Chapter 14: A Heart Without a Face

"You was happy with her."

Shun wanted to go back in time and stop Alice from seeing what was in front of her face. Alice stared down at the picture in her hand of Shun and Fabia. Days before the actual wedding, Fabia and Shun had taken some pictures for a wedding album.

"You two got married?" Alice asked. She was more upset that ever. Her heart was throbbing with pain after seeing the picture of her husband look so happy, relaxed, and definitely in love.

"No, we never got married." Shun replied, looking down upsettingly.

"She still has feeling for you, especially since she kept this picture for so long."

"I wish you hadn't seen that picture." He snatched the picture with frame and threw it on the floor, shattering it into pieces. Fabia had secretly kept the photo, and she purposely took it out for Alice to see.

"I now know why you're so cold with me. You miss her..."

"No, I don't have any feelings toward Fabia except hatred." He walked toward Alice and brought her closer, scared and afraid of losing her.

"Let me go, Shun. I don't need your pity." Alice snapped, wiping the tears from her eyes.

"Alice, it's not pity."

Alice pushed Shun out of the way and ran toward the door. She was tired from all this, for her heart broke into pieces. But now she understood more about Shun's past. She ran down the green grass, cold drops of water hitting her skin and soaking her hair and dress.

"Alice, wait!." Shun called as he ran toward her.

"Please, leave me alone."

"I won't. I can't let you go, no matter how hard I try."

"But you found Fabia, the only girl that can make you happy."

"Please don't go, Alice. Please don't. I'm begging you."

For once time in her life, Alice could finally see and read Shun's emotions. "Shun, don't. We're only hurting each other even more."

"I don't want Fabia. I want only you. I don't care about what happens with Fabia, whether or not she comes back. I need you in my life, and I don't want to change that."

"Shun, no matter how much I tried to get away, I just can't."

It was during this time that she pressed herself closer to Shun, who wrapped his arms around her in return. Alice understood that he was carrying a burden from his past. Fabia was the witch who had done so much damage to Shun. He wanted to start over again, but he first needed to release his past and hope that Alice would understand.

"Let's go home." Alice suggested, giving the black-haired guy a kiss on the cheek. Shun escorted her back to the car and drove home. Tonight would be a long night full of secrets.

Fabia saw Alice run away and Shun following behind. She secretly smiled, and Serena walked over. "You plan this, didn't you?"

"Yes, I did. Shun is mine. Only mine."

"Are you forgetting about Ren and your daughter?"

"No, I'm not, but I still have strong feelings for Shun."

"Feelings..." Serena shook her head and clicked her tongue. "Fabia, you had your chance with Shun. You let him go for Ren."

"I know I did, but it was only because I got pregnant from Ren."

"I think you're wasting your time with Shun. He has a wife now, and he seems happy with her after you ruined his love life."

"I'm Shun's first and only love!" Fabia exclaimed, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Too bad that he forgot about you, though..."

Alice switched out of her clothes quick before she got sick from the soaked dress. She took a quick shower and changed her clothes. Then she made her way to the living room to find her husband sitting on the sofa waiting on her. The young woman gave him a smile and sat down beside him.

"I want to explain everything about me and Fabia." Shun confessed. He recalled every detail and explained it to Alice, from the day of the wedding to when Fabia had taken off with Ren. "After that, I resumed my ninja training and tried to push my feelings away. I trained my hardest to become best in my rank. That was until my father and sister died. My mother was my only support, but later, she was hospitalized. I thought she was a goner but she survived. I was so relieved went I saw her healthy and walking again."

That was the longest Alice had ever heard Shun speak. She caressed his check, and he closed his eyes. "I'm really sorry about your parents, sister, and Fabia. I want to be honest with you, too. At first when I found out about the marriage, I was angry with my family. I didn't understand why they were forcing me to do such thing. As I got closer to the wedding day, I finally accepted reality. I couldn't be angry with my parents anymore. When I came to this place, I met nice people: Runo, Dan, Marucho, Julie, Billy, and Klaus. I did have feelings for Klaus, but they're long gone. I don't love him anymore, only as a friend and nothing more."

Shun believed all the words she said. Her eyes showed honesty and confidence. He could see the emotions on her face like an open book.

"I don't want to leave you. I can't lose you, Shun." Alice confessed. She had learned to love her husband beyond any surface beauty. He was a cold person, but he had scars, too. He was human with flaws, but she didn't care about those things. She wanted to show him that she loved him with all her heart. Shun's next words left her speechless.

"Can we marry again?"
