Season 1 Episode 17 The Undergraduate

Tori was away from home for a week. Jade had sent Robbie off to the movies with the kids, and she stayed home to get some work done. BUt instead of doing work, she found herself doing anything other than work. She was stalling and she knew it. She made her way to the boys room, and she spotted Jake just lying on his bed staring off into space.

"Jake what's up with you?" Jade asked sitting on the bed next to him.

"Nothing, I'm fine." Jake said.

"How come you didn't go to the movies with the others?" Jade asked.

"I didn't feel like it." he mumbled." she quirked an eyebrow.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Jade asked reaching out to touch his forehead. "well you feel okay."

"Momma I'm fine."Jake said.

"Well Okay…" Jade said and headed for her office to get down to work.

A few days later, when Tori had returned home. she sat in her studio at the Piano, and Jake shuffled in. "Hey Mom?" Jake said.

Tori looked up from her sheet music and smiled at her son. "Hey bud, what's up?"

" I need you to sign something." he said pulling out a piece of paper from his back pocket. It had been folded in half lengthwise so that it would fit. Tori closed the lid to the keys of the piano so that she could sign what he had for her. He opened the paper and put it in front of her keeping his hand firmly on the paper just over the grade.

"I don't want to be nosy Jake, but can I see what I am signing?" Tori said pulling the paper out from under his hand. Then she saw the red "F" that lay beneath. "Jake what is this?"

"It's an F." He answered

"I can see that, why do you have an F? You are an A student Jake." Tori said . "You're usually so good at math. What is going on?"

"I don't know, I listen in class I swear." Jake said.

"Maybe you need to ask your teacher for extra help after school." Tori asked.

"Okay." Jake said

"Study up Jake no more excuses."

"Yes mom." Tori said and Jake walked away from the studio.

Jake waited until most of the kids were in the media room. and went up to the girls room. He needed to talk to Ella. He went over to his sister. She was putting together an outfit for her next day.

Jake looked at his sister, not knowing exactly how to broach the subject he had come in there to talk to her about."What Jake?" Ella said exasperated.

"You like guys right?" He asked her. She stopped to look at Jake for a second

"Whyyyy?" she asked suspiciously.

"Well, since every other girl except maybe Marcia is gay in this house… I was just wondering."

"Why?" Ella asked again.

"What do girl's look for in guys?" He asked again. "You know… what is it that makes you like him?"

"Oh… Carmen likes guys too you know?"

"I don't care… what do girls like?"

"Well I thought maybe you'd wanna talk to her since she shared a womb with you." Ella stated.

"You don't want to tell me, fine!" He said turning to go.

"Okay wait.. it's different for everyone. I like a guy that's ripped you know with an awesome six pack. and has swag, like a ton of it. I like it if he makes me laugh, and he is protective. definitely taller than me. Kind of like my dad… but obviously not him."

"thanks…"Jake said and walked away He headed down to the theater room and turned the Netflix to one of Beck's new movies and watched how he moved.

In the living room Tori had been sitting looking through a script her agent had sent. as she read, Jade came into the room. As it was every time either one of them went away for more than two nights they were near inseparable when they came together. The script would ensure that Tori would not be going on tour at least for a year. she would go on location a few days but most would be filmed in Los Angeles.

Jade pulled the script out of Tori's hands and straddled her lap. "Take the role."

Tori pulled Jade closer and squeezed at her rear. "I still have to audition."

Jade quirked a brow and pulled Tori's glasses from her face placing it on top of the script on the side table. "They won't ask you to audition." Jade said and leaned forward kissing her neck. "You're Tori Vega." she kissed her cheek.

"So it's one of those show up it's yours things?" Tori asked and Jade nipped at her lip.

Jade hummed in ascent and slid her tongue in Tori's mouth kissing her thoroughly. They heard someone clear their throat. "you guys busy?"

It was Robbie, Tori pulled back. "No Rob, i'm just live tweeting." Jade chuckled dropping her head on Tori's shoulder.

"well listen to this." Robbie said and started reading from his pear pad.

Cause the possibility

That you would ever feel the same way

About me, is just too much, just too much

Why do I keep running from the truth?

All I ever think about is you

You got me hypnotized, so mesmerized

I don't mind spending everyday

Out on your corner in the pouring rain

Look for the girl with the broken smile

Ask her if she wants to stay awhile

And she will be loved

Tori's brow furrowed as she listened to him read the poem. "I hate to break it to you Robbie, but whoever wrote that stole it from David Archuleta and Maroon 5"

"I follow all of the Kid's Tumblr accounts. This is what Jake posted to a girl named Lana." Robbie answered.

