Chapter 14
Eren's POV
"Levi! This kitchen is so fucking coooooool!" I run my hands along the very smooth white counter-tops. They have this slight gray speckling to them that is shiny. Shiiinnnnnyyy.
Arms wrap around my waist, and Levi rests his chin near my shoulder. "Do you like it that much?"
I turn in his arms and peck his cheek. "I haven't seen the rest of the house, but this kitchen is the perfect place for you to make my sandwiches."
He scoffs and flicks my forehead. "Slave, what are you referring to. The amazing cafe owner me never stoops so low to serve the likes of you."
"Oh really? Because I seem to recall that last night when we were in the shower..."
Levi puts his finger to my lips. "If you finish that sentence you will regret it."
I laugh, knowing full well that he will never follow through with any threat he throws at me. At least I hope so. I did have a nightmare weeks and weeks ago that seemed to recall him beating my face in... Thank the heavens that Levi doesn't do that sort of thing nowadays.
Levi pulls away to go talk to the realtor—Armin, I believe it was. Levi is asking about if the appliances are included. I zone it out.
I wander down to the bedrooms. Two of them. One is a stunning master with windows overlooking the recently landscaped park. The other is a smaller one that with beige walls a few feet from the master.
I stroll through the master with its king sized dark wood bed. I hope this apartment comes with the furniture, because that would be perfect. I run my fingers over the down blanket, the pretty gray accents the wood well. I really hope this comes furnished.
I walk into the bathroom. And I can't help but let a grin creep onto my face.
It is the most luxurious bathroom I have ever seen. The tiles are all a beige with some light blue accent tiles splashed in a strip around the bathroom. The bathtub is the holy grail of all bathtubs. It is one of those super fancy things that has a door for old people and probably could fit like 5 full grown men, plus a Levi sized one.
I see a very nice looking button next to the light switches. Button. To press or not to press...
To press fo' sho'!
I shove my finger harshly on the button and I all of a sudden feel heat radiating up from beneath the tiles. Heated. Fucking. Tile. Floor.
"LEVI WE ARE GETTING THIS PLACE! GET IN HERE!"
I hear Levi walk through the bedroom and into the bathroom.
He looks at me like I am totally insane and off my rocker.
"Yes?"
"Take your shoes off." I order him and plop down onto the floor. The tiles are still somewhat cold, but I can feel the heat thrumming under them.
He sighs before doing as I asked of him. "This better be good." he muttered. As soon as his shoes are off he smirks at me. "Ah. I see you are officially a dog."
With that he slipped back into his shoes, walking out. I heard him walk away. I frowned his way, sticking my tongue out even though there was no way he would know.
But it was then that I heard him talking to Armin, obviously making arrangements to sign a contract on the apartment. A really large grin spread across my face and I snuggled my face into the tiles again.
I don't know how long it had been, but it didn't feel like long until Levi walked in and lightly kicked me with his foot.
"Brat, get off the filthy floor or no cuddles for you."
I whined and leaped up to get him. He shied away from my now grit covered shirt. However I was not going to let this one get away. I chased him through the apartment, Armin had a small grin on his face. We obviously amused him, which was good because otherwise we would probably be annoying to him.
I finally caught Levi and pinned him to the wall. "I win." I grinned.
Levi wiggled a bit, but soon quieted down, with only a resounding "tch" sound to show his irritation at me.
Armin cleared his throat. I turned my head, a sly grin still remaining on my lips. "Yeees?"
He chuckled. "Why don't we sign the papers with the landlord so you can move in."
I released my prize, turning to full on face the extremely nice realtor. I nodded my head at him exuberantly. "Lead the way."
I quickly followed him, feeling a dangerous presence—called a Levi—right behind me. I was so gonna get it for that stunt later.
But it would be so worth it!
And we got the apartment! Plus it did come with any furniture we wanted. Levi and planned on choosing what we wanted tomorrow after categorizing what we had and wanted to include in the new one. For him it was easy, most of the stuff in his current apartment belonged to his complex anyway. I on the other hand was not so easy.
I was a bit of a hoarder when you get right down to it.
We spent all of the next day rooting through my stuff, and I was having difficulty getting rid of anything.
At some point Levi found a mug broken in two but I wouldn't let him get rid of it for like half and hour because I broke it when my ex-boyfriend Pixis left and it reminded me that I should be smarter and not date old men who are still hung up over their divorce. Don't really know why I went out with him in the first place, but that is beside the point!
