My Best Friend's Baby
Chapter 14
"We have a problem!" Taylor announced as she and Gabriella walked up to Sharpay.
"And what might that be?"
"Kasey."
Sharpay instantly frowned. "What about her?"
"She's threatening to tell the secret."
"The….that conniving little bitch!" Sharpay sneered when she realized what they were talking about. "I'll run her ass into the ground."
"Sharpay, it's not that serious," Gabriella tried to plead with her friend, knowing how the blond could be. She hadn't even wanted to tell Taylor, but the girl had brought it out of her. "School is almost over and then I won't ever have to see her again."
"Not that serious? Are you insane? This could ruin everything!"
She nodded. "I know and I understand that, but if it does, it's my mistake. I'm the one who decided to keep it from him. Just leave it alone, I can handle it myself."
"You shouldn't have to!"
"That doesn't matter. I dug myself into this hole, and I've told you guys before I'm not trying to drag you down with me. I got myself into this on my own and I need to get myself out the same way."
"But why can't I…"
"I'm not always going to have you around, Sharpay," Gabriella tried to reason with her friend. "And if you guys are helping me so much now, what am I going to do when I don't have you?"
"Well you do! So why not take advantage. You know what I can do to her."
"What's the point? She's graduating in a few months anyway, I won't ever have to see her again. Plus it's not like she's planning on telling the entire school."
"But she's telling the most important person," Taylor protested.
Gabriella shrugged. "I can handle it. But thanks anyway. I have an exam to get to."
When the young latina walked away, Sharpay's eyes narrowed and Taylor glanced at her nerviously. "What are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking that no one messes with my friend and gets away with it."
"Shar…"
"Whether Gabriella likes it or not, we're here to help. We're her friends and that's what friends are for. And these friends are going to make sure we take this bitch down before she has a chance to do so to Gabi."
Before Taylor could get another word in, Sharpay turned on her hell and stomped off confidently down the hall, leaving Taylor to look up at the ceiling in desperation. "Why?"
A couple of days later, Gabriella was surprised to walk into East High to see that for once everyone was not staring at her. She wasn't the talk of the hall and there weren't a thousand and one rumors running wild about her.
Instead everyone was laughing. And they weren't laughing at her.
Walking to her locker, Gabriella witnessed half of her class and more holding papers in their hands as they stood in small groups giggling about whatever it was they were seeing. Confused, but figuring she wouldn't get involved, she continued on, reaching her locker and ignoring the laughter around her.
Midway through grabbing her books, there was a slam and her locker shut right before her eyes. She blinked and took a step back just as Kasey appeared in front of her, looking more than extremely mad.
"You bitch!" She sneered at Gabriella, who took a step back at her anger.
"What the hell are talking about?"
"You know exactly what I'm talking about! I threaten to tell your little secret and you run off and do this? As if this is going to stop me. Well you've got another thing coming Montez. Think I won't tell him now, you've got nothing on me, you little whore!" She spat before turning and stalking off down the hallway, leaving Gabriella even more confused and in shock.
She watched the angry female as she pushed past people who had gathered with papers in their hands, continuing their laughter. It was then that she put it together in her head. Clearly Kasey was upset about whatever was on that paper and she assumed Gabriella was behind it.
Determined to figure out what the hell was going on, she stomped over to a group of sophomores, snatching the paper they had been staring at out of the one red headed girls hand, paying them no attention as they glared at her and walked off.
When she finally laid her eyes on the pictures that seemed to be so devastating for Kasey, she understood the anger. The picture was clearly photoshopped, but whoever had done it had done a good enough job to make it believable to others. One side of the photo was Kasey now, her thin body in a bathing suit while she smiled on the beach. And the other side was Kasey also on the beach, but at a different time. Only the girl in that picture wasn't so thin and her breasts were significantly smaller than the first and her nose had been altered completely differently. Whoever had made me these pictures was set out to make it look like Kasey had altered her body drastically with plastic surgery in more ways than one.
And as Gabriella let the paper fall from her hands, she went to the one place she knew she would find the culprits of this crime.
When she finally got to the cafeteria, where breakfast was being served and she knew two people for sure would be here, she spotted them across the cafeteria, at a table for two. Empty plates were in front of them, as well as a copy of the picture that was being passed around school.
"Can you believe it?" Sharpay laughed as Gabriella walked up.
"What is wrong with you two?" She yelled, catching the attention of a few bystanders.
Sharpay instantly whipped her head around, while Taylor looked up at the girl guiltily.
"What do you mean?"
"Shar, please don't play innocent with me. This has your name written all over it."
"Gabriella…"
"This is…guys, she's really pissed about this."
"It's just a joke," Taylor admitted at the same time that Sharpay asked. "Since when do you care about Kasey's feelings?"
"This is not a joke, you guys! And I care because it's wrong. Yes, Kasey's a bitch, but that doesn't mean stoop to her level. I told you I could handle this on my own, but you didn't listen to me. And now guess what? By you pissing her off, she's definitely going to tell him now."
"Gab…" Taylor tried again, but Gabriella wasn't trying to hear it.
"I appreciate you two attempting to be good friends, but it's not working out. If you just would have minded your own business and not stuck your noses in mind, then I wouldn't have to worry about what she will and won't tell Troy. Thanks a lot!"
And in true fashion of what many girls at East High had been doing lately, she turned on her heels and angrily walked away from her friends, leaving them speechless and guilty, staring at each other in confusion.
What had they done?
Troy had been relaxing in the study room during his free period, attempting to get the last of his college applications filled out, but he'd run into a bit of trouble and the only person he knew would be able to help him, he hadn't seen all day.
He sighed, about to give up and go search for Gabriella to ask for her help, knowing she'd been preparing her own college applications a year early, but was stopped by Chad who walked in. "Have you seen it?"
Troy looked at him. "Seen what?"
"So I take that as you haven't? How could you not? They're all over campus."
"What pictures are you talking about, Chad?"
With a look, Chad pulled the paper out of his pocket and handled it to Troy, standing as his friend viewed the same pictures almost half the school and Gabriella had been looking at earlier this morning.
"Wow. Who did this?"
"Rumors are spreading like crazy, but some say Gabs and others are saying her friends might have done it for her."
"Why Gabriella?"
"You know she and Kasey have beef. But there's another rumor that Kasey has this big secret of Gabriella's that no one knows."
"What is that?"
Chad looked around skeptically. "Apparently Kasey knows who the baby daddy is."
Troy looked up from the pictures, mouth open, speechless. "How true is that rumor?"
Chad shrugged. "No one knows and no way to tell unless Kasey decides to take it upon herself to spill the beans. And based at how I angry I saw her earlier, I would assume if she knows anything even remotely truthful, the whole school will know before the end of the week."
"Shit!" Troy cursed. He didn't know how true anything Kasey knew was, and he wasn't sure if Gabriella knew what Kasey knew or if it would be just as much as a surprise to his best friend as it would be to everyone else, but he knew he had to speak to Kasey and Gabriella before shit hit the fan even more than it already had.
Excuse any spelling errors or typos, but other than that I hope you guys enjoyed it and hopefully I'll be putting another chapter out of either this or TSM before the end of the week. Also, don't forget to REVIEW!