"Oh my god!" Jade said climbing off of Tori's lap. "That's why he's flunking Math!"

"he has a crush!" Tori said at the same time.

"Yeah, and it's a bad one too." Robbie handed his pear pad over to Tori. She looked through it as Jade pulled out her phone from her back pocket and scrolled through it.

"There isn't a Lana in his class." Jade mumbled.

"you have all the student names?" Tori said looking up.

"I do, They send this out if you spent any time sorting through your emails." Tori quirked a brow. "Well get a private email then. I get just as much fan mail as you do." Tori put the pear pad down and looked at Jade. "Shut up not everyone can be a rock star."

Tori went back to reading her son's love notes and finally closed her eyes and clicked the pear-pad off handing it back to it's owner. "I can't read anymore."

"You can probably find out more about it." Rob said.

"He never actually tags her on anything so it's highly unlikely she sees any of it. He isn't telling her." Tori said

"Which means he won't be snapping out of this thing anytime soon." Jade said slipping her phone back in her pocket. "This has got to end., I wonder if he had talked to anyone about this Lana."

"Well if he did, they aren't going to tell us… the Triplets never talk, and We can't ask Ella, Marcia and Tyler to betray his confidence. He will never go to them again." Tori said. "They are getting really close."

Jade smiled at this. Tori racked her brain for a solution, and Robbie was getting an idea.

The next day, Tyler was in his room finishing a model ship Robbie walked in and smiled. "Hey! Is that the one your dad gave you for Christmas?"

Tyler nodded. "The guys think it's nerdy, but I really like building it."

"what are you naming it? she deserves a name." Robbie said.

"No thanks." Tyler said.

"Why not?" Robbie asked.

"You're gonna want me to call it something stupid like Carmen, Marcia or Jan." Tyler said

"No… I was thinking maybe Lana was a good name." Robbie said.

"Lana? Nah… I'm good." Tyler stated and went back to painting on details.

Robbie sighed and walked on to the toy room to pick up a little. He saw Marcia sitting there playing with her doll. "Hey Marcia!" He said sitting next to her.

"Hi!" she said feeding her doll.

"What's your baby's name?" He asked

"Kitty." Marcia said.

"Hmmm…. " Robbie said looking the doll over. "She looks like a Lana to me."

"Well, she is a Kitty." Marcia answered. He knew that was gonna be a stretch that a twelve year old boy would confide in his five year old sister but Robbie had to try.

"You're right M… She is a Kitty" Robbie said and started to pick up a little asking her for the name of each of her dolls as he went along. None of them were a Lana.

Later that afternoon, Carmen sat in the swings outside and Robbie sat next to her. "You know what a pretty name is? Lana."

"Why Lana?" Carmen said stopping her swing abruptly.

"No reason. Don't you think it's pretty?"

"MOMMY!" Carmen screamed running into the house. she ran straight down to the studio where Tori was doing a test recording. "MOM you're having a baby?"

"What?" Tori asked out of sorts.

"Robbie said that Lana was a pretty name and why would he even wonder about a name if you weren't having a baby? Whose baby? Is it you or Jade?"

"wait wait… We're not having a baby. We have enough kids." Tori said to her daughter holding her close. "Really!" She said and she looked up to see an completely embarrassed Robbie. She glared at him and worked on calming Carmen down.

Robbie went back up and spotted Jade on the kitchen table writing furiously on her notebook. "well trying to sneak an answer didn't work."

"What happened?" Jade said looking up finally.

"Carmen implied that I was asking about a Lana because you and Tori were having a baby." Robbie said sitting heavily in the chair. Jade threw her head back in laughter. It lasted until she heard from the living room Ella yell out.

"Mom, we're home!"

Jade stood still quaking in laughter. Ella had texted that she was bringing some friends home and she warned her not to be weird. Too late. "Hey Elle.."

"This is Christina and Alana… Alana is new to the area." Jade looked at Alana which looked like she was fit to pass out seeing Jade in person.

"You can call me Lana." she said nervously.

Jade's eyes Lit up. "Lana, have you ever met Tori?"

"Oh my god she's here?" Lana said.

"Mom!" Ella said impatiently.

"No… let me get to know Lana. She will meet you and Christina in a bit." Jade said and gave Christina a high five as she brought Lana down to the studio where Carmen was successfully talked down from the ledge.

