chapter 14
Kate woke up sometime around midnight. She looked outside, and it was completely black. Kate heard a noise outside, and she peered into the darkness, trying to spot what she heard. Her eye's quickly adjusted to the darkness, but she couldn't find anything. Then she heard it again, the crunching of leave's.
"Humphrey" She whispered gently shaking him.
"What is it?" Humphrey groaned.
"I heard something outside" Kate said.
"It was nothing" Humphrey said.
"I heard something" Kate pleaded.
Humphrey opened his eye's and looked up at Kate. She had a scarred look on her face, and her eye's pleaded for him to comfort her. Humphrey sat up next to her, and place a paw on her back.
"It was probably just a rabbit or something" Humphrey said.
"What if it was a bear" Kate asked.
"Then all of us together can kill it" Humphrey said.
"You think so?" Kate asked.
"Yeah, now that's get to sleep" Humphrey said.
Kate and Humphrey laid down, and Kate scooted closer to him. Humphrey thought about doing something, but wasn't sure. 'come on, why are you scarred, you can do something as simple as this, especially considering all the stuff they have already done' Humphrey thought. Humphrey put his arm around Kate's body, and left it there. Kate didn't pull away, she scooted even closer. Humphrey smiled and fell asleep.
MORNING
Another howl rose into the air, barely reaching Humphrey's ear's. He jumped up, and checked who else was awake. Kate was right by his side, but every one else was struggeling to their paw's.
"Come on guy's. we got to get the good part of the carribou" Humphrey said.
He got a responce of a bunch of groan's. He looked at Kate, who shrugged, and they turned around, and left the den. They walked all the way to the feeding ground's, and again, they were the first one's there. There was a huge carribou in the middle of the other two. Humphrey and Kate both headed for that one.
"Again?" Winston asked.
"Yep. we want the good part of the carribou" Kate said.
Humphrey waited for Kate to take the first bite. When she did, he also began to eat. A couple of other wolve's from other group's came into the clearing, waiting to dig their teeth into their meal. Garth was one of them. He came up, and sat next to Kate and Humphrey.
"Are the other's coming?" Kate asked.
"Yeah, they're on their way. They were walking too slow, so i decided to leave them behind" Garth said.
"They're just lazy" Humphrey said.
Eve came over to them, and sat next to Humphrey. Humphrey froze when she did this. Humphrey was terrified, but Eve wasn't even trying to be. After a couple of minute's He relaxed, and continued to eat. after thirty minute's all the alpha's were finished eating their breakfast, and eagerly waiting for Winston to say what they were doing next.
"Today, we are practising fighting" Winston said.
"Pick your partner's" Eve said.
"I got you" Kate said pushing Humphrey.
Humphrey smiled at Kate, and they lined up, across from eachother. Winston watched them as they started. Kate knocked Humphrey on his back, and jumped on him. Winston smiled as he watched his daughter win. Humphrey used her momentum against her, and flipped her over. He quickly pinned her, and pronounced himself as the winner. Winston's smile faded, and he growled.
"Humphrey, run ten lap's, i have to work with Kate" Winston said.
Humphrey groaned and began to run around the clearing. Winston continually showed Kate new move's, and made sure she got them down. Humphrey finished his last lap, and fell on the ground, panting.
"Do five more" Winston said.
Humphrey struggled up, and started to run again. On his fourth lap, he stopped and puked in a bush.
"Keep going" Winston yelled "You only have one more".
"Dad, please stop" Kate begged.
"Hush, or you'll be running too" Winston said.
Humphrey made it back to them, but fell again. Winston told him to get up, and he tried, but couldn't. He tried his hardest to get up, but his leg's would give out, and he would fall. Winston kept yelling for him to get up, but he couldn't. Finally Eve stepped in.
"I'll take care of this" Eve said.
Eve sat next to Humphrey, who now, had his Head hidden under his paw's. Eve nudged his side, and he rolled over on his side.
"How do you feel?" Eve asked.
"Horrible" Humphrey responded.
"Come on, You can sit out for a while" Eve said.
"I can't get up" Humphrey informed.
Eve picked him up, and pulled him up on her back. She made her way toward's the shade of the tree's to set down Humphrey. Humphrey felt very nervouse, being carried by the most deadly wolf in Jasper.
"Your heavy" Eve said.
"Sorry" Humphrey said.
Eve set him down next to a pine tree, and laid down next to him. Humphrey was wondering what was wrong with her. She has been acting very differant toward's Humphrey ever since the day she walked in on them.
"Don't worry. i'll train you and Kate for the rest of alpha school" Eve said.
"Why does he hate me so much?" Humphrey asked.
"He doesn't, but he really love's Kate" Eve said.
"Me too" Humphrey said.
"He's worried that you'll hurt Kate. That's why he was so angry when he saw you beat her" Eve said.
"I would never hurt Kate" Humphrey said.
"I know. i like you" Eve said.
