Back! Okay, I'm not sure how well this chapter is going to come out because at this point I'm just running with it. XP I really only planned up until the fight scene two chapters ago. I know the main things I want to happen throughout the rest of the story, but simultaneously, I'm not quite sure how to connect which to which. Honestly? This story is probably gonna be over within the next two or three chapters. I just hope I can pull off the rest well. XP And this seemed to work okay on my other story, so I've got a question for you guys. Since my stories I'm working on right now are gonna be over soon, I want to write another one soon. The thing is, I've got, like, five ideas and I can't choose which to write first. So I decided to ask you guys! So these are the ideas:

First: Amu is absolutely FURIOUS with Tadase. He cheated on her. She wants revenge. She finds a man in an alleyway. He's on all fours like an animal. He is covered in blood and is leaning over a dead man's body. He is animalistic and doesn't seem to even be human anymore. Amu takes him in and decides to use him to get revenge on Tadase.

Second: Amu has always wanted to train a service animal. You'd obviously assume she'd take in a service dog, right? There's one problem: She has a deadly fear of dogs. One day she finds a stray cat on the street who obviously is on the brink of death. So she decides to take him in and train him. There must be other people who are afraid of dogs, right? But then she finds out there's something different about this cat. When he gets excited, he has a tendency to transform into a human named Ikuto!

Third: The continuation of my oneshot "Maybe Someday".

Fourth: Ikuto is a player. He can get any girl he wants, and he doesn't even have to try because they already all love him. Except for one girl. Amu Hinamori, the innocent girl who no guy can ever get. Ikuto's best friend Kukai thoughtlessly says that not every girl will fall for him. His pride hurt, Ikuto and Kukai make a bet that Ikuto can get the untouchable girl. And so the story goes.

Fifth: Ikuto is at Amu's house and they're arguing over something (as usual). Amu exclaims that she wishes Ikuto were her age so she could fight with him properly. But what do they do when just that happens? Why is Ikuto twelve? And to top it all off, he doesn't remember Amu! So on.

So if you by any chance review, then please put which one you'd like me to write first, if you don't mind. It won't be the very next one I write though because I'm about to start another story that the same person who wanted me to write this one wants me to write... Did that make sense? I don't know. XP But I'm definitely gonna write that one next and I still have to finish my Hunger Games fanfic. Um... Yeah. So let's get on to the story you actually came here to read. XP So I hope it's good! Here we go!

Flash of Pink

Chapter 14

It was like the girls were possessed. It was almost like that time at the dodgeball game where Amu was them to take her away. It was like they were fighting something. The men's minds were frantic, unsure of what to do. How could they do anything when they didn't even know what was happening?

Utau was sweating. She was running out of strength to resist. She couldn't fight anymore. So she took the last of her energy to say the name.

"Yukari... Sanjo..."

As soon as the words escaped her lips, Utau sat up perfectly straight. Her breathing was perfectly normal like that fit she'd had never happened. It was almost scary. She turned and stared at Kukai. "You didn't hear anything just now."

Her voice was cold with an undertone of warning. He wasn't sure how to deal with the information that was being thrown in his face. This was obviously Utau's other side. He'd never seen her before. It was so strange, seeing Utau being so cold.

He couldn't handle it. He walked out of the interrogation room tensely. He looked down the hall to see he wasn't the only one. Nagi and Kairi walked towards him with expressions which must be similar to the one he wore on his own face. He was the first to speak. "What... Just happened?"

Kairi's glasses were falling down his nose but for once he didn't move to adjust them. "I don't know."

Nagi was next. "It was like... It was like they were about to change, but..."

"But they fought back."

The three men stared at each other, none of them knowing how to deal with the situation.

Suddenly, they heard a door slam and they turned to see Ikuto pacing in the hallway, a strange expression on his face. He looked frustrated and angry but panicked at the same time. Like he wanted-no, needed to figure something out but the answer kept slipping past him. He didn't notice the other three detectives until Kukai called out to him.

"Hey, Tsukiyomi!"

Ikuto jerked before turning to Kukai. He tried to calm himself down. He needed to calm down. He couldn't let Amu-no, he couldn't let Akane get to him. That was exactly what she wanted. He couldn't let her get her way.

But the more he tried to stop worrying, the more agitated he got.

"What is it? Did you find anything?" Ikuto was tapping his foot anxiously, trying to get all of his extra energy out of his system. It didn't go unnoticed by his coworkers.

"Yeah," Kukai said slowly. "A little bit more than something, actually."

So the men all gave a summary of their interrogations. They ended on the moment when the girls all became their alter-egos. Ikuto stared at each of them in turn. "So in other words, we now have four mass murderers sitting in our interrogation rooms, furious because their other halves just spoiled their huge secret?"

