Ultimecia walked along Dream's End with a proud look on her face. The giant sword was behind her. She then stopped and chuckled.
"So you've made your decision?" She asked as she looked to the top of the sword. Atop stood Kuja, dangling his legs over the edge. He had a disappointed look on his face.
"Yes, I'm tired of Shinryu making me stay behind while the rest of you go out and have fun. Judging from the proud look on your pretty face, I assume Shinryu decided to send you to fight the Warriors of Harmony this time?" Ultimecia smirked and folded her arms.
"Aww, what's wrong, Darling? Is that jealousy I hear in your voice?"
"I am not jealous!" Kuja insisted as he clinched his fist and glared down at her. Ultimecia raised an eyebrow. Kuja grumbled and turned away.
"Alright, maybe a little. But can you blame me? I deserve my chance in the spotlight!"
"Who Shinryu chooses to fight those Warriors is not up to us, Kuja. That is only for the god to decide. Maybe you should prove to him that you're ready to fight? Show him your power?"
"...Wait a minute. That's a splendid idea. And the only way for me to prove that," he turned to look at Ultimecia, "Is to beat you and take your place in fighting those Warriors." Ultimecia frowned.
"Don't mess with the time on Shinryu's decisions, Kuja," she gave him a delightful smirk. "It can be most deliciously dangerous for you. You could anger the god, and I don't want to be seen with you when Shinryu vents his anger on you."
"Don't toy with me, Ultimecia! I'll decided my own fate with Shinryu. Besides, if I end up defeating those Warriors Shinryu will be most pleased with me." He opened his clinched hands and began to summon some glowing orbs. "So if you don't mind; I suggest you prepare yourself."
"Kuja, Kuja, Kuja," Ultimecia sighed and shook her head, "I don't know what it is that makes you an idiot. No matter, I'll show you what it means to mess with time!"
Ultimecia disappeared and feathers flew as she vanished. Kuja grinned his teeth and glanced around, waiting for Ulimecia to appear. He caught a glimpse of a crystal spinning towards him, and destroyed it with his orbs. Ultimecia laughed and she stabbed Kuja with her crystal-like arrow, making Kuja lose his balance and went soaring through the air. However, in desperation to upright himself Kuja didn't pay attention to Ultimecia striking another crystal arrow at him and again went crashing into the ground. He growled as he wiped away the blood that began to drip from the sides of his mouth.
"I'll show you a thing or two!" he yelled as he stood up and waited before she came closer, then he summoned Flare Star. Ultimecia gasped and tried to avoid his attack, but she was caught by one of his fire balls and was dragged into the explosion. Ultimecia screeched as her skin began to burn, but the fire quickly extinguished.
That made Ultimecia angry and she summoned up her own power into a ball. When Kuja came back for another attack, Ultimecia shot the ball at the area of Kuja's landing and it exploded. Ultimecia thought that was the end of Kuja and began to laugh. But when the smoke cleared Kuja dashed out and grabbed Ultimecia by the throat. Ultimecia was surprised and she could only glare as Kuja smiled in triumphed over her.
"At last, I've got you. Now that I've defeated you, I can play my lovely melody with the Warriors of Cosmos," he began to laugh, but then Ultimecia smirked.
"You think that's the end? Fool!" An alchemical circle appeared around them and Kuja jumped back, releasing Ultimecia. The circle followed him, however! Kuja tried avoiding the attack but he was caught into it and it exploded. Like a stabbing pain, it shot a bolt at Kuja as it disappeared. Kuja screamed out in pain and he fell to the ground, defeated.
Ultimecia laughed as she stood over him.
"I told you, Kuja. It was futile to mess with time. Maybe next time you should be a good monkey and listen to Shinryu's orders." Ultimecia walked away, chuckling to herself. She disappeared, leaving a few fallen feathers behind. Kuja pushed himself up and clinched his fists.
"Why couldn't I beat her?! I don't understand. Shinryu gave me a new charge of power in the beginning. Why couldn't I go?!"
"Kuja?" Kuja bit his lower lip. It was Shinryu, and the dragon god didn't sound pleased. He was speaking to Kuja through telepathy. "I told you, it's not yet time for you to fight."
"Why must you make me wait?! I can take on those Warriors on if you only gave me a chance!" he screamed.
"Do you honestly think you can take on those Warriors alone? You couldn't even beat Ultimecia, what makes you think you can defeat those Warriors? I understand your eagerness, but if you attack another one of your comrades I assure you that you'll regret it!" Shinryu told him, sounding a bit angered by Kuja's impatience. Kuja rolled his eyes.
"Chaos never cared if I beat up a fellow member. He let all of us do what we wished," he mumbled. He heard the god's angry growl of disapproval and it made Kuja jump a little.
"You defy me, Kuja?! You'll have plenty of Warriors to destroy when this war is over. Then you can take out your anger on the other members. This is your only warning, Kuja. If I find out that you've gone against my rules again, I'll have no choice but to destroy you where you stand. Is that clear?"
"Yes, Yes. Anything for you, Shinryu," Kuja said as he stood up and took a 'respectful' bow.
"Good," Shinryu growled in a low voice, "Be sure to remember it." His voice faded and Kuja frowned. He clinched his fists.
"I'll make sure that witch pays for mocking my power. Once this war is over, they all will pay!"
