I am very happy with those of you who've reviewed my story on fictionpress. I'm telling you, the writing's a million times better than it is with this fic. Plus it's my own original story.
But whatever- on with the chapter! Eat it up, Bon Apetit.
---
That was the most random thing that had ever happened to the Grimm family, which was saying something. The pinecones were littered around the kitchen and the note was still on the floor. The window had been mended by magical means, but Granny was trying to sort out the mess.
Meanwhile, a counsel was being held in the living room.
"Umm...pinecones?" Puck asked, his voice on the edge of hysteria.
"That's got to be the most random thing that's ever happened to us," Sabrina muttered.
"Can you think of anybody who would use pinecones?" Daphne asked.
"...not really. The pied piper could control animals, remember? But I thought they went into hiding years ago," Uncle Jake responded.
"Hey, did you ever manage to fix the Machine? It's a real pity it isn't working right now," Sabrina said, casting a dark look towards Puck. He shrugged sheepishly.
"Actually, no. We were just working on it in Mirror's-"
"VANDALISM! I SAY, DO NOT- HEY! WATCH IT!" Mirror's loud bellow came sounding from upstairs, followed by a loud crash and the tinkle of glass. Sabrina rushed upstairs, the rest following her, to see Mirror lying on his side and the window broken. A fairy shape, to be exact.
While Puck gaped at the window and Daphne examined a trail of glittering dust, Sabrina and Uncle Jake attempted to right Mirror once more. After checking to make sure nothing was broken, they melted through the looking glass and into the Hall of Wonders. There, things were even more of a mess.
The lights had gone out, all except for one wall sconce that was emitting an eerie glow. Sabrina managed to pick out a knocked-over desk, sideways rug, and a very disgruntled Mirror underneath it all. Mirror got to his feet and brushed himself off, looking anxious. His face was ghostly pale.
"You wouldn't believe it. I saw her, I saw her...the royal murderer, the treacherous fiend..." Mirror muttered, his hands shaking slightly. "She attacked me, with that god forsaken horde of pixies, and now...it's gone."
"You can't mean the Dream Machine?" Sabrina cried, startled and sad.
"Who was it, exactly?" Uncle Jake asked furiously.
Puck's unusually grave voice echoed around the dimly lit hallway.
"Moth, of course. Who else?"
--
"You're to stay in this house, both of you! We both know who Moth targets; if she gets in contact with Heart, and they finish what they've begun, then she's going to come after you. The only way to avoid that is to stay right here."
Granny finished her sentence, her eyes gleaming with an unnaturally threatening light.
"But Heart's plan is centered around us getting killed, right? She won't want Puck dead," Sabrina retorted.
"Then she'll come for Puck first, leaving us good as unprotected, now that the wolf is out of Tobias. All the more reason for you two to stay home."
Without another word, she slammed the front door shut, Daphne, Jake, Canis, and Sabrina's parents following her out. The two teenagers listened to the multiple locks as they clicked shut.
There was an awkward pause.
"Well, this sucks," Puck commented airily, summarizing the turn of events in his quick phrase.
Sabrina grunted and stomped out of the room. She heard Puck follow her.
"Hey, it won't be so bad- I thought we came to a truce."
Sabrina suddenly stopped and Puck ran into her, toppling her over.
"Get off of me, you idiot," Sabrina said, pushing him away from her.
"Somebody's a little moody," Puck said, his wings popping out of his back as he circled her. "Actually, I remember this word...fickle. 'Doth her mood change as fast as the Wicked Wind'." Puck said mockingly, picking up the Old English tongue.
"What do you want?" Sabrina snapped.
"Lighten up. I'm not so bad."
There was a pause, in which Sabrina pondered this phrase.
"You're supposed to agree with me," Puck suggested.
"I have every right not to agree with you. Didn't you just dump me in another vat of colorful glue? I thought, as you said, we had a 'truce'."
"Nah, that was for old time's sake. I am the Prankster, after all."
"So wonderful and modest. I absolutely love you," Sabrina said, rolling her eyes. However, she didn't see Puck freeze at her words.
"Do you, huh?"
"It's called sarcasm."
His face fell and his wings disappeared.
"Alright then, I'll be going," Puck said grumpily, turned, opened his bedroom door, and slammed it behind him.
Sabrina was left to wonder what exactly was up with him, though the nagging voice in her head told her she knew exactly what just happened.
---
And we find our dear, poor Sabrina in one of the common stages of love- denial. So here we are; the return of Moth, an indefinite lockdown for our two favorite characters, and a hidden confession from Puck.
The chapter's rubbish, but please review anyway!