"Tori, meet Lana." Jade smiled at her wife.

"Oh my god I'm fan-girling." Lana said with a shallow breath.

"That's Carmen." Carmen's mouth was agape staring at the girl in front of her.

"Hey, yeah I've seen you around." Lana said. "I can't believe my first friends here are famous, or at least their moms are."

"You're cute you don't have a boyfriend yet?" Jade asked.

'Well I like someone but I've never talked to them." Lana said

"You should talk to him." Tori said.

"you think so?" Lana asked.

"It would be the best for all of us." Jade intoned.

Just then Jake came barreling down the steps. "Mom, Ella says that they need Alana to work on their project." He said and looked at her. "Hey you must be her, nice to meet you."

He was completely unaffected like he had never seen her before. She wasn't the right Lana. "Um, they must be in my room, I'll take you up."

Tori sat back silently and watched her daughter take Lana's hand. "That Lane is all Carmen's."

Jade looked back at Tori. "Well that doesn't help with Jake."

there was a notification in Jade's phone and she read. "oh… I know who he has a crush on."

She gave the phone to Tori. "Oh Lana O'malley… Teacher's aid" said with a sigh. "she wants to talk to us about his grades."

"how do we fix that?" Jade asked.

"Hell if I know, I failed math. My Algebra teacher was smoking hot." Tori said with a smirk. Jade punched her arm playfully. She laughed and pulled Jade on to her lap and kissed her. "You want to be there or do you have to be on set tomorrow?"

Jade gave her a peck and said, "14 hour day babe."

"Ugh… are you kidding… It's a sex scene tomorrow isn't it. you didn't even ask me to come this time." Tori said.

"Stop." Jade said getting up and Tori followed her . "Just come help me practice."

"We have guests."

"This is business get in my den and just be quiet." Jade said with a chuckle and in they went.

Tori walked into the classroom Jake was sitting in the seat staring at the teacher who was explaining something to Jake. Jakes eyes were not on his paper but on her chest directly in front of him, and Tori's eyes landed on the ass. The kid had good taste. Tori leaned against the door frame and stared a little.

She cleared her throat when it was obvious that Jake wasn't getting it. "Miss O'Malley?"

The teacher stood up and she kind of descended into a fan-melt. a word Jade invented to describe how some people acted when they met Tori Vega. where they get startled to see her and they kind of melt into the ground where they stand.

"Oh… Victoria Vega…" She said. "Now I get it."

Tori quirked a brow. "Jake can you go get your stuff in your locker, I gotta talk to your teacher."

"Okay mom." Jake said and headed out of the room.

"Ms Vega, I am so glad to talk to you about Jake's grade. He seems like a bright kid and I don't really understand where I am failing him."

"Oh you aren't failing him." Tori answered. "Ms. O'Malley You are a very beautiful woman… and my son is just a boy."

The teacher looked at the mother for a second, before it Dawned on her what she was saying. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry I don't know what I was thinking. WHy didn't I see that before?"

"Because you aren't looking at my child like that." Tori answered. "I must say, I am glad I can talk to you this easily it usually takes forever for teachers to tell me things."

"My fiance is in the industry and I'm used to talking to high profile people. The teacher said.

"Wait… Deaon Greene from the Lakers is your fiance?" Tori asked she had met him a couple of times.

"Yeah, he is waiting for me so I have to cut this short." The teacher answered.

"Hold on… I think I can fix this." Tori said just as Jake was coming in. "Jake stay here I'll be right back."

When Tori came back she was with the Basketball center Jake caught sight of him and froze and had a complete fan melt. "Hey baby, Tori Vega asked me to come in." He kissed his girlfriend on the cheek and turned to face Jake.

"Daeon this is Jake, he's a big fan." Tori said.

"I have never met a Laker… Mom won't take me to games." Jake said shaking his hand.

"Okay, how about this, if you get an A in Math this Quarter, I give you tickets to center Court, and you can meet the guys before hand in the Locker room." The Basketballer said.

"Deal!" Jake said. His pretty teacher completely forgotten.

Tori looked at the couple. "At that age is so simple."

Ms O'Malley laughed and said. "I'll just go get my things babe."

"Okay." He said then both Tori and he watched as she walked away. Tori hummed her approval and bit her knuckles. "I know I wouldn't have been able to concentrate either."

Tori laughed and the fist bumped and headed out of the room together.
