he was going over or under the Atlantic Ocean when he the spinning sensation stopped.
"You can open your eyes." a voice said.
Harry opened his eyes and after he put on his glasses found himself inside a fireplace of a large living room. Sitting before him was a man in a wheelchair looking at him. The man looked middle-aged, he had brown hair and a beard, it wasn't as long as Dumbledore's, and a lot more tamed then Hagrid's.
"Nice to meet you." The man said politely. "My name is Chiron."
He didn't look like any centaur Harry had ever seen, but before he could point this out, Percy fell out of the fireplace.
Harry managed to get out of the way before he landed on him, but Percy landed on the floor with a wince-inducing CRASH!
"Ow!" Percy moaned, "Thanks for catching me Harry!"
"Sorry." Harry said as he helped Percy to his feet.
Harry gasped as before his eyes Percy began to change. A weird misty form blew past him and when it completely faded, Percy was taller and looked much older.
"Whoa!" Harry exclaimed.
Percy looked at himself.
"The Mist wore off?" Percy asked.
"Only because you're in the camp," Chiron explained, "once you re-enter the mortal world you'll return to your thirteen year-old form."
"So you used the Mist to cover your age?" Harry asked, "But I'm clearsighted, how were you able to hide your age from me?"
"Hecate, the Goddess of Magic, used a special kind of Mist she developed to mask their age." Chiron said, "It's strong enough to mask anything from even the most clearsighted mortal. But it is so difficult to make, she can only create small amounts at a time."
Before he could continue to explain, Annabeth stumbled out of the fireplace. The demigods all had unique reactions to the Floo travel. Jason, like Percy, fell out of the fireplace, Piper was so dizzy, she kept walking into the walls, and Frank ran to the nearest trash bin and vomited. Hermione and Ron simply walked out.
"Okay, I'm just gonna say it," Frank groaned after he finished vomiting, "Floo travel SUCKS!"
Harry agreed.
Chiron introduced himself to Ron and Hermione before turning to Percy.
"You didn't tell me this entire plan." he said. "Would you mind filling me in?"
Percy explained to the plan, how they were going to take Harry to Hades in the hopes that he'll stop hunting Harry.
"It would be a good plan," Chiron agreed, "If this wasn't Hades we are talking about. And with Hazel having to stay at Hogwarts you've lost one of the few people who may be able to negotiate with him."
"That's why I wanted to talk to Nico." Percy replied.
"Nico? Of course! I keep forgetting he stays here at camp now."
"So do you think our plan will work?" Annabeth asked.
"Perhaps, but you should come up with a back-up plan, just in case. I'll go let Argus know to prepare a vehicle for you."
"Okay," Percy replied "we'll go get Nico."
"Meet me on Half-Blood Hill when you've collected him."
They all got up and walked out of the mansion.
"Wow!" Hermione sighed with admiration.
"Bloody Hell..." Ron agreed.
Harry just stared.
Laying out before them was a camp of unbelievable beauty. A lake glittered in the morning sun, an omega of cabins laid at the center. A bunch of activities were scattered around the camp. Some kids were playing Volley Ball, others were canoeing on the lake, and some were even climbing up a rock wall with actual lava. Despite it being the day after Christmas there was no snow.
Harry was a bit jealous.
"Welcome to Camp Half-Blood." Percy said.
Harry thought the Camp was impressive at a distance; he was absolutely in awe when he was in the camp. The cabins were arranged by what the god whose children lived within. While Harry didn't know many of the Greek Gods, Hermione made it easier by guessing them all.
"Athena," she said as they passed by a gray building that reminded Harry of a library, "Hera," as they passed by a cabin with peacock motifs on it.
"Whose Nico?" Harry asked Percy to get away from Hermione for the moment.
"The son of Hades." Percy replied, "He's a friend of mine."
"SoTHAT'S why you think he can help."
"Yeah," Percy agreed, but he seemed I bit uncomfortable.
"What's wrong?"
"Well, Nico's… how should I say this? He liked me."
"Friends usually…' Then it dawned on Harry, "Oh, you mean he LIKED you."
"Yeah, I don't judge, what he likes is his business, but how do you react to that?"
"I don't know, does he still like you?"
"He said he's over me," Percy blinked, "wow, that is a weird sentence."
Before they could finish their conversation, they arrived at a cabin. It reminded Harry of a place a vampire would live at. It had the look of a crypt, black with skull decorations.
"Hades." Harry, Ron, and Hermione said together.
"Yep." Percy said.
Annabeth walked up to the door and knocked. No one answered.
"Looks like nobody's home." Piper said as she peeked in through a window.
