Hey again! This will hopefully be a nice long chapter. I am still going to try to finish this before the movie comes out, so hopefully I can reach that goal. I have also noticed that I have been spelling Phillip's name wrong the entire time. I'll try to go back sometime and fix that. Anyways, on with the story. Enjoy!

Maleficent's point of view.

After Helen had left, I turned back towards the flames that engulfed much of my throne room. She had started to remind me much of myself when I was her age, and hopeful in what I could accomplish in the world. But one's view on the world will change after many years. Her time was yet to come.

I continued stroking Diablo's feathers as I stared into the fire. It had been a long time since I had felt this content. Not that I spent much time anymore on such frivolous things as emotions. But the sight of those pathetic fairies' shocked faces at the fulfillment of the curse that they had tried so long to avoid brought me great comfort. The balance of good and evil had to be maintained, even though they always thought together they could defeat me. Today evil won, as it was meant to be.

My thoughts then turned towards the captured prince, who was an unexpected surprise in my plans. I do enjoy a cruel irony, which does add a certain sort of flair to any plot. "What a pity Prince Phillip can't be here, to enjoy the celebration," I stated to my feathery companion. I let a small laugh escape my mouth, the chances of the princess's love actually being her betrothed made this all the more miraculous. I know had two kingdoms at my mercy.

"Come. We must go to the dungeon and cheer him up." I rose to my feet, leaving the throne room and heading towards the lower reaches of the castle. Diablo flew above me, patiently waiting as I made my decent. I had spent sixteen years waiting for this, I was not about to rush myself. It was their time to wait.

The decent was much longer than I had remembered, but the silence was slightly comforting compared to the high pitched screeches coming from the throne room. Oh it had been years since I actually came down here. Yes many had inhabited the cells over the years, but very few of which I cared to see or torment more.

As the royal's cell approached, I withdrew the small key and slowly unlocked the bolt. I entered into the room with Diablo landing on the hilt of an ax that had been used on the cell's previous owner. As I drew closer to the prince, he slowly raised his head up in my direction, distraught etched across his face.

"Oh come now Prince Phillip. Why so melancholy?" I asked with the slightest hint of curiosity in an attempt to further mock his situation.

"A wondrous future lies before you. You, the destined hero, of a charming fairy tale come true." He furrowed his eyebrows, not amused with what he assumed as a simple jest. I decided I would paint a picture of the tale I planned to spin, so with a few simple waves of my hand over the crystal in my scepter, the room slowly filled with a light green mist.

"Behold, King Stephan's castle." As I spoke the room filled with the image of the very castle I spoke of. As I continued to tell my tale, the picture continued to change, not leaving out a single detail.

"And in yonder top most tower, dreaming of her true love, the Princess Aurora. But see the gracious whim of fate. Why! 'Tis the self same peasant maid, who won the heart of our noble Prince but yesterday." I could see his eyes fill with longing for his lost princess as she appeared peacefully asleep. "She is indeed most wondrous fair. Gold of sunshine in her hair. Lips that shame the red, red rose. In ageless sleep, she finds repose."

The scene of the sleeping princess started to fade and slowly forming is the court yard that leads from the dungeons. "The years role by, but a hundred years to a stead fast heart, are but a day. And now, the gates of our dungeon part and our prince is free to go his way." A sliver of a man slowly enters the picture, riding a tired and grayed horse. The gates are slowly opening to let rider and horse leave the castle grounds.

"Off he rides, on his noble stead. A valiant figure, straight and tall," I elaborate with sharp bites of sarcasm as the slouched figure continues to ride off and the picture begins to fade entirely, "to wake his love, with loves first kiss." I let that final phrase escape with even more mockery, to let those final emotional and mental scars set in. "And prove that true love concurs all!" The prince tries to struggle against his restraints in order to reach me, which only heightens my amusement and earns him my laughter.

I give one final smirk at the defeated prince and turn to leave, holding out my hand for Diablo to perch upon. "Come my pet; let us leave our noble prince with these happy thoughts." He continued to struggle as I made my way towards the door. I turn back towards Diablo and make sure to say loud enough so the prince can hear, "A most gratifying day."

At the sound of the lock of the door, the rattling chains of Phillip's shackles ceased. I turned back to my loyal companion, "For the first time in sixteen years, I shall sleep well." I slid the key back in my pocket.

As I continued to make my way up the staircase and towards the tower that I resided in, I noticed that Diablo kept looking behind suspiciously. Before entering my study I turned back towards him, "Go and see that our guest has a pleasant sleep for the first night in his new home."

Helen's Point of View

I stood there, contemplating if I should read the parchment or not. I flipped it over to see that there was a seal on the back, so I knew I couldn't read it without Maleficent knowing I had already looked at it. At the sound of footsteps approaching and I quickly ran to place the note back in the book from which it came. I heard the muffled voice of Maleficent grow clearer as she drew nearer. I quickly ran to the door and waited at the side, so that when she opened the door, I would be waiting to be dismissed for the evening.

"Go and see that our guest has a pleasant sleep for the first night in his new home," I heard her say to someone, I'm assuming Diablo for he is the only one who she speaks to in such a plain tone.

