Ok. So this took way longer than I thought it would to do, but it's done. I am truly sorry this took so long.

I don't own Legend of Korra and I don't intend to make any money from this story.

Chapter 14: And So It Begins

Approaching the bar, Jin signalled to the elderly gentlemen behind, who was standing polishing a glass.

The bar tender walked towards Jin, "What can I do you for?" he asked leaning on the top of the bar.

"Something strong." Jin said with a sigh as he sat down on one of the bar chairs.

Turning around to find said strong liquid the elder gentlemen spoke over his shoulder, "So what's troubling you son?".

Jin looked up, slightly surprised and spoke up, "Rough night." Is all he cared to say before slumping his chin heavily on his folded arms on the bar.

The elderly man returned to the counter with a whiskey glass, filled with a golden liquid and some ice, placing it in front of Jin. "So it's girl trouble then?" the sight of Jin choking on the mouthful of whiskey he had just consumed was all the indication he needed to know he was on the right track.

"I have no idea what you are talking about!" Jin said quickly, trying to recover and cover up his suspicious reaction.

"Son I have seen many a man come to my bar with that very look. You could say I have an eye for it." The old man said with a slight smile.

Jin knew he had lost, deciding that denial would just make him look guiltier he simply said, "You don't know the half of it."

"Well kid, all I can say is don't let your own ego get in the way of doing what's right." The old man said before turning to tend to other customers.

Jin sighed, knowing that if it was that simply he wouldn't be in this position. Taking another sip from his glass he swivelled the bar stool around so that he could spectate the people in around the party.

Shifting his gaze around the hall inspecting every other person he could, he lost himself in his thoughts and began to make up stories about what each of the people at the party for.

From the old man who looked like he could cut down on the fatty foods, to the woman who definitely shouldn't have put that extra layer of make up on. He finally found his eyes fall upon a beauty that even he had to look twice to believe what he was seeing.

Before Jin had realised it the beauty had caught him staring and after excusing herself from the guest she was talking to, she made her way slowly over to Jin.

"Shit!" Jin cursed under his breath. 'I had to stare like a moron', he thought to himself. 'Well too late now, her she comes.' He convinced himself just before she gracefully took up the bar stool next to the one he was occupying.

She briefly looked at Jin before turning to attract the bar tenders attention, once she had done so she ordered herself a drink. Thanking the barmen and paying him, she took a slow drink form the glass before returning it to the top of the counter and looking straight at Jin.

"So, do I have something strange on my face?" she suddenly asked Jin, who was looking away pretending he wasn't embarrassed about being caught staring.

Looking at the beauty for the first time up close, he suddenly realised just who it was. Asami. Asami Sato, 'Well that was rather unexpected' he thought to himself still rather embarrassed.

"Well?" she asked again, pressing her lips to her glass for another drink of the content.

Snapping out of his own world he quickly thought of something to say in response, deciding it was best just to accept she had caught him with his hand in the cookie jar.

Turning just his head to look at the woman next to him he said as smoothly as he could, "Was just admiring your beauty". 'Yes nailed it!' he congratulated to himself.

She looked him up and down taking in what he just said before a smile crossed her face, followed by her laughing quite literally in Jins face.

'Guess not' Jin thought with a sigh.

After some seconds she finally dulled down her laughter and looked back at Jin, "I'm Asami Sato" she said extending her hand towards him.

Reaching out to shake her hand, he said with a smirk, "Jin. Just Jin. Pleasure to meet you" bringing her hand up to lay a gentle kiss on it.

"My, aren't you forward?" she said with a playful look.

"Only when I need to be" he replied quickly with a smile pulling at the side of his face.

"So what brings you to this little shindig?"

"The Avatar actually"

"Is that not the reason for us all being here? A ball in honour of the Avatar?"

"Well yes. But She literally brought me here" he explains with a sigh, taking another drink from his glass and looking out over the crowd.

"You seem like unusual company for the Avatar to keep"

"You have no idea. But for the moment I'm stuck here so I shall continue being strange company"

"Strange isn't always a bad thing"

"Under the wrong circumstances, it really is"

"Under what circumstances?"

"Very boring and complicated ones" he said quickly, berating himself for saying something that could put him in a difficult spot to talk out of.

"So I hear your father is quite a brilliant man" Jin inquires, trying to change the topic.

"He is quite yes, I see you are aware of who I am" she said then averting her gaze, "Its tough living in his shadow sometimes"

"Yeah I know. I had the same thing back where I'm from"

"Its just hard sometimes, people always have this preconception of how I actually am"

"You seem normal to me?"

"Most people think I am a helpless daddy's girl, who will just live off daddy forever"

"Life is what you make of it, you just have to get on with it I guess" Jin finished with a gloomy look on his face.

Noticing this and not enjoying the doom and gloom Asami offered out her hand, "Well just Jin. Would you be so kind to have this dance?"

Smiling Jin finished his drink and took her hand. She led him to the dance floor at the base of the massive cascading stair case, before stopping to face him.

Placing his hand on her waist and leaving the other in her hand, they began to sway to the melody of the music. Both of them getting lost in the moment.

Mean while, half way up the massive stair case, Korra stood talking to some officials about her plan to deal with the Amon. After some extensive explanations her eyes started wondering through the crowd, finally settling on Jin and a beautiful woman she did not know dancing.

Without thinking she started to make her way towards the two, not knowing exactly why it annoyed her so much, or just not willing to admit why.

Sorry that this chapter took so unbelievably long. I just lost all drive to write and I am quite busy now days. However I will endeavour to write as much as I can. Hope you enjoy the chapter
