Chapter Fourteen

Caitlyn was falling down with her eyes closed, ready for the impact of the ground when suddenly she felt a tug, stopping her from falling.

Dana had lunged forward and grabbed the end of the rope with both of her hands. "Hang on Caitlyn!" She tried to hold her grip on the rope, but it was slipping and her hands were starting to hurt. It was pulling her forward toward the trapped hole.

Tess, who saw what Dana did, rushed over and held onto the rope, steadying her "How about leaning us a hand, Luke," She retorted as she glances over and glares at him.

"Fine," Luke run over and stood in front of Tess and Dana, grabbing the rope. "Dana, go and save your friend"

Dana nodded and walked fast over to trapped hole. "Caitlyn, grab my hand".

Caitlyn tried to reach up for Dana's hand. "I can't, too far," She shouted, feeling herself slipping down.

"Come on, you can do it!"

Using her uninjured arm, she pushed herself up and reached up, grabbing Dana's hand. "Got it!"

Dana smiled and was about to pulled Caitlyn up when the rope broke in half causing Caitlyn to lose her grip on Dana's hand.

"Caitlyn!"

Caitlyn fell back down into the trapped hole screaming when a hand reached out and grabbed her uninjured arm.

She looked up to see who her savior was and her eyes widen. "Nate?"

Nate was leaning forward by the trapped hole beside Dana, who was shocked to see him. Behind him were Alex and Jason who was holding onto him to keep him from falling into the trapped hole.

Dana and Shane both grabbed a hold of Caitlyn's arm and help Nate pulled Caitlyn out of the trapped hole.

The force of pulling Caitlyn out cause Shane, Alex, Jason, Dana and Nate to tumble backward to the ground while Caitlyn fell on top of Nate.

"We did it!" Alex gently pushed Jason and Shane off of him and he rushed over to his cousin and Nate.

Nate sat up with Caitlyn in his arms. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" He checked her for any injuries when he notices her arm was bleeding and the scratch on her leg that was bleeding also. Before she knew, she found herself in Nate's warm embrace as he help her stand up; steadying her while Alex wrapped a small cloth around her wound on her leg.

"We need to get her back to the Camp," Alex suggests as he looked at his cousin pale face. "She doesn't look good".

Tess rushed over to Dana. "Are you okay?" She asked as she wrapped a towel around Dana.

Dana nodded. "I'm okay". She replied before she looked over at Caitlyn. She was glad that Caitlyn was safe.

"What are you two doing out here?" Shane asked as he got off the ground with Mitchie help. He was not happy to see Luke and Tess. Caitlyn turned her attention to them as Alex grabbed a towel from Nate's bag and wrapped it around her.

"Turner sends us out here to search for Dana". Luke replied.

Jason got up and walked up to Luke "Let me guess, Turner doesn't trust us at all, am I right?"

"We're leaving now," Luke walked over to Dana and helped her up. "Come on, let get you out of here. Turner is worried for you". He and Tess lead Dana back to Camp Star. As they were leaving, Dana glances back at Caitlyn, who was staring at her.

Once Dana, Luke, and Tess left, Caitlyn turned to Nate, who face was plasters with concern.

"Come on, let's head back to the camp," Shane said as he led the way back with Mitchie.

Nate lifted Caitlyn up in his arms without any protest from her and carried her back to camp with Alex and Jason following behind with Shane and Mitchie.

Caitlyn was now dried up in her clean clothes and was asleep in her bed with the bandage on her injured arm.

Mitchie, Alex, Shane, Jason, and Nate were standing beside her bed with Mitchie mom, who was checking Caitlyn's forehead with the back of her hand.

"Mom, how is she?" Mitchie asked.

"She should be fine. I already gave her some medicine and took care of her injury," Mrs Torres smiled at them. "I'm going to make her some soup so it'll be ready when she wake up".

"Thanks mom," Mitchie smiles at her mom.

Mrs Torres left out of the cabin leaving Shane, Jason, Nate, Mitchie, and Alex alone with Caitlyn. Everyone silently watch Caitlyn

"ACHOO!"

Everyone turned to Jason who was blowing his nose on the napkin.

"Sorry," He apologized.

"Come on," Shane walked with Jason out the door. "I think you caught a cold from the rain".

Once Shane and Jason were gone, Mitchie turned to Nate and Alex. "You guys should leave too and get some sleep. It has been a long day and you two look tired".

Alex nodded "Okay, but call me if anything come up or goes wrong,"

"I will," Mitchie agreed, ushering Alex out the door. She then turned and notice that Nate haven't made a move to leave. "Nate?"