The door creaked open as I stood patiently, hoping that she would just let me leave. Maleficent moved towards her desk, a tired smile on her face. Once she was seated, she pulled out a tattered leather bound book. I stood there in silence, keeping my eyes averted. She started writing something down and then without lifting her head retorted, "Are you still here? I thought I was perfectly clear that after you were done you were dismissed for the evening."

I lifted my head up, surprised that she had actually noticed me. I curtsied, even though her attention was elsewhere. I slowly backed out the door, trying my best not to make a sound until I was out of ear shot. As soon as I heard the latch on the door click, I quickly headed down the staircase towards my room. Once I reached the safety of my quarters, I flung myself on my bed, glad to be out of anymore awkward conversations or situations with Maleficent for the rest of the day. I can honestly say that out of the few people that I have met during my lifetime, she is the most difficult to speak with, and not just because she could easily end my life at the snap of her fingers. I suspect that it is because she was very careful with the words she used, and preferred silence over idle chit chat.

I looked outside the window and saw that stars scattered the night sky. I continued to look at their beauty as I let sleep finally take hold of me. My sleep didn't last long, because I was woken up shortly by the screeches of Diablo coming from outside my window. I groaned and looked out the window to see why I was being deprived of what little sleep I was granted. I saw across the courtyard a figure jumping out of one of the windows with weapons of all sorts flying out after him. I rubbed my eyes to make sure that I wasn't just seeing things, but I wasn't imagining this. It was the prince, who somehow managed to escape from his cell. I wasn't sure of how that was possible, but it had happened all the same. I continued to watch the scene unfold before me.

There were guards stationed on one of the walls, with large boulders sitting on the edge. Diablo's urgent cries could be heard echoing throughout the court yard. The boulders were then pushed in the direction of the prince, but before they could hit their target there were pink sparks that turned them into a multitude of bubbles. The prince continued to run towards his horse, which had been tethered at the edge of the court yard.

A volley of arrows made their way towards the escaping prince, and they were altered into flowers before they could pierce Phillip's skin by the same pink sparks. The only explanation that I could muster was that the three good fairies had managed to release the prince from his shackles in an attempt to awake the sleeping princess.

With a small flash of blue sparks, Prince Phillip's horse was released. The prince hopped on top of him and headed towards the gate. In a final attempt to halt him, the guards poured two giant vats of boiling oil over the archway that lead to the castle's front gates. This was transformed into a small rainbow just as the prince was reaching the arch.

At this point I was straining to see what was happening, so I swung open my door and started to head towards the tower that held Maleficent's study and chambers. As I made my ascent, Diablo's cries filled the air, but now they were more frequent and filled with fear. But before I could reach the top of the tower, they stopped and the air was deathly quiet. I was about halfway up the steps when Maleficent stepped out of her study.

Throwing her arms up in the air she shouted, "Silence!" which made me stop dead in my tracks. She then turned to Diablo, "You, tell those fools to…no," She said placing a hand to her mouth. She then looked down at the gates that Phillip was leaving through, "No!" was all that came out of her mouth.

I turned to see that the draw bridge was being raised and through some miraculous feet of luck, the prince had managed to cross the gorge. I turned back to Maleficent, who had already started to continue up the spiral stair case that lead to the top of the tower, where she watched the scene continue. I headed up to the landing that she was previously on to get a better view. I was surprised upon reaching it that Diablo had been turned to stone. He looked as if he had been carved into the castle itself.

I couldn't revel for long at the unfortunate end of the bird that had caused me such trouble, for lightning strikes were being fired above my head towards the escaping prince. I continued to watch as he narrowly avoided each lightning bolt. I knew that this only angered Maleficent more because no one was ever able to avoid her accuracy, until now.

As the prince continued to move towards King Stephan's castle, I looked up at the sky that had started to turn an ominous dark purple. I then heard Maleficent above me chanting, "A forest of thorns shall be his tomb. Borne through the sky on the fog of doom. Now go with the curse! And serve me well, round Stephan's castle, cast my spell!" I watched as the fog that had formed from Maleficent's staff quickly rushed towards the castle and lightning shot out from it. Every spot that those bolts touched sprouted thorn bushes of gigantic stature. As the prince reached the outskirts of the forest, he was stopped to a halt. He attempted to make his way through the thorns by hacking at them. Maleficent's triumphant laughter was the only sound that I could hear, and it quickly filled my head with ominous thoughts.

But despite her attempts, Phillip had managed to make it through the majority of the thorns in no time at all. Maleficent's laugh was soon replaced with, "No! It cannot be!" And then a whirlwind of sparks and flames flew over head towards the castle and landed a few meters in front of the prince. The bridge that she landed on erupted into green flames, startling the prince's horse. I then ran up to the perch that Maleficent had been on not ten seconds before. Right as I had done so, the entire sky lit up and an enormous column of flames burst towards the sky. I watched in complete shock and terror as I saw the far off and small figure of Maleficent grow and elongate into that of a dragon. Yes I had seen her as a dragon before, but never seen her change into that shape. I know for a fact that it is something that will always be in the darkest reaches of my mind to haunt me. All I could do now was watch the battle that was about to unfold between my mistress and the severely outmatched prince.

OHH SNAP! I seriously love the dragon scene. It has been my favorite in the entire movie ever since I can remember. Sorry to leave you on that note, but I have to decide if I should do the next chapter in Maleficent's pov , Helen's, or if I should alternate between the two. Leave a comment and let me know what you think!
