Chapter 14: A Scream

Sally remembered shaking Amy's hand in a nice, delicate way that made Amy think how sincere she was trying to be. Sally also saw the smile on Sonic's face when Amy tried to make amends with her. Did it work? Not at all. Sally could see the facade Amy was hiding. That beautiful smile graced her face and she hated the way Amy and Sonic walked back to the school, their hands intertwined.

It disgusted her.

Now, she was at this party. Hitting it off with a dude that wasn't her type at all. She smiled and nodded her head even though she wasn't interested at whatever he was talking about. She found out his name was Shadow. He had black fur, spiked quills with strikes of red shown. He was pretty cute, but not her type.

''That sounds terrible.'' She took a small sip of the booze she had in her hands as Shadow continue to ramble endlessly about his so-called messed up life. After watching her for a while, he stopped talking and watched her stare off into the distance. He gently put a hand on her shoulder, making her jump. ''Are you alright? You seemed zone.''

''I'm...fine.'' She took a deep breath.

''You don't seem fine,'' he chuckled. ''Seems like you went to another universe.''

She smiled at him. Shadow shook his head and took the cup of booze out her hand and dumped it in a nearby plant pot. ''That should do the trick.''

''What you do that for!" She shouted, angrily. Shadow frowned at her. ''You don't seem like the drinking type.'' He didn't want to upset her as much as she was now. She was a peculiar girl to him and once he saw her lonely. He thought it would be good to make a new friend. Slowly, he put his arm around her, making her feel tense. ''It's alright. You can talk to me.''

''You wouldn't understand.'' Sally sniffled. Shadow gingerly lifted up her chin so she can stare at him. ''I can listen, you know.'' She wanted to smile, but she couldn't. She wouldn't. What was the point anyway if she was going to end up crying again. ''Sally?''

''Amy.'' She said almost breathlessly. Shadow looked around. ''Amy?''

Sally nodded. ''Yeah.'' She lifted her finger to her chin and began shaking her head, almost growling at the thought of the pink hedgehog. ''Why do she get everything in life!?''

Shadow was taken back. ''What?''

Sally pushed Shadow away from her and stood up, her back turned away from him as she stomped away to get more booze. Shadow wouldn't take no for an answer as he quickly got up and followed her through the house of drunk teens. ''Wait up, Sally!'' He called.

''Don't talk to me!'' She huffed, drowning her drink to the last drop and refilling her cup. ''I need to drink, I need to get loose.'' She sat there for a second, staring into the eyes of Shadow, who only watched her every move carefully. After four drinks, she couldn't take it anymore so she hurriedly ran to the bathroom to vomit the beer she let sunk in. She sat there for a while, her head on the toilet seat. ''Amy.'' she seethed the name like it was poisonous, a deadly virus that must be rid of. She hate the fact that the pink hedgehog was able to steal Sonic away.

Thinking back, why did she ever let herself fall deep for Sonic? Sally always dreamed of those ''Your best friend will fall in love with you'' movies. It was something that made her hope. Her and Sonic were very close and sure they kissed a few times, but it was innocent kisses; something simple like a kiss on the cheek. When she saw Amy kissing Sonic, she could feel his body flowing with electricity as he held tighter around her waist. It was either Amy was a good kisser or Sonic felt something more.

Did Amy feel anything?

''How about we just go back to your place, rent a few movies, and make snacks?'' Sonic and Amy laid in the back of the car, covered in a small blanket. Amy's head laid on the blue boy's chest as he played with her silky pink quills. ''Sounds fun.'' Amy said in a daze, staring at the ceiling of the car.

''What's the problem?''

''Don't want to wake the kids.'' She shrugged. Sonic gave a light-hearted chuckle. ''So, what do you want to do, then?''

''I don't know.'' Another shrug was given before Amy turned so she was now facing her blue lover. She smiled down at him when she saw his handsome features. She never in her life felt this way about a guy that she felt with Sonic. He smiled at her, a light laugh escaping his mouth. ''What?''

''I love you.'' The words were small at first, but with every much encouragement she felt she could say it loud enough for him to hear. They been through a lot together and a lot of arguments always came through. Sonic leaned up and captured her lips in a kiss. A long, sweet, passionate kiss that Amy did not want to give up on.

