Avalon River's POV
"Avalon, Charlotte is at the door." My mom yelled up the staircase.
What was Charlotte doing here? I thought she practically hated me for accusing her boyfriend of cheating. I felt bad about the fight we had but it's not like I had apologized to Charlotte, none of us had, and we still hadn't changed our minds about Jackson.
"Avalon Jade Rivers did you hear me?!"
"Jesus Christ I'm coming!" I shouted back.
I quickly sprung off my bed and ran down the stairs. I shot my mom a glare from where she stood getting ready to go out on a date night with my dad.
"Hey." I greeted Charlotte softly, as I walked out the front door and shut it behind me.
Charlotte's eyes were red and glassy and her face was extremely blotchy. It was almost like the roles had been reversed, considering I had been the one that had shown up on her porch probably looking like this earlier this morning.
"Avalon…I…I…" Charlotte started then burst into tears. "I'm so sorry." She managed to choke out through her tears.
I quickly enveloped her in a hug and she returned it clinging onto to me and crying even harder.
"What happened?" I asked gently.
"You guys were right about Jackson." Charlotte cried. "He didn't love me, he was cheating on me the whole time."
"What changed your mind?" I asked.
"I went to his house and I saw him kissing another girl. He said that he loved her Avalon." Charlotte sobbed.
"God, Charlotte I'm so sorry." I apologized sincerely. I felt absolutely awful, no one should have to go through something like that.
"I'm sorry I yelled at you this morning." Charlotte said, rubbing her eyes. "I just didn't want to believe that he would cheat on me, but now I understand you guys were just trying to do what was best for me."
"It's ok." I smiled. "I wouldn't have believed me either.
Charlotte smiled, her entire face lighting up. She must have thought I wouldn't forgive her. "Well I've got to go. I promised I would take Phoebe out for ice-cream." She waved and started to walk away.
"Charlotte?" I called out.
Charlotte turned around using her hand to shield her eyes from the sun. "Yeah?"
"I truly am sorry about Jackson."
Charlotte smiled sadly. "Thanks."
I turned around and walked back into the house.
"Ok your father and I will be back in a few hours." My mom said as soon as I got inside. She was rushing around frantically trying to make things perfect before she left. "Aiden is at a friend's house. Zoey is upstairs and Sophia and her boyfriend are in her room."
I made a face at my mom. "You're leaving them in there. Alone."
"Yes." My mom said in a superior tone. "Unlike you we can trust your sister not to do anything stupid."
I scoffed. "What do you think they're doing in there? Playing checkers?"
My mom glared at me.
"Hanna are you ready to go? We were supposed to leave half an hour ago." My dad stated, walking into the room.
"Daddy can I have a few friends over while you're out." I batted my eyelashes and hugged his side.
My dad kissed my forehead. "Nice try, but no. No parties while we're gone."
I scowled at my parents. "So everyone else gets to have fun except for me."
"Pretty much." My dad said, rushing out of the house to avoid the string of insults that would have soon come out of my mouth.
"Be nice to Sophia." My mom said, walking towards the door. I rolled my eyes. I'll be nice to Sophia as soon as she's nice to me, and I think Voldemort was nicer than her. "Don't burn the house down." My mom added, as she slammed the door behind her.
"No promises." I answered, even though I knew she couldn't hear me.
I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a tub of ice-cream from the freezer. As I attempted to jab a spoon into the frozen block of chocolate ice-cream, I dialled Scarlett's number.
On the third ring Scarlett picked up the phone. "Hello?" Scarlett voice chimed cheerily down the line.
"Hey girly! What's up?" I grinned in satisfaction as I managed to jam the spoon into the ice-cream.
"Oh hey Av." Scarlett replied. I could barely hear her over the blaring music in the background.
"Hey where are you?" I asked.
"What do you mean, I'm right here." Scarlett said in confusion.
"I mean I can hardly hear you over the sound of the music in the background." I clarified.
"Oh that's just the radio. I'm using it to block out the sound of my parents making out downstairs. Honestly I'm pretty sure they think they're being quiet." Scarlett complained.
I chuckled. "Gross. Well I'm not surprised, they did have five kids after all."
"Ugh gross." Scarlett whined. "Avalon Rivers I did not need that image in my mind." I chuckled. "Anyway I'm glad they're finally having some alone time for once. You know getting a chance to be happy." Scarlett continued. "With all this stuff going down with Ebony, it's really hard for them."
"How is Ebony?" I asked, noticing the sudden serious change in topic.
"She's fine." Scarlett said, I could hear the uncertainness in her voice. "She hasn't been in hospital for a while but…I mean…" She broke off her voice cracking slightly. "She's fine." Scarlett repeated, I could hear her trying to compose herself.
I decided it was definitely time for a change in topic.
"Hey were you last night?" I enquired curiously.
"What do you mean?" Scarlett asked, her voice sounded lighter and I could tell she was grateful for the change of topic.
"I tried calling you like three times and you didn't pick up." I explained.
"Oh." Scarlett said, realisation filled her voice. "I was ice-skating." She finished hesitantly.
