I really liked this chapter. I hope you guys enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writting it!

What do you guys think of the cover I drew?

Disclaimer: Nope, still don't own Pokemon.

Tobi and Kuna walked down the mountain trail in silence. They hadn't spoken a word to each other throughout their entire journey, but they continued to walk beside each other, grateful that they survived the avalanche.

Finally, they reached Amity City and used a sign map to navigate their way to the Pokemon center.

Walking inside, the two trainers saw a familiar face chatting on the pokecenter phone.

"Bye dad, talk to you soon. Love you!" Kit hung up the phone, and turned around, smiling when she saw the two trainers standing in the pokecenter entrance.

Her eyes widened, and she ran up to Kuna and Tobi, hugging them. "Oh my gosh! I heard you guys were lost in the mountains and I was so worried! Im glad your OK!"

Tobi and Kuna smiled back. "Good to see you, Kit."

Kuna and Tobi healed their pokemon, then Kuna went off to train, and Tobi agreed to let Kit show him around town.

Shinx had KOed her 4th opponent that day, and had gained some experience in the process.

Kuna sent Shinx out against a pidgey, and when the bird pokemon managed to avoid Shinxs first attack, Kuna decided to try catching him.

Kuna threw a pokeball at Pidgey, but Pidgey broke free. Kuna growled and had Shinx paralyze him with thunderwave. Kuna tossed another pokeball, and it shook once.

Twice,

It shook a third time, then stopped.

Kuna picked up the pokeball containing his next teammate, and smiled.

"Oh! Look Tobi! This store sells adorable pokemon dolls! We should go buy some!"

Tobi smiled and walked inside the shop, where Kit was happily looking at a teddiursa and clefairy doll.

"Its too bad Kuna didn't want to come," Kit said as she took an armful of pokemon dolls over to the cash register. "Im sure he'd love some of these. What if we got him a Shinx doll to make up for it?"

Tobi frowned. "You sure? Kuna never seemed like the pokedoll type."

Kit nodded. "Tobi, Kuna may act cocky, but he's actually very insecure and lonely. Im sure he'd like some sort of sign that we are thinking about him."

Tobi almost scoffed, but then remembered how sad Kuna seemed in the cave, when none of his pokemon would cuddle him but Shinx, and frowned.

"I'll buy Kuna a Shinx doll. And then after we finish up here you can show me that ice cream shop you were going on about."

Kit grinned.

Kit, Tobi, and Kuna met back at the pokecenter. Kit gave Kuna the shinx doll, and then waved goodbye as Kuna and Tobi went to battle the gym.

They entered the gym, and were prepared to find and battle the gym leader when Tobi tripped suddenly and fell face first to the floor.

"Wow, watch where your going Tobitatsu!" Kuna yelled as he came over to help Tobi up.

Tobi ignored Kuna's outstretched hand, picking himself off the floor. "Im fine, I don't need your help!"

Kuna gritted his teeth. "Oh sure! Get mad at me for no reason!"

Tobi felt anger course through him at that comment "Your such a hypocrite!"

"Me? How am I a hypocrite!?"

"You get mad at me for no reason all the time!"

"Just because you think your so perfect doesn't mean you have to be a jerk when someone tries to help you!"

"I don't think I'm perfect! And I didn't need help!"

"Of course you didn't need help, you are so-"

"Excuse me, trainers, but I don't appreciate fighting inside my gym!" A third voice cut in, making Tobi and Kuna pause and turn towards her.

"If you two have issues, we can go work them out like reasonable humans!" The gym leader waved for them to follow her, and Kuna and Tobi shot a glare at each other before walking forward.

They entered a small room. The gym leader turned towards the two trainers. "You two need to talk about your issues." She looked at them. "Once you 2 have delt with your antagonism towards each other, you can come battle me." She left the room.

The 2 trainers looked at each other, and then realized that they were only getting out of this mess by talking.

Tobi spoke first. "Remember back in Archi town, how none of the other kids liked me? Remember how they tormented me?" Tobi began to tear up as he said this, and Kuna stopped glaring as he too remembered.

"At first, you were one of the few kids who never messed with me. You never went along with the teasing . I thought, maybe we could become friends, since you seemed so lonely and you didn't seem to hate me."