Eventually though we made it through all of my furniture, and I found that after persuasion I could get rid of most of it. I mean, it was mostly falling apart and the stuff we would have waiting for us was much nicer, but whatever. I liked my old couch!
Even if it was falling apart at the seams.
Shortly Levi and I were moving into the new apartment. It was a busy day, and going through all of the shit we both brought was hysterical. Levi had this weird plastic mustache key-chain from like elementary school which said "Well hello there..." all smexy like when you turned it on.
Of course I had my fair share of odd nicks and knacks as well. It seemed that an old clay sculpture of a dick I had done in my highschool art class had snuck its way into my bag. Oops.
Levi found it very amusing.
But hey, he had this really weird clear tentacle thing which he quickly shoved away into a bag as soon as he saw it—I think he thought I didn't see it. I will definitely have to check that one out later. Maybe(definitely)test it on him. In his sleep.
I'm evil, I know.
But beyond our teasing each other it was really pleasant. Just spending time together was perfect.
And for some reason or another I didn't have any brain attacks, which was the cherry on the cake.
The first day I woke up in that bed next to Levi with the fluffy as hell blankets it was like ecstasy. I don't think I will ever be able to leave this bed.
Eventually though Levi draws me out of bed with the temptation of a shower with him. Which was very steamy if you catch my drift. Wink wink.
But that heated floor man. Perfect for the tootsies after a shower.
Anywho, afterward Levi made his first meal in the new kitchen. We had just gone to the cafe and ordered pizza the previous day, so it was a moment to be remembered. And Levi did seem really happy with how everything was organized, so that's something. Levi being happy is always rare.
Especially nowadays.
No. Bad Eren. Don't get sucked into these thoughts.
I shook myself, forcing a grin onto my face when Levi set a plate of eggs and sausage in front of me.
I can smile, even if it's forced, and make him happy, right?
Levi's POV
This new place is great, and it seems to be alright with Eren.
Although I can see right through that thing he has plastered on his face. He calls that a smile? He really needs to work on hiding his feelings if he wants to fool me.
Not that I want him to hide his feelings, just that he's doing a bad job at it.
Eren and I eat in relative silence. Eren doesn't even seem to realize that he is brooding. And I don't want to break the moment because as I watch him tersely I can see his true emotions flitting off and on his face. His eyebrows and lips move helping me read him, along with the tension he puts on his muscles with some emotions.
Fear.
Worry.
Sadness.
Anger.
Love.
The last one makes me blink in surprise. I don't know how I can tell, but Eren glances up at me for a brief moment and back down at the food I made, and a softness comes over him He scoops up a bite of eggs, eating it delicately.
As he moves his hand a glimmer catches both of our eyes. His ring sparkling in the sunlight.
Eren clears his throat softly. "So Levi... We need to start planning for the wedding."
I dip my head down for a moment, make a small grunt to signify I heard and agree.
He takes a deep breath. "It should be soon. To try and avoid any... incidences..." I flinch as his eyes drop to the table.
"Yea..." I whisper softly.
Lost in my thoughts, counting down the days I have left with Eren. The clock seems to be going much to fast. Every hour feels as though it is a second and ever day a minute. The ever so precious time slipping away towards death.
I don't know when he started, but it is with surprise that I hear a gasping breath and a few sniffles.
"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry... I wish you had never met me so you could be happy..." Eren put his head in his hands and sobbed.
I blinked once in shock before getting up and clutching Eren to me as hard as I could. It was a bit awkward because he was sitting and I was standing, so I drug him down to sit in my lap on the floor.
I shoved our lips together, trying desperately to show him all of my emotions.
His hands weakly clutched at my back, gripping my shirt in between tired fingers.
"My life was nothing before I met you." I may have thought I was happy before Eren waltzed into the cafe that one morning, but now I realize that my life was dull before my light came into it. Without Eren my life had been a rock, and now it was a dazzling crystal.
I framed his face with my hands and forced him to look me in the eye. "Nothing was perfect until I met you. I wouldn't trade the moments together for anything in the whole world."
"But I have caused so much trouble..." He hiccuped.
I moved to hold him to my chest. "To be as happy as I have been, the trouble is well worth it."
I brought my lips to his forehead. "I love you Eren. More then you can ever imagine."
He sighed, a somewhat less distraught sigh, and repeated back those beautiful words. "I love you to Levi."
And I held him in the small kitchen, even in the face of adversary. Because I loved him more then I can put it into words.