Humphrey was surprised to hear this. He thought that Eve hated him. He was glad to know that atleast one of Kate's parent's liked him. Winston was the pack leader though, and Humphrey was sure he was going to make his life hell. Maybe Eve would protect him though.
"I'm ready to go back" Humphrey said.
"Okay. let's go" Eve said.
Humphrey and Eve walked back to Kate, who was still being trained by Winston. Eve sat next to Winston and Kate.
"You can go take care of every one else, i'll take care of these two" Eve said.
Winston reluctantly walked away to another group to help them. Kate licked Humphrey's face as a 'welcome back'. Eve faced them after watching Winston leave.
"Let's see what you can do" Eve said.
Kate quickly and easily swiped his feet from under him. She pounced on him, and held him down. Kate posed on top of him, as if she just made a kill, and was bragging.
"Come on Humphrey. don't you remember the first rule in fighting?" Eve asked.
"Yeah. i see i'll have to start trying" Humphrey said.
"Bring it on" Kate said.
Humphrey and Kate lined up again. this time Kate charged him, planning on over turning him. Humphrey went underneath her, and flipped her behind him. Kate quickly got up before he could pin her. This time Humphrey charged and rammed his shoulder into her's, knocking her on her side. Humphrey placed a paw on her shoulder and pushed down to make sure she couldn't get up. Kate whimpered in pain from the preasure of his arm. Humphrey took his paw off her shoulder, and leaned down next to her. Kate quickly rolled over and pinned him.
"Hey, you cheater" Humphrey said.
Eve smiled at her daughter's little trick that she pulled.
"I can't believe you fell for that" Kate said.
"Your a good faker" Humphrey said.
They continued to practise their fighting, and learned more moves. After a long five hour's of training, all the group's went back to their den's.
"We should find every one elses den's. it will probably be usefull when we get into compatision" Kate said.
"Compatision?" Humphrey asked.
"Yeah, my dad said that later in alpha school, the team's will compete against eachother" Kate explained.
"We barely even know our territory" Garth said.
"Yeah, we should check out more of our territory" Jay said.
"You guy's go ahead, me and Humphrey will go find their dens's" Kate said.
When they split up, Humphrey thought that Kate was trying to get them alone again, so that they could mess around, but she didn't do, or say anything.
"Are you okay?" Humphrey asked.
"Hanging on" Kate responded.
"What's wrong?" Humphrey asked.
"Nothing" Kate said.
"Is it something to do with me" Humphrey asked.
"I... Yes" Kate said.
"I'm sorry" Humphrey said.
"Cheer up" Kate said as she pounced on him.
She pinned him, and looked down at him. She started to tickle his stomache, but he couldn't get her off of him. He was beyond laughing, and began to whimper.
"Say uncle" Kate ordered.
"Uncle" Humphrey said.
Kate stopped, and stood over him. She saw the bruises on his stomache, and chest.
"Did i hurt little Humphrey" Kate teased.
"Yeah, will you kiss it" Humphrey joked.
Kate nodded and licked at his bruises. Humphrey was enjoying this, a little too much. He felt his dick poke out of it's sheath. He pushed Kate away, and ran off. Kate, completely confused, ran after him. Once she got close enough, she tackled him. When she rolled him over, she could see his dick poking out of his sheath. She figured that was why he ran away.
"Sorry, i couldn't controll myself" Humphrey apologized.
"You said you didn't want to have sex" Kate said.
"I don't" Humphrey said.
"Yeah you do" Kate said.
"No, it has a mind of it's own" Humphrey said.
Kate laughed at what he said. She then lowered herself to Humphrey.
"Your just teasing me" Kate growled.
"What, no i'm not" Humphrey defended.
"Your relly tempting me" Kate said.
"I'm sorry" Humphrey said.
"We got a while, we can do it" Kate whispered.
"Okay" Humphrey said.
EVE AND WINSTON
Eve and Winston sat in the field. They were making sure that everyone left the area, and back to their den's.
"Why do you do that to Humphrey" Eve asked.
"What?" Winston asked.
"Your mean to him" Eve said.
"No i'm not" Winston said.
"I know you don't like him, but i do. you need to start being nice to him, cause chances are, he's going to married to our daughter" Eve said.
"They're pup's. their relationship isn't going to last" Winston said.
"Want to bet?" Eve asked.
KATE AND HUMPHREY
Kate and Humphrey just finished their session, but were still tied. Humphrey was laying on his back with Kate laying on top of him.
"We really need to stop doing this for a while" Humphrey said.
"Why, don't you like it?" Kate asked.
"Yeah, but it feel's weird doing this so much" Humphrey said.
"Your being weird" Kate corrected.
"I don't think we should do this again until the end of alpha school" Humphrey said.
"Okay, i can do that" Kate said.
Kate pulled off of Humphrey when they untied, and she pulled him up off the ground. She tugged him toward's the den, and motioned for him to fallow.
"Are we going to wash up?" Humphrey asked.
"Later, too tired" Kate said.