''I love you too.'' He told her.

Sally stumbled out the bathroom, the ebony hedgehog lended her a hand. ''I want to go home. Where is Sonic and Amy?'' Sally wiped the side of her mouth where vomit was left. ''I want to go home now!" She shouted at him. Shadow rubbed the back of his head, laughing nervously as he walked her out the door. Sally ran up to the car that brought her to the part in the first place.

She stopped in her tracks.

Moans were heard, groans, names being called out. Sally didn't go near the car once she knew what they were doing. And it seriously pissed her off. She turned back around and walked herself home.

Amy woke up in bed, feeling refreshed and happy for some odd reason. The party was okay and exactly what she wanted to do. Hang out with Sonic. A soft smile appeared on her face remembering last nights events was the most special moment of her life. Sonic stayed to look for Sally, but Shadow told them she left hours ago. Amy wondered how that went.

''Auntieeeeeeeeeeee!'' A small voiced whined. Amy stretched her body before getting up and walking down the hall. ''What's up, nephew?''

''I'm hungry.'' The little green hedgehog said. Amy ruffled his head and walked past him to get the baby. ''I'll make some oatmeal.'' She told him, sweetly. Carly was a heavy sleeper and even though she wasn't awake yet, Amy carried the soft pale pink hedgehog and sat her in the swing. Even in the swing, Carly slept like a baby. The swing was turned on to slow, rocking her gently.

''What type of oatmeal do you want?'' Amy asked as Romeo began to think. He shrugged. ''I don't know.''

''Why wouldn't you know?'' Amy laughed. Romeo's smile became wider when he heard his Auntie's sweet laugh. ''When is mommy coming back?''

''Soon.'' Amy replied. ''I think.''

''I wanna see her.''

''Didn't she call?''

''No.''

''Oh?'' Amy thought for a second. She hoped Rosy and Scourge was okay. She also hoped Scourge didn't get into any trouble, let alone himself in jail again. Knowing him, Amy laughed. ''I'll call after breakfast.'' Romeo nodded.

''So, lets see...''Amy scanned the cabinets of food. Oatmeal was placed neatly on each self, two different kids. ''I have Bananas and Cinnamon? Which one would you like?''

Aleena and Jules watched as Sonic carefully placed the last piece on his and Amy's science project. The project was due in a couple months and he promised Amy he would finish his part of the project. Aleena was quite delighted to see what him and Amy had in plan. With Jules help, the two succeed well. ''This is a real prize, son!''

''I hope so,'' Sonic let out a deep breath. ''Amy really wants to win.''

Aleena smiled softly at her son. ''Finally gave into her?''

Sonic laughed. ''Mom!''

''I'm just asking.'' She replied, innocently. As Aleena was getting ready to cut some carrots, she told him, ''You know Sonic, Sally hasn't call in a while or came over. You should talk to her.'' Sonic did notice this too, but at every reason tried to avoid talking to the brown chipmunk. Yes, she was his friend, but lately...she's been acting different. Not a good kind o different either. Sonic nodded at his mother. ''I will mom, don't worry.'' He kissed her cheek before speeding off to his room.

First he decided to call Sally, just to clear things up. Her phone rang, but she didn't answer. Every time he called, her phone went to voice-mail. He'd believed himself to stop over to visit in a few hours. As he chatted with Amy on the other line, hearing her laugh and the noises the kids was making, he was completely content. They joked, flirted on the phone, and rambled aimlessly about things. Sonic listened to Amy when she told him more about her family, her mother and father and how much of a lunatic they were. She told him how they were deemed for a nut-house and how she haven't seen them since she moved in with Rosy.

''Sounds horrible.'' Sonic plucked a grape into his mouth. ''I wish to have been there to see it.''

''That's sooooo mean!'' Amy's laughter filled the room, making Sonic laugh as well. ''At least it took your mind off other things.'' He replied back, earning a gasp from her. ''Sonic the Hedgehog! I swear you make me-'' Her voice was talking to someone else. ''Hold on Sonic.'' She sat the phone down as he heard her faintly call, ''Who is it?'' Sonic waited impatiently for the pink hedgehog to return to him, plucking another grape into his mouth. ''What is she doing?''

Suddenly...

He heard a scream.

''Amy!?''
