Trevor and Strong had just murdered a few scavengers and were merrily trekking towards Diamond City, eager to cash in their loot. They stopped when they overheard the sound of laser beams.

"Sounds like fighting," Strong stated. "Should we join?"

Trevor turned to Strong. "Nah," he shrugged. "Not our problem."

"Okay," Strong replied obediently.

They continued on until a red laser beam hit strong in the back. The super mutant growled and angrily spun around.

"Who did that?" He demanded.

Trevor looked back to see a cluster of crudely-assembled robots approaching them. The one in the front, an eyebot, shot another red beam at Strong. The laser struck his armored chest, but only succeeded in making him angrier. He whipped out his assault rifle and fired a few rounds into the eyebot. The bullets smashed right through the weak metal and downed the bot.

Trevor whipped out his hunting rifle and ducked behind a rock for cover. He fired at what looked like an assaultron with protectron legs and no body armor. His bullet hit the machine's torso, setting off a few sparks.

He reloaded as quickly as he could and fired again. This time, the machine went down.

The duo kept firing from their safe distance, downing a couple more robots, until the rest were too close now for long range weapons. Trevor tossed his rifle to the side and drew his 10mm pistol. Strong whipped out his super sledge.

Strong downed one poorly armored protectron in one mighty blow.

Trevor's pistol fired must faster than his rifle. Under rapid fire, he downed… what looked like an legless assaultron, flying using a Mr. Handy jet.

Strong struck down another robot, but was shot by one more laser beam. This one did it. He yelped in pain and fell to his knees, clutching his side where the laser struck him.

Trevor rushed ahead of his friend before the last robot could close in on him, and slammed his own super sledge into it. The robot crumbled.

Trevor looked around. That appeared to be the last of them. It was now that he noticed the flaming debris scattered around them. Clearly they had just happened upon a larger battle.

Now that they were safe, Trevor walked up to Strong and jammed a stimpak into his big, muscular arm.

"Thank you," Strong said as Trevor helped him to his feet.

The danger now gone, Trevor and Strong inspected the robots they had downed, searching for valuable salvage they could sell. In the wreckage they found some robot repair kits. They also came across a few human bodies.

"Where did robots come from?" Strong asked.

"I dunno," Trevor shrugged. "They're too ugly to be Institute robots, that's for sure. Maybe Brotherhood?"

It was then that they noticed one last robot marching towards them. It a blue assaultron on protectron legs with a bloated arm.

"Looks like we got one more, Strong," Trevor remarked drawing his pistol. Strong pulled out his sledge again.

"No!" The robot pleaded in a feminine voice. "Please! Don't shoot! I'm not one of them! They attacked me and my friends!"

Trevor lowered his gun, slightly interested in hearing what this robot had to say. He held up an arm to stop Strong, who grumbled.

"Who are you?" Trevor asked, approaching the robot. "You alright?"

"My name is Ada," the robot answered. "Physically the damage is minor, but I am registering sadness and anger at the loss of my friends. I was certain to meet my end here as well, had you not intervened. Thank you for the assistance."

"Lucky for you we just happened to be passing through," Trevor chuckled.

"An interesting choice of words," Ada replied sadly. Trevor could tell she was saddened by the deaths of her friends. "This was the third time we were attacked by robots like these. Even with the upgrades Jackson gave me, I was unable to defend them."

"Who's Jackson?" Trevor asked.

"He was the leader of this caravan. He had a great mind for technology. In many ways, he is my creator. He installed all of my current upgrades. Unfortunately, they were not enough to protect them from the robots."

"So you've been attacked by these kinds of robots before?"

"Yes. They've attacked us without any warning. Without any statement of intention. And others have been attacked by similar robots. We knew we risked encountering more of these hostile robots if we stayed in the Commonwealth. If only we had made the decision to leave."

"Well, what's done is done, can't change it."

"You're right. I must look to the future. In recompense, I will seek justice for my friends and stop these robots from causing further harm. It's time to uncover their source and confront their leader, the Mechanist."

"Ooo! Mechanist," Strong remarked excitedly. "Sounds like worthy enemy."

"Who's the Mechanist?" Trevor asked Ada.

"The only information I have comes from the eyebot broadcasts," Ada answered. "False claims of peace and justice. The only certainty is that these robots bring only death."

"Oh this is bad," Trevor said to Strong. "We've killed some of this guy's robots, so he might send more after us now."

"Let them come!" Strong sneered. "Strong will smash all of them!"

"And you know what else?" Trevor added. "Nobody is plundering the Commonwealth but us! We can't let this bozo take over our territory!"

"You are a raider?" Ada asked.

"Best around!" Trevor gloated. "I'm Trevor Philips, head of TPI Industries, the best raider gang in the Commonwealth, and this here is my right hand man, Strong!"

"Strong is your right hand super mutant!" Strong corrected.

"Oh right. Of course."

Ada hesitated, clearly thinking of what to say, and then spoke, "Well, your intentions may not be pure, but it's clear we share a common enemy, Trevor Philips. I ask you that you please assist me in stopping this Mechanist. In return, I can help you construct your own robot workbench."

"So you want revenge, huh?" Trevor asked.

"Yes. Stopping the Mechanist will both protect the Commonwealth and allow me to avenge my fallen friends. I owe it to them."

"Alright, I'm in," Trevor replied enthusiastically. "Do you know where Sunshine Tidings is?"

"Yes, my memory databanks contain a detailed map of the Commonwealth."

"Alright, Strong and I got some shit to take care right now. We'll meet you there. Tell them Trevor sent ya and they won't give you any trouble."

"As you wish," Ada nodded. "I will see you there soon." She headed off in the direction of Sunshine Tidings.