"PERCY, ANNABETH!" A voice shouted.
A guy with blond hair in an orange T-shirt ran up.
"Hey Will," Percy greeted him, "Do you know where Nico is."
"Yeah he's at the sparring arena," Will answered, "Why?"
"We need his help with something." Annabeth replied.
"Ah okay, well like I said he's at the sparring arena." Will looked at Harry, Ron, and, Hermione suspiciously.
They walked away as Will headed off somewhere.
"Who was he?" Ron asked.
"Will Solace, son of Apollo." Annabeth explained.
"Is he a friend of Nico?" Harry asked.
"Yeah," Jason replied, "Well… there's a rumor going around camp that they're more then friends."
Harry got the gist.
They walked to what was obviously the sword arena; practice dummies surrounded the area, most, oddly enough, looked chewed up. The approached a kid wearing black clothes sitting on the ground scratching the ears of one of the biggest dogs Harry had ever seen. It looked like a mastiff, but mastiffs weren't the size of Hagrid's hut. Sure Fluffy, Hagrid's three headed demon dog, was bigger, but not by much. At least this one only had one head.
The second the dog saw Percy it sprang up.
"ROOOF!" It barked before it tackled him.
Harry was about to grab his wand, but then he saw the dog's tail was wagging like it was VERY happy.
"Ow, yes, hi girl!" Percy's voice called from underneath about a ton of fur.
They finally managed to get the dog off of Percy.
"Guy's this is Mrs. O'Leary, my dog."
"Your dog?!" Ron gasped.
"Well Hellhound to be exact."
"And she was ticked when you left." the bloke who had been petting Mrs. O'Leary said.
Harry assumed this was Nico.
He was about fifteen, wearing faded black jeans, an aviator jacket, an orange T-shirt like the one Will was wearing, a silver skull shaped ring, a leather necklace with a clay bead on it, and a pair of black boots. He had a black sword at his side.
"Hey guys." He said, "Hazel not with you guys?"
"No, sorry, she had to stay behind."
Mrs. O'Leary brought a training dummy to Percy.
Percy picked it up and threw it.
"Get the Greek!" he said.
Mrs. O'Leary barked and chased after the dummy, her tail wagging excitedly.
"So what's up?" Nico asked, "Since A. not all of you are here, and B. you brought them here," he gestured at Harry, Ron, and Hermione, "I'm guessing you didn't just drop by to say 'hi'."
"We need your help." Annabeth said. She explained their plan.
Nico looked at Harry, "My father won't be easy to make a deal with," he warned, "He likes tricking people into rotten deals; he may have sent you the vision on purpose."
"I understand that." Harry replied, "But this may be the only chance I have to…" he was about to say meet my parents, but he decided it wouldn't help him much. "…to stop monsters from hunting me."
Nico looked at Percy and Annabeth, "Do guys really think this plan will work?" he asked them.
"Probably not." Percy answered.
"But since when have our plans worked?" Annabeth shot back.
Nico shrugged, "Good point."
That sounded reassuring.
Nico stood up.
"Next stop: the Underworld." He said.
When they reached the top of Half-Blood Hill Chiron was a centaur. Well, he was a centaur before, but now he looked like it. From the waist up he was still the man Harry had met minutes before, but from the waist down he was a white stallion. At the bottom of the hill was a limousine.
"You guys have a limo?" Harry gasped.
"We do?" Percy asked, looking confused, then he saw the vehicle, "We do! Since when did Camp Half-Blood have a limo?"
Chiron smiled shyly, "Well we had some money Camp Jupiter gave us for repairs left over." He muttered, "We decided we should have a nice vehicle for larger quests." They all walked down the hill, The Chauffer was a blonde man with blue eyes… all over his face.
"Um," Harry started, "that bloke has a lot of eyes."
"That's Argus," Annabeth explained, "He has a hundred eyes all over his body."
Argus opened the passenger door for the wizards and demigods, an eye on the palm of his hand winked at Harry. Harry tried to hide a shudder, that was incredibly creepy. The inside of the limo was even nicer then the outside, with a miniature refrigerator, leather seats, small televisions, and a sword sharpener (which Harry thought was odd, but Chiron HAD said this was for larger demigod quests.)
"Argus will drive you to Central Park." Chiron said, "You'll have to find the entrance on your own." The bid their farewells to Chiron and as they began to drive away, harry stole one more glance at Half-Blood Hill, He let the fact that it was real sink in completely. He wasn't going mad, the Greek Myths were real.
Again I am So sorry for how long this took. My computer broke, then I got MASSIVE Writer's Block, but I'll try to write whenever I get on a computer.
