A week later, Derek is meeting with a family law lawyer.
"So you and your wife are getting a divorce?" The lawyer Alissa Lorin clarified
Derek nodded, "Yes. We've talked about it. I'm filling for custody of our youngest two kids. The oldest one hates my guts and no matter how hard I try I'll never be able to repair that bond, but there is still hope for my youngest two. As long as I get them away from their mother, because she's mad at me and she's trying to poison them against me."
"Okay. How old are your kids?" Alissa wondered
"The youngest two are six and three." Derek replied
Alissa gave a nod, "Hmm..that won't be easy. Especially with the youngest. At their age most judges will grant custody to the mother. Plus judges don't like to separate siblings, unless it's absolutely necessary. The situation would have to be that one sibling is a danger to another one."
"Well…and don't take this the wrong way, because I love my children, but I think the oldest is toxic just like her mother. She hates me and she's been trying to get her brother to see me as the bad guy that she sees me as." Derek explained
"Okay. I'll do my best to help you build a case." Alissa stated
Derek nodded, "I know. Thank you. And I have no hate for my wife. I made a mistake, but she's been loyal and I still love her. However, I need to save my children while they still have a chance. Before she brainwashes them against me."
Meanwhile with Addison, she's meeting with a divorce lawyer to start the process of divorcing Derek.
"So you're divorcing your husband?" The divorce lawyer Cedrick Livingston clarified
"Yes." Addison replied "We've been fighting over the same thing for three months. We just can't resolve this issue. It's not something we can overcome."
Cedrick gave a nod, "Okay. You need to file the divorce papers and then turn them back in to me, and then I'll have them served to your soon to be ex-husband."
"Thank you. I'll also be suing my husband for full custody of our three children, but he's bringing a suit against me for full custody. I can just let him file the custody dispute without filing one myself, right?" Addison responded
"Yes. That is correct." Cedrick informed her. "You'll still get a court date, given that you don't settle during mediation."
Addison nodded, "Thank you," Then she took the divorce papers and left his office.
Later at work, Meredith saw Addison in the cafeteria. She walked over to there table where Addison was sitting.
"How are things with you and Derek?" Meredith asked as she sat down.
Addison sighed, "Not good. We're getting a divorce."
"Oh. I'm so sorry." Meredith replied "This is all my fault."
Addison shook her head, "No, it's not. We problems before you."
"We'll if there's anything I can do, I'll be happy to help." Meredith stated
Addison smiled, "Thanks."
"Is Derek fighting for custody?" Meredith questioned after a few minutes of silence
"Just of the youngest two." Addison responded. She shook her head, "I can't even begin to imagine what he might be telling the lawyer in order to win custody."
Meredith gave a nod, "Oh. I'm sorry. That must be hard."
"Thank you, and it is what it is." Addison stated
Meredith put her hand on Addison's shoulder, "If you need a friend, I'll be here for you."
Addison smiled, "Thank you, Meredith. Now to change the topic off of me, how's the baby? Hayden, right?"
"He's good. The doctor says he's growing well." Meredith replied as she nodded. She gave a smile, "I'm so excited for him to be born. Just three more months, then I get to meet my baby boy."
"Becoming a mother is an exciting time." Addison informed "I might have already said this, but I'm happy for you."
Meredith nodded, "Thank you. And I've been thinking about this for a while. I want you to be my birthing doctor."
"Oh. Thank you. I'd be honored to." Addison responded
Meanwhile after school with Elodie and Quinten, Violet picks up the kids from school.
"Hey love bugs." Violet greeted "How was school?"
"Ellie! Quinny!" Finlee and Lucas exclaimed
Elodie shrugged, "It was okay." Then she smiled, "Hi Finn and Luc."
"It was great, Auntie Vi. We had art class today." Quinten replied excitedly "Hi Lucas. Hi sissy."
"I'm glad you had a good day, Quinn." Violet responded "Why was your day only okay, El?"
Elodie paused briefly, "Um...It just was." She was thinking about her mom, "How's my mama?"
"She's good, El. She's at work. Why do you ask?" Violet said
"Mama was upset when she left for work this morning." Elodie informed
Quinten spoke up, "And daddy wasn't home when I woke up."
Violet took a breath, "You're mama and daddy aren't getting along too well at the moment, but I'm sure everything will be fine."
Elodie shook her head, "I don't think so."