None of the men had thought of it that way. And yet, that's what it was. Previously they'd had one mass murderer and three women who claimed to have split-personality disorder. But now... Now there were four killers that were furious. If they weren't handcuffed to the tables, they would probably go and murder everyone in sight.

Kukai told the men as much. "So if they were to be un-handcuffed they would just murder everyone they could get to?"

None of them spoke. None of them had to. The answer was obvious. But then after a moment, Ikuto spoke. "No."

The other three men stared at him. "What?"

Ikuto continued, more confidently this time. "No, they wouldn't. Why have they been killing all this time? They haven't just randomly picked random people off the street and said, 'Hey, let's kill them today.' Right? So why have they been killing?"

Kairi was the one who answered. "Because of Yukari Sanjo."

There was silence for a moment. Kukai spoke first. "So... What do we do now?"

Well, the answer should've been obvious. Find Yukari Sanjo and put her away for murder. Even if it hadn't been by her own hands, she was still a killer. Easy enough, right?

But that wasn't all. Because they still had to deal with the other four. That should've been easy as well. Throw them in jail with Sanjo because they were the ones who'd carried out the killings. Simple.

But it wasn't that simple. The four of them had split-personality disorder. Only the alter-egos were actually killing. And not only was it just their alter-egos, it was the personalities that weren't the originals. It was hardly fair to just throw them in jail, just like that.

Pause. "Well, first we need to find this Yukari Sanjo," Ikuto said. The others nodded in agreement. "You guys go and do some research on her. I'm gonna go give Nikaidou an update. I haven't told him anything in awhile."

He stepped away from them and pulled his cell phone out of his pocket as he walked away from the interrogation rooms.

Nikaidou answered on the third ring. "Hai hai, Ikuto-kun?"

Ikuto ignored him. He dove right into what he called about. He gave him a quick rundown of everything. "So now we have four mass murderers sitting in our interrogation rooms and their other halves claim that the orders came from a woman name Yukari Sanjo."

There was a pause on the other end of the line. "Yukari Sanjo, you say?"

"Yes."

Another pause. Then Nikaidou sighed. "I had a feeling that was it."

What? "I'm sorry, I don't understand. What did you just say?"

"Don't worry about finding her. I already know where she is."

Now Ikuto was even more confused. "Can you explain?"

Pause. Then a sigh. "Since the case started I've kinda been seeing this girl... I really do care about her, maybe even love her. But since the beginning I've always known she was hiding something. And the way that she would look away from me sometimes, looking really guilty... It obviously wasn't that once she stole money from her parents."

Realization hit Ikuto. "It's Yukari Sanjo."

"Leave her to me. But Ikuto... Here's the question. We know who the killers are, and we know who's controlling them. We also know that the girls have split personality disorder. So what do you do now?"

Ikuto stared at the phone for a moment, surprised. "I'm not sure I understand what you're asking."

"Well, the obvious answer would be to throw the killers in jail for life and forget about it. That is, if you're okay with throwing four innocent girls in there as well."

Ikuto ground his teeth. "I've already thought about that. It's best to put them in jail. They were aware of what was going on even if they weren't the ones actually doing the killings. They did nothing to stop it."

"And Amu?"

Ikuto froze, eyes wide. He opened his mouth as if to say something but nothing came out. There was a long stretch of silence.

Nikaidou broke the silence. "Just keep that in mind, Ikuto. I don't want you to do something you'll regret later. For multiple reasons."

No answer.

"I'll get Yukari for you, but the final decision as to what to do with them will be up to you. Bye."

Nikaidou hung up.

Ikuto must've stood there frozen for at least a minute. Then he cursed furiously and hung up his phone, trying not to throw it against the wall.

Did Nikaidou think he didn't know that?! Sure, three of the girls knew that another part of them was killing and they didn't do anything about it. But what about the fourth? What about Amu? She wasn't actually aware of any of this. She didn't know what was happening. She was totally innocent. Was he really going to throw her in jail?

Was he really going to throw the girl he loved in jail?

Ikuto slammed his arm against the wall. That had nothing to do with it. "Damn it!" he growled. Amu was plagiond his mind. He couldn't think straight anymore. It should be easy. Throw her in the psych ward. But whenever he thought of that... Whenever he thought of thaet, he suddenly felt protective of her. He instinctively thought that he would never let that happen to her. I mean, they have some really insane people in there... There are psychotic killers in there.

Ikuto could've hit himself. She was a psychotic killer, wasn't she?! So why was it so damn difficult?!

Ikuto went back into the interrogation room and realized why.

Amu was sitting in the chair, handcuffed to the table, with an expression of absolute terror on her face.

"Ikuto!" she exclaimed.

It was so difficult because it meant that Amu would be wearing that same expression for the rest of her life.

Okay, that's it for now! The next chapter will be the last! Um... Yeah. Review, fave, follow please! XD XD XD