"Ice-skating?" I asked sceptically.
"Yep." Scarlett said her voice an octave higher. She always did this when she wasn't telling the entire truth, I knew if I was there she would be biting her lip too.
"Were you by yourself?" I questioned, shoving a spoonful of ice-cream in my mouth.
"No." She replied.
"Well who were you with?" I asked.
"It doesn't matter. It's not like it was a date or anything."
"Wait it was a guy!" I exclaimed excitedly.
"No! Well yes. Ugh never mind." Scarlett grumbled.
"Wow Scarlett Fitz you sure can keep a secret." I said playfully.
"Shut up. Avalon I have to go." Scarlett said.
"Fine. Tell your boyfriend I say hi." I said teasingly.
"Ha ha." Scarlett said sarcastically. Scarlett ended the call and laughed pulling the phone away from my ear and setting it on the table. I would have to find out more about Scarlett's mystery boyfriend. I pulled myself up so I was sitting cross-legged on the countertop.
"Hey Avalon." A deep voice said. Sophia's boyfriend walked across the kitchen and pulled open the door to the fridge. He started rummaging around for a soda.
"Oh hey Griffin." I replied. Griffin Justice. Sophia's ever so dreamy boyfriend. 17 years old, black hair, beautiful brown eyes and an eight pack. He was basically the cause of 80% of the female population of Rosewoods heartbreak. He was a top class douchebag and he was dating my sister who was literally the real life version of Regina George. It was a match made in heaven, scratch that, it was a match made in hell.
"Shouldn't you be with Sophia?" I asked, scraping the sides of the now empty ice-cream carton.
"Nah. She's on the phone with her friend." Griffin said, opening the can of the drink he had pulled out of the fridge and taking a swig.
"Great." I drawled, and placed the carton on the countertop. I wasn't even going to act interested. I swung my legs over the side of the countertop and landed on the ground.
I had just started to walk away when Griffins hand pulled me back so I was facing him. "Sophia's going to be on the phone for at least another twenty minutes. What do you say you and me have a little fun in the meantime?"
I gaped at him. Was he serious? "I don't think that's a good idea." I answered, pulling myself out of his grasp.
"Why not?" Griffin smirked. "You've practically screwed half the guys in school. One more is not going to hurt."
I had to admit Griffins comment stung a little but I wasn't going to let him know that. "You're dating Sophia."
"And?" Griffin said, rubbing his hand up and down my arm. "You hate your sister."
I slapped his hand away. "Sophia may be the biggest bitch to ever walk the earth, but she's still my sister and I would never do that to her."
Griffin stepped forward so his arms were trapping me against the counter. He leaned forward and started to leave a trail of hot slobbery kisses on my neck. I shuddered and swung my fist into his gut. Griffin jerked away just enough so I could walk past him.
"Where do you think you're going?" Griffin asked angrily.
"I'm going to tell Sophia what an asshole you are." I said.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Griffin announced.
I stopped dead in my tracks. "And why not?"
"I don't think you would want to go to jail for setting fire to Jackson Cole's car." Griffin said wickedly.
I recoiled almost as if Griffin had slapped me. How did he know? He couldn't possibly know. I turned around slowly. "I don't know what you're talking about." I said playing dumb. But I had flinched, Griffin had saw me flinch, he knew now that he had something on me.
"Come on Avalon let's not play dumb. You and I both know what you did." Griffin said walking leisurely towards me.
"What do you want?" I asked, trying to swallow the lump in my throat.
"What do I want?" Griffin mused. "What I want to for you to forget what happened here tonight. Sophia must never know."
"I won't tell anyone." I said softly.
"Good." Griffin murmured. He moved so he was standing directly in front of me, he took a lock of my hair between his fingers and twirled it around. "Remember it's our little secret."
Suddenly the bang of a door slamming was heard and footsteps sounded towards the kitchen. Griffin quickly moved away from me and leaned against the fridge. Sophia stuck her head around the door. She smiled when she saw Griffin. "Oh there you are, I was wondering where you went."
"Just getting a soda." Griffin replied, grabbing the soda he had left on the counter.
Sophia grabbed Griffins hand and started to drag him away. Just before Griffins head disappeared around the corner he held his finger up to his lips, and then his face disappeared from my line of vision. Our little secret. I trembled. A must have tipped Griffin in on what I had done. Typical A getting someone to do their dirty work while they just sat back and watched the scene unfold before them.
My phone buzzed and I reluctantly opened the message.
Griffin may keep quiet but how are you going to shut me up?
Kisses,

I dropped my phone and ran in the direction of my room. I couldn't deal with this anymore. I jumped the stairs two at a time and swung the door to my room open.
I stopped as soon as I entered my room and stood frozen in place.
Covering every perimeter of my bedroom were poster sized pictures. There were ones of me changing my grades, setting fire to Jackson's car and Griffin kissing me. All the bad things I had done were pasted on the walls. My eyes scanned the walls and I gasped when my gaze flickered to my mirror. Written in my lipstick across the mirror was a message.
Someone's been a naughty girl
