October 31st, Halloween Day, 12:01 am
"What do you mean flatlined?"
It was all Dick could do to hold back the tears he knew were brimming at the edges of his eyes. Starfire wasn't doing any better though as her tears flowed freely down her face. Alfred had already excused himself from the room to head back upstairs to Cyborg and the now deceased Beast Boy.
"When you were waking up, your magic flared out, we didn't know what to do, at each flare it felt like you were sapping the energy out of all of us. I guess Beast Boy just didn't have enough energy for you to take."
"So I killed him?"
Raven couldn't handle it any longer, the feeling in her chest was too great. She flung herself off the table she had been sitting on and immediately disappeared before any of them could stop her.
"Where did she go Robin?"
"I think I have an idea, come on Star."
He grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the batcave, up the three flights of stairs and down a hallway leading to the now full room that Beast Boy had been staying in.
Robin had been right in thinking Raven was there, for she was already seated next to him on the bed, his hand held between her own. The once dark energy that used to surround them whenever he was near was nowhere to be seen, truly marking his departure from the living.
"Oh Beast Boy." She whispered to herself.
His body was still underneath the sheet, his chest deflated as no air filled his lungs. Beast boy had turned back into his true form when he died instead of the dog form he had been while he waited for her. From the door, Robin could see a ghostly parlor fill his face as his body set into full rigor mortis.
"What have I done to you?"
Raven looked up and locked eyes with Robin, not even needing to communicate aloud what she needed. The boy wonder nodded his head before coughing lightly.
"Come on everyone, let's give her a moment."
Everyone filed out of the room, leaving a clearly distraught Raven still sitting on Beast Boy's bed. Tears were starting to fall freely down her cheeks as Robin closed the door to give them more privacy.
Once they had all gone, Raven laid her head on his still chest, her hands still holding the closest one to her.
"I'm so sorry Beast Boy, it's all my fault."
Raven closed her eyes while laying on him, not sure on what to do anymore and now regretting everything she didn't say and all of things she wished she had told him. The biggest thing though was how she felt.
As a tear slid down her cheek and land lightly on his covered torso she finally whispered the one thing she had been holding in.
"I love you."
When asked later she wouldn't know how to describe the feeling that overcame her or how a boy who had once been dead was no longer. All she knew was that the silent prayer she had said in her mind became an actual miracle.
A tingling sensation filled her hands not unlike what she had felt on Valentine's day, looking at the hand that still held his firmly she noticed that her aura was back.
"But…"
All of a sudden her head shifted due to the weight of lungs trying to draw in a breath that was stolen from them only moments before and caused the girl to practically leap off the bed.
"Beast Boy?"
At the mention of his name he shifted, his dog form sliding back into place as he refused to open his eyes.
"Beast Boy, can it this really be?"
An ear perked up to her voice as one eye slit open, still unsure if the voice it heard was truly that of Raven. Upon seeing her standing there though both of them flew open as a teenage was once again sitting on the bed, trying to pull off all the wires attached to him.
"Raven?!"
"Oh Beast Boy!"
She could no longer hold her emotions in as she flung herself on top of him. Hugging him as hard as she could and not letting him go until Robin and Alfred burst in the room.
"We heard shouting is everything….Beast Boy you're alive!"
"Hey Robin, looks like I am."
The green teen laughed lightly still holding tight to the girl who was currently sitting on his lap with her hood up covering her face from all but him.
"Friend Beast Boy, I am glad that you are no longer dead."
Starfire had finally come into the room at this point and was holding onto Robin's arm as she tried to get past the doorway which he was blocking.
It was only another moment before Cyborg had also made his way back into the room and Bruce was bringing up the rear.
"I am glad you are alright."
"Thanks Bruce, um Batman, uh…."
The others laughed at the boys obvious confusion of what he should call his host but none of them could cause themselves to not glance at the still slightly shaking girl in his arms. Finally Alfred shoo'd them out so Beast Boy could try to calm her before they both came down to eat.
"Rave, are you going to be okay?"
"You were dead, I killed you."
"You also brought me back."
"But I could you, there is still a monster in me."
He placed a hand under her chin before tilting it up to look into her tears stained eyes.
"There is no monster inside you or you never would have brought me back."
This caused her to just throw her arms around his neck and squeeze him tighter than before as she silently cried into his shoulder, her hands still slightly glowing but not as fierce as they used to around him.
"I love you Rave," he mumbled into her hair, breathing in her scent since they had been apart for so long.
"And I love you too Beast Boy."
She was no longer afraid to say it to him, finally accepting that their lives were too short to not say it at least once a day if not more to each other.
Thanksgiving Day 6:00 pm
"We are gathered around this feast not only to be with one another, but to be thankful for those who are here. Our friendship is the most precious thing in the world, and at this point it is all we can expect any of us to give. I'll start the first toast," Dick picked up the glass in front of him holding his apple cider since both Bruce and Alfred were against underage drinking, even if it was only champagne. "To Alfred, who prepared this wonderful meal for us and helped us in one of the Titans darkest hours. You have always been there when we need you."
A chorus of Cheers rang out as Dick finally sat down after he had touched glasses with those around him and allowed Bruce to rise in his stead.
"Thank you Dick. My son is right though, we should be thankful for those that were able to make it today, especially our 2 guests of honor who despite everything managed to fight on even when it looked like all hope was lost."
Bruce picked up his own glass and toasted the two teens sitting at the other end of the table that were holding hands, afraid to let go of one another just in case.
"To Raven, who despite all odds managed to rid Jump city of not only one but two evils."
Glasses clinked once he had paused to honor the goth teen on her own.
"And to Beast Boy, who we are not only thankful to be with us right now, but showing us all what true love and being of pure heart can do."
"To Raven and Beast Boy!"
Everyone had joined in the toast as the two teens just huddled closer together, just thankful that they had one another.
"I still Love you Rave," he whispered in her ear as everyone around them settled into talking while turkey was being passed around.
"And I you Beast Boy."
Neither teen noticed Starfire lean over to Dick and quietly ask "When will they actually kiss?"
"Who knows Star, who knows."
(AN: Hi again, just me, you know, your ever loving author. : ) Anywho….so next chapter in December and starting to wrap this up quite nicely. I know a lot of you are waiting on that kiss and if you've read some of my other stories you know I'm normally all for jumping into that stuff but with these two it just doesn't feel right yet. Remember, they are supposed to be friends before they become super close and after I killed Beast Boy in the last chapter it was time for them to at least confess their feelings so yeah…if you remember what I said in the first chapter than you know when Raven is finally going to kiss him.