His eyes haven't left Caitlyn as he spokes. "Is it alright if I stay by Caitlyn side until she wake up?"

Mitchie was about to protest, but decide not to when she notices the worried and sadness that was plastered on Nate's face.

Instead, she quietly walked over to him and touched his shoulder. "If you're staying, you might as well grab yourself a chair to sit down," She pointed to the corner of the room where the chair was push under the table.

Nate nodded and went to grab the chair, bringing it over quietly to Caitlyn's bed side. Then he sat down in it.

He grabbed one of Caitlyn's hands and held it in his hand as he was staring at her.

Mitchie could tell that Nate really loved Caitlyn. She just wishes that Caitlyn could see it for herself and give Nate a chance.

Without saying a word, Mitchie grabbed herself a chair and sat down on the other side of bed beside Caitlyn across from Nate.

The sunlight was shinning through the curtain into the cabin. Caitlyn slowly woke up, blinking her eyes. Her head was throbbing from the headache.

The last things she remembered was that she nearly fall back into the trap hole when Nate saved her. After that, it was all black. She was starting to question how she got back to her cabin when her mind suddenly realizes something.

"Nate?" She was about to sit up and asked Mitchie about him when she realizes that she wasn't alone. She felt someone was holding her hand and turned her head to see that Nate was besides her asleep while holding her hand.

His head was resting near her arm. Her free hand atomically moves and touched his head for a second before removing it away when she notices that he was stirring.

Caitlyn was about to go back to sleep when Nate lift his head up and looked at her.

"Caitlyn? You're awake," He said with a smile and relieve on his face. "How do you feel?" He asked as he helped her sit up, placing the pillow behind her so she can lean back against it.

"Beside the headache, I'm okay," She replied and gave him a small smile before she looked down at her hand.

"Caitlyn, we need to talk about what happen"

She looked up at him, knowing what he wanted to talk about. She shook her head and smile. "We don't have to..." She begins to speak.

"I think we should talk about it," Nate interrupted her. "I need to tell you how I feel".

Caitlyn was afraid to hear what he wanted to say, but didn't want to tell him so she nod instead of speaking. Nate took as a sign to continue. "Here goes nothing." He thought to himself and took a deep breath.

"Caitlyn I..." Caitlyn closes her eyes, preparing herself to hear what Nate has to say.

"I like you," He finally said it

Caitlyn opened her eyes and was shock to hear what he had told her. She was wondering if she was hearing it right.

"You like me?" she asked him with uncertain.

Nate grabbed her hand, holding it. "I like you Caitlyn. I'm not sure when I started to, but when I realized it, there nothing I can do to deny it. And there is nothing that I want more than to be with you because when I'm with you, I'm happy and more of myself. No one ever made me feel this way except for you." He looked down at her hand that he was holding "When I almost lost you yesterday, I was scared and sad that I would never see you again and I wouldn't have the chance to tell you how I felt about you." He looked up at her to see that she was staring at him. "What I'm trying to say is that I would like to have a chance to be with you".

Caitlyn felt her tears was about to fall down her check, but she held it back and looked down.

"Nate I..." She was hesitating on what to say and has doubt on whether Nate truly likes her or not. She want to asked him about Dana, but didn't.

As if he could read her mind, he spokes "There nothing between me and Dana. I admit that I did have a crush on her, but now I don't." He made it clear to her, hoping that she would give him a chance to be with her. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to. I'm willing to wait until you are ready," He told her.

Caitlyn stared at Nate unable to say anything. In her heart, it was telling her to give him a chance and that he really meant what he said.

Just when she was about to speak, the door of the cabin open and Mitchie walked in.

"Caitlyn?" She said with a surprised look and swiftly rushed over. "You're awake," She hugged her friend.

Caitlyn hugged Mitchie back, not taking her eyes off of Nate, who was still looking at her.

"How are you feeling?" Mitchie let go and asked.

"Hungry" Caitlyn touched her stomach and it growls.

All three of them burst in laughter.

"I'll go get some soup for you," Nate offered and got up from his seat.

"And get you something to eat as well too," Mitchie added and Nate nodded before he left out the door leaving Caitlyn alone with Mitchie.

"So," Mitchie turned to her friend and sat down in the chair. "Did anything happen with you and Nate in my absence?"

"He told me his feeling," Caitlyn looked down at her hands and then up at Mitchie, who touched her hands with her.

"How do you respond to his confession?"

"I didn't say anything," Mitchie hugged her friend, comforting her. "I was surprised by his confession that I was unable to speak.

"It's alright," she rubbed her friend's back. "You just need to sort out your feelings. That's all".

"Thank you," Caityln softly said as she hugged her friend back.