"But then, you just suddenly turn on me out of nowhere!" Tobi remembered Kuna pushing him to the ground, calling him names. "Suddenly, you go from being a kid I thought could be my friend to my enemy! You always tried to put me down and make me feel bad about myself! The other kids may have taunted me worse then you, but you were the one who betrayed me."

"We could have been friends, but now I'm not sure if that's possible. What did I ever do to make you turn on me?"

Kuna dropped his head. "I don't wanna talk about."

"So basically your just gonna continue to be mad and bitter to me and not even tell me why?"

Kuna let out a breath. "You're so good at everything! You're not like me, weak and pathetic! Your pokemon actually like you! Your PARENTS actually like you!"

Tobi's eyes widened at that comment, but Kuna just continued, having been wanting to say this for a long time.

"Oh so perfect Tobi! Can't do anything wrong in your life! And here I am, such a screw up at everything! My parents always told me that a person is only valuable if they have worth, and if I couldn't be a pokemon trainer, then I was worthless!"

"So I try to prove to them that I'm not worthless. I think, if I can just tame my own pokemon without pokeballs, maybe that could show that I have great potential. I loved pokemon, I just wanted to raise and care for them, but I soon came to realize that my dream of being a pokemon caretaker was ridiculous, so I decided to become a trainer."

"But none of the pokemon I tried to befriend liked me! They always were scared and distrustful and I didn't know why. I thought, maybe the pokemon around Archi town just don't like people. But then you come along and befriend a wild pokemon like its the easiest thing in the world. How dare you, I thought. How dare you sit there and easily do something that I was too pathetic to do at my best effort!"

"I guess I just took all my self-hate and forced it onto you. If I could be better then you at something, then it would show that I wasn't worthless. But even that doesn't work, because your so perfect, I could never beat you unless I had an unfair advantage!"

Kuna finished his rant, and then dropped his head, suddenly realizing what he just said. Tears leaked down both boys faces.

Tobi sat up and put his hand on Kuna's shoulder.

"Your not worthless. You don't need to be super powerful to matter. You matter because your you."

Kuna wiped his eyes, and lifted his head to look at Tobi.

"Thanks. I'm sorry I took my feelings out on you; it wasn't your fault." Kuna reached out a hand to shake Tobi's.

"Truce?"

Tobi smiled and shook Kuna's hand.

"Truce."

"Lets go defeat the gym leader!"

Kuna and Tobi stepped out of the room to see the gym leader watching them.

"Have you two worked things out?"

Tobi nodded his head.

The gym leader smiled. "Who wants to battle me first?"

Kuna stepped forward. "Im Kuna, and I challenge you!"

The gym leader smiled. "I, Murasaki, accept your challenge."

Murasaki sent out her first pokemon, giraffirig.

Kuna sent out Yu.

Yu managed to defeat 2 of Murasaki's pokemon, but was weakened by the third. Kuna withdrew her and sent out Houndour, and he defeated all but her last pokemon.

Kuna sent out Shinx against Murasakis last pokemon, and they battled.

Finally, Shinx defeated the pokemon, and Kuna was the winner of the match.

Murasaki came forward to give Kuna his badge, but before she could, Shinx began to glow.

Shinx was evolving.

Light flashed, and a luxio stood where Shinx had been previously.

Kuna smiled and ran forward to hug his newly evolved pokemon. "Way to go Luxio! Im so proud of you!"

Murasaki spoke up. "Great job evolving your pokemon, young trainer! For beating my gym I give you the Kinetic badge and the TM for physic. Good work!"

Tobi smiled at Kuna and Luxio and then stepped forward.

"I am Tobi, and I challenge you to a battle!"

"Challenge accepted!"

Tobi sent out Chairo.

Chairos shadow ball had succeeded in bringing the rival espeons health down to a small amount. Tobi withdrew Chairo and sent out Magikarp, who delt the final blow with a tackle.

Tobi won the match. Magikarp began glowing, and Tobi smiled when he realized his starter was finally evolving.

There was a flash of light, and Magikarp became Gyradose.

Tobi smiled and took his badge and TM from Murasaki, and then hugged the new pokemon. Tobi couldn't believe he'd evolved his starter!

After saying goodbye to Murasaki, Kuna and Tobi walked out of the gym. They were ready to leave when a voice called them.

"Kuna! Tobi! Wait up!" They turned around find Kit running over to them.

"I want to go to Silver city with you 2!"

Tobi smiled and nodded, agreeing to let her come, and the 3 trainers set off to the next town.

To be continued...
